Problems with 2007 Toyota Camry SERVICE BRAKES

On average, the 2007 Toyota Camry starts to “feel” problems with the SERVICE BRAKES and its various aspects after 113 508 miles.

Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2007 Toyota Camry

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving at any speed, the instrument panel flashed, the temperature gauge fluctuated from cold to hot, the speedometer went to zero, and the oil and abs warning lights illuminated. the failure recurred continuously. the vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake actuator associated with the abs failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 136,000.

Brake actuator failure. brakes making chirping noise when you depress peddle. check vsc system light come on. this is the second brake actuator failure resulting in replacement of unit.

My camry has check engine light on and oil needed to be changed once again in less than 3 months. toyota has a recall on oil burning up but they checked last time and said it's okay. evidently it's not. the mechanic recommended brake booster for the engine light issue which costs from $750-$1,200 which is hard to afford. this kind of issue can cost your life. toyota needs to recall this and fix it since so many other people have the same issue.

I don't have received mile of warrant coverage for brake actuator problem. they have campaigned about 177,000 car has problem on 2014. my car has big problem on 2015. i went to body shop and retail shop for brake problem with stop on the freeway before warranty expired on 2015. but they cannot fix it but the car stops on the freeway on 2014,2015 but. i continued drive the car because not enough money for the fixed. i was fixed after third time stop on the way may 2016. toyota center charged $1,700 for fixed brake problem.

/c problems. the service guy stated the problem was not with work toyota did on the car. it has been one thing after another. i love my toyota. this is lousy service. i know it has been quite some time since all of this was done. i just have not felt up to voicing my complaint. unhappy with toyota service at herrin gear toyota in jackson, ms.

I was driving my 2007 toyota camry le and the abs and brake lights came on and the rpm gauge bounce around and speedometer stops working and stays on zero and i have read a lot of complaints and should be a recall on the problem and toyota should be held responsible for this happening to a lot and several 2007 toyota vehicles like the camry. my name is [xxx]my cell is [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving approximately 40 mph, the brake pedal was depressed with a delayed response. all the instrument panel warning indicators, including the vsc indicator illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

The abs and brake lights of my toyota 2007 camry come on and off intermittently. when the lights are on, the whole dashboard readers; the speedometer, rpm, engine temperature and other gauges jump and flicker, the light markers for transmission gear and parking go off. the ac unit also did not work. i went to dealer to get it checked out but there were no codes to diagnose the issue. i was told to come back again when it happens for longer than a day. it keeps happening at various times of the day (morning and evening), when the car is stopped or moving, and on all types of roads and driving conditions (city streets, highway, at a stop light, at a stop sign, when i am turning). i have noticed that toyota has already issued a recall for the same issue for the 2007 camry hybrid. given the sheer number of complaints i have read about this issue for the regular camry 2007, it seems ridiculous that toyota has not issued a recall for this for the 2007 camry.

On two occasions, while traveling between 40-50 mph, the brakes started applying repeatedly on their own after i had pushed on the pedal to slow the car. this continued for several minutes even after bringing the car to a stop. there was an intermittent hissing sound from the area of the pedals. the pavement was dry and smooth both times. the incidents occurred about 1 month apart. the first incident was on a highway while making a slight curve to an exit ramp. the second time was driving straight on a city street in moderate to heavy traffic. after pulling over, the car would move slowly forward after i took my foot off of the brake in a slow jerking motion while the brakes applied themselves and continued with the hissing noise. after shutting ignition off and restarting the car, the problem stopped. my mechanic was not able to find anything wrong. seems to be a braking issue with these cars and toyota should step up and take responsibility before a tragedy occurs.

Brakes failed while trying to stop at a stop sign. the brakes failed while trying to stop on dry pavement. the brake pedal became very hard and the car continued threw the stop sign and stopped. the check engine light had been on for a day. i took the car to the dealer and was told it was bad gas. i drove the car for another day with hard brakes and then retuned to the dealer because of some near misses because the brakes were not working. the dealer found that the brake booster was bad. a quick check shows that this very common on 2007 camry. these faulty boosters are safety hazard and should be recalled and replaced by toyota before some one dies!

