Power steering worked yesterday. this morning it does not work at all. warning light on the dash is on.
My steering on this ram 1500 has been noticeably stiff lately when turning. i looked for common complaints from other ram owners and found a recall (s19) for rams manufactured between jan and sept of 2015 - my ram was manufactured in april 2015. i feel that this ram should also be included in this recall

Electric power steering gradually failed incident to a strike on a concrete vertical pole while in a turn approx 10mph in parking lot. alignment was significantly off. aligned, but the steering still caught/ friction during turns, steering would no longer scenter up. took to 3rd party, they were unable to diagnose. barely used vehicle, and after parking and power offf, at next start the electric power steering totally failed, needed to apply 40-50 lbs of force on steering wheel to get it to do limited turning, and it would freeze in the new position. undriveable, paid to tow to dealer who said it was not due to striking the bollard, but they did not understand it started right then after striking the bollard, and that it became worse over the next 2 weeks with very little use then totally failed. there is a recall, but not my vin.

Electronic power steering is not working. no codes, very hard to steer and steering wheel does not correct itself straight after turning a corner.
Electronic power steering works intermittently. dealership says i need to replace the rack. my vehicle has 38,000 miles on it. no vehicle should need a new rack at 38,000 miles. this is a major safety issue since the power steering can go out at any time.

Loss of power steering assist. attempted to have dealer fix as my regular mechanic informed me of 2016 recall. 519-nhtsa-16v/167. dealer told me my vehicle did not show any recalls
Within the last 30 days, my truck has lost power steering capabilities numerous times. it varies when this occurs as well. it could be a full highway speed, driving slowly through a parking lot or even while stationary. vehicle was taken to a service center for diagnostics and was told the steering is one electric unit so i did some research with my mechanic and found a limited recall on 2015-16 ram 1500s for the power steering ecm. at this point, i believe this is an ongoing problem and should be a full recall. at this time we cannot find the parts to fix the vehicle because they are sold out everywhere due to such high demand for replacement parts most likely due to the same issues i'm experiencing with my vehicle.

Went to the gas station everything was fine. i go to leave and i have no power steering. i had to drive through our city to get on the highway to get home. it was extremely hard to steer all the way home especially the slower i went. when i got home i see on the internet that they have a problem with the power steering assist module. but there is not a recall for this yet. this happened with only 72000.
I'm having issues with my 2015 dodge ram 1500 a couple days ago it gave me a message telling me i had to get my power steering serviced. during that day i let my vehicle run for 20 minutes and it worked fine after that. however, a couple days prior to the incident when i was turning on a busy city street coming back from dinner the steering locked up out of nowhere and i had to use extra force to not cause an accident. the next day, i visited my local dealer planet dodge and i informed them on the issue and they ran my vin and said they couldn't do anything about it because it doesn't have the recall which is ridiculous because the recall for that particular vehicle was for the vehicles manufactured before september of 2015 and mines being february of 2015. i'm starting to get very concerned for my safety and others as prior to my visit at planet dodge i met some owners and state troopers having the same issues as me and not getting the service they and their vehicles need in order to function correctly.*dt 'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'*jb
Took the truck in for a recall reflash of a controller. two weeks later, at 58mph, without warning dashboard lite up numerous symbols/codes and engine shutoff, losing power steering and power brakes. i steered vehicle onto side of road, and engine would not restart. took first dealership 4 weeks to diagnosis a crank position tone wheel, and sensor failure. vehicle was returned then 2 weeks later, while refueling at a gas station same failure occurred with diesel engine stoppage, and no restart. vehicle was taken to second chrysler dealership. vehicle has been in second dealership for 11 weeks, "undergoing diagnosis". as of 6/6/2019, no solution found. frankly, i do not believe they have a clue what is causing the random engine shut off, nor how to repair it. this is what makes it such a frightening defect. it appears random, with absolutely no warning until the dashboard lights up and instantaneously the engine shuts off. how am i suppose to drive a vehicle with my two children around, when it could stall at any time at any speed? i've been lucky twice. once at 58mph on a two lane road, once stationary. what if it fails merging on to an expressway, or crossing a railroad track? *tr
When i woke up my ram's steering was locked and i was shocked because i never had an issue like this so i waited and waited until it reached 190* f to be able to turn the wheel then i safely drove my vehicle to school and when i got back in my truck at 2:20 the steering was locked again and i'm shocked again because i never had a car that had problems. to my concern this should be a safety issue because anyone having this problem can seriously cause a bad car accident that was not meant to happen in the first place.
The power steering is cutting out randomly without notice. this can happen when turning or changing lanes or driving in a straight line. we are afraid to drive it for fear of a crash injuring us or others. there is an existing recall on this problem, (s19) but we miss it by 1 month. seeing we have the same symptoms as others with same model and year, we feel this recall should be expanded.
Vehicle is struggling really hard to turn just going around a curve in the road. this is making it very unsafe to drive due to having to strong arm every turn of the wheel and not being able to make sudden turns in the event it is necessary. i believe it is the power steering that has failed.
Loses power steering at slower city speeds and while making turns.
Steering locks up. every time i go to start my dodge ram 1500 2015 the steering is locked. the truck needs to be at high temperatures to unload clean the steering. sometimes when you start driving it locks up again. this issue is going to go cause accidents. the dodge dealer in miami florida planet dodge is aware of these issues on these vehicles. there should be a recall

