Several times when driving my brake light will come on along the brake does not engage. when you press on the pedal you hear a loud grinding sound similar to springs being ejected from the car. it does not slow down the vehicle at all and the grinding is loud and seems to be damaging internal parts. when you turn the engine off, and restart it the problem goes away. i took it to the nissan dealership in fremont ca. they advised to change the brake pads and rotors. which i elected to do and cost me a lot of money. immediately after leaving the dealership it happened again. i called the next day for they were closed. they said that they didn't see any errors on their reader and cannot replace parts when there are nothing showing. i insisted to take it in and the mechanic suggested i clean the battery or get a new battery which i did. the problem stoped for a month until it happened again while driving 50mph down a windy road. it nearly killed me! the closest description i have of the problem is explained on this youtube video i found https://youtu.be/jvcrd2lxti8
Just recently purchased this huge monstrosity for my 3 children; today as we were driving the brakes completely went out! 10% braking power. now im reading a 2016 class action and a lawsuit where a peron was killed. there are multiple posts regarding this issue. nissan needs to recall this before more people are killed!
Press brakes and they start jumping and make a weird sound, don't work correctly as if you loose your breaks for sometime, pull over shut car off wait and then restart and everything is back to normal - scary at high speeds on the highway, this has been a continous problem and even my work around is no longer working. this happens atleast once a month with continued driving so i use my other car more often than not.
I was driving down the road around 45 to 50 mph. i looked down and when i looked back up a car was stopped in the road. when i pressed the brake it made a weird noise almost like a spring going boing and air rushing. the noise is very hard to describe. the pedal went almost to the floor. the brakes had a weird grinding sound and a lot of vibration in the pedal. i had the brakes down as hard as i could. the brakes did work a little but nothing like they should have. there was only a very small light in color skid mark. i let the officer know after the crash. after looking into it i discovered this is a known problem. i was not injured but people in the other car were.
The brake light comes on while driving and you lose some braking ability which is quite dangerous
While driving the armada, the brake light suddenly turns on. and i'm unable to brake immediately. i would have to stop the vehicle completely and turn it off wait about two minutes, then turn the engine back on.. sometimes it stops, but most times it doesn't..
Brake light on dash goes on and the brakes grab, make it hard to stop when brakes are applied. has happened multiple times, had brakes replaced, and continues to happen with new brakes and rotors. problem clears temporary after stopping vehicle and turninh ignition off then back on. last time this happened was 2-16-2019.
All dash board lights suddenly turn on when driving on the freeway and breaks disengage. pressing the break pedal results in a loud grinding noise and sounds like springs tearing. this happened four times. dealer cannot find the problem and i have changed break pads and rotors but still continues. the only solve is to turn off the engine and turn it back on.
Randomly the truck would not stop as i try and apply the brakes , its as is i push petal to the floor and you hear a bad grinding a bad vibration and feels as if the truck is about to drop a mechanical piece from underneath the front end .as i come to a long and rolling stop the brake light turns on,, i try and pump the brake petal and it seems as if its disconnected from the cable, so i turn the truck off wait a minute and turn it back on... now this has happened about 5,6 times the past time my wife and 3 boys where in the vehicle.. ive done research and been on many forums and know this is a big issue and very dangerous, as we are now extremely nervous to drive the vehicle especially on the expressway ... please at least honor the repairs as i can take it to a nissan by me and have it fixed. i love the truck and have put a lot of money to modifying it and its very dependable. but no vehicle will be safe if brakes randomly go out... its bound to be a very bad outcome and we dont want to be a statistic,,,please help us. please call for further info and a resolution.. thank you for your time [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *pm
Break light comes on while driving and when i go to stop it makes a god awful sound. have to turn the car off and back on. this has happened several times since june 1st 2018. turning if off seems to clear the issue but today 3 lights came on brake, slip and vds. turning it off and back on did not seem to fix it. this is our family vehicle and we have 3 to 6 kids in it at all times. nissan needs to issue a recall this is a huge safety issue!
