Abs actuator failed for no apparent reason. many warning lights came on suddenly while normal driving. the lights included slippage, abs, check vsc, and emergency break. the break action response was diminished. this is a known problem to toyota, and they extended the warranty, but ours is beyond the new extension window. cost to repair is $1,600
I was driving at about 25mph on montgomery drive in philadelphia (city street) in the morning of 12/9/2019. it was raining lightly. the car in front of me was about 4 to 5 car-lengths ahead. it braked as another car tried to cut in, and i also immediately braked. my brake felt grinding and my car continued to slide into the back of the car in front of me.
Driving on street approaching an intersection where i was turning left and had a green light when the abs/esc lights on the dash turned on and brakes stopped working. this caused me to roll through the intersection and almost cause an accident. had to stop by rolling into curb. found the brakes do work somewhat now but are dangerously weak.
3 different concerns issue #1: while in motion the abs and brake light come on, speedometer goes to 0, other gauges go crazy. happens off and on throughout the day while driving. took it to a mechanic, they said it is the abs module going out, to fix it with a brand new part would be $1800. not only is it dangerous to not be able to see my speed, its a possibility my abs wouldn't kick in if needed. regular brakes work fine.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while traveling 40 mph, the contact attempted to brake and the anti-lock brake system indicator illuminated. the vehicle slid until it finally stopped. there was no crash. the vehicle was driven carefully back to the contact's home. an independent mechanic confirmed that the failure was due to the anti-lock brake actuator. mckinnon toyota (235 price dr, clanton, al 35046, (205) 755-3430) requested that the contact bring in the vehicle for diagnostic testing at her expense. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer provided a case number and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was 145,500. the vin was invalid.
When outdoor temperatures get cold, my brake light comes on, then i get a check vsc system and my abs light and traction lights come on, more over my brakes are less responsive (go soft).
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 35 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle would not stop. the emergency brake had to be applied to stop the vehicle. in addition, the check engine and brake warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to autonation toyota weston (4050 weston rd, davie, fl 33331, (954) 644-4867) where it was repaired per technical service bulletin nhtsa id number: 10132793 (electronic stability control, service brakes). the brake actuator assembly was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
2007 toyota camry hybrid brake actuator failure. toyota enhanced warranty extended the manufacturing defect for both time and mileage. the time frame has expired but the mileage allotment was not even close to end (only 103,000 miles on car). this defect should have been a recall since this is a common issue to numerous toyota camry's. they issued the enhanced warranty to reduce the financial burden of a recall and limit the number of complaints by only assisting owners who experienced this brake failure during their time frame. i am a senior who only drives the car to the grocery store. when returning from shopping, all the brake and anti skid lights lit up and we took the car straight home. we then took car to dealership the next day. i am being penalized because i am a senior who does not use their car excessively. the enhanced warranty time frame has expired, but the mileage allotment was not even close. this is a manufacturing defect and the car should have been recalled years ago.
Abs brake system failure while driving. loss of brakes, power steering, engine power while on a busy street approaching an intersection
Check vsc system
Brakes not working correctly. brake pressure is inconsistent and all of the lights came on in the dash at the same time! unsafe brake conditions due to toyota part defect
The brake lights systems and abs lights comes out as i start the car and all gauges stop working, the ac don't work when this happens. i can't tell how fast im going because the speedometer gauge failed to provide the correct reading, the abs control module and emergency warning indicator illuminates on the screen. this happens while i am driving, it does ramdonly and now is more frecuently.
My wife was driving to work the check engine light, vsc light and abs lights appeared on the dashboard. then the brakes were really mushy and it took a lot of force to stop the car. she pulled over and turned the car off. when she restarted the car the lights were still on. she was able to slowly drive back home.
My 2007 toyota camry se v6 brakes failed to deploy. on my way home from work, i pressed the brake pedal to stop at a red light, no brakes! i pumped the brakes and all i heard was hissing air sound. i believe it is the brake booster from the numerous complaints describing the same issue. i had no warning lights of any kind. this could have been a life ending event. toyota needs to correct this issue. where is the recall?
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving at an unknown speed, the speedometer gauge failed to provide the correct reading and the abs control module and emergency warning indicators illuminated. also the cooling component of the air conditioner failed to function. furthermore, while at a stop sign, the vehicle began to power down. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the abs control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
Abs control module needs replacing. brake and abs light come on,no a/c and speedometer goes to 0. brake lights don't work during episodes which could cause you to get rear ended. these episodes occur while idling and driving.

Vsc warning came on including traction, abs, brake, + 2 warning lights. the abs pump keeps making noise every 5 to 10 seconds even when the car is off. the brakes feel different. this happened while i was on the highway going 70mph
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost all brake functionality. the anti-lock brake system and slip indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to riverhead toyota (1655 old country rd, riverhead, ny 11901) where it was diagnosed that the abs actuator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer stated that the brake system needed to be repaired; however, toyota could not cover the cost because the extended warranty was expired. the failure mileage was 81,970.
