Driver's interior door handle broke when in normal use. unable to open door from inside the car. this could be a serious or fatal safety issue if there was a need to exit the vehicle in an emergency. an online review shows broken interior door handle is not an uncommon complaint in this model year car. this car was parked and stationary when the handle broke. the engine was off. this car only has about 40k miles on it. the handle apparently has inferior plastic parts in it and since it can break during normal use, it is even more likely to break if someone were panicked in an emergency.
Faulty transmission cvt
I have been having an issue with the gear lock not allowing me to get out of park. i have push to start and my car starts with no problems. this has happened more than once and the only way to get the gears to move is by pushing down the gear release lock. i do it have a video but there are complaints of thi and videos on youtube!
I was having problems with shuddering and vibration the car had a recall with cvt transmission software after i got the car back the vibration made it worse and bluettoth barely works
Transmission started shuddering, making loud noises, and then vehicle would stall and die in traffic, very dangerous. the transmission eventually failed and had to be replaced, twice. the new replacement failed.
Changing gear shifter is getting lock after putting the gear in park. it started with every once in a while getting stuck. now it never changes without having to stick a screwdriver to release the lock.
Takata recall - the hood flew up while being driven
I have 31,00 miles on my 2013 altima which i purchased about three-and-a-half years ago. i was in my car, and i tried to get out. i pulled on the door handle and the door wouldn't happen. i had to leave my car running in my garage and open the window to get out of the car. this would be dangerous in an emergency situation. this problem can result in death. if someone is in an accident and their window won't roll down, they wouldn't be able to get out of the car, and could get severely injured or killed by being trapped in the car.
The shift lock will not release. apparently the solenoid that releases the lock has ceased functioning. the same complaints are found all over the internet and nissan won't acknowledge it. they also want at least $750.00 to replace what is at best a $20 part. that's because it is part of the shift mechanism and they want to replace the entire unit. that leaves only two choices for those who can't afford a repair of that price. one is to disable the lock mechanism or the second is not shift into park at all and use the emergency brake. neither are sensible alternatives but with no help from nissan they are the only two available.
I was driving on highway at about 60mph on rt 95 in maryland and my sunroof exploded and glass fell all around me. the glass that was left was raised up, suggesting that the cause of the shatter was from something other than an item falling onto the sunroof from the outside.
The car gets stuck in park and will not shift, always when put in park will not shift and i noticed it happens with too many altima....should be a recall
Brakes make squeaky noise all the time. passanger airbag sign does not show even if someone is sitting
The back-up camera does not always operate correctly. at times, the camera picture is too dark to view and other times the picture is mostly orange. this takes away from the reliability of this safety device. i had this looked at three times. since it does not happen all the time, the malfunction was not repeated during the service visits.
Shift gear locks up in park and will not move unless you press the shift over ride. only 39000 miles on the car. vehicle is stationary when this happens.0
While entering onto interstate 64 in hampton, virginia i noticed fire coming up from the console between the gear shift and the arm rest. there were no warnings. the vehicle was completely destroyed. fire investigation report states that is was a mechanical failure. nissan company has been notified and a case number provided. they have stated they will investigate.
Passenger door handle does not open door even when manuel lock is in open position . can not exit car unless you roll down window and open from outside handle. once door is open you have to leave car running door open to roll up window before shutting off car. only inside door handle won't open car. outside getting into car is no problem. car was stationary on city street.
A/c failure and doesn't blow cold. compressor need replacement. in the beginning the car will stay cool on the freeway and sometime will blow cold when at a stand still. now will blow hot air because of compressor failure. i have seen this happen to 4 cars already in the past 4 motnhs.
I currently have a 2013 nissan altima and have just found out that my car needs a new head gasket!! the car always got its scheduled maintenance with oil, gas, and fluid levels always at the proper level. i went in for a check engine light and a noise coming from my car, also my air conditioning had suddenly went out. i found out i needed a new radiator. i did not drive the car after this, i ordered my parts and had the radiator installed a week later. the car was driving great. then i parked it shut it off and could not get it to start again. so the mechanic ran diagnostic on it and had a new code of cylinder misfire. so i changed out my spark plugs, but same thing happened. the car would start but once shut off it could not start again. then the mechanic noticed the plugs were wet and said that it was anti-freeze dripping in, thus his diagnosis a new head gasket is needed.
The windows on the front driver and passenger will not open from the inside of the car. in order to open the door you have to roll down the windows to open from the outside.