At random times, usually when transmission in drive, the brake light displays on the dash and immediately the brakes do not work appropriately. the brake pedal sinks to the floor when depressed while making a loud groaning/grinding sound. the brakes fail. i have to stop the car by pumping the brake pedal, turning off the motor and then once auto restarts the problem is gone until next time. very dangerous. at higher speeds could cause serious accident with injury or death. happened several times on expressway. happened in parking lots and on side streets. frightening situation. dealers act ignorant about this problem even tho this seems to be a common complaint with this vehicle. i understand it is the abs booster that needs to be replaced. others said it is the computer. i spent 4 hours 2 wks ago at dealer who "found nothing." yet the situation has increased fron a few times a year to 3 times this week.
The vdc off light, slip light and brakes pop up on the dash. the car begins to make a springy sound maybe from the brakes. the car has to slow down and it stops for a minute but it continuously does it while i'm driving. it happens with no discrimination as to where you are (city, highway,etc...) .
I was driving on freeway around 60mph on a sudden brake paddle got soft brakes light abs light everything came on dashboard.whenever i pressed the brake it feels like not pressing anything but the brake was still working but not smooth.. it's like u pressing hard brake every time. but when i restarted the truck everything disappeared from dashboard n brake paddle started working normally. so whenever it was happening i was keep restarting the truck . so i i went to firestone they said i need to change master cylinder flash the brake fluid rotors n pads all way around which cost me almost 1500$ . once they did those services after couple of months same problem occurring again. now firestone said it's abs probably. i looked online lots of had same this unknown problem n it's dangerous.. it's pointi on its reliability .. i can't even sell the truck cz i don't want to put anyone's life in danger so plz i really this it's need to be taken care by dealer . thank you
Takata inflators pasanger sit dosent sense theres a person on the sit airbag is off all the time even when driving and there's a adult heavy person on the sit i've tried several friends heavy persons and it's always off even when driving any speed ..... rear brakes don't work properly when driving in regular street 25 milles suddenly emergency light turns on and back breaks sound like they are loose and don't stop car had to turn car off in the middle of street and then turn it on to reset brakes and then it works fine for a day or 2 or a week not sure when but its very often
Brake light come and a shutter in brake petal. lose of stopping power
The brakes suddenly quit working properly, vibration, grinding, etc. the suv will stop if you baby the brake pedal. if i turn ign. off, then back on, the problem goes away.
I was driving down a main roadway when the brake, vdc, abs and 4x4 lights all came on. the car also started making a bonging grinding and vibrating when i pressed the brakes. i pulled off to the side of the road and turned the car off. i checked to see if i could find anything wrong. i couldn't see anything so i turned the car back on and all the lights were still on but the noise and vibrating had stopped. i made it home without it making the noise again. the next weeks went by and all the lights are still on and it makes the noise and vibration each time i turn the car on but and i pressed the brakes a few times it goes away expect the lights are always on now.
Break was fixed as part of recall but now the same problem reappeared. the dealer says fix was one off and now have to pay for diagnosis and repair. spent hours in many different calls to 1-800-nissan1. they are giving me run around and not authorizing the same dealer to redo the recalled components. the nissan agent refused to consider it a safty recall issue. nissan created case number: 26306021 agent id: 7319032
Takata recall "abs braking system ,entire system fails the brake light and abs brakel light, tics light all come on instrument panel, when stepping on brake pedal, then a wierd noise sound then brake pedal sinks to floor with the brakes grabbing and locking up causing tires to lock and slide, this happens frequently sometimes twice in the same time ,then it might go without occurring for weeks or months at a time, this is very dangerous i just happen to know somewhat how to deal with problem, as i'm applying brakes when it always happen, but if i was braking heavily and it happen no way ,would i not crash into what ever in front of me, it only happens while truck is in motion , and during braking.
Doesn't matter the speed of the vehicle, brakes tend to press to the floor, grinding noise and the only way to stop this is to pull over the vehicle, turn off the ignition and restart it. it randomly happens, but i am very concerned that if and when i tow or am on the highway, i don't won't my brakes to not work. could kill me...i have had an issue with brakes and lights coming on that says vdo ,antilock etc: when driving the suv at lower speeds and you try to apply the brakes the whole front end starts shaking and grinding and it is impossible to stop. i have replaced brakes, rotors , wheel hub bearings and still have this problem. it is scary when you can't stop a 7,000lb vehicle! i am in fear of an accident . i have read of others having the same problem. sometimes when running hyw speeds a lot of lights come on and dingers and this has been happening since i bought the armada. i want to know what nissan is gonna do about this problem cause it seems i am not the only one having these issues. by the way this is going on since i purchased the vehicle back on 10/2006.