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle stability control warning light and the traction control light illuminated. the contact also stated that the brakes also failed to operate as intended. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was unable to be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 112,003.

Vehicle having problem with abs module. same as many other complaints on nhtsa website. at random times, brake and abs lights come on and speedometer drops to zero. may last for one or several minutes and eventually returns to normal. alternates between functioning and not but has been malfunctioning more than it works. mechanic diagnosed problem as abs module. brakes seem to be functioning correctly but not sure if working in abs mode. based on complaints on website, can't believe nhtsa has not forced a recall.

Check vsc system light come up!

This is the 3rd accident i have been in related to the toyota camry 2007 braking system failing. in each instance, i had been going less than 35mph in traffic. i have had to press down really hard on the brake pedal and it doesn't come to a complete stop until 20-30 seconds late. the brake does not reduce the car speed like it should be to prevent an accident from happening. in addition to this, i have also noticed that when i brake there is vibration and the car shakes when trying to come to a complete stop. on top on this, the brake pedal feels as if it is getting stuck and i have to press down really hard before i can come to a complete stop. this is very frightening and i no longer feel safe driving this car.

While driving the dash instruments go crazy. the tacho shows 0 the warning lights turn on and off. abs light comes on and the whole electronic dash malfunctions. my daughter that drives the car told me that she feels that the car will explode. from my research i found out the abs module is the cause of this malfunctions. it is dangerous to drive the car with abs acting up. toyota should recall the abs modules and replace them with good ones. it happens in the city and or the highway or when stopped.thanks

This morning i was taking my kids to school driving in a straight line under 30 mph on a neighborhood paved road. as i was approaching the 4 way stop, my dash read "check vcs system" plus all these light came on my dashboard such as a brake light, a circle with an exclamation, a few other lights that im not sure what they are and my brakes were extremely difficult to stop . i ended up rolling through the 4 way stop and was able to stop on the side of the road in a ditch. i was able to drive back to my house going very slowly and with an extremely large amount of space to stop. i then took my car to a local auto parts store to read the codes but they were unable to read them because it was not an engine code. on my way back to the house, all lights disappeared and the local toyota shop said it would be difficult to do a diagnostic without any lights. i am extremely thankful my kids and the kids walking across the cross walk at the four way stop were not injured!

9/15/15 the seat belt alarm system fails intermittently. this is seat belt alarm failure is a new development. it occurs in conjunction with the abs light coming on in the instrument panel, also an intermittent event. this abs light event continues to cause additional failures, including all instrument panel indicators including bright lights, air conditioner failure warning and now seat belt alarm.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the speedometer became stuck on zero, the tachometer and the thermostat needles bounced up and down, and the abs and brake warning lights illuminated. also, the contact mentioned that the air conditioner was blowing hot air. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the anti lock brake needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 120,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 30 mph attempting to engage the brakes, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into the rear of another the vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact sustained unknown injuries that required medical attention. it was unknown if a police report was filed. the vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

When driving came up the abs, brake and engine lights. when i check with a toyota dealer, they informed that the problem is the actuator assy brake (cost of $2,251.44 installed). looking for information about the danger of the situation found that the camry hybrid 2007 had this same problem and toyota agreed to extend a 10 year guarantee or 150k miles until 2017. the cost of the repair is not viable for me now, and cannot use the car, given the safety issues involved.

