Fuel gauge stopped working. at first, it would go to empty after filling the tank, and driving for a while, start working normal. but now it has stopped working completely. *tr
Fuel gauge never goes below 1/4 sticks and is inaccurate, same symptoms as recalled vehicles, yet this vin wasn't include in the recall and should be. tank runs empty yet still indicates 1/4 full a safety hazard. this vehicle should be included to the recall for the exact same defective parts! updated 02/09/17*lj *tr *cn
2008 nissan xterra. consumer writes in regards to vehicle fuel gauge inaccuracy issues. *smd the consumer stated she ran out of gas on the highway, even though the tank read a quarter tank remaining. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan xterra. while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact mentioned that the vehicle ran out of fuel and the fuel gauge failed to indicate that the vehicle needed fuel. the fuel tank was replenished, but the fuel gauge still did not display the correct fuel level. the vehicle was not taken to dealer or an independent mechanic. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 140,000. updated 8/31/15*cn
When driving the car at 40mph/around 1000rpms the vehicle began vibrating at the back end. upon acceleration, the vibration ceased. this behavior became consistent. a mechanic independent from nissan found that the transmission and radiator must be replaced per his conversation with the local nissan dealership. also advising independent mechanic that the dealership admits to having a floor full of transmissions that need repair. i investigated the class action suit filed in 2010 and already settled, but had no knowledge of this prior as nissan did not alert me to the persistent problem since 2005 i should expect my car to develop. *tr
Purchased my '05 nissan xterra in the spring of 2012 with about 160,000 miles. for the past 2 months i had minor issues like shuddering/vibrations randomly when i accelerated and the heat not working when i was at a complete stop. it was not until the other day when i was at a complete stop and my car would not accelerate properly that i knew i had a problem with the transmission. i took my xterra to 3 different mechanics and each one explained to me that i would need a completely new transmission and from there they would see if i in fact needed to change the radiator (which they were positive was the original issue due to similar issues with other nissan suv owners). the repairs will cost me well over $4,000 and unfortunately as a college student, there is no way i can afford to repair the transmission and radiator. what was appalling to me was when i researched the issue online. there are hundreds upon hundreds of complaints online on various websites about this issue and nissan has yet to issue a recall. the extended warranty excluded many people and put many more at an unfair ...
On 5/19/2010 the nhtsa and nissan issued a recall campaign bulletin #ntb10-031a covering certain nissan vehicles manufactured between 2006 and 2008. the recall was to address a potential fuel gauge accuracy. specifically, the issue can cause the fuel gauge to show the vehicle still has fuel when the tank is actually empty. this could result in the vehicle shutting down, rendering power steering, power brakes and other vehicle systems inoperable or where performance may be greatly reduced, which at highway speeds could cause of loss or control or accident. my 2005 nissan titan was recalled for the same issue and was in fact impacted when the vehicle shut off at highway speed. i was fortunately able to control the vehicle to a safe stop and the vehicle was fixed under an identical recall. in july 2014, when my son's 2006 nissan xterra began to experience similar symptoms. i contacted nissan to confirm that vehicles inclusion in the aforementioned campaign. i spoke to [xxx] and opened case [xxx]. [xxx] instructed me to have the vehicle diagnosed at a nissan dealership (which i did), but she subsequently denied coverage under the recall stating that the vin ...
My fuel gauge went to zero after i just filled up, my check engine light went on. code p0463. the fuel pump is fine, just the fuel level sensor. i have heard this is a common issue with this year, is there going to be a recall? *tr
We were driving on vacation and the car stopped. it started back up and then after a couple of miles stopped again. we were stranded and didn't get home for three days.i have take codes off the engine and it showed a 0462 code. went back to get xterra with a car dolly and dolly broke and car came undone. this unfortunate incident was a direct result of a bad sending unit. *tr
Apparently, this is happening to large number of nissan vehicles. it started with my gas meter getting stuck on a quarter of tank. and twice i ran out of gas, thinking i still had some gas left in tank. now my empty tank light cuts on usually after i get around a half of tank. when i fill up it may take 2 or 3 trips before the sensor gets off of reading no gas. my check engine light is on as well. very frustrating not knowing how much is in tank, especially on long trips. frustrating as well, having to put gas in xterra every 2-3 days not knowing how much is actually in tank. *tr
