Problems with 2007 Toyota Camry UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2007 Toyota Camry starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 190 384 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2007 Toyota Camry

There are several issues. first sticky dash board .. was told i'm being put on a waiting list for part. it's been months still no word. 2nd oil consumption is ridiculous. . oil runs out way before it's time for oil change every time .. no oil leaks anywhere .. car just burns oil super fast never experienced this with any car i've owned ..3rd the car vibrates when in you hit around 40 mph at 1.5 rpm doesnt do it as much when car doesnt go in overdrive in 4th gear .. was told this may be a computer programing issue .. 4th my driver side back seat mat is melted to the floor. i was told something under the car may be getting to hot. never got any real answers to my concerns .

Toyota recall: i took my 2007 toyota camry to the local toyota dealership for the recall. they had a 3 phase test and it used a quart of oil after 1000 miles, but i had to bring it in a third time, then they said i failed the test as i went over the mileage for the 3rd visit. i called toyota and they let me file a complaint but also said i failed to meet the qualifications as i went over the mileage even though it had already used a quart of oil the after 1000 miles. i asked for the specific requirements and they were vague and stated the dealership made the determination around toyota's guidelines. i took it again for the last and final oil recall and they then said i went over the mileage for the oil recall test the second time (1700 miles) that it was a bit low and they topped it off as a curtesy, but i was no longer eligible for the recall. today after 3000 miles from my last oil change and their topping it off the oil was down 4 quarts of oil. i feel that that toyota is making this difficult so that a consumer fails the recall and they do not have to fix the pistons on the engine.

My problem is that i cannot back-up using the gear shifter as it's supposed to be used. the mechanic removed the little panel in the front of the gear handle, allowing me to press it manually.i was told it could not be fixed (by him) unless it was happening then. which it was not doing at the time i took it to him. you see, it happens intermittently. sometimes the gear shifter will kick in after i press the brake, and sometimes it will not kick in and that's when i have to push the switch mannually. i am concerned that it will never be able to be fixed because it is an intermittent occurrence.

The car will be running perfect and out of no where my car will start decelerating. it will still lose speed even as i have the gas pedal all the way to the floor. i went from 60mph to 15mph with the pedal all the way to the floor. finally it will start gaining speed but my rpm's hit 6-7 and almost max out. i was on a highway with a semi truck right behind me as this happened causing him to almost hit me. it was hooked up to a diagnostic check and no errors or problems popped up at all. this concerns me because no one can figure out the problem.

2007 toyota camry oil consumption recall was never fixed properly tried to take it to dealership sever times but was told that my car showed as not having that issue power windows recall button gets stuck. oil is constantly running low or empty and sensor is not coming on as well as no oil leaking out of vehicle even after oil change has taken place. have to manually check and add oil to vehicle which is dangerous

Rear window shattered for no reason. can not find or see any place on the window which might have been hit with a stone beebee or paint ball. no obvious point of failure.

Melting dashboard and door panels passenger side visor broken twice after repairs. no one sits in the passenger side and it seems to break on its own

Dash board is very sticky and reflects on to the wind shiledduring day time- an extreme hazard becasue i can't see thru sometimes. toyota has a warranty enhnacement on it, dealer ordered a replacement back on 07/29/2015 and totyota has not fulfilled the order yet. with summer coming, it'll be bright & sunny and a hazard again. any way to expedite that replacement part from totyota. please help.

When driving came up the abs, brake and engine lights. when i check with a toyota dealer, they informed that the problem is the actuator assy brake (cost of $2,251.44 installed). looking for information about the danger of the situation found that the camry hybrid 2007 had this same problem and toyota agreed to extend a 10 year guarantee or 150k miles until 2017. the cost of the repair is not viable for me now, and cannot use the car, given the safety issues involved.

The driver's side sun visor fell down and had to be removed because it was obstructing my view. i was not driving when this happened and no one was in my vehicle.