Brakes suddenly lock up when backing up. code comes up abnormal, abs brake actuator.
My toyota camry ce has a problem with dash board. all gauges goes up and down. i have video. i took it to mechanic and base on the scanner everything checks out fine. no code indicator. there are many forums about this same problem people are encountering. this problem must be a recall. it does it while i'm driving.
My 2007 toyota camry lr abs system is not working, i read numerous complaints (over 197 complaints with this problem on 2007 camry le's) to your site with same problem: warning lights , speedometer needle at "0", etc. cost to replace abs system over $2,500. someone said the abs was only to prevent skids and even though speedometer is not showing speed, that no other problem such as sudden stop, or brake failure, etc would happen, complaints on your site show that other problems, can result, what can we do? my car mileage is 79,899. this is a continuing problem started approx. august 2017 - -
Basically the abs actuator it's failing like in the hybrid model but are not covered by the toyota extended warranty which is completely unfair as the part failing it's the same basic abs part but on different non-electric variant
I brought my car in 2015 and when i told the person at mechanicsville toyota that my brakes were making a noise they informed me to bring to the shop. when i did the mechanic's stated that there was nothing wrong with it. and for the past two years they have told me nothing wrong and now everything associated with that is wrong. all of a sudden when i spoke to am anger the same thins i stated was wrong with it is now what is wrong with it. the abs acuator...
My brake and abs lights come on intermittent. when the two lights come on the speedometer stops working and it's difficult to brake. my local toyota dealership stated that my abs actuator/abs module is going out. this is the same year, make, and model of cars that people lost there lives due to brake issue. toyota refuses to acknowledge and repair this issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 65 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to stop in a timely manner. the contact stated that the brake pedal had to be depressed several times before the vehicle stopped. in addition, the check vehicle stability control and two other unknown warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to smithtown toyota (360 east jericho turnpike, smithtown, ny 11787, (844) 547-4559) where it was diagnosed that the brake actuator needed replacement. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 198,000.
I had to beak really hard on my car when i got cut off and now i have a "check vsc system as well as traction control off light constantly on since the hard break.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the abs module failed. the contact stated the gauges on the instrument panel and the traction control would fail when the abs module failed. the abs warning and emergency brake indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the abs module needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 82,000. updated 06/21/17*lj *as
On highway at 65 mph, speedometer needle suddenly dropped to zero at same time abs and brake lights lit up on dash. after a few minutes, abs and brake dash lights turned off at the same time speedometer needle jumped back to current speed indication. no loss of power either way, but has been cycling between for the past week. not limited to specific speeds of amount of time engine has been running, as it occurs at various speeds and various times.
The short circuiting of the abs actuator has hit me too. this happened on 03/22/2017 to my 2007 camry le. it first came up when i was waiting at a red light. the abs and brake light came up and even when the car started moving, the speedometer wasn't moving. i took the vehicle to the service center and was told that the abs actuator needs to be replaced. it is going to cost me $2500. i do not want to spend almost half of the car's worth on replacing this part when i won't be surprised if another part blows up. looks like this is a very common issue with the 2007 camry model. i am surprised that toyota is not extending the warranty offered to the hybrid model to the non hybrid one. this is indeed a manufacturing issue and should be fixed. or is it going to take a few accidents before toyota accepts its fault. fuel gauge, tacometer, speedometer don't work nhtsa action number: pe14001 covers just hybrid model however the it's the same same part: brake actuator
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the abs warning indicator illuminated when the vehicle was started. the contact also stated that the instrument cluster failed to operate as intended. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. there was no fault code associated with the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage 152,369.
I have a 2007 toyota camry that has intermittent instrument cluster problems. odometer does not increment miles traveled. the speedometer and tachometer will cease to indicate proper readings and drop to zero. the tachometer will then bounce between zero and what i can only assume is a close approximation of the actual engine rpm. at the same time, the abs and parking brake warning lights illuminate and stay on for the duration of the "episode".
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. after driving and parking the vehicle, the contact returned to the vehicle to find that the instrument panel was illuminated and the brake system failed. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake system needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 137,215.
Too many problem with my toyota camry 2007 v6 first is dash board melt sticky and now abs light lit on permanently.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 42 mph, the abs failed. in addition, the vcs and check engine warning indicators illuminated, and an alarm sounded. in addition, smoke appeared underneath the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 120,000. the vin was not available.
I was on the freeway in traffic. when i step on the brake, the car didn't make a full stop. i end up hitting the truck in front of me. when my car struck the vehicle in front, the airbag didn't deploy.
