We have classified the 39 complaints from 2015 RAM 1500 about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
Fca issued a software update known at "aem" after they lost their class action lawsuit. i had my truck updated on 5/29/19 with the "aem", rotary shift autopark recall update, the seat belt recall update, airbag recall update, and the tailgate recall update. i also had a catastrophic egr system failure that made my truck inoperable for nearly three weeks. the vehicle is now utterly unpredictable. after the initial start, i randomly have no low-end power. the vehicle randomly lurches forward at full speed when i press the accelerator from a full stop. this morning i was turning left from a dead stop into traffic. i pressed the accelerator all the way to the floor and it barely inched forward for several seconds. suddenly it hit full power and launched into the roadway, barely in time to keep from being t-boned by oncoming traffic. soon thereafter i was in the middle of an intersection waiting for oncoming traffic to stop so that i could turn left. the light turned yellow and traffic stopped so i tried to turn. my truck stumbled and barely moved until it again, launched forward at full power causing the read end to skid out to the side and strike the curb of the sidewalk. additionally, the vehicle now has a completely random shift pattern. when cruising at 55 mph the engine may be running at 1500 rpm or it may be 2250 rpm. the inability to shift correctly at high speeds means that i cannot reliably merge with, or overtake traffic. it also means that my truck cannot reliably tow a load without posing a threat to the general public. it's not predictable and it's dangerous.
After having the emissions adjustments from the fca settlement with the government i notice at times now when trying to accelerate from a stop it hesitates on take off now and takes a min before seeming to get the power to go. significant acceleration delay, lots of lag . please look at article on tlftrucks.com so many other people saying same thing please help !!!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact stated that the vehicle did not respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the failure occurred after a software update was performed by auburn chrysler dodge (1901 grass valley hwy, auburn, ca 95603). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
After resolving recall for emmsuons on my 2015 ram 1500 ecodiesel, the throttle response is lagging. after i make a turn onto a road the truck fails to accelerate when the gas peddle is being pushed. it has about a 3-4 second leg time. it is especially bad in a 90 degree turn going through a green light onto another road. i've almost been rear ended by trafficking that was originally 150-200 feet away when i originally turned onto the road. the lag is also noticed in passing situations.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. when the engine was cold, the accelerator pedal would not respond. the contact had to apply excessive pressure to the accelerator pedal to increase the speed. the contact stated that the vehicle would jolt and the tires squealed. the vehicle was taken to dishman dodge ram chrysler jeep (7700 e sprague ave, spokane valley, wa 99212), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact called the manufacturer and was advised to call nhtsa. the failure mileage was unknown.
My vehicle is a ram ecodiesel. fca was caught installing software to fraudulently report emissions data and was ordered by the epa to install new software to bring emissions into compliance. i got this so-called "repair" in august in so doing, my vehicle (and many others) developed an acceleration lag that is quite dangerous -- particularly when the engine is just started. you begin to pull into traffic and then the vehicle just stops for several seconds before acceleration. i have complained to fca. fca is aware of the problem but has no fix at this time. i have asked for loaner until they have a fix and this has been denied. i have asked for a replacement vehicle but they say this vehicle is operating "as designed." i am currently going through arbitration and will file a lawsuit if unsuccessful. it is clear that fca doesn't really care about customer safety and won't do the right thing unless compelled to do so. i can provide copies of the bulletin saying there is no fix, emails i have sent to fca, repair notes from the dealership saying they acknowledge the problem but there is no fix or anything else needed, though i suspect others have already supplied this so it wold e redundant. if you want it, please advise. bottom line is that i do not believe this vehicle is safe to drive.
Ecodiesel - following recall aem (approved emissions modification) update, throttle response is extremely poor at times. when turning onto a roadway from a stop the vehicle is sometimes very slow to accelerate, risk of collision due to being unable to increase to safe speed. when trying to accelerate under this condition the vehicle will suddenly abruptly accelerate which sometimes results in wheel spin (loss of traction). this happens in dry and wet conditions.
After completing the emissions recall on the eco diesel a significant lag in acceleration has occurred. this lag impacts ability to keep with the flow of traffic when merging etc. this is a safety hazard as it is unpredictable and driver cannot determine acceleration by simply pressing the pedal down - sometimes with a 5-10 second delay in response to accelerate. this can occur from a stop, and merging onto a highway, from a stop light and making a uturn in the authorized areas, when merging onto a freeway ramp.