My 2007 toyota camry le four door automatic sedan has intermittent erratic problems with the instrument control panel: the abs and emergency brake lights come on and the tachometer, thermometer and other gauges bounce up and down this problem started two days ago, the events last for a few seconds to ten minutes, episodes occur sporadically and the car continues to drive normally during the events. i called toyota (800) 331-4331 and asked for a warranty extension to repair the problem. i was instructed to take it to a dealer to identify the problem. on july 1, 2015, central florida toyota in orlando, florida tried to charge me $59.00, i refused to pay and they eventually proceeded to determine the problem without charge. the repair estimate given to me says, "$2,217.05 for abs actuator assy., r&r. the mechanic said this is serious; the brakes can lock up while i am driving. there are numerous identical complaints on the internet but toyota corporate said this problem is not subject to a recall or a reported problem. (just google, "2007 toyota camry abs and brake light on". consumer complainants allege that the bosch abs ecu has a flaw in circuit board design.) this is very expensive problem and so common as to indicate that it is a manufacturer's defect and should be repaired free by toyota. i am the original owner. see sample web sites regarding the exact problem: http://www.camryforums.com/forum/general-tech-8/2007-camry-instrumentation-ghost-39934/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdtgabjrfds

I was trying to back out of an extended parking area at church, a grassy area with pebbles. so, i was backing out very carefully so as not to hit the row of cars parked behind me. suddenly as i was backing out, the toyota began to move backwards very fast with a loud roar (racecar sound). while in a state of terror i had to wrestle the toyota away from the other parked cars as much as i could and keep trying to push the brake pedal down, but the brake pedal wouldn't move. the toyota struck the back of a red car that dragged through the driver's side, from the front of the toyota to the end of the toyota. still wrestling with the wheel of the toyota, i ended up slamming backwards into an 8ft. chain link fence, on the church property. my foot still on the brake, as the toyota slams into the fence. the toyota then stopped. break and accelerator pedal returned to what felt like a normal position. i pulled the toyota up and away from the fence and out a bit away from the row of cars, so that i could get out of the toyota. i then asked the young man who watched it all, if he would go get the owner of the car i had damaged.

Over time, my dashboard has melted and has become sticky. i have tried my best to deal with it, but it is a safety hazard. it causes a reflection of my dashboard on my driver's window, making it hard to see when i am driving (especially when it is sunny...and i live in los angeles, california...where the majority of the time it is sunny.) i called toyota and they claim to have sent out an extended warranty, but i have never received a notice. they claim they can't fix it anymore because of an expired warranty (which i was never notified of...if i was, i would've fixed it asap). it is dangerous to drive due to their faulty manufacturing.

In my 2007 toyota camry the dashboard is melting, because of it the dashboard is covered with sticky shine substance. the substance gives of a strong glare while driving. also the dashboard is becoming brittle.

The primary safety concerns regarding my complaint are a malfunctioning speedometer and a malfunctioning anti-lock braking system; however, there are others, which i will describe. while i was driving home, the instrument panel went completely crazy. specifically, the speedometer went to zero (as i was driving 40mph) the tachometer started bouncing up and down between 0 and 2 or 3, the brake and abs light came on. then, everything went back to normal before i could pull over. i soon realized additional problems like the temp gauge going limp and the air conditioner blowing hot air along with other things. all of this happened all together but on and off at random intervals. i did some research, which led me to the abs issue. according to others with the same problem the repair is $2k-$3k and many had stories of dealers making various costly repairs that didn't fix the problem. i work for minimum wage, this is my only car, and it is 110 degrees in my town. driving without air conditioning here is a safety hazard. one person suggested unplugging the faulty abs module to regain air conditioning. when i did this the air conditioning did in fact start working along with the tachometer and temp gauge. the speedometer, odometer, and seat belt alarm still do not work. furthermore, this is no longer intermittent but constant and the brake light, abs light, and check engine light all remain on. an abs malfunction could be disastrous in wet weather. the lack of a speedometer is a safety problem on city roads for obvious reasons and not to forget the seat belt alarm or the odometer, which no longer logs the mileage. my 2007 camry had low miles for its age (<70k) when these problems first occurred; the car has been garaged and well maintained. i have read many other complaints from those with the very same problems and it seems like a faulty product is to blame.