Abs actuator problem: my 2007 toyota camry has a failed abs actuator. this will cost me $2,000 to replace. the abs and brake warning lights lit up on the dashboard and the tachometer started fluctuating wildly, so i had it towed to the dealer. i have had the car for 9.5 years and it has about 78,000 miles on it, so i believe the original part should have lasted longer. i am aware of the abs actuator problems on the 2007-08 camry hybrid models, so i think you should investigate the abs actuators on the regular camry models too.
Brake booster failure. daughter drove car and applied brakes quickly to stop vehicle. brakes felt abnormal and vehicle collided with rear end of another vehicle on a city street. drove vehicle after collision and brakes seemed to be working ok. 7 weeks later daughter was driving vehicle and had total sudden brake failure. vehicle brought to dealership and service tech said it was most likely a brake booster failure and would be over $1000 to repair. vehicle brought to private mechanic for further assessment. *tr
Car was recently shipped from overseas. when i got my car, the dash lights will not go off, the abs motor will not shut off causing my battery to drain constantly, speedometer will not work, gas gauge moves slow, engine shakes and feels like it is going to cut off. the car was stationary and in motion. car air condition occasionally blows hot air.
My 2007 toyota camry is having abs and brake lights on, and this seems to be a safety hazard, mileage on the car is 138000. i have heard from many people, also this can be seen in carcomplaints.com that this situation is commnly seen on 2007 toyota camry. this seems to be a manufacturing defect. i feel very unsafe to drive this car, but i cannot afford to repair this as i study that the repair cost is high. do i need to suffer this loss since i bought camry or can toyota recall this and provide free service
On an intermittent basis, brake and abs indicator lights illuminate on instrument panel, tachometer and speedometer are inoperative or indicator needles jumping, temperature gauge inoperative, a/c not functioning. occurs while driving and when stationary. based on internet research other drivers state problem is with abs ecu. dealer indicates toyota will not fund repair. based on apparent frequency of problem, toyota should cover cost of repair. per dealer, part costs about $1700.
July 2016, check engine light came on. diagnostic indicated code p171. was advised it was a laundry list of systems to check for this code. ( replaced the following; flex pipe, 02 sensor, spark plugs and fuel pump. for a total of 1400.00) while driving on i-95 at 60 mph, airbag light, brake light, abs light and seat belt light all illuminated at the same time. techometer surged out of control, engine temp gauge displayed no reading and speedometer went to zero. oh and yeah, the ac that was blowing very cold air switched to warm or hot. all of these issues happened at the same time on the highway at 60 mph. ironically, the check engine light did not illuminate and the mechanic is unable to determine the cause as there is no code issued from the computer for this very dangerous problem. this problem happens randomly and there is no warning. the engine performs normal during this issue with the exception of the ac that fails every time. this issue can and has happened when the car is sitting parked with engine running and while in motion. i am so afraid that this eventually will cause a serious accident or death. and the most annoying part is no mechanic can tell any of us why this happens or how to fix it. please, please, help us before the worst happens.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 40 mph, the service brakes and abs indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to headquarter toyota (5895 nw 167th st, hialeah, fl 33015), but the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint. over time, the sun visors detached. the vehicle was taken to south dade toyota (29330 s dixie hwy, homestead, fl 33033), but the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided no information. the contact also stated that the rear windows failed to work. the vehicle was taken back to south dade toyota, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not provide any information. the approximate failure mileage was 121,000.
Periodically when driving or at a stop, the speedometer goes to zero, the emergency brake and abs lights go on, temperature gauge occasionally goes to cold, and the tachometer gauge fluctuates. toyota dealer says it's the brake actuator ecu which, just for the part, runs around $2000. i see a recall for the hybrid but not my model and noticed other owners complaining about the same issue on the web. my car is only worth about $5000. i have owned camrys in the past but this is the first time i have any real issues with this year model. i have a 1989 that is still running with almost 350,000 miles on it. my present vehicle only has a little over 160,000.
My oil light comes on every time i break
I bought my toyota camry in 2007 brand new. recently i applied the brake and heard air leaking sound and the car can not be stopped immediately.. today, the check engine light is on and sent to the mechanic and found that the brake booster is defected need to replace it and cost around $1600. having search at the internet and revealed that complaints of this issue are existed. i feel that toyota should recall this part.
While running (sitting still or moving) the dashboard gauges will go crazy. the speedometer will go to 0, the brake and abs lights will come on and the rpm may bounce around. the temp gauge may also drop to c. otherwise, the car appears fine. this can happen at any time (engine cold or warm, driving in city or highway). the length of the episodes vary from a second (or less) to 20+ minutes. from a little research, i can tell other toyota camry (around the same year) owners have also encountered this issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving various speeds, the speedometer became inoperable and the abs light constantly illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
While operating the vehicle (stationary or moving) the instrument panel will intermittently provide false/no information. some of the known symptoms include the flashing of the malfunction lights for the abs system and parking brake, the gauge needles showing zero while moving or bouncing intermittently, and the a/c system being inoperative.