We noticed that our car's black dashboard was becoming sticky and shiny during the summer. this has developed into a serious safety issue because it affects my visibility when i'm driving. the melting dashboard creates a strong glare or reflection on the windshield which impedes my ability to see the road and my surrounds. i notified my local dealership and they refused to help me with this problem. i called nissan consumer affairs which also denied my request to solve this issue. it appears that the dashboard material that is used was not properly tested for higher temperatures or that this is simply a defective part. the residue on the surface of the dashboard could also be a health hazard as the dashboard is clearly degrading and may be emitting fumes within the cabin. i also suspect that left untreated, this melting dashboard has the potential to impact the deployment of airbags within the vehicle. i expect that nissan addresses these concerns and offers a solution to this manufacturing defect before it causes an accident.
I received two recall notices (airbag related and hood latch). i contacted the dealer as advised on the notice and was told that a recall specialist would have to call me me back to schedule. i did not hear from anyone for two weeks and then called the number listed on the notice for nissan national consumer affairs, as this was recommended if the dealer is unresponsive. the representative gave me a case number (22894092) and transferred me to my local dealer again. i was again told that i would be contacted by the service department to schedule this maintenance, but i have not heard back. it has been over one month since i initially called to schedule.
My vehicle has a known recall. i reported it the nissan dealership on ritchie hwy in glen burnie maryland in june of 2016. i was told they would get back to me. i have been driving and paying for a safety hazard for almost 1 year. please help me with this issue.
I purchased this car 1 year ago, and in the past 2 days (at 86k miles), it has died at a stop a total of 4 times while on the road when i came to a stop (3 times in 1/4 mile, uphill - could not get it back into drive, had 6 people push it to the side parking lot). i was not able to get it started till the 6th try in the parking lot (had to switch to neutral and then to drive in order for it to not shut off). this is absolutely the most terrifying experience i've ever had driving. i got this car because it had high safety ratings, what a joke - worst investment of my life!! i am now $12k in debt with a car that can't even get me from point a to point b without breaking down.
My auto do not even have 70,000 miles and needs a new transmission. $ 4,000 ??? really???
A/c does not cooling, just hot air.
I had my 3 pending recalls repaired this week at the nissan dealership, yet one is still left on the safercar.gov website (even though it shows no recalls on the nissan website) i cannot export my car overseas until the site has been updated. please assist, thank you. *tr
For unknown reasons, the brakes stay on causing the car to either not move, or to go into limp mode. when this happens, the gear shifter can be moved out of park without depressing the brake. also, the car can be started without having to depress the brake pedal. sometimes, the outside brake lights stay on, sometimes they don't. i replaced the brake light switch and manually operating the switch would not make lights go off. sometimes when driving, the brake system will release and vehicle accelerates rapidly, to the point of losing control. sometimes, a quick pump of the brake pedal will release whatever is going on-sometimes nothing will cause it to go back to normal. removing the negative battery cable will turn off the lights, but will not reset the problem. dealer has no suggestions to remedy the problem, except to let them keep the car and to start replacing parts until they make the problem go away. nissan america says nissan has already spent too much money trying to resolve previous issues on this car and would not spend another penny!!! private mechanic that is trying to troubleshoot problem is having no luck determining the cause. there are nissan tsb's about shorted wiring, but only nissan techs can acces those. car has been in shop 44 times for 62 days for various major problems that nissan can't or won't fix completely. nissan refuses to try to make the situation right, even though they admit the down time is exorbitant and not in lines with their company satisfaction guarantee.
While driving on route 128 north the engine hood flew open and smashed winsheild, top roof , bent both fenders, and engine hood. car went to auto shop for repairs. this was due to secondary hood latch failure.
I simply turned on my car when the rpm and speed gauge went out of control from 0 to max in stationary mode, the car was parked in my garage spot. this process occurred several times in a row, along with this the car engine was extremely loud making roaring noises and shuddering and vibratign. when i put my foot on the brake pedal nothing happened the car continued with the rpm and speed gauge cycling from 0 to max, i did not feel safe to attempt to drive the car. last month i had to have the car service because it would not accelerate while i was on the freeway the max speed on the car was 30 miles per hour. i got off the highway immediately and the car turned off when i parked it on the street. it took 3 attempts to finally turn on. the car did this again on a second occurrence before i could get it to the dealer, i was driving on the street and again the same issue occurred. the car stalls, jerks, vibrates on its own at random times. each time i have had my preventive services done at the dealer the car is in near perfect condition and nothing can be diagnosed, then the car has these incidents occur with no warning.
