Takata recall .... my passenger airbag light has been on for about 3 yrs. now and when it has been hooked up to a computer results always come back the same... error in airbag. now i've contacted nissan and they are telling me that even though i may have a takata airbag my vin # is not on the recall list so therefore they cannot do anything about the problem. i would have to pay out of my own pocket to have it fixed. now they did tell me that according to their records and with the vin # that was given to them in oct 2008 my murano already had been serviced for passenger side airbag light staying on. so basically what they were saying was that my murano had already used the one free service check in oct 2008 for airbag. first of all, my vehicle is an 09, so nissan already admitted that according to their records and my vin # that i was already having airbag issues before the vehicle was released to be sold. i purchased it at beginning of 2012 and 2013 is when my airbag light came on. now i have had it cleared and seems like if it is cold cause i do live in ohio, but if i clear it today and it's not really cold it may not come on, but as soon as it gets cold it comes right back on. now there has been times where it has been cleared and as soon as you turn off the engine and start it back up it comes right back on. i also am having issues with tpms, no matter what tires i buy i am constantly battling the low tire pressure light. it's been taking to tire shops and been checked for slow leaks and leaks around the valve stem, nothing. i have also had to replace the motors in mt steering wheel because both of those went out on me. now my new issue is my air vents. when the defrost is on certain air vents do not shut off, air still comes through them. and in the winter i feel like there is cold air blowing up through the floor. no issues with 04 ...

There was no incident. but ...... nissan has a recall on several vehicles for the airbag sensor on the passenger side airbag not working - including the 2009 muranos. they said my vin does not match up on the recall - so they will not fix it. even though they haved recalled many vehicles for the exact same thing including the 2009 murano. i would think this is a major safety concern and hope you guys can help enforce a recall on this. updated 4/24/2015 *js

Air bag light stays on. upon review by the nissan dealership, i was informed that the sensor underneath the passenger seat could be the reason the light was blinking. the cost of repair would be $2500.00. upon review on the nissan website this information was found "nissan is recalling 204,361 my 2007-2008 altima, altima hybrid, 350z, 350z roadster, my 2008 altima coupe, rogue, my 2009 murano, and infiniti my 2007-2008 g35 sedan, my 2008 g37 coupe and ex35 passenger vehicles equipped with continental automotive systems' occupant classification system (ocs) control units. a varistor in the ocs control unit located in the passenger seat cushion may have been manufactured out of specification. under certain conditions, this could cause an interruption of signal between the ocs and the air bag control unit." my vehicle is having the same problem, yet i was informed by nissan that my vehicle was not involved in the recall. it seems as if this is a safety issue and needs to be investigated. *tr

Passenger side airbag won't turn on. *tr

The steering column is stuck and the motor and gears failed. this has been listed more than 100 times on the internet in various blogs. turns out the automatic adjustment each time you get in and out of the car kills the motor and gears and is actually addressed in a service bulletin ntb-09-073 having this happen also affected the air bag and the warning light is now on. *tr

The vehicle has shown problems that were previously recalled including tire monitoring system, passenger air bag warning light remains lit, and rear hatch fails to function. more recently the vehicle fails to start and has strong smell of gas. the fuel pump was replace by a certified mechanic but the problem persists, failure to start or run. in addition, the battery has drained even after being checked and recharged, clearly an electrical problem. the vin number search shows no recall notices. updated 2/10/2016*js

Dashboard air bag warning light began flashing. subsequent trip to the dealer diagnosed a defective passenger seat sensor, which is built in to the seat bottom, so the entire unit must be replaced. although i had purchased an extended warranty, that part was not covered and the seat bottom must be replaced as it is a safety issue. forwarded a request for assistance to nissan usa, and the jury is still out on that move. there have been very few passengers in that automobile, with the great majority of the miles on the car being driver only miles. *kb

On approx. 10 jan 2012 the airbag light on the dash began flashing. i made an appointment with john lee nissan to have it checked and serviced. after researching the codes the dealer determined the air bag sensor in the passenger seat cushion failed. the sensor is built into the seat cushion therefore requiring a new seat. the vehicle is out of warranty so i opened a case with nissan consumer affairs (nca). file # 7357731. the service manger at john lee nissan sent his report to nca with his determination that given the failure is a direct result of engineering and a safety concern for the public, nca should cover the cost of repairs. nissan has had vin specific recalls for seat-seatbelt-airbag components in 2009. see recall information listed below. i pointed out to the dealer and to nca the listed recall but they informed me it did not include my vin. after numerous conversations with [xxx]at nca he also felt the repair should be covered by nissan. he was not able to make a decision due to the case being elevated to a higher tear within nca. nca has denied the claim. release: nissan north america, inc. 20081007 component: summery nissan is recalling 204,361 my 2007-2008 altima, altima hybrid, 350z, 350z roadster, my 2008 altima coupe, rogue, my 2009 murano, and infiniti my 2007-2008 g35 sedan, my 2008 g37 coupe and ex35 passenger vehicles equipped with continental automotive systems' occupant classification system (ocs) control units. a varistor in the ocs control unit located in the passenger seat cushion may have been manufactured out of specification. under certain conditions, this could cause an interruption of signal between the ocs and the air bag control unit (acu). consequences: this could result in the passenger air bag being suppressed which could fail to provide adequate protection in the event of a crash. nissan north america, inc. 20081007. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving last night and my air bag sensor started blinking in the dash for no apparent reason. less then 6 months ago i had the same issue. i contacted the dealership and nissan consumer affairs to inform them of the problem. they had my car for almost a month and i thought it had been fixed. this is the second time for this issue to occur. i do not in anyway feel safe in this car. it goes back to the dealership to be repaired again and i want it permanently fixed. i don't know the equipment details so you'll have to check with nissan. i had to put something in order to proceed with complaint. *tr

I purchased a new 2009 nissan murano in january of 2009. after 5 months of use and 7000 miles the vehicle's airbag light came on. the vehicle was sent to the service department and no problem could not be located and the light was reset. about two weeks later the light came on again and an additional passenger side airbag light came on. we returned the vehicle to the dealership for service and we told the part was on a national back order and it could take several days to 6 months for the part to come in. even if this was the part that needed to be replaced. the dealership thinks this will take care of the problem but cannot guarantee it will work. the nature of this malfunction and the unavailability of parts for repair might cause problems for other consumers. *tr