On 7/29/19 at approximately 12:30 pm, was traveling between 60 - 65 mph, west bound on interstate 40 at n.c. mm 31, the truck lost power (limp in mode), the check engine & service automatic throttle control system lights came on. noticed a small amount of white smoke emitting from the underside of the truck. coasted off of the interstate and came to rest in a used car dealership's parking lot. turned the truck off and opened the hood where i found an approximately 8' flame projecting from under the plastic manifold cover. doused the flame with a bottle of drinking water and took the plastic cover off where i found the wiring harness sheathing engulfed in flames. extinguished that with an abc dry chemical extinguisher. currently the truck is at waynesville ram with no updates as of yet. had the egr recall completed on 6/19/19 at waynesville ram and had noticed decreased power and fuel mileage since but the decreases were minor and just accepted as fact from the recall. i am very concerned at present after researching this situation and conversing with others who have experienced very similar events with the same motor.
After receiving the updated engine programming recall on my ecodiesel ram, the throttle response is dangerously slow when accelerating from a dead stop. there is a several second delay from me applying pressure to the throttle pedal and the engine reacting and accelerating. it's very difficult to judge when turning into traffic because of this delay. could easily cause someone to be rear-ended because the truck does not accelerate as expected. this was not the case prior to the recall.
2015 ram eco diesel. recently, ram and jeep were involved in "in re: chrysler-dodge-jeep "ecodiesel" mdl," which resolved legal claims asserting that the vehicles do not comply with federal and state emissions regulations and that fiat chrysler made misrepresentations to consumers regarding the vehicles. i pulled this info from the eco diesel settlement website. in response to the above, customers were to get (3) things; (1) v08 software update; (2) money, dependent on your ownership status; and (3) a 10 warranty extension. i had the v08 software update completed at the end of may, 2019. since that update, my vehicle has had poor performance with lack of power and acceleration. within a week of having the update done, my check engine light was on with the electronic throttle warning light on as well. i took the vehicle to the dealership and they fixed the issue; however, the lack of acceleration and power remained. through june and july this lack of power and acceleration continued. i then took my vehicle in to the dealership towards the end of july and they opened a star report and told me this recall is having negative effects on a lot people's vehicles. i then took the truck back and was driving at the end of july when the electronic throttle control warning light came on again. this time, there was a smell similar to burning electrical. i pulled over and the within minutes the truck was engulfed in flames. fire personal were called and the fire was put out, but not before it engulfed the engine compartment and front of the cabin in flames. i filed a claim with my insurance and contacted fca. both parties sent fire investigators out to look at the vehicle. fca says, with the info at hand, the fire can't be associated with a manufacturing or assembly error. i also contacted the class action attorneys and sent them information from the fire as well.
My 2015 ram 1500 ecodiesel recently received the v08 recall. two weeks after the recall the truck broke down on the side of the road on july 01. the truck was in the shop until 07-19. i drove the truck home from the shop and did not notice extreme lag at that time. the. i got i to the truck at the dealer the truck had been idling and was almost to operation temperature of 200' fahrenheit. the next morning upon first start up i drove the truck and was immediately almost in a accident as when the truck was cold with temps below 150' there was an almost 5 second lag from then the gas pedal was pressed and the truck would accelerate. the truck has severe lag upon acceleration and will not accelerate reliably until the truck has warmed up to almost 200' which takes almost 15 min. the dealer has admitted that there is something wrong but has no way of fixing the problem as the truck is not producing codes to aid in diagnostics. in my opinion the truck is unsafe to drive and should be fixed by fiat chrysler.
After recall v08 /v11 updates: severly delayed trottle response when accelerating. from a stop to actual throttle responding to 3/4 pressure is at a minimum of 30-40 feet.
I had the recent recall done on my ecodiesel for the emissions failure according to the epa and ever since ive had the recall ive had roughly when i start it in the morning about a 4-5 second speed delay or pedal lag even if i push the pedal to the floor. after it warms up and ive been driving it a while it improves but the delay is still there even after driving for my job, i'm a pilot car driver/escort for oversized loads, and after driving all day i still have a 1-3 second delay no matter how hard or soft i press the pedal. ive taken it to the dealer and best they told me is either fca will have to come out with an update or to go buy a pedal commander or something similar to immediately correct the issue but could possibly void even the extended warranty i got with the emissions recall. which if i had known all of this i would said to hell with the any recalls. i feel this is going to cause me to wreck by either hesitating because i know theres the lag or im going to pull out and not be able to get up to speed within a reasonable distance.