[xxx] my 2007 toyota camry le four door automatic sedan has intermittent erratic problems with the instrument control panel: the abs and emergency brake lights come on and the tachometer, thermometer and other gauges bounce up and down the events last for a few seconds to ten minutes, episodes occur sporadically and the car continues to drive normally during the events. i called toyota (800) 331-4331 and asked for a warranty extension to repair the problem, denied by toyota. i was instructed to take it to a dealer to identify the problem. on july 1, 2015, central florida toyota in orlando, florida tried to charge me $59.00, i refused to pay and they eventually proceeded to determine the problem without charge. the repair estimate given to me says, "$2,217.05 for abs actuator assy., r&r.? the mechanic said this is serious; the brakes can lock up while i am driving. there are numerous identical complaints on the internet but toyota corporate said this problem is not subject to a recall or a reported problem. I was trying to back out of an extended parking area at church, a grassy area with pebbles. so, i was backing out very carefully so as not to hit the row of cars parked behind me. suddenly as i was backing out, the toyota began to move backwards very fast with a loud roar (racecar sound). while in a state of terror i had to wrestle the toyota away from the other parked cars as much as i could and keep trying to push the brake pedal down, but the brake pedal wouldn't move. the toyota struck the back of a red car that dragged through the driver's side, from the front of the toyota to the end of the toyota. still wrestling with the wheel of the toyota, i ended up slamming backwards into an 8ft. chain link fence, on the church property. my foot still on the brake, as the toyota slams into the fence. the toyota then stopped. break and accelerator pedal returned to what felt like a normal position. i pulled the toyota up and away from the fence and out a bit away from the row of cars, so that i could get out of the toyota. i then asked the young man who watched it all, if he would go get the owner of the car i had damaged.

When driving downhill with foot depressed on brake the vehicle was trying to accelerate, abs light game on and brake light simultaneously , speedometer stopped working, tach went crazy and car began to idle roughly and try to surge forward with foot on brakes

On april 1, 2015, i reported that brake and abs lights came on frequently and the air conditioner goes off. since that time, i have also noted increased stopping distances when having to stop fast. i am concerned that in an emergency stopping situation, the abs will not work properly which will cause a crash. as i reported previously, the dealership indicates they have no knowledge of the problem, but this is hard to believe in light of all the entries on the internet. also, there has been a recall for the camry hybrid for the same issue.

The primary safety concerns regarding my complaint are a malfunctioning speedometer and a malfunctioning anti-lock braking system; however, there are others, which i will describe. while i was driving home, the instrument panel went completely crazy. specifically, the speedometer went to zero (as i was driving 40mph) the tachometer started bouncing up and down between 0 and 2 or 3, the brake and abs light came on. then, everything went back to normal before i could pull over. i soon realized additional problems like the temp gauge going limp and the air conditioner blowing hot air along with other things. all of this happened all together but on and off at random intervals. i did some research, which led me to the abs issue. according to others with the same problem the repair is $2k-$3k and many had stories of dealers making various costly repairs that didn't fix the problem. i work for minimum wage, this is my only car, and it is 110 degrees in my town. driving without air conditioning here is a safety hazard. one person suggested unplugging the faulty abs module to regain air conditioning. when i did this the air conditioning did in fact start working along with the tachometer and temp gauge. the speedometer, odometer, and seat belt alarm still do not work. furthermore, this is no longer intermittent but constant and the brake light, abs light, and check engine light all remain on. an abs malfunction could be disastrous in wet weather. the lack of a speedometer is a safety problem on city roads for obvious reasons and not to forget the seat belt alarm or the odometer, which no longer logs the mileage. my 2007 camry had low miles for its age (<70k) when these problems first occurred; the car has been garaged and well maintained. i have read many other complaints from those with the very same problems and it seems like a faulty product is to blame.

