Problems with 2007 Toyota Camry SERVICE BRAKES

On average, the 2007 Toyota Camry starts to “feel” problems with the SERVICE BRAKES and its various aspects after 113 508 miles.

Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2007 Toyota Camry

I just got my 2007 camry hybrid back after the "check vsc system" warning light came on this past week. i called my toyota dealer to have it checked out while i had an oil change and tire rotation done as well as another recall dealing with, i believe, was a brake reservoir issue. earlier in the week i called toyota corporate to ask them about this warning i got and they asked about the numerous warning lights that came on when this happened on my instrument panel. and recommended i get it checked out. i left the vehicle the next day and later in the day they came back and told me the items were done, what the exception of the vsc system warning light. they said that my actuator was faulty. they said that they had called toyota about it and were awaiting a call back from them. they called me later in the day and said that toyota was willing to do the repair, free of charge, as a "one time only" deal. i never made a big deal out of this situation, never complaining. ironically, a warning light dealing with my tire pressure that has never came off is gone as well as those other lights including the (!), abs, the "skidding car", etc. among others also, my camry has over 233,000 miles, no where near a warranty type repair! this must be a problem that toyota is dealing with, but are keeping it on the "down low" to avoid a recall and another public embarrassment. i am also forwarding this to the ntsb and out local tv station. i am sure this is happening all over the country and hope that no one is adversely affected by this obvious factory defect. sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Braking is not smooth. when vehicle comes to a stop it jerks. seems as though brakes jam. *tr

On the above date and time my daughter was driving the above vehicle when she came to a stop and had to depress the brakes. she noticed the vehicle was hard to stop and heard a hissing/air sound coming from the brake pedal area and the driver side air vent. she drove the vehicle home and we drove it to the dealership, they informed us it was the brake booster and the car would be dangerous to drive without that repair. this vehicle only had 80,000 miles on it and regular maintenance. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving approximately 60 mph, the abs and brake warning indicators illuminated intermittently. also, the speedometer and odometer failed to operate. the contact mentioned that there was a rapid increase in rpms. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 65 mph, the abs and emergency warning indicators illuminated. the air conditioner produced hot air, the engine sputtered, and the speed rapidly decreased. the contact had to pull the vehicle over, place it into park and then back into drive in order for it to operate normally. the dealer stated that the abs actuator had internal failure and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 123,785.

Abs and brake light came on while driving also my speedometer needle does not move, and rpm gauge starts fluctuating. this occurs intermittently. i took it to the toyota dealer they told me i have to replace the brake actuator assembly (skid control ecu) a total cost of $3,453 to fix. :( my car has only 67,750 miles. i do know the 2007 camry hybrid is having the same problem and those are being recalled. *tr

The brake and abs indicator light started to come on intermittently. i checked the brake fluid container and it was extremely low. i added brake fluid. this concerned me because i had my car serviced less than two months and felt they should have noticed that the fluid level was low. the brake and abs indicator light continued to come on intermittently. i took my car to the dealership; a diagnostic test was performed and i was informed that i needed to replace the brake actuator. total cost was $2,086.40. since i've had the brake actuator replaced, i've noticed that the delayed brake response no longer exists. *tr

I have a 2007 toyota camry hybrid with 132,000 miles. my first experience with the vsc system warning lights happened at 96,000 miles. the dealer stayed i had a leak in the brake actuator and charged me $150 to diagnose, and $2600 to repair, i declined the repair and took it to a shop near me. they repaired the problem for $1000 and it lasted about two years, and ow it's back. i have soft brakes, noise coming from the brake pump and a constant warning bell while driving.