Steering wheel is stiff and has flat spots in it. people at dealer ship said check power steering reservoir, and my truck is all electrical. the stiffness comes and goes. and the steering wheel has a squeaking sound every time i turn. it does it ever time i drive and when i am stationary as well.
I have a 2015 dodge ram 1500 and i have a problem where i'll go to start my vehicle and the power steering just locks up until my transmission reaches 180*f i believe the issue might be the steering column because i bought the vehicle used and lowered i think it caused too much stress to the u joints or something happened. i don't know why the fca will not report this as a recall because i took it to a dodge dealer and 100+ cars are in there for the same reason even state police cars .
The dealer had to replace the clockspring due to problems with the horn, airbag and steering/electrical. this was the same problem for 2012-2014 ram 1500s that were recalled, mileage for the truck is about 65000. cost for fixing it was 762.67. it is similar to nhtsa id number: 11065676 the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving various speeds, the lights on the steering wheel did not illuminate and the horn stopped working. chapman dodge chrysler jeep ram of scottsdale, arizona (3800 n 89th st, 85251) was made aware of the failure and requested that the vehicle be brought in for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 41,500.

Power steering is failing like the recall 16v167000 which includes 2015 ram 1500's however mine is not showing it to be included. at low speed the steering is stffing and becoming difficult to turn. mileage is under 25000.

Noise on steering. intermediated shaft column joint close of fuel/brake pedals.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving 70 mph, the power steering warning indicator illuminated and the power steering failed. after restarting the vehicle approximately four times, the steering returned to normal. the vehicle was taken to frisco chrysler dodge jeep ram (9640 tx-121, frisco, tx 75035, (214)-256-4324) where it was diagnosed that the control circuit board failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to call nhtsa to file a complaint. the failure mileage was 95,000.
I was having the oil changed. when they started it to pull it out the power steering warning came on and i did not have any power steering. *dt*jb
The steering gets tight to where you can't turn the steering wheel and then it loosens back up unexpectedly. it's becoming dangerous and scary when turning corners. you never know when it's going to tighten up. we just bought the truck in september 2018 and already having issues. it has 73,000 miles on it. if the past recall for steering was ever fixed, it's broke again and needs replaced.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. while driving 25 mph, the steering wheel seized. the vehicle was taken to leith chrysler dodge jeep ram aberdeen (11049 us-15, aberdeen, nc 28315, (910) 944-7115) where the contact was informed that the power steering rack needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v586000 (steering). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 83,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ram 1500. the contact stated that there was contamination within the circuit board that affected the electric power steering. the vehicle was serviced by white's energy motors chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram (203 motor ct, gillette, wy 82718, 307-687-0499) where it was diagnosed that the power steering gear assembly needed to be replaced. the dealer and the manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 16v167000 (steering); however, the symptoms were the same. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
While leaving work, i turned my steering wheel and it was extremely hard to turn. it was extremely unsafe and i had trouble keeping the vehicle within a single lane. then the steering wheel would jerk back and forth at times. i immediately took the vehicle back to where i purchased the vehicle. they advised that the electric power steering on my vehicle needed to be replaced. i looked online that similar 2015 ram's actually had a recall on this exact part, but my vehicle was not included for the recall. my 3yr/36k warranty had just expired in may 2018, but i purchased an extended warranty. the dealership advised me the part was covered by the extended warranty and they had ordered the part. they advised the part was back ordered until the middle of september 2018. i spoke with the dealership today, 10-3-18,and they stated the part would not be in at the earliest 11-26-18. possibly not until next year.
Recently had the power steering unit replaced by fca (50% my cost) and filed a nhtsa complaint. after approx 2,000 miles has developed very stiff and jerky steering assist. wheel will not return to center when you let go, and turning corners is a two handed, reduced speed affair as not to collide with other vehicles. i have determined that the universal joint on the steering shaft is bad. i can spray lubricant on it and the problem goes away for a while then returns as it dries out. *tt
Power steering is intermittent and can unexpectedly become very hard to steer.