Dashboard panel gauges started to fluctuate. they bounce up and down. abs and brake lights came on. ac stopped working. i called to toyota recall center and was directed to go to a toyota dealer to have the car inspected in my own cost....... *tr

The dashboard in my 2007 toyota camry is melting and has taken on a very sticky and shiny appearance. every little thing sticks to the dash and it can't be cleaned. not only can't it be cleaned, it also creates a large dangerous glare on the windshield while driving in the day.

Dash board is rather sticky especially during hot days

The dash on my 2007 camry is sticky and soft. it creates a glare that at times makes it difficult to see. it accumulates dust and dirt. i contacted toyota regarding any recall and was told there is nothing. in addition both visors have failed which also appears to be an issue with this year of vehicle.

Sticky dashboard - i've been told by a customer service rep at toyota customer service center (national) to not drive my camry if the dashboard creates a safety hazard do to the glare. so one year later, toyota still hasn't replaced the dashboard... 24 months after they announced the extension on the warranty... help

Sticky dashboard, glare. driving hazard, obstruction of driver's view. kenny kent toyota dealer said they could not help me. gave me 800-331-4331 toyota customer service. spoke to 2 people. i did not receive warranty notification. cannot drive car when sun is shining. told i will have to pay for dash replacement.

The dashboard is melting which is causing a terrible glare through the windshield making it impossible to see the road.i was told if it was a safety issue it would be covered but since they didn't put it as a safety issue. its not covered. this is a major safety issue, due to the glare reflecting from the melting dashboard makes it very difficult to see. how this was not a safety issue to begin with surprises me.

Started the car and noticed the abs and parking brake light were on. tachometer was jumping between 0 and 1000rpm. air conditioner wasn't working. drove the car a bit with no change except the tachometer jumping a bit higher than 1 and dropping back to 0. speedometer wouldn't move at all. after a bit more driving, the abs and parking brake lights turned off and the gauges resumed normal operation. air conditioner also started working. since this initial problem, the gauges and lights have been operating with the same inconsistency (jumping tachometer, speedometer sitting at 0, abs and parking brake lights on).

The sticky and melting dashboard. the dash feels like clay and is pliable, it can easily be peeled away. at first we thought wiping it down would help but it seems over time the dashboard cannot be cleaned, too sticky. it's extremely annoying because it's actually so shiny that we get a lot of glare especially on a bright day. this is becoming a really big issue because it reflects onto the window when driving, which could cause an accident. this is clearly a manufacturer's defect/issue that toyota needs to own up to and fix before someone get seriously hurt. *tr

The dashboard on my car gets sticky from the heat and cannot be cleaned or treated. depending on the time of day and the direction of the sun it becomes very difficult to see out of the windshield because of the glare off of the glossy/sticky dashboard. i thought this was unique to me until i performed an internet search. when i called the local toyota dealership in fort worth, tx, they told me that they had never heard of it. i then contacted a trim shop who told me that they hear about it all of the time. i think toyota needs to come up with a solution to solve this problem so that it is safe for my family to drive. thank you for your consideration and help in finding a solution. *tr

The dashboard in my camry is tacky and sticky. i have the service bulletin but they are telling me it is expired. it is really a bad issue. toyota has made billions from selling cars in america alone and they allowed defective materials to used in the construction of their cars and that is not fair to the consumer. this should be a total recall in place of a service bulletin. this could be a safety hazard should someone come in contact with this defective material in a crash.

Excessive glare on windshield limiting visibility while driving. from news reports as seen on local nbc-tv affiliate (july 31,2019) toyota admitted that melting dashboards contributed to this safety concern/ windshield glare effect. the melting dashboard had been reported to toyota (a few months ago for the second time - originally reported in 2014 and toyota indicated they will review). the second notification resulted in the response that toyota was not aware of the issue. issue has been getting worse over the past few years.