I was driving home from work and as i approached the stop sign that is at a slight rise in the road; i stepped on the brakes and they were very hard going down and i hear air coming out of somewhere. my car would not stop. i had to pump the brakes several times and i finally stopped just as i steered the car to the side of the road next to the stop sign. i just missed a car coming from the south on the road i was turning on. i continued my drive home "white knuckling" it all the way. the brakes did the same thing at the other stop signs and the two turns i had to make to get home. i was driving about 5 miles per hour when i pulled into the parking lot of my apartment complex because i was scared to death i was going to hit a child. i have had the car parked since then because i do not have the money to pay to have it repaired yet. *tr

We were driving and my husband notice that the brakes were not working properly when applied. there was a hissing sound when you apply the brake and it takes a long time for the car to stop. the brake booster is gone. i have noticed that there have been a lot of complains about this sort of thing happening with toyota camrys. this is dangerous they should recall all toyotas from 2007 on, because someone is going to die. several people have reported this problem to toyota only to be told that they have not heard of this problem. they are at fault as this is clearly a manufacturing problem......updated 09-03-14 *bf. *tr

Abs light came on, speedometer. odometer, and a/c stopped working. problem continues intermittently. internet research indicates that this is a widely known problem with this year model and repairs are extremely expensive. seeking repair through recall. this is a safety issue. please advise if recall has been or will be initiated. thank you. *tr

Several warning lights on the dash illuminated, including the stability control and brake lights, along with a warning on the dic that said "check vsc." there was also an intermittent loss of braking ability/brake pedal pressure. *tr

When driving brake and abs light comes on and speedometer goes to 0 mph also ac stop working. went to a toyota dealer they say it's the battery. tested the battery got 12v, told them i'm not stupid. toyota forum shows a lot of people having the same problem. what toyota waiting for to place a recall for this problem that can be fatal ?

Abs light and brake light comes on. the speedometer and odometer falling to zero, a/c sounding as if it shut down, warm air comes out. *tr

Here is a problem with my toyota camry, 4-door le sedan, 2007. the indicators brake and abs on the instrument panel started lighting up occasionally after the front brake service on 07-29-14. when it is happening, the temperature gauge, tachometer, and speedometer are moving quickly, up and down and finally to '0' position. my mechanic was not able to fix it and suggested to bring the car to a dealership. i visited toyota services. code u0073 was present in their tests. they could not pinpoint a problem and suggested additional tests, but told me they could not guarantee the problem will be resolved. considering the said above, i decided not to do any more tests. i continue drive my car with the described problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the abs light illuminated and the brakes failed. the contact mentioned that during the failure the vehicle began to jerk violently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the diagnostic was unknown. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 115,000. the vin was unavailable.

My wife was driving her 2007 toyota camry when the "check vsc" error code came on at which time the brakes became very mushy. we took it to a mechanic the code showed that the brake actuator is failing. so now we will have to pay over $2,000 to get this common problem fixed. *tr

the same year and model toyota camry has already had a recall for the same problem in the hybrid version for the exact same part. while driving the car the speedometer goes to zero, the tachometer needle goes up and down like crazy, the ac cuts off and the temperature sensor cuts off. the parking brake light and the abs failure light come on the dashboard showing the brake system has failed. the cars does stop but with hesitation. i have no way to know if the brake light are working during the failure so i am concerned i am going to get rear ended because the driver behind me won't know i am stopping. there is no way to know if this issue will get worse and there will be a point where it will not stop. i called toyota and opened a case #1407190530 and was told that they had no such issues showing in their database. i told them it shows up thousands of times on google and was basically told, who are you going to trust thousands of people or toyota? i asked him to check for any notes on the model dealing with the abs ecm or the abs actuator. he told me they had none and that i had to bring it to the dealer and have them check it. this seems like a great scam for them, the car gives a code u0073 showing the problem is the abs, so the dealer gets to charge a couple of hundred dollars to run tests to then tell you the 3 inch square part cost $4000 to replace because they are the only ones that make it. you buy the part it cost them $50 to make for $4000 with labor or your don't have a car. having read through hundred of posts online from people with the exact same issue, with the exact same part i feel that there should be a recall on these cars. toyota has a bean counter mentality where it has figured out the number of acceptable dead and how much legal fees they can pay before it is worth fixing an issue. deaths before the loss of profit should be the toyota slogan. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the abs and the brake lights illuminated intermittently. the contact also mentioned that the speedometer, the tachometer, the mileage meter, and temperature gauge intermittently malfunction. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the abs pump modulator needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle not repaired. the failure mileage was 160,000.