After the v08 recall the drivability of vehicle is dangerous. the fuel consumption and the lag of the engine is also a huge concern but it handles totally different. while it still seems decently reliable, for now, everyday unsureness of trying to anticipate how the vehicle will handle during driving is the primary factor.
Post aem update there is a severe lag in throttle response. after leaving the dealership/recall update i almost caused an accident due to the slow response after pressing the throttle to the floor. the truck just sat there for a few seconds before slowly moving. when trying to get up to speed to merge onto interstate, pre recall update, the truck was quick to shift and gain speed. today it had a hard time getting up to 65, even when accelerator pushed to the floor. i was very nervous that the semi truck coming up behind me was going to rear ended me. it seems as if the recall update both changed response time in acceleration and the shifting patterns of the truck. both of which have made my truck unreliable and dangerous to drive. the recall update was performed yesterday, july 2. i have never had any issues with acceleration previously. i spoke with the dealership, was told there was nothing they could do. i filed a complaint with fca case # 59112985. thru will 'look into it'. i have read in a number of forums that i am not alone with this complaint. there are now a number of people driving vehicles that suddenly do not preform as they once did. when you are used to a vehicle to have some get up and go when accelerating you drive it as such, then suddenly you find that your get up and go, up and left, too late causing you to be a slow moving/delayed danger to yourself and others.
I have the ram ecodiesel 2015 model. it always had a slight hesitation in the accelerator which i consider normal. after having the software update for the emissions standards i now have a 3-5 second delay in acceleration which has caused me several times to almost be involved in accidents
After the reflash of ecu/tcm on ram eco diesel for emissions the truck is dangerous to drive with excessive turbo lag when cold. it often hesitated several seconds before moving.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact received a letter from the manufacturer regarding an emissions update that was required via a lawsuit against them. the contact had the emissions updated at cortese chrysler jeep dodge ram (2400 w henrietta rd, #2324, rochester, ny 14623, (800) 952-7892) in june of 2019. since then, the contact stated that the vehicle's overall performance decreased by 25%. the vehicle also lost power, lost acceleration, and the cruise control operated intermittently. the manufacturer was contacted and a case was opened. the manufacturer informed the contact to call the dealer and inform them of the failures. the same dealer was contacted and stated that everything was fine; however, the contact informed them that the vehicle would hesitate when the accelerator pedal was depressed and then accelerate suddenly. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was operating as intended and closed the case. the failure mileage was 62,000.
Was driving down a highway and all the warning lights lit up like a christmas tree on the dash. then the vehicle started to slow down by itself and then started to take off by itself. as i was slowing down it leaped forward into oncoming traffic when i was trying to turn off the highway. this is the second time this has happened with this vehicle. the first time this happened the dealership couldn't make it repeat so they sent me on my way with no resolution. this time, i got an extreme amount of attitude from the dealership saying i was causing the problems and that i didn't want any help after they mentioned they were going to charge me. i'm surprised they let me have that truck back as dangerous as it is but they certainly did. this thing is like a time-bomb. just waiting for the next incident and there certainly will be one. they would not let me have the paperwork this last time because i would not sign it.
On 3 different times my accelerator pedal has gotten stuck and accelerating to about 90 plus mph while driving. i had to stomp on it several times to get it unstuck while riding the brake, i have read where other people have had the same problem as mine. however the dodge dealer said they have not gotten any recalls on this problem and can not do anything for me until there is a recall. so paying out my pocket to replace the throttle body before i am in and accident and injury or kill someone and or myself. thankfully there wasn't a school bus dropping or picking up kids because i had go around vehicles as my ram truck accelerated on it's own after releasing the accelerator pedal.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 2500. while driving 73 mph with the cruise control engaged, the cruise control did not disengage when the brake pedal was depressed. instead, the vehicle accelerated to 87 mph and the auto throttle warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control) at autonation (11200 n fwy service rd e, fort worth, tx 76177, 817-642-7894); however, the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 76,419. *tt updated 11/28/18*jb
I have received various recall notices on this vehicle which i would like someone to look into this to see if this car qualifies as a lemon. these items have been fixed by the different dealer ships, but have more than 5 recalls is a bit too much.