Bought a 2004 nissan armada 08/08/2016 the second day i had to go to the dealers and pay close to 4xx to have a computer hooked up to it because my brake light came on and didnt have any brakes, it then happened the second week of owning the vehicle, called nissan north america at first i was told i would be reimbursed and my problem fixed then was told its out of warranty. regardless it was not my fault nissan does not no how to make vehicle or fix there fauly problems. then today i went out to start my truck and it will turn over all day long but will not start, i have a 2 year old special needs child and was heading to get his medication which can be very serious if hes without, contacted nna yet again with no luck. on top of the list of other problems iv had with this vehicle.
Brakes, at about 65mph car shakes violently, tv in the middle sounds like its falling out, engine turning over but not starting
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan armada. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced failures with starting, violent vibrations, and jerking. in addition, an abnormal noise was heard coming from the vehicle and the brakes failed to operate. the contact stated that the brake and tipm warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake lights needed to be reset. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
When you're driving, the car suddenly stops for 5 seconds the breaks to stop it constantly not to , one day we went to big bear and star down to fail and we will not put much attention after we arriived and we try to take to nissan in los angeles but now the car if you ar driving the car stop or you push the break to stop and dont work to stop , in the freweey not stop the break for little distancie crash went the other car.
I was driving about 30 mph on a city street and step on the brakes when approaching a stop sign. the brake pedal felt real soft and i could hear a grinding sound coming from the brakes and the abs and vdc lights came on. i had to pull off the road, turn the vehicle off and on again a couple of times before i could continue driving. this has happened to my wife and i 13 times.
Drive in parking lot with slow speed. red break light is suddenly on then the grinding sound is occurred. if try to touch the break, you feel it is difficult to response. it seems the break is engaged. it will be back to normal when you turn off the engine then turn it on. the red "break" light is off then back to normal. no any beak oil leaking. go garage to check the odb2 code and there is no any error code for it. it seems the break booster gets messed up and no code recording for 2004 armada. it is safety issue that the break will engage randomly. it is lucky that it happens in the parking lot with almost stop speed. it will be terrible when it happen in the high way.
I have a 2004 nissan armada and had the brake light come on yesterday followed by the limited braking, shuttering and pulsing of the brake pedal.. this is my third incident, it happen in year 2014, 2015 and apr 29 2016. after turn the car off and restart it, the brake light goes off then stops normally again. i have brought my armada to nissan dealership in coon rapid mn. they charged me 130$ (diagnostic fee) and no problem solved. after research on internet after my third incident, i learned that thousands of people have experienced the same problem. there was a class action pending on this issues in state of california. why nissan is ignoring this problem?. we are scared to drive this vehicle now, i have spent 40k to purchase this vehicle back in 2004. please someone help resolve this issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan armada. while driving at various highway speeds, the brake warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and the brakes made a grinding noise. there was a decrease in stopping power when the brakes were applied. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster failed and would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Issue is the brake booster and delta sensor. truck has 85000 miles on it. the brakes keep failing, and you need to pull over, and restart the truck to get going again, sometimes several times. nissan has looked at it, but won't do anything unless they witness it. or they read the code.however, when you shut off the engine to clear brakes, and it clears the code. this is a dangerous situation, and needs to be addressed.
While driving and reaching either a stop light or stop sign or coming to a stop when applying the brakes the pedal depresses to the floor and the brakes grind it will continue to do that until you turn the car off and turn it back on. it has occured since the purchase of the vehicle oct 2014.
Doesn't matter the speed of the vehicle, brakes tend to press to the floor, grinding noise and the only way to stop this is to pull over the vehicle, turn off the ignition and restart it. it randomly happens, but i am very concerned that if and when i tow or am on the highway, i don't won't my brakes to not work. could kill me...
Brake light comes on and the vehicle makes a grinding sound when trying to slow the vehicle. braking is impaired. restarting the vehicle makes the problem go away.