My dash is melting, sticky and visibility is impaired by glare. i just found this information out through a friend. i placed a call to toyota they told me there was a recall on my dash. i did not receive said recall. this glare is impairing my visibility. toyota said the recall was out of warranty. they will not honor repair. again i did not receive recalls. i have been at the same address for 20 years. i did receive the other 2 recalls and they have been completed. now ask yourself if i addressed the other two recalls why would i not have addressed this one. the camry has 76680 miles on it it has been very well taken care of. i have been the only owner. i think needs to be looked into. safety hazard work with me here.

My car has a sticky dashboard and it's slowly deteriorating. in the summer time it's very sticky and everything sticks to it.

My dashboard is melting and cracking. pieces are starting to fall off. not sure how this may affect inside electrical components as they may be exposed throgh the cracks. in casa of an accident the dasboard may crumble and pieces may cause body damage to face and eyes. toyota knows of this problem but in taking to much time to make repairs. in fact no repairs have been done in my local dealer to any of the afected units due to lack of parts. this has been going on for about a year.

Abs and brake lights came suddenly on and the speedometer stopped working. i tested the break and i had to push hard to make it work. i was on the highway and at 65 mph. i got really scared and after a while everything came back to normal. it happened again today and happening frequently.

Sticky, shiny and cracked dashboard. the dashboard is melting and is so shiny that i can not see because the glare. this is very dangerous.

My car was purchased used in 2009. i've kept up with the maintenance and other issues such as the engine coils going out. today, my car stopped as i was driving on a busy street. no, there wasn't a crash but there could have been. the car is a 2007. luckily i stopped in front of the toyota dealership. i found out that my transmission went out. it went out with no warning prior to today. i was told it would cost $4200 to repair. i don't have that kind of money. i'm still shocked that the transmission died. i purchased a toyota because my previous car, a chevy, was giving me so many problems. when asked why would it just die without warning...i was told it just did. there's no way of knowing. i'm not understanding that when i go for regular maintenance. *tr

Melting/decomposing dashboard car was purchase from my son-in-law/eldest daughter (bought from his mother new) for by youngest daughter. after a month or two after the purchase, i noticed that the interior was pitting and was all marked up and literally decomposing. i wrongly blamed my daughter and her friends for this apparent abuse until hearing about this issue online. after my prophetic apology to my daughter, i asked her to take it into the dealer to "get the ball rolling". i wanted her to learn how to do this on her own. several weeks later after being assured that the replacement dash would be at the dealer, they told her that it was the wrong color and would have to be re-ordered. after taking the vehicle to the dealer several times and several months after this whole ordeal was started, they explained that there were no dashes in the us whatsoever. i then decided to call toyota us directly to explain our situation. i was told the same thing and they verified that the actual order date was march 8th 2016 (what??) and that the company contracted to produce these dashes currently has a 6-18 month backlog. i then asked if there happened to be an airbag issue and the dash was damaged would i have to wait to have this repaired. they said not likely...so what this tells me is that the dashboards are out there "somewhere" but not eligible for this particular recall and out-of-warranty campaign (different bucket). i have also learned that this campaign can be transferred to the new owner (provide them with the case #). i also learned that toyota is not that high quality, begin all- end all uber auto manufacturers that all of the magazines lead us to believe that it is.

Takata recall - my dash has such a bad glare i have to place something over it so i can see safely. the dash is melting so much i cannot even get it cleaned because the dash wipes off with the cleaning rags. it is melting into my sun visor and has a strange odor in the car. this is ridiculous that consumers have to suffer and be blinded, this is a major safety issue esp early in the morning when the sub is so bright! the dash is peeling off in places as well, it pops up and has pieces coming off or wiping off as if they were boiled and very fragile. i have attached photos of the glare, the stickiness that makes everything stick to it and you cannot clean the dash at all or it smudges off as mentioned earlier. the photos also show the dash is melting into my sun shades.