Twice with in a period of three weeks the same issue/failure has occured. "service electronic throttle control". both times the issue occured during rush hour traffic, at freewat speeds, while driving on a freeway. bith occurences resilyed in total loss of acceleration. i was left with limited ability to manuever on the freeway, to the right lanes, as well as limited ability to maneuver and avoid traffic from behind, as well to switch lanes to exit the freeway safely. once exited he vehicle would only reach a top speed of 39mph. bith times the dealership reported the issue as an egr valve problem.
Issue: vehicle shifted out of park into reverse while idling with driver door opened. truck began to roll backwards on a flat grade and hit a honda civic in the rear bumper with the opened drivers door which folded back onto the front drivers fender. know one was in either vehicle and no injuries occurred. this happened on the shoulder of a residential street. i got out of the truck (vehicle running) walked up the sidewalk to the home heard a crunch, looked back and saw the vehicles together. i was away from the vehicle at lease 3 minutes before the accident. the truck was parked ciddy corner to the rear of the honda approximately 10 feet away from each other. i would have known immediately if the truck was in reverse after getting out of it as it would have been moving. it wasn't until a minute or two that it began to move into reverse. it went back 10 feet and was stopped with the drivers door hooked onto the rear bumper of the civic. this issue is due to a bad control dial on the dash in my opinion.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control). riverhead chrysler dodge jeep ram (624 w main street, riverhead, ny) refused to perform the repair because the vehicle was not purchased from them, and also the part was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect. *tt updated 10/15/18*jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system). the vehicle was taken to staunton chrysler dodge jeep ram (907 w frontage rd, staunton, il) to be repaired. two months later, while driving 61 mph with the cruise control activated, the speed increased to 70 mph down a hill. the contact stated that the vehicle also made an abnormal noise while driving up and down the hill. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they stated that it was normal for the vehicle to accelerate approximately 12 mph while driving on a decline. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 28,567. *tt *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while backing out of the garage, the contact placed the gear shifter in drive. the contact slightly depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle accelerated at rapid speed. the contact was able to gain control of the vehicle; however, while the brake pedal was depressed, the engine continued to rev. the contact attempted to drive the vehicle again, but while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle accelerated at 7 mph. the electronic throttle control indicator illuminated. the contact called york dodge chrysler jeep ram at (928) 433-3925 (500 prescott lakes pkwy, prescott, az 86301) where a diagnostic appointment was scheduled for the following day. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 29,300.
P0299 under boost codes. after being thrown into limp mode and almost getting me and my family killed i got my dodge ecodiesel to the dealership. said its a software issue and there is no fix. was told to that its fine after they just cleared the engine light. great customer service!! just send them back out in the death trap.
I have had multiple issues with my 2015 ram 1500 ecodiesel gas pedal getting stuck. first time was on 7/07/17. i wanted to make a left turn on a stop sign. as i touched the pedal with my foot, it sunk to the bottom and the truck started accelerating like crazy, the tires squeaked and the truck tilted to the left. the rmp went up to 3 and the lightning bolt message lit up. i thought we would flip or crash into something but luckily i managed to get the truck under control and ended up on the side of the road. put the truck in park as the pedal stayed in the sinking position. had my four children with me in the truck, they all started crying hysterically and kept asking, "mom what is going on with our truck?" about 3 min. later it was released. brought the truck to the dealership and got the accelerator sensor replaced. the same problem repeated on 7/16/17. this time on a highway while driving at about 60mph. brought back to the same dealership, was told that they could not duplicate the problem. was asked to take a picture or video if the problem occurs again. are they serious? how can you do that when you are trying to get your vehicle under control and are scared for your life? same issue on 8/15/17 as we came out of a driveway unto a windy road at about 15mph. the vehicle accelerated like crazy almost causing us to hit the guardrail on the side. good thing there was no oncoming traffic and we managed to stop the truck on the side of the road. the truck is back at the dealership. they want me to come and pick it up but i am scared for my life to drive in it. they suggested that i come and drive it with a tech. hoping it would duplicate. there is nothing specific that causes it to happen. it just happens out of nowhere, no specific speed, place or time. i just want a safe car for my family. i have 4 children that drive with me every day, can't risk their lives.