The brakes went completely to the floor and the brake lights came on. had to pump brakes while backing out of driveway to stop. shut car off and let sit. restarted car and brake lights went off. was able to brake again but brakes felt soft. has brand new brake pads from approximately 2k miles earlier. took to mast body shot . paid $90 for diagnostic. c1179 code error was listed in malfunction for delta stroke sensational fault. recommendation was take to nissan dealership for possible update in software. mast service 574_546 2155 did not have expertise to fix issue. code was not currently malfunctioning at service center. probably reset when restarting vehicle but diagnostic still had error code in memory.
We are having a brake issue that is very random. so far it has happened at low speeds. when it happens the break pedal will get very soft and the abs will activate along with the break light on the dash. when you turn the armada off and restart everything resets and is normal. we have already replaced the brake booster, master cylinder, and had the computer reprogrammed. this problem has not been resolved by nissan, all they say is all the parts have been replaced and or reprogrammed so unless it can be duplicated there is nothing that can be done. this is very disappointing they are suppose to be reliable. we are also surprised that this has not been a recall because of safety
I'm having brake problems with my2004 armada.i turn the car on and the brake light coms on the brakes make grinding noise i turn the car off then back on and the brakes reset nissan service department said they can t find the problem because there is no code please address this issue and have a recall
Truck makes grinding noise and wont stop i eas deiving it in the highway . brake ligths and check engine came on ..tok it to check the check engine and it says code c1179 delta s sensor. i have been doing some research and look like there is a lot of complains regarding this issue..please help is my wife and kid daily truck.
I was driving and went to brake the vehicle and the pedal went to the floor the brake light came on in the dash and it was making grinding noises and there were no brakes. i pulled over and turned the car off and started again and it was ok. it happens periodically.
While driving brake light, vdc off light, and slip light came on. when brakes applied, very loud grinding noise happened and brakes would not engage. i was able to pull off the road safely and turn car off and back on. once car was turned on, lights remained on and brakes functioned normal. luckily, i was not going very fast and no other cars were close or an accident would have resulted. *tr
While driving on the highway with my 3 children, suddenly the vdc and slip lights came on, followed by the brake light. when i tried to slow around a curve and use the brakes to slow down i heard and felt a grinding sensation under the brake pedal and the brakes would not engage. luckily, i managed to slow down enough and come to a complete stop where i turned off the vehicle, turned it back on and the system reset. *tr
I own a 2004 nissan armada i bought it used 1 year ago after a couple of months i started see that the brake light will turn on (like if i had the emergency brake) and my suv would not stop the worst was in halloween when kids where crossing the street the light turned on and the stopping distance was huge thank god i was only going like 25 -30 mph nothing happened please nissan take care of this major problem . *tr
Every once in a while, when i apply the brakes, the brake pedal went to the floor and i heard a loud grinding noise from the front of the vehicle. this happens randomly. it could happen once or twice a month and then not at all for the next month. i immediately shut off the truck while cruising and turn it back on while cruising and it fixes the issue and i am able to stop fine. i have contacted nissan before and they failed to help me. through hundreds of posts of armada owner with the same issue it seem to be the brake booster in which an be up to 1500$ to fix. i cannot afford this fix and it seem that it should be a recall. were talking about brakes. i have 3 children and am very concerned. please help me with this repair - this has happened over 20 times. *tr
My wife was driving our 2004 nissan armada home from the grocery store. she was on a back road heading home when she applied the brakes to go around a sharp turn. instead of breaking, the vehicle made a loud grinding sound and the brake peddle vibrated violently. thank goodness she was able to manage the turn and that there were no other vehicles in front of her. if this would have happened on the freeway this could have been fatal. *tr
I will be driving down the street and all of the sudden my brakes will stop working, i would have to coast over to the side of the road turn the truck off and then turn it back on. then it will reset. i've taken it to the dealership and they said it no recall on the problem. i was also pulling my trailer and the same thing happen and i could stop so i had to go up on the medium to keep from hitting another car. *tr
