When coming to a stop, vehicle fuel shifts in tank forcing vehicle unexpectedly forward under braking. if unprepared for the shift, which only happens under braking when the truck downshifts, the truck will overpower the currently applied brakes taking more time to stop. this can result in a collision with a stopped vehicle or object if the driver does not apply harder braking.
Lack of acceleration from still to passing gear. rpms go up and slowly accelerate
There isn't enough room for the entire ordeal, but i will do my best to congest it. june 19th: went to dealer ship with check engine light, nobody there knew what it meant, and they erased it and told me not to worry about it unless it comes back. july 3rd: vacation trip, about 2 hours into driving, truck looses throttle, solid check engine light comes on, "service electronic throttle control" smoke coming from engine bay, smelled like plastic to me. found what looked like a melted quarter sized boiling spot on the manifold? i believe. checked that engine light was solid, and on june 19th was told if light is solid, it's safe to drive, if it's blinking shut off imediately. it was solid. vacation's over, drive back to vegas at about 40-50mph (truck wouldn't go any faster) on blinkers the whole way with my fiancee in the passanger seat, and 3 year old son in the back seat. an hour ourside of vegas, truck was throwing flame balls and sparks out the rear, immediately pulled off to the desert, and evacuated my son and fiancee. grabbed red bulls and green teas to douse the fire. got the fire out after several minutes. if i didn't notice the sparks or fireballs, or if a fuel line caught on fire, we could have died. the entire underside of the truck was burned and the dpf on the exhaust was glowing bright red still. i spoke with an original engineer on the truck, through a facebook group for these trucks, which he states 2 weeks prior when i took the truck in, the egr must have started malfunctioning, and they shouldn't have brushed me off. which led to it sticking open, and blowing a hole in the intake manifold (the burning plastic smell) when i was driving back to safety (in the middle of nowhere), a regeneration occured causing the dpf to fill up, and essentially explode, and catch the truck on fire. truck is awaiting reps from detroit.
Vehicle in park on level city street. stepped out of vehicle. vehicle suddently accelerated at seeminly full power in reverse. crossed into intersection and hit by traffic, continued across intersection, came to rest in yard of house opposite.
I have multiple issues but the scariest is after setting the emergency brakes and putting my 2015 ram 1500 in park my truck will roll up to 4 feet. this happens almost every time i put it in park. every time i park it i worry that it will roll and hit a person or another vehicle.