We where driving to the store and on the way the check engine came on, so we pulled into the local autozone and they ran a scan for fault codes. it had a code p0171 which they said it coulf 1 of several posibilities and should have a repair shop perform a proper check to be sure what is actually going on. well we continued on to the store, when coming to a stop my wife said we have no brakes, the pedal was going to the floor, we did come to a stop with hitting anything thank god. well i drove from there back home very carefully. once home i look under the hood for anything that be causing it to happen, and everything look inplace and ok. so next i got back into the car and push the brake pedal down and heard a loud air leaking from the brake pedal, i got down by the pedal and push on the the pedal with my hand and could hear air coming out the boot. i called a mechanic and explained to him what was happening and he said it is my power brake booster. next i got on line and found that alot of 2007 camry's with anywhere from 40,000 miles up to and over 200,000 that have the power brake booster failing, and when i tried to fine one for my car i found that there are none anywhere, even at the dealership. i did ask if they know of this problem and he paused for a moment, then said no. i believe this should be investigated be fore someone injured or killed. *tr

I actually just bought a used 2007 hybrid camry last monday. there were no indicators on the dash and it looked great. 2 days later the check vsc system and abs lights come on the dash. i took to the dealer immediately and the problem is the same as everyone else here, failure in brake accumulator. the technician was very adamant about me parking the car immediately until repairs are completed. he said the brakes can go out at any time, vehicle is unsafe to drive. the repairs are going cost over $1500. *js

Anti-lock brake system went out in my 2007 toyota camry and the toyota place said the actuator needed to be replaced and it would cost 2100.00 to fix it. my extended warranty just ran out on my car so they would not cover it. i see that the federal government is investigating the 2007 camry hybrid for the same reason i am just wondering if my anti-lock brake system is the same braking system that is in those cars. *tr

Abs, speedometer, tachometer, rpm and a/c jumps on and off all over the place. i took it to a toyota dealer, could not find what was the problem but they assumed it may be the abs module or some other modules may not be talking to each other. i have researched on line toyota camry forums and and found they are lots of toyota camry owners with the same issues. this is a very safety issue because im not able to see at the speed my car is going when driving it because tachometer gauges among the others gauges working intermittent (on and off) i request for toyota to place a recall for all toyota camry having this mayor safety electronics problems. i would not mind paying for repair if toyota dealer knew what the problem was but they don't know and if the repair did not exceed ocer thousands of dollars for something that the manufacture has failed to addressed and fix. thank you.

For two years now, the "check vsc" light will come on intermittently. it has happened both when i am in motion as well as stationary. at that time, several other lights on the cluster such as the abs light will come on. the brakes become very sluggish but i can ultimately stop the car. the warning lights will eventually go out, usually after i turn off the car and restart it. once the warning lights are off, the brakes work normally. the brakes are now making a barking sound when depressed. my mechanic says i need a new abs system which will cost thousands of dollars. *tr

On june 5, 2014 i was driving my 07 camry at approximately 40 mph when the abs, brake and vsc warning lights came on. it took more effort to engage the brakes in the car and i drove the car to keyes toyota. the vehicle was checked and several codes were identified. c012 rear speed sensor rh circuit, c0215 rear speed sensor lh circuit, c1331 open circuit in left front circuit, u0073 control module bus off. service writer found that the abs actuator was shorting out intermittently and advised that the vehicle may not be safe to drive. he advised that the vehicle was not covered under warranty and that the repair would cost approximately $2,750 plus tax. i was not able to pay for the repair at this time. on 6-9-14 contact was made to toyota and they advised that there were no recalls or tsb's for the abs system on non hybrid 07 camry even though the symptoms experienced and the repair codes were similar. toyota declined assistance and advised that if they did do a recall i could submit for possible reimbursement of the repair. in researching this i found over 125 abs related complaints reported to nhtsa. in addition there are numerous complaints on the internet with persons who have experienced the very same symptoms some of which have almost been involved in collisions. this seems to be the very same issue that the 07 hybrid camry was recalled for and yet nothing is being done for the non hybrid version. this to me is a safety concern that should be recalled. *tr

Abs and brake lights came suddenly on and the speedometer stopped working. i tested the break and i had to push hard to make it work. i was on the highway and at 65 mph. i got really scared and after a while everything came back to normal. it happened again today and happening frequently.