I have a 04 nissian armada ..well about a month or two i was going threw town around 35 mph and i when to stop at light and didnt have but 20% brakes and the brake light was on i was scared to death i got stop at store cut the car off and hit emeregcy cause my hubby thought it m8ight have been on but it wasnt i craced car back up and brake light was off and seem like everything was fine but i got it towed to shop where they said brakes and everything looked great well a couple weeks ago the same thing happen i was going threw town around 25 mph and the brake light was on not the abs the brake light was on and i had very little brakes got to store cut car off and it was fine i took back to shop and got brakes rotors new brake everything and it did it again i am pi$$ed i have read over 250 review on this same problem happen to other people when is nissan going to do something i dont have money to put in this car that i thought was top of the line when i got it this is a issue that is going to kill someone nissan is going to be just like general motors please someone help me and tell me what to do. *tr
I currently drive my nissan armada to work 3 times a week. on occasion the brake light would come on out of nowhere and as soon as i step on the brake a loud grinding and springing noise starts to take place. luckily i was able to slow down a bit and pull over. i turned off the car and after a minute i turned it back on and it was safe to drive again. this continuously happens and i'm afraid to drive it especially if my kids are inside the car. i see over 300 complaints and yet nothing has been done. we see all these gmc recalls, yet here we are with this armada in just about the same dangerous situation. *tr
Yesterday i left the parking lot after work and after driving for a few minutes i noticed that the parking brake light was on. the parking brake was in the up position and the car was in drive. i have had issues with lights coming on even if nothing is wrong (tire pressure light). at the time i was traveling at a low rate of speed due to five o'clock traffic. so after getting onto the freeway the speed increased then i noticed when i depressed the brake pedal to slow down the vehicle began to shudder/shake and the brakes didn't seem to be working as they should. it was a noticeable grinding noise as well. so i continued on slowly(35mph) until i reached a point that i could stop. i checked to see if maybe i had leaking brake fluid. i saw nothing coming from under the car. i stopped the car in order to do this. well once i got back in and started the vehicle the light was off and the brakes were working as if nothing had happened. i am concerned because i see blogs where people have had the same problem as me. what i didn't see was a recall or any acknowledgement that the armada has a malfunction of some sort with the braking system. i have been reading about anything i can find that identifies the part or problem. so far nothing...i will be taking my armada to the dealership to get a diagnostic just to see what if any code will match my description of the events yesterday. i am worried that i will experience brake failure altogehter. *tr
I've made some research and i'm surprised to find out i'm not the only one that has this problem. sometimes without notice the brake light comes on as you try to brake you hear a loud grinding noise and loose braking power. i pull over turn off the truck for a few seconds, turn it back on and the brake light goes away. it works good after that but sometimes i get the same problem multiple times through out the day. it gets scary when traffic suddenly stops and that happens. nissan should really make a recall on this.
As driving i had a sudden red light when hit brakes pedal vibrated no braking and slipping, and making noises, and brake light came on, i was able to pull off the road in a parking lot and tested the brakes for about 10 mins but it was doing the same thing, i turn on and off but still, after maybe 15 mins, light when off and then i was able to drive. i got my oil change at nissan nalley in decatur ga. i told them what had happened and he said that the light form brake was already off, and was not going to be able to diagnosed since cpu had already deleted. just two days ago (5/29/14)at 78k while i'm heading to park with wife and daughters it does it again, now at about 25 mph, i pulled in a street with less traffic and did the same again, don't want to drive this car anymore, as im worried it happens at a higher speed with my love ones in, *tr
Applied brakes, brake light went on abs stopped working, brakes groan. they work at 10 %. please see youtube enter armada brake system problem. there are 100's of complaints for the exact same failure. there is a problem in the brake booster. once you shut off the vehicle and restart it the abs resets until the next occurrence. this has occurred many times over the years, this system failure will cause death if not addressed. *tr
My wife was driving about 30 mph in the evening and all of a sudden with no accident no fender bender or bump the side airbags deployed for no reason, shaken and scared she called me to inform me of the situation, thankfully my kids were not in the car at the time! i began to do research and found that i wasn't the only one, this airbag sensor that is bad on all armadas were recalled except the 04 model according to nissan customer service, so initially i was appalled, the nice lady at nissan said that in order for me to do anything further i would have to pay for a diagnostic out of my own pocket like the other poor guy on here who paid and was out of a vehicle for about 3 weeks just to end up in a situation where they won't do anything about it after they find that the sensor states vehicle was in a roll over accident even though it wasn't!!! what are we as consumers to do in a bad situation like this? car has about 137766 miles driven. *tr