For 3 years we have been dealing with this particular issue, with no resolution. the dashboard light signaling that the passenger air bag is properly activated for an adult occupant comes on or does not come on when it is supposed to. this occurs whether the car is stationary or on the move. the dealer has told us not to put anything on the passenger seat = ridiculous. the dealer then said that it "reprogrammed the system". then the dealer told us that they needed to replace the sensor. i believe this has been done 2 x. we last had this attended to sept 15, 2015 but the "so-called repair" did not work again. this air bag issue is serious, and we feel unsafe in this car, therefore we have driven less than 2000 miles in 5 months - the car sits in the garage. the problem is intermittant = we don't know when the air bag system is functioning correctly - we must assume it is malfunctioning!
When driving on the highway my vehicle turned off. turned the car back on just fine. when i put it back into drive it turned off again. called 911 who transferred me to dps which had to shut all 5 lanes of traffic to push me off to the side. towed car to dealership which wrongfully diagnosed with a low battery key fob. same night after picking up my car it turned off in the middle of an intersection at night. luckily this time it stayed on after putting it in drive. my car is still undiagnosed at the dealership almost a full week later.
Loud vibrating sound when depressing the accelerator at 40mph and 70mph. at low rpms to car also vibrates around 25mph. it also vibrates at 40mph and 70mph when pressing on the accelerator.
Didn't deploy i hit the 2013 danrango truck from behind on my passenger front knocking the tire completely off the truck on the driver rar wheel.
60,064 miles my transmission went. the car is only 3 years old and should not be having these problems. i have looked up reviews on this car and seen this is a commen problem for this car. so why hasn't there been a recall on it? my car died in the middle of a highway and i could have been killed! i had to have it towed from the scene.
My transmission went out on a three year old car as i was driving on a highway. i attempted to push down on the gas pedal on the highway and the car would not accelerate. after i d able to pull over and attempted to drive pushing down on the gas the car began to roll backwards. when i switch to different gears the car rolled backwards. i had to be towed o the nearest dealership.
Shift lock is not working.
On 12/25/15 after leaving gas station, hood of car came open and crashed into windshield. i immediately pulled over and thankfully their were no cars in front of me nor the rear of me. it did not crack the windshield, but damage has be done to hinge and some body damage when the hood flew open.
While driving the vehicle on 12/17/15 on an on ramp to a highway, the secondary latch (recall previously at dealership to be repaired 7/2015) failed causing the hood to fly up. filed complaint with nissan who told us to take it to a dealership. we took it to a dealership in which they verified the secondary latch was not working and gave us an estimate of $3,200 in damages. we are still waiting for nissan to approve the repair of the latch and damages. they now are telling us that they have to send an adjuster to look at the car and that could take weeks. in the mean time, we are driving an unsafe vehichle with children.
Right front inside door handle inoperable. replaced inside door handle assembly (part number 80670-3ta0d)
While driving on the highway, the hood of the car came flying up and completely covered the windshield. the force was so great that it damaged the roof lining inside the car as well as knocked the sunglasses holder out of place (hanging by a wire),
While driving approximately 60-65mph, my sunroof glass exploded showing me with broken glass. no impact was made to the sunroof. i was driving on level ground, not under any overpasses, or by anywhere where something could have been thrown.
Backup camera signal to screen fails and loses picture when backing up. static appears on screen. occurs with random reverse movement. usually from parking lot or stall, indoor or outdoor, even own private dwelling garage. attempted remedy by nissan service was to replace audio component but still recurs. has happened about 8 times so far.
Parked vehicle and could not get out , the driver side door handle would not work, had to crawl over console to get out on passenger side. drove to my nissan dealer to get it checked and they couldn't do anything that day so an appointment was set up for next day sept. 17th, 2015. which i think should have been at least looked at because if my vehicle would have caught on fire or if i was involved in an accident i couldn't have got out of the car fast. i was also charged for this repair which now i am fighting with nissan because i am still under bumper to bumper warranty. which have only owned the car for 2 years and it doesn't have 36,000 miles on it. they are telling me i have to pay because of wear and tear. also the dealer told that i am the only person with this model and year that has had this problem. i have researched that in the models 2003-2008 had the same problem. i am fighting because they have charged me $114.98 to fix the cable because no parts are on my receipt and my console was lose and they also charged me $45 to tighten screws. the dealer also blamed this on me when my car has be in their shop for passenger side air bag staying on many times , when they did this repair my passenger side seat was always moved and used what is to say they weren't putting their weight on my console. i have owned many new vehicles and never had this happen. this is my third nissan and my second one bought from this dealership. i was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and if there is something that you can do to help me.