I bought this car from a small dealership with around 149700 miles 2weeks later a vsc message came on with a couple of lights after investing online found out is a manufacture problem and then after further check found out it was taken in to toyota to verify that same problem i got so i called them they told me is the brake actuator was bad and the cost is 3500 thank you *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the gauges fluctuated intermittently. the contact also stated that the abs light illuminated and the temperature gauge dropped to zero. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that there was an electrical wiring issue and the abs system was defective. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

The problem started around 40k miles with my toyota camry 2007, while driving the break light warning would come on as well as the abs & parking warning light. the odometer & rpm gauges go to zero. while this is happening the breaks take harder and longer to engage. the car shakes as well with minimal breaking efficiency. intermittently the steering wheels also becomes hard to turn and shakes vigorously, which would cause my wrist to hurt. toyota dealer indicated that new break actuator is required to fix the problem. they asked me to contact the manufacturer. the manufacturer indicated that they have not heard of the break actuator problem. i followed up with another letter to the executive at toyota, abbass saddat, vp. danica with executive office contact me back. she started by brushing me off initially. when i indicated that the same problem was addressed by toyota for the same year for the hybrid version, she indicated that ok, so it is not for our gas model. i indicated that the when you contact toyota dealer parts department, it is the same part for both gas and hybrid. so when she heard that, she said, 'ohh' ok, let me investigate the problem. she made it evident that her job was to brush me off, without actually looking into the problem or wanting to know anything about it. it is very obvious that toyota will not take initiative unless a member of the public dies or gets seriously injured. so far i am still waiting for he r contacting me confirm he dealers finding or address the problem. this a serious public safety issue. further more, the toyota dealer indicated the car is worth $7200. it doesn't make sense to replace a abs break actuator to be close to the half of the price of the car either.

The car hesitates to stop at times, isles up and acts as it wants to take off, and jerks as i'm driving it. it shoes on the dash to check vsc system. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that when they applied the brakes, the abs would sporadically engage, and the abs light would illuminate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that the abs actuator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shake violently. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician diagnosed that the brakes were padded and the rotors were worn. as a result, the brakes needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 150,000.

I have a 2007 camry le and in 2013 i noticed the abs and break lights on the dashboard come on intermittently, tachometer bounces up and down and speedometer shows 0. this kept happening intermittently. this is a huge safety issue, since when driving on the highway, if it doesn't show the correct reading on the speedo meter and the breaks may not function as expected which might lead to accidents. i got it checked(diagnostics test) at a toyota dealership and they indicated that the abs actuator unit is faulty and needs to be replaced and the cost would be around $2000. i called toyota to complain since this is an electrical/electronic component and nothing really related to ware and tear, they indicated there are no recalls for abs actuator assembly. i looked online and found that camry hybrids 2007 have the same problem and toyota is providing "warranty extension" for owners who experienced this problem. i believe the same warranty extension for abs actuator should apply to 2007 camry non hybrid models also. seeking nhtsa help in this regard. *tr

I started my car and the "check vcs system" light as well as other indicator lights came on. after a few seconds they went away. i proceeded to drive down the street as normal. about 30 seconds into my drive, traveling at approximately 15mph, the "check vcs system" light as well as other indicator lights came on again. when i applied the brakes right after the indicator lights came on i discovered that i had no power brakes. i had to press on the pedal extremely hard for the car to come to a stop. this is a very serious and dangerous situation and i hope you can investigate this problem with toyota. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving at an unknown speed, the emergency brake and abs light illuminated. the speedometer and the air system failed to operate properly. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the contact was notified of a manufacturer service bulletin that might correct the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while attempting to decelerate, the brakes failed to function and all of the warning lights illuminated. the contact also mentioned that the failure occurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealership. the technician diagnosed that the brakes were losing hydraulic pressure due to a slow leak. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 89,600 and the current mileage was 90,060.

