Tl* the contact owns a 2000 nissan frontier. the contact stated that the oil pan and fuel tank failed due to corrosion. the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact also observed an abnormal odor of fuel near the vehicle. the vehicle was diagnosed by a dealer where it was determined that the parts needed to be replaced. the oil pan was replaced, but the fuel tank was not replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that it would be an out of pocket expense to replace the fuel tank. the failure mileage was approximately 135,000. updated 10/18/16*lj updated 10/19/16.*jb

2005 nissan frontier. consumer writes in regards to fuel sending unit problem. *smd the consumer stated the fuel sending unit should be replaced by nissan, regardless of what month the vehicle was manufactured. the consumer stated it was obvious the same part was used on vehicles throughout the entire manufacturing process. according to the invoice, the fuel gauge would not read full. *jb

Fuel gauge shows empty when its full or vise versa. gauge does not work because fuel tank has warped and float wont read it properly. nissan is aware of their problem but nissan in reno nv wants $400.00 to fix it. their faulty parts and they wont stand behind them. weak. *tr
My "service engine soon" light came on. a code read said it was my fuel sending unit. there was a recall for the issue but nissan customer support said my vin was not covered. they did not explain why but upon my follow up, they said they would investigate if they could help/assist with the repair costs. they required the code read from the dealer (which i did and they confirmed it was the fuel sending unit). they call me back a week later and told me that they would not pay, although the representative admitted it was the defect from the recall campaign, but this time, she said it was because the recall warranty had expired. since i was never part of the recall notice, there was no way for me to know when the campaign was in effect, plus - they did not include my vin number. this same problem has happened to many, many people and it seems nissan has scammed nhtsa and the recall system to minimize the amount of repairs they have had to make (e.g. they volunteer to perform the recall, then artificially limit the number of ...

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that the fuel gauge was reading inaccurate fuel level as a result the contact was unaware when the vehicle was empty. the contact also stated that the check engine light was illuminated. the contact was made aware of nhtsa campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline), however, the vin was not included. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