I to the dealership for a check engine light being on. it turned out to be a oil pressure sensor. they did an inspection on the truck and found the pinion nut loose and leaking oil. they said it was safety recall p77 and fixed the problem. i looked up p77 recall and it did not include 2015 trucks. i'm concerned about how man other people might have this problem that could cause an accident.
Passenger side rear axle shaft wearing prematurely, where the outer axle bearing rolls on the shaft, the normal, intact bearing is wearing a deep groove into the shaft. appears that the shaft is abnormally soft or abnormal steel makeup. axle has had normal maintinance, has not been overloaded, has had adequate oil level in axle housing its whole life, and the driver side shaft is not wearing abnormally
Parked truck in driveway. driveway has slight incline. put truck into park and went inside house. neighbor came over told me my truck was in middle of road. light snow on drive. looked at tracks confirmed vehicle rolled away not slide. pulled truck back up driveway and put truck in park. while still in vehicle truck again rolled away. confirmed this by looking out door and seeing tired rolling. put in and out several times before the truck stopped rolling.
Have a vibration or shimmy in the right rear tire, wheel or axle. have put on new tires and rotated/balanced them. dodge dealership has looked it over and tells me no problem. the 2014s had a shimmy problem. i've read many reviews of others having the same problem at or above 50 mph. approximate date of occurrence below.
Truck was in park was out of truck for about 15 minutes. truck starting moving hit end of bridge and caused approx. $2,500.00 damage to truck and it was still in park. was looking at bridge at job site and had walked behind truck talking to job supervisor and i\ they told me my truck was moving. lucky nobody was in front, could have hurt somebody!! there was 2 witness to this beside me. ram has a safety issue with this. i went to dealer and was told to apply parking brake ever time i exit pickup, this is a problem and they know it why should i apply brake when i park what is park for. they didn't havr there new pickups on lot parking brakes apply?
Ram 1500 big horn was stopped in front of my home garage, idling in park. i dismounted to close both outside mirrors when the vehicle shifted itself to drive. it proceeded into the garage and house wall causing extensive structural damage. see nhtsa investigation pe16-014 for similar accidents.
Traveling on highway in winter conditions the trucks anti-lock/abs/traction control /4x4 and cruise control all stopped working and the dash warning lights started flashing. at 65 mph while accelerating with traffic up hill on a corner on wintery roads the 4 wheel drive just stopped working and the traction control was lost. the truck went into several 360 degree spins and cam to a stop on the far right shoulder. no other vehicles were struck and i was able to avoid the bridge abutment. after taking the vehicle to lithia dodge of wasilla i was told the warranty was expired (48,100 miles at the time of the incident) but the dealer could not get the truck in for over a week. after the dealer looked at the truck they replaced the r-rear speed sensor and said that was the issue. i went to pick up the truck and the issue was not resolved. i left the truck again at the dealer. they then indicated the issue was in the wiring harness. i took the truck home to inspect the wiring. i tested the continuity of the conductors that the dealer had indicated were the issue and found no defects. i took the truck back and explained my findings, they indicated that the tech had "guessed" that the issue was the harness. after returning to get my truck the dealer said it was repaired, they had performed unauthorized work, cut my harness and spliced as they said that was the issue, but the issue was not fixed. i took the truck to another lithia dealer who indicated the harness was damaged beyond repair by the dealer, you cant splice the harness(?) according to the other dealer and it needs to be replaced in whole. they could not work on it any more to fix the issue due to the harness issue caused by the unauthorized repair performed by the other lithia dealer. truck still has no 4x4, abs, traction control or cruise control. this failurecould be a severe safety issue and result in accidents.
Put truck in park and exited vehicle and it rolled away in drive. ran after it for 2 blocks until it jumped a curb and halted. no injuries but could have been serious.
I put my truck in park on the electronic transmission control with engine running walked away about 20 yards when the truck started rolling i tried to run after it but only got myself hurt and the truck took out a mailbox and fence.these electronic transmission shifters are not to be trusted. im now afraid of it its not to be trusted i always make sure the emergency brake is on.i was lucky when it rolled across the road it did not hit another car

To whom it may concern, i own a 2015 ram 1500 big horn crew cab with 8 speed (8hp70) transmission. the truck intermitently issues check engine light and goes away a few times through out the day and or will stay off. obdii code p1d8c is stored currently in the car. this is the code that says (parking prawl selonoid in open position) this is close if not the same issue in 8hp70 transmission in other vehicles of other years that have been recalled. this is a safety issue because one day i wouldn't know if the truck is actually in park mechanically or not. currently i have not seen a recall for my current year model truck but bringing it to your attention as there are same or similar recalls for the same transmission in other models. check engine light has been on when in motion and also when parked, sometimes it'll go away both while moving or parked.

Vehicle is a 2015 ram 1500 truck with 8-speed transmissions and "dial-a-gear" electronic gear selector. the vehicle was driven to a gas station and pulled up next to a gas pump. driver exited the vehicle, and realized that they needed to pull forward about 2 more feet to better align the truck with the gas pump. the driver got back into the truck, turned the knob to "drive," and pulled forward. once the truck was stopped, the driver turned the knob to "park" and exited the truck. as the driver stepped out of the truck it began to move backwards, causing the driver's door to impact the pole protecting the pumps, and over-extending the door and hinges beyond normal operation. the driver quickly jumped back into the truck and stopped it's movement, and then verified that the gear selector was showing "park." the driver was uninjured, but the incident resulted in $2,200.00 of damage to the truck. the truck was moved forward again, the door pulled back to a normal position, the gear selection knob again turned to the "park" position, and the vehicle's transmission was confirmed to be in "park." the incident occurred at quiktrip gas station #764 on august 10, 2017. it was captured on the location's surveillance video system on cameras "gas left" and "parking left" starting at the time of 15:50:33, with the actual incident between 15:51:26 and 15:51:29. video can be requested through quiktrip's corporate office at 770-368-1616.