My 2007 toyota camry se has dash board melted with heat from sun. the plastic coating has turned into a sticky glue like surface, if i touch the surface with hand my hand gets stuck to it like super glue. front dash board now reflect direct light from sun and creates a very bright glare and affects driver and front passenger visibility of road. i have called toyota company and they declined to offer any help because my car is more then 3 years old and it has morethen 36000 miles on it. this is a safety issue and i hope to see the response from manufacture thanks. *tr

The dashboard is sticky and scratches easy. toyota melting on the dashboard.

My dashboard is sticky and seems to be melting has a glare in the windshield, and the side window casing over airbags along windshield windows is warped and keep poping out exposeing wires.i bought this car one year ago and as i was told it has never been in a wreck. i don't have money to fix these problems so what am i to do?

My mechanic showed me all 4 struts(f&r) are leaking too much and that they have to be replaced. i called manhattan beach toyota and they said it is not covered under any recall or warranty & it will cost over $1400.00 to replace. it took the mechanic over hours to complete replacing all 4 struts. i am really shocked by this finding, it shouldn't have happened, and toyota should take care of this problem. *tr

I bought my car new in palm desert california in 2007. in november 2013, i moved to pinellas park florida and my dashboard became very sticky. it has progressively gotten worse in the last year. i have since found out that this is due to a defect in the actual dashboard. the dash board is melting. i want to have it replaced. my car has under 45,000 miles on it. it is in beautiful condition. how do i go about making toyota responsible for the replacement of the dashboard?

My driver side sun visor will not stay up. it is making it difficult to drive and i am bumping me head on it. it is very irritating.

The dashboard on my 2007 toyota camry is melting and is very sticky, especially during the summer months i have read several posts regarding this very same issue and notice that no one has had this issue corrected by toyota for free, obviously this is a vehicle manufacture defect that toyota needs to deal with before someone gets hurt. i purchased a toyota vehicle because of the reputation on quality & customer service, but until now i've not seen either of these. toyota needs to stand behind their product & make it right for all affected consumers. it is not possible to clean dashboard at all. everything sticks to it and if you touch it with your finger nail-sticky chunks come out..... the glare is awful and since both of my visors have broken off i cant use those to help...

The dashboard glare and sticky falling apart condition is obviously an issue. we were never informed that toyota was replacing these dashboards. i have a 2007 camry with only 80,000 miles on it and want to have the dashboard replaced. obviously they know it was dangerously shiny and sticky as they replace them for 10 years. the national toyota people told me it was too late for them to help me even though they know it's an issue! what if anything can i do?

The driver and passenger side visor failed on me when i put it down. this seems to be a common issue with the sun visors. this issue can be a potential hazard as it obstructs my view during normal operation of the vehicle. i have to move the visor to the side in order to have a full view ahead. if the visor is left in front of me then it is hard to see traffic and traffic lights in front of me and can potentially cause an accident. my son in-law has a similar car and received a notice from toyota providing an additional warranty for this same issue but it was only specific to his vin number. if this is a common issue why do they not send it out to everyone. *tr

My 2007 toyota, dashboard is melting,i have contacted toyota about this problem back in 2012,i am still waiting for my dash to be replaced.

My 2007 toyota camry dashboard is sticky and melting- it needs to be replaced.

Toyota issued a recall for the melting dash on my camry and i've been on a waiting "list" with the dealer for more than a year to no avail. i need to sell my car and cannot because of the dash. toyota said they would accept the car on a trade in, but deduct the cost of the dash repair from my trade in value! how can i be liable for the cost of a manufacturer defect?! i"m so dissappointed in toyota.

The dashboard has become sticky and glossy, which puts a glare onto the windshield. this makes it difficult to see on a sunny day. part of dashboard came off when a bug got stuck to the dashboard and was removed while cleaning vehicle. saw many reports of this and talk of a recall, but no recalls show up when i enter my information on the car.