This all started december 16, 2013, when i lost power while driving and my car broke down on the road. i had the master cylinder, alternator, battery, and air mass flow sensor replaced. picked the car up drove it home and she still felt a little sluggish but i figured the car was cold. went to have it inspected the next day and my brakes were locked! had it towed back to the shop and he replaced the master cylinder again. pickedt it up drove it home and the car started shaking at 60 mph again i figured it was cold and made it home. next day drove it to work, the car went to 50, 40, and then 30 mph and would not go faster than that! i had it towed back to the shop and my mechanic did some research and it appears this is a known issue with 2006 and 2007 models. it starts with the braked cylinder and as long as the brakes don?t get hot it runs fine. once they get hot the brakes applies itself which forces your car to slow down! this is so dangerous! you basically have to replace you entire brake line and or check all the hoses, brake booster ext. until you can pinpoint the problem. is toyota doing a recall on this? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while traveling 20 mph, the vsc warning light illuminated as the brakes failed. the failure occurred on three occasions. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic, who diagnosed that the vsc system failed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 200,000 and the current mileage was 210,000. the vin was not available.

Re: faulty brake failures on 2007 toyota camry le v6 intermittent loss of power assisted braking which causes all dash lights malfunctioning. in-dash brake and abs lights stay on while the vehicle is running, all gauges including temperature, tachometer, speedometer, and odometer go to zero and stop counting. the vehicle takes longer to stop. power cerritos toyota charges $2,600 to replace the faulty brake actuator. it is not covered by manufacturing warranty. *tr

Like many others with this particular car (hybrid), check vsc system warning came on along with many warning lights on the car and the brakes stopped functioning properly. instead of normal breaking, it now takes pushing them all the way down sometimes. toyota dealer quotes $2600 for the same repair (part replacement) that lots of other people are griping about online? especially since the part is only available from toyota. the car does not feel safe to drive under these conditions. there are many complaints about the very same problem. for example: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/feds-investigate-braking-problems-in-toyota-camry-hybrid-012814.html here's 7 pages of gripes: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/105-camry-hybrid/401450-2007-tch-check-vsc-system-code-c1391.html here's 11 more pages on a website someone created especially for this particular issue: https://www.checkvscsystem.com/guestbook.php and there's many more. please do something. toyota's official stance is to claim "no recall" and leverage being the only source of the part to make a killing off of this (apparently) mass problem (for this car). *tr

Customer states abs light on, (dealer) diagnostic code c1391, abnormal leak in accumulator. recommend replacement of accumulator and brake flush. $3642.00 inc. tax. part is described as accumulator/hydraulic control/ecu assembly, part number 44050-30660, by dealer. (foregoing provided by service invoice at date/time of diagnosis, 02/05/2014). (awaiting possible action by nhtsa as a safety related matter). *tr

I have informed toyota on their web site that i have had issued with my brake from the moment i bought the car. i went to the dealer that say nothing is wrong, but i have changed my brakes at least twice a year since i bought the car. now from what i have read on the internet it seems that the brake booster has gone bad. really? do i have to wait until the car crashes to get attention? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the vehicle would ride roughly and shake when traveling at any speed. the vehicle was taken to a repair shop where it was diagnosed that a wheel alignment needed to be performed. the wheel alignment was completed and the contact was also advised that the rotors were rusted and should have been replaced when the brakes were most recently replaced. the failure was not corrected. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000. updated 08/14/14*lj

I own a toyota camry le 2007. i am having problems with the speedometer, tachometer and temperature gauges. while in motion, they will cease to indicate proper readings and drop to zero. at the same time, the abs and parking brake warning lights turns on and stay for a duration of 10 to 30 minutes. also the a/c goes off when these two lights turn on. *tr

While driving or idling, brake and abs light get lit and speedometer is not working, odometer is jumping up and down and heat needle is intermittently going normal/cold. the mileage meter is not working and this all goes away when those lights either reset on their own or some other way not known to me how. while driving not knowing how fast is vehicle going its very dangerous and toyota is not doing what they should do and announce recall because there are large number of people complaining about this issue and have problem with the same. i took car to the toyota grossinger dealer in lincolnwood il and first time after over 4 hours there they said its only battery and positive terminal. after extensive complaining and filing the survey they decided to give another try and check again, this time took over 4 hours to find out but they did found that abs actuator needs replacement and that would be well over $4000 which is absurd because this part breaks due to extreme winter temperatures of -10f and below. known fact that in chicago we had very hard winter this year, if not one of the strongest since we broke several records in temperature and wind chills and amount of snow fallen to the ground, with number of polar vortex weather that we couldn't control. now we are left with faulty part that leaves us driving like that because its not easy and very possible to pay the sum of money like $4000 for one part for a car that already i paid almost $30,000. i wish that you guys give the push to fix this problem before it causes casualties all over country like other similar problems with toyota camry's happened in the past. *tr