2015 ram 1500. consumer writes in regards to electronic shifter transmission failure. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle suffered a failure of the electronic gear shift and/or transmission. the consumer stated while the vehicle was parked, it reversed about 75ft and impacted a concrete abutment and metal pipe supporting gate. the gear shift then went into reverse and the back up lights illuminated. there was damage caused to the rear bumper and tailgate. *js
This truck jerks into first and second gear when slowing down. this transmission defect lunges the truck forward in a very abrupt and surprising manner. the truck is difficult and dangerous to drive, specifically in heavy traffic.
Vehicle was running and left in park. went in reverse and crashed into a column.
On 6/12/17 i backed out of my garage and shifted the truck into park.(electronic rotary dial shifter mounted on dash) i exited the truck to retrieve an item in the garage, leaving the truck running. my 10 year old son, who was inside the truck, screamed to alert me. i observed my truck in motion moving forward toward my garage.(not coasting as if it were in neutral but rather in drive). i attempted to get back into truck to apply brake but was unsuccessful. the truck impacted the exterior of my garage between the doors with my son inside the truck. he was seat belted and uninjured, physically. upon entering the truck i observed the gear selector to be in park. i immediately shifted into reverse backing up approximately 15-20 feet. i shifted the truck into park and again exited the truck to survey the damage. the truck again began moving forward as if in drive. i was able to apply the brake reaching in with my hands to do so. i again observed the transmission to be in park. i shut the ignition off at this point. immediately following this event i attempted to replicate it in my driveway approximately 20-30 times, shifting from drive to park and letting my foot off the brake. i was unable to replicate it in these attempts. my truck sustained just over $3,000 worth of damage. i have not at this time gotten an estimate for the damage to my home. the major concern i have pertains to the fact my son was inside the truck and my daughters playing nearby when this event occurred. later that evening while researching the internet for issues associated with this transmission i located nhsta investigation pe 16-014 and feel i have experienced a similar issue as those previously reported to the nhtsa. our second family vehicle is my wife's 2014 dodge durango with the same transmission and subject to the same nhtsa investigation pe 16-014.
I was backing my truck to hook up to trailer i stop truck put in park from reverseleft motor running got out started walking to back of truck when the truck started going forward . i tried to catch iti got door almost open when i was crushed between my truck an a parked ford pickup i went to hospital for ct scan lucky only hip contostion . done lots of damage to both trucks . i believe the transmission went into gear on its on me getting hurt was my fault for trying to stop truck . i was in my on yard when this happen.
April 14, 2017 my husband was heading east on i-20 in the tyler, texas area located in smith county texas.approaching his turn off at hwy 14. when exiting on the ramp he noticed smoke coming from the back of the truck. he looked and the service engine light was on and he began losing power. he was able to pull to a large parking area away from others. he got out of the vehicle and approached the hood when he noticed flames coming from the engine. he backed away from the vehicle at that time and called 911. our vehicle is not a total loss. last fall we had to replace the entire fuel system $6500 when the vehicle had less than 20,000 miles on it. now at little over 30,000 miles it's a total loss. i have contacted chrsyler and they are suppose to send inspectors to see if they can determine the cause. insurance inspectors are also coming this week too. i've read a lot of negatives for this truck and saw there was a recall for 4x2's for wiring issues that could short and cause a fire. our truck was a lone star 4x4 and not under this recall. i think these vehicles need to be looked at harder!! too many issues from too many owners.
While at home depot i remote started my truck and placed lumber in the bed. i proceeded to the driver's door and when i opened the door the truck went in reverse knocking me to the ground causing a laceration requiring 8 staples, concussion, lower back and shoulder pain and bruising. the truck continued across the parking lot hitting a ford ranger causing major damage, continuing into another vehicle gmc cm3500 causing minor damage. my laramie suffered major damage to rear bumper, tailgate, and rear driver side panel. we are just lucky there were no others walking in the area at the time. my 2015 laramie has a rotary shifter and it was in parked position at the time of the incident. i feel there is a defect in the rotary shifter which cased this accident to happen.
Trans stay in" p "after 10 sec the truck move
Keep getting "service gear selector" messages. dealer checked and replaced selector and less than a week later i get the same problem and worse. when i shifted to reverse, the "r" kept flashing and a warning came on. the vehicle would not move until i moved the selector again. the warning messages happen both in motion and while at a stop.
Transmission shifts hard. the tranny does it sometimes. it could be warm or cold. engine sounds like its racing before shifting. dealership says i have to wait for a light comes on or a message. 3 times i took it in for that problem . now 2days ago ...as i was turning into my driveway the truck popped into park. i was turning into my driveway. now what's that all about???? now....no one can give me a straight answer. i hate to give this up and go back to ford.
The truck started rolling while being parked in the driveway. fortunately no one was behind the truck and no property damage had occurred. this is extremely dangerous and could have lead to serious injuries or damage. parking shifter and/or relevant equipment must be recalled and replaced by manufacturer. the incident has been recorded by surveillance camera and can be presented upon request.