5/13/2015: 2007 toyota camry. vsc (vehicle stability control) light came on (5/9/2015). it was very difficult to stop the vehicle. had to floor the brakes in order to stop the vehicle. the steering was all over the place, not tight with the steering wheel movements. brought it to the dealership (new country toyota of clifton park, ny) where we bought it 9 months ago and they said this is a common part that fails. if this is true, there should be a recall...this is a huge safety issue. i am thankful that my son didn't get in an accident. they now want $2500 to repair it. when we purchased this vehicle for our son 9 months ago, they said that we can get 250,000 miles out of it, it was a very safe car for our son to be in....i beg to differ!!! i see lots of complaints listed for this electronic stability contol and hope there will be a recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving approximately 25 mph and attempting to make a left turn, the steering wheel seized and the vehicle failed to stop. as a result, the contact crashed into a street light and the air bags failed to deploy. the contact also stated that the brake warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. a police report was not filed and there were no injuries. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

Abs module failure due to manufacturing defect. internal shorting in module cause cars computer can system to go down. abs braking stops working, dashboard instruments lose all signals and go to zero. speed/rpm/temp/braking lights come on abs. total dashboard confusion. climate control system stops working.

The car speedometer stopped working while i was driving. the needle went to zero, the tachometer fluctuates out of control up and down, the abs and brake lights come on, the lights that indicate what gear you are in turned off, the gas gauge appears to still work okay, but the mileage stops calculating although the digital display is still on just not counting mileage. i have no way to know how fast i am going or if my car will either not stop due to brake lights being on or just cut off since there seems to be some electrical malfunction. the air conditioning also stopped working. this happened the first time for about 10 minutes, then as quickly as it stopped, it started working again. it has now done this each day at multiple times during each trip for the past 3 days since the problem first started. not knowing how fast you are going is a real safety issue and sounds like this issue has come up before with other toyota owners and should be recalled. *tr

As i was driving and came to the stop my speedometer dropped down to zero, my tachometer keeps going up and down, the abs and brake signals light up, and my a/c seems to stop working. i researched this online and noticed that hundreds of consumers are experiencing this problem. seems to be something to do with the abs modulator/sensor corroding. i contacted my local toyota dealership in clovis and they said they had to start with a basic diagnosis of $129 and that this was not a recall issue. how can this not be a recall of there are hundreds of complaints!? i have a tomtom that can keep track of my speed so i'll just use this until a recall is made and this issue can be fixed free of charge. *tr

For the second time in less than a year, the brake and abs lights came on the dashboard. the lights went out shortly after, but the abs engaged when they shouldn't, causing my stopping distance to be dramatically increased. i nearly crashed, and was forced to swerve to avoid the car ahead. toyota has a service bulletin on this problem--it has been diagnosed, two years running, at a toyota dealership as a corroded abs sensor. toyota refuse to pay for labor, or create a part that is better shielded. this is dangerous. who knows when it will go out again? i am deeply concerned for my safety. *tr

While driving down the road at around 45mph. all of a sudden. my abs and brake light indicators light up. my speedometer dropped down to 0. my gauges jumping around. my speed in actuality didn't go down to 0. and, my car didn't stall or cut off. but, if it had. i could have been ran over by a semi truck or another vehicle. prior to this happening, my tire sensor light was on. i took to the dealership, and they said once the tire sensor was fixed, the other would go away. i had tire sensor fixed. the lights went off for a brief period. but, back on again at interval times. the car also seems to want to cut off when idling at red lights. when i googled the problems online. it seem toyota cars of all makes and years are having the same exact problem. i am taking back to the dealership once again. *tr

My 2007 toyota camry xle lost control of steering, brakes and stability control. the car surged left, right, left the went off the road to the right. the brakes were applied but did not seem to have any function. massive damage was caused to the body from hitting 2 trees. no airbag deployment. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the brakes hesitated on the vehicle, the abs light illuminated, and the braking system seemed to not be fully operational. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure occurred just after the vehicle underwent a 100,000 mile service check-up at the dealer. the contact discovered that toyota performed repairs to the same model year toyota camry hybrid. the failure mileage was 100,000.