The check engine light has been on since september 2015. i have visited the dealer three times (until end-jan 2015) and there is no resolution. i have a metro mile tag that transmits me error codes and as per that the problem is p0037 - ho2s heater control circuit low bank 1 sensor 2 the dealer has not been able to resolve it and it is a absolute waste of time getting the vehicle to the dealer so many times.
2013 nissan altima recall notice malfunction hood release which could cause a collision. well happened to my daughter on august 9th, who had my permission to drive my car she by the way is 28. i was never notified of this recall, however my friend that leased the same vehicle two months prior at the same dealership, was notified. my daughter was just getting onto the expressway doing approx. 20 mph if that when the hood of my vehicle "released" and blew up against the windshield to where she could not see at all. luckily god was with her and she was able to pull over safely. my vehicle is still at a nissan dealership as of today, august 26th, collision shop still sitting in the same spot that it was towed to. over 6,000.00 in damages for a recall that i should have been notified and nissan should be praying and feeling blessed that this horrific accident and believe me it was horrifying to see that people were not killed, shame on nissan corporation for me not receiving the recall notice, shame on nissan for not figuring out when my car was in for service that my vin number showed nothing or it was ignored, recall notices are connected automatically to any numbers whether car, appliance, car seats, etc., come on we are living in 2015. shame on nissan that this is not important to them to help me. i have dates and records of communication and am trying to reach out and try to make this public however i am at a stand still and need advice and help, thank you! *tr
When crossing an intersection my car stopped and would not go for a few seconds. i was just fortunate there were no cars coming. it's has stopped like this many times i just haven't been in the middle of an intersection. my pregnant daughter was very upset when it happened to her on an occasion she was driving it. i'm also extremely unhappy about the rust in my wheels. i can't believe that a 2013 car has this happening. i had a 2007 montaro that had less rust around its tires before i traded it for this car. i'm extremely disappointed.
The secondary latch on the hood of my car failed - causing my hood to fly up while i was driving.
In 2015 the a/c compressor when out and was covered under warranty, then 21/2 years later the compressor went out again and nissan refused to repair. two compressors in 5 years and they didn't think this was a issue. i end up paying 1200 dollars to replace after 2/12 years.
Not 2 years yet of ownership and my car decides to not accelerate on me. i would have to floor it to get it to finally kick in and drive until i stopped at the next light. there were no warning lights or anything letting me know of any problems. had 2 near collisions with my family in the car trying to get my car to the dealer to have it checked out. dealer thought it was transmission and alternator but upon warranty rep diagnosing vehicle, it was decided that it needed a new alternator. was without my vehicle for almost 3 days but put in a rental from their dealer which wasn't any better with a constant noise while driving. a couple of months later the same thing happened again as i was getting on the freeway after work with my son. had to get off and drive to the dealer. apparently, they fixed the wrong thing. a few days after picking up my vehicle from getting the check engine light fixed, the check engine light went on again. didn't note anything major while driving but was just awful having to take back the vehicle when i had just picked it up literally 2-3 days before. the dealer kept my vehicle through the holidays and it took them 3 days to determine what was wrong with it. i was finally told that i needed a throttle chamber replaced. was never told what the part was responsible for doing and why it wasn't found when they had it previously. still not 2 years of owning the vehicle. personally, too many issues with my 2013 altima vehicle in less than 2 years and nissan consumer affairs keeps washing their hands of any defect or lemon law. these things which i have experienced are not little or minor by no means and have endangered myself and my family, especially the incidents with the alternator and the mas sensor. need someone with common sense and a true feeling of caring for their customer's safety to replace my vehicle before something worse happens.
I have a 2013 altima that shudders/hesitate/vibrates intermittently upon acceleration. i have taken it to the dealership twice. upon picking up my car, i have been told that the issue could not be duplicated. the problem started at approximately 25,000 miles. i am know at 54,000 miles and fear that the warranty will be up before a solution is found. the shuddering/vibration/hesitancy can happen anywhere. i have researched the issue online and found numerous complaints, however, no recalls.. i am sure nissan knew of the defect prior to releasing the vehicles and something needs to be dont to correct this issue.