My abs and vehicle stability lights came on the next day while driving i attempted to apply my brakes and they did not stop the vehicle. i took car to local toyota dealer and they said that my antilock braking and regular braking systems have both failed and the part is 2500 dollars and to total repair with labor is over 3000 dollars. *tr

Times and mileage are approximate because we did not know at the beginning that this would be a persistent problem. around january 1, 2014, when we started the camry after leaving the grocery store, four dash warning lights and a message display went on and stayed on (brake system (red), brake system (yellow), master warning (red), anti-lock brake system (yellow), and "check vsc system" (in display)). during this time the vehicle had no power assist brakes, no anti-lock brakes, and as best we can determine - no vehicle stability control system; it had only manual hydraulic brakes that were hard to push and slow to stop the car. we drove the car home carefully and parked it. when we next started the camry the lights were not lit, and all systems worked. when the same problem occurred at a later date we took the car to a local toyota dealer. the lights were still on when we dropped off the car. the dealership reported that there were no warning lights lit when they investigated the problem; no diagnostic codes were recorded by the vehicle's electrical system. we agreed that upon the next occurrence we would drive the camry to the dealer without turning it off. unfortunately, at the next occurrence the lights illuminated, the brake assist systems were inactive, but the condition reversed itself as we drove to the dealer (without turning off any systems). the dealer found no codes upon testing for this occurrence. we agreed the dealer would come to the car at the next occurrence. unfortunately that happened in the middle of the night on the highway (65 mph) and the dealer was not available. this brings us current to 4/28/14. we are concerned about driving the car without abs or vsc systems, and we believe that the manufacturer should have information about how these conditions have been corrected in other vehicles even with no diagnostic codes. *js

Abs brake system failed after "check vsc system" light came on during normal drive. here is a link to a website where numerous other owners of this car (hybrid model) have had similar incidents. https://www.checkvscsystem.com/home.html some have had crashes and some have had near misses with pedestrians, vehicles, etc. this is a very serious safety issue that toyota refuses to acknowledge. toyota issued a service bulletin for the software on this module t-sb-0174-12, but claims our failure was different. total failure of the abs brake module after less that 45,000 miles indicates that this is a problem that could occur at anytime, in any camry. it appears that lexus cars also are affected. we got a partial reduction on the repair ($1500 instead of $3000), but toyota wanted the part. we kept it and can provide it to you for testing and inspection. the failure occurs without any warning and some people on the web site i sent you had the failure occur on the highway at highway speeds. fortunately ours happened as my wife was driving from a stop at a red light. we were lucky. please investigate this before someone is killed or seriously injured. thank you. *tr

Change my brakes twice, my abs make noise, my wheel shake when i brake hard,2 set of tires, 2 new set of brake pad and rotor. also died on freeway once driving in the rain, and on rough road it the worst. please investigate this has been going on since i bought the car brand new in 2007. i have the camry hybrid version...updated 09-09-14 *bf *tr

I was driving my car with my mother in it taking her to a doctor appointment. i was entering onto i-95 northbound from route 273 trying to merge into traffic, i was almost on the highway. the car suddenly accelerated and catapulted us across 4 lanes of traffic. the police said i hit another car, spun around and ended up facing the oncoming traffic stopped only by the guardrail. my mom had to be extricated from the car. i recall applying the brakes and the car not stopping, i also tried to put on my left turn signal but that would not work either. i later learned that the 2007 camry (nearly 4 million of them) had been recalled for sudden acceleration problems. i was told by toyota that nothing was wrong with my car but there is no way i intentionally went across 4 lanes of interstate highway traffic. really??? my car was totaled. my mother was injured and was hospitalized from that day until mid december. it was a very difficult time. i would like for toyota to take responsibility for their malfunctioning product and do the proper justifiable, compensatory thing. the other driver was injured and i believe her car was totaled as well. *tr
