Takata recall i purchased a certified 2013 dodge ram 1500 espress about a year ago. the dealer promised to replace anything that went wrong with the truck within 3 months and 3,000 miles. i also have the remainder of the powertrain warranty. as soon as my wife and i drive the truck off the lot, the "service airbag system" light came on the dash. i turn around and go back to the salesman. he says he'll fix it by resetting the battery. i tell him that's temporary until the computer relearns the issue. he tells us if it does he'll take care of it and we can have it serviced at any dodge dealer. it came on on the 100 mile drive home. i took it in to a dealer in chelsea , mi. they couldn't find the airbag fault as the light mysteriously went off. one day after picking up the truck, the airbag light comes back on. i called chrysler customer care at this point to try and get this resolved. they give me a hard time and tell me i'll have to pay for the fix. i've called them probably 15-20 times to get this resolved without me paying an arm and a leg for something they should have fixed when i bought the truck. i even took it in for a seperate airbag recall hoping it would fix it. the dealer didn't even tell me what they fixed, instead they said if i want that airbag issue fixed they first need to diagnose it to the tune of $125.00 plus repair costs. needless to say, my "service airbag system" light has been on since i bought the truck and is still on until i sell the truck i guess. when i said they were just fined 105 million for not handling recalls/ airbag issues, they just said so what. i said so you don't care if i have loaded gun at my face that could go off at any time....they said they recommend i don't drive it until it's fixed....they really could care less about their customers safety.
I was involved in an accident where i was t boned. hit on the drivers side. the entire drivers side doors were damaged, front and rear and none of the airbags deployed.

Accelerating from stop light and at 35 mph a loud explosion was heard from the passenger dash area. i thought i saw some powdery dust afterward. took the truck to the dealership and explained what happened. they did a drb computer test and road test. nothing found. also there were no dash warning lights. when it happened my first thought was the air bag charge went off, but why didn't the bag come out.

Recently i was involved in a car accident with my 2013 dodge ram 1500. i was struct by a car at approximately 35 mph and hit directly on the drivers side,(t-boned) the truck is equipped with side air bags and front air bags, which never deployed. the accident brought extensive damages to the truck and injuries to my wife and i. i reported the non deployment to dodge in which case a special inspector was sent out to thomas dodge where he ran diagnostics of the airbags computer. no fault signals were found. dodge response to the investigation was ! impact was not sufficient to merit air bag deployment!. department of transportation safety says the bag is inflated at a certain crash threshold, usually corresponding to a speed of the impacting vehicle of more than 15-20 km/h. dodge refused to act on it so the question should be to myself, dodge ram owners and perspective buyers,,,will my airbags deploy when i need them to??? be ware.