My 2015 ram 1500 ecodiesel has lost function of the gas pedal three times. each time the loss is preceded with a "service electronic throttle control" message. the local dealership has not been able to address the problem in the first 2 service attempts and the issue has occurred within 200 driving miles, mostly highway. the first 2 times this has happened the vehicle has been driving on city streets, moving under 30mph and generally decelerating under braking. the 3rd time this occurred i was traveling 70 mph on the freeway with moderate throttle input and the throttle completely lost function. this resulted in the need for an emergency exit from the freeway while coasting with no control of the throttle, a dangerous situation to say the least. the date entered below is the date of the last occurrence on the freeway.
Was on the on ramp passing a semi when i eased off the accelerator but the gas pedal stayed on the floor. i let off the gas pedal at approximately 40 mph, the truck continued to speed up until it hit approximately 80 mph when a service throttle body message lit up on the dash and released the gas pedal. the dealer currently has the truck for day number 4. they can't find the source of the problem even though it threw a code when it happened. the truck is brand new 2015 ram 1500 with approximately 1250 miles on it at the time of the incident.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving approximately 70 mph, there was a drastic reduction in speed and various warning indicators flashed on the instrument panel. the contact had to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road from the middle lane of a major highway. the contact restarted the vehicle and took it to the dealer for diagnostic testing. in addition, the vent controls failed to work for the air conditioner and heating without warning. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
Please see complaint i sent to chrysler with documents. your list before only let me select 4 topics that i was having issues with. *tr
On 5 different occasions this truck has gone into what the dealership is referring to as limp mode. no matter what speed you are traveling the truck involuntarily down shifts into a speed averaging 20 miles per hour without warning. this happened twice while traveling on the highway doing approximately 65 miles an hour. the other three times the speed went from 30-45 miles per hour down to 25 miles per hour. when this happens the dash board lights up indicating an electronic throttle light problem. each time this happened the truck was taken back to the dealership that we purchased it from. the first time a pcm update for the voltage code 18-19-04-eh which did not remedy the defect, just a few days later, on march 10, 2016 the vehicle suffered the same defect which created a potentially hazardous situation since the vehicle was being operated on a major roadway. again, freedom chrysler looked at the vehicle and replaced the boost sensor (68211211aa sensor-intake manifold) again 1 day after this was returned to us it went back into limp mode. this time (3-21-16) the incidents were reported to chrysler at 800-423-6343 and we were given a case number and a case representative. the case manager offered at this time to reimburse us 1 months payment due to the lose use of the vehicle. we declined payment until we knew the vehicle was fixed properly and that no other issues would arise. the fourth time the truck went into this mode all of the injectors were replaced. 1 day later there was a very load noise coming from the truck so it was returned yet again. this time freedom chrysler said we had received a defective injector and they changed one of the new injectors out for another one. we are not willing to risk ours/others lives by driving this truck. we have asked freedom chrysler and chrysler motors to replace this vehicle to no avail.
White stopped in traffic on a highway, after removing my foot from brake pedal, vehicle quickly accelerated without me putting my foot on the gas pedal. check engine light and electronic throttle control light came on soon after. vehicle would continue to accelerate (without me placing my foot on gas pedal) when i removed my foot from brake pedal. vehicle is presently at dodge dealership in vancouver, wa.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 dodge ram 1500. the contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, the vehicle switched to 4-wheel drive without being prompted. in addition, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle launched forward extremely fast without warning. the vehicle crashed into the rear driver side of another vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. the driver sustained a fracture to the t12 vertebrae in his mid back that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v534000 (air bags). the failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
2015 ram 1500. consumer writes in regards to rental vehicle acceleration and brake system issues. *smd the consumer stated performance and reaction time was limited by the computer program in acceleration. the consumer stated the vehicle would not accelerate above 1,000 rpm, until the accelerator was released. *jb
It all started around 850 miles with this vehicle. i got into it and put it into drive and the car accelerated without my foot on the pedal. i took it to shuman chrysler in walled lake and they could not find the problem. a month later the problem happened again. i got into the vehicle at work and put it into drive and the truch accelerated without foot on pedal. took directly to shuman chrysler in walled lake michigan and they told me after fixing it that the problem was in the pedal. the vehicle said something else something like the electronic throttle control was bad..