El carro tiene muchos defectos de fabricante y quisiera me ayudaran

Started car and the brake and abs lights stayed on and did not go off. then while driving to my daughters school, and the shop i was going to take the car to, my engine light came on. i picked up my daughter then went to the shop and had vehicle checked. there were had 5 codes that come up. then went out with the mechanic to see if the speedometer was working as he asked if i noticed if it was or was not working. we took car for a quick drive to see how car was driving. the first thing i noticed was that the speedometer was not moving from zero. the lights all stayed on and the brakes were working. the rpm gauge was still going up and down. i did not have the money to do any fixing as of yet so i decided to bring the car home and park it until i can get it fixed as my mechanic said it was not safe to drive. after this i did some research on line and have found that this is a common problem on the 2007 toyota camry and that the hybrid model has a recall for this problem, but as of yet they have not recalled the 4 cyl or the 6 cyl which is not right as the codes are the same and the issues are the same. the right thing to do would be to recall all 2007 models before this issue causes a fatal car accident. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving approximately 10 mph, the ability to brake seized. the contact had to maneuver to the side of the road to a complete stop. the abs and the check engine warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. the vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. the approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

I was driving about 30 miles an hour and approaching a stop sign and suddenly, all dashboard lights come on, the brakes stopped functioning. i lost control of the car briefly but was able to regain it and was eventually able to bring it to a stop. *tr

I was driving the camry when i reached a complete stop my check engine light came on, didn't really notice any change, two days later i notice gas consumption has increased. i took the camry into dealer, dealer diagnosed the check engine to be a faulty o2 sensor. replaced o2 sensor and drove off to pick up my kids from school, as we are driving home, i came to a traffic light, i stopped and check engine light and abs light came on idle was disrupted briefly. i proceeded and when trying to stop car the brake pedal had become very tight to were i had to stomp on brakes with all my might to get car to stop. drop kids off at home waited 15 minutes and started vehicle, abs light was off but check engine remained on, brake pedal was almost back to normal. i drove car to dealer again, the dealer said it is a faulty brake booster which is allowing too much air into system which in return signals for more fuel to be pumped to compensate vacuum leak. brake booster not covered under extended warranty, and very costly 1,363.16 parts, labor and taxes, not counting the 4 day rental. this concerns me because i believe this to be a safety issue, if it were my wife driving the camry with my kids she would not be able to stop the vehicle without any warning. toyota needs to make this a safety recall before something tragic happens. i looked at toyota forums and it seems i'm not alone, brake booster for several other toyota models have gone bad, after 100,000 miles some at 70,000. 2007 toyota camry seems like a horrible guinea pig car. *tr

I was driving down a hill about 5mph because it was snowing and there were cars infront of me. i was slowly pressing the brake and then the brake pedal got stuck and i couldn't control the brake, the wheels had locked to and i kept on sliding and i went head on in an suv. car is totaled and i sustained neck, back, knee, and shoulder injuries. and also i don't know if there was a fire but after the airbags deployed there was a lot of smoke coming from everywhere. *tr

Abs and brake light comes on and the odometer an tachometer stop working or go up and down wildly at the same time the air conditioner blows hot air. also excessively burning oil 1 to 2 quarts per 1000 miles.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, there was a delayed response when the brake pedal was applied with force. in addition, the abs warning light illuminated. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the technician diagnosed that the abs switch would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 131,000.

Started the car and noticed the abs and parking brake light were on. tachometer was jumping between 0 and 1000rpm. air conditioner wasn't working. drove the car a bit with no change except the tachometer jumping a bit higher than 1 and dropping back to 0. speedometer wouldn't move at all. after a bit more driving, the abs and parking brake lights turned off and the gauges resumed normal operation. air conditioner also started working. since this initial problem, the gauges and lights have been operating with the same inconsistency (jumping tachometer, speedometer sitting at 0, abs and parking brake lights on).

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the anti- brake system warning light illuminated and all the various gauges on the instrument cluster started to fluctuate. in addition, the air conditioner started to blow hot air and the brakes hesitated to respond. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the anti-brake module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 110,000.

I can not stop the car on red light or any stop sign, there is a abs sign, they suppose to fix it last months, i went to the dealer then they replace some thing. i am worry. *tr