I put the 2015 ram 1500 into park and removed the key, when i stepped out of the vehicle it started to roll backwards down my driveway. i was able to get back into the vehicle and apply the brake. i put the key back into the ignition and the park indicator light was on. i pulled the vehicle forward and put it into park again, when i took my foot off the brake it began to roll backwards down the driveway again. i applied the brake and pulled the vehicle forward again, i put the vehicle into park, this time the vehicle stayed in park and did not roll backwards.
Stopped at mail box on 3% incline. put truck in park and set the park brake. jumped out with the door open to get the mail. truck slowly started rolling backward. i jumped back in the truck to stop the roll but it already stopped after about 3 feet. i looked and it was still in park. this is the second time this same thing has happened.

I went to put vehicle in park and i turned the dial to "p" and the light flashed above and the key would not come out of vehicle. i then exited vehicle and vehicle started to roll away. i jumped back in vehicle and pushed the emergency break. i left the vehicle for 15 min and when i got back in vehicle it went into park with no problem. i am scared to drive the vehicle now.
Transmission problem... sunday, 12/18/2016 in minneapolis, mn remotely started vehicle at 6:00am -22 actual air temp. vehicle had been warming up (idling) for 15 minutes. at 6:15am i tried putting the vehicle in reverse. indicator light for reverse should have gone solid...just blinked. tried placing vehicle in drive with same results. drive indicator just blinked, should have gone solid. check engine came on. tried stopping and starting vehicle numerous times with no improvement. allowed vehicle to continue to idle for a total of one hour before the vehicle's transmission actually shifted into reverse. brought vehicle to joe machens ram dealership in columbia, mo on 12/19/2016, service writer chris boatright (573-474-9500) wrote the issue up. received a call from chris boatright on 12/20/2016. they could not find any problems even though the check engine light did point to a transmission error. reporting this issue as i saw on the news today about the other issues of this vehicle rolling away when people think the transmission is in park.

On november 05, 2016 at approximately 1230 hours i walked out to my ram 1500 pick up truck, which was parked in my driveway and started it up. i pulled the truck forward in my driveway approximately a full truck length, put the truck in park and exited the truck, leaving the driver side door open. the truck was left idling. i began to walk to the rear of my truck, where a friend was standing near my flatbed trailer. the plan was to hook the trailer up to the truck. as i was walking to the rear of my truck, i observed the truck rolling backwards. i immediately turned around and began to run back to the truck. as the truck was rolling, the driver side door caught the tire of the vehicle parked next to it. as i jump back in the truck i check the shift indicator and observed it to be in park while rolling. the driver side door was then pushed backwards and into the driver side front fender. i then stepped on the brake and the vehicle came to a stop.

On september 12, 2016, my truck went through a building while no one was in the vehicle. at around 7 am on said date, my daughter, who was the driver, exited the vehicle to so into a bagel store in a strip mall. she put the vehicle in park, and exited the vehicle with her keys in hand, she turned around to remote start the vehicle. it was a cool morning. upon engaging the remote start, the vehicle started to move on its own, running into the strip mall address of garfield rd, clinton twp mi. the bagel store employee saw this all unfold, yet the police did not want her as a witness. instead, the police ticketed her for careless driving. she was not in the vehicle at the time it went into the building yet still received a ticket. the vehicle was then towed to a car dealership in mi. while the vehicle was in route, my daughter called chrysler to inform them of the accident. she was told to make sure that no one from the dealership touched the truck. chrysler wanted to send in their people to investigate. the truck sat on the lot for a week. of course they found nothing wrong? in the meantime i called the insurance company to see how many points this ticket was that was not warranted. too many. so i hired a local attorney to fight the ticket. i still had to pay for the attorney and a fine. in conclusion, i own a truck that moves on its own, chrysler states that there is nothing wrong with it; there is a witness that saw that no one was in the truck. there is a serious problem here and no one is owning up to it. i would like some concrete answers on the problem. my child drives it everyday and i feel that she is constantly at risk. it is a lease and i cannot afford to turn it in. i am in a worried about this happening again. please help us. *tr
