Problems with 2013 Nissan Altima UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2013 Nissan Altima starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 74 434 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2013 Nissan Altima

Handles are breaking from the inside causing an issue where i can't open door from inside. driver side and now one of my back doors is doing same thing! i have seen multiple complaints about this for this year of altima sedan

The inside driver's side handle has broken. this happened all of a sudden one morning when the vehicle was in park. it was very cold the night before and was below freezing at the time of this occurring. it is loose and will not open the door. in order to exit the vehicle, the window must be rolled down and the door must be opened from the outside. this happens whether the car is on or off.

My suspension has busted off the frame of the vehicle. this occured while the vehicle was in motion. it caused the tired to bend and vehicle was not driveable. it messed with the steering in the front as well. lost traction control. i have many pictures i can send by email. i already submitted a complaint with # 11267024. i have contacted nissan direct and they told me there is no safety issue or recall for this or that nhtsa was not investigating anything into this matter. i am seeing you are looking into this matter. nissan refused to fix the car or help me in any way. they were extremely rude and impossible to get ahold of. i have spent over a week trying to reach someone. nissan will not help in any way and do not care if anyone gets hurt or this happens again. something needs to be done. it is now my problem to get the vehicle repaired and i do not feel safe driving it especially because i have children. nissan could care less. the repair was quoted between $800-1200 and nissan cannot do a "goodwill repair" because they claim the vehicle is to old (its 6 years old) and has high mileage. i bought the car with over 50k mileage in 2014. all my mileage is highway. i avg 17k a year in mileage.... average is 12k. nissan should have done the right thing and repaired the vehicle. they refuse! i get told its all about vin #'s and part #s. it is a failure across the board on all 2013 models. a recall needs made asap.

My suspension broke off the frame of the car while moving on a turn after being at a complete stop making a left. the rear driver side detached from the frame making the car unmovable and bending the tire almost at a 90 degree angle.

The car would not accelerate from a stop light. it would just do low-rpm revs then eventually crawl then rev super high and accelerate super fast. the transmission would take about 10 seconds to engage at every light and once it did it would lurch forward. stalled 3 times. 2013 nissan altima with exactly 85,500 miles. called nissan and they said the know of no recalls or issues with the transmission and it is no longer under warranty but to take it to a nissan dealer to have it looked at. check engine light finally came on with code p0776, and pending codes of p 0776 p0965 p2813.

I have had the following issues with the nissan altima: air bag sensor issues sometimes sensor malfunctions (looked at 3 x, not fixed), rear view camera sometimes does not work (looked at 3 x, not fixed), transmission cvt issues sometimes jumps into gear (looked at 3 x, not fixed), seat belt sometimes locks up (looked at 1 x, not fixed). issues happen while in motion or starting.

The lower control arm in the rear passenger side rusted totall out and my i am so lucky i didn't die or the pedestrian !!!!! i lost control of my car and almost hit someone as a result! why is the world would this part rust out??? why is something not being done to fix this safety concern? because no one has died from it yet? is that what is needed to take care of this issue for other people? the picture is attached - see the rear wheel?

I began doing research after my vehicle did this to me the other day twice. while driving between 40-50 mph the car just shut off. lights illumined on the dash board and thankfully i did have power steering and brakes so i was able to coast onto the side of the road and restart the vehicle in park however this could be a dangerous and deadly situation to either me or innocent bystanders/drivers. from what i have been reading this is a common problem in nissans.

The rear suspension on our vehicle detached unexpectedly and without warning while we were driving. the vehicle was driving straight on a city street. thankfully no one was injured. once the vehicle no longer in motion it was apparent that the rear control arm / rear suspension had detached from excessive rusted. the vehicle is a 2013 with no outer body rust. it seems like this could be a defect as well as a significant safety issue.

The the projector inside my headlight is burned out .causing visibility issues at night time. changing the headlight assembly is my only option

The vehicle will not start after warm up/driving for a while and then turned off. it will continuously run if engine does not get turned off. in order to start the engine again, it has to cool down, then the cycle starts again. it only happens when hot. it always starts cold or cooled down. took it to nissan dealer for diag and they said that is was the fuel injectors, so we replaced them on their advice - but that did not solve the problem. this is issue started recently. this is a well kept and maintained 2013 altima with the qr25de 4 cyl engine and only ~ 92,nnn miles.

Takata recall: while driving on a paved road at a speed of about 45 mph, the right rear subframe failed catastrophically due to apparent corrosion. the failure occurred at the location of the bushing to the frame. the result was that the rear wheel offset and control of the vehicle was compromised. this is a historic problem with nissan and they have not addressed the problem with the new model in 2013. it is unsafe and unfair that owners pay for nissan's refusal to address the problem. more photos will be available when the subframe is removed.

Vehicle will shut off when driving

My driver's side lower control arm broke and i lost control of my vehicle. it corroded and broke on one side. i was driving at 28/30 miles an hour, hit a bump and heard something pop and the car spun out of control.

Rear control arm on my nissan altima 2013 came apart on an interstate pushing me on to the left lane almost at 65 mph. got really scared as i usually drive with my new born but luckily he was not in the car when this happened. the car has less than 60k miles and i had to replace them on both sides on the rear as they mentioned the other one too is going to break soon. really disappointed as had to make a huge repair spending 1300 bucks for a car that is only used to run few errands over the weekend as i commute on train for work. *dt*jb

Transmission issue

My transmission is not working it has cause i as well as my fiance to have to miss work sometimes because of the cvt the car shakes and shutters and cuts off this happened to me while on the highway and my fiance where we could have been hit and ended up in a bad accident.

Driving on an uphill street car would not go and i would have to push hard down on gas i had my son in the back seat i then pulled over to set car at park and turned off let it sit for about five mins turned car back on put it on reverse and it went forward i set it pack to park gear and then back to reverse and it complied not the first time now it's just more common and this time it freaked me out it wasn't a little burp as the other times had car for only about 6 going on 7 months and i restricted l myself from driving my own car that i just purchased to then being told transmission failing and 8 recalls

No accident or any work, driver side airbag light remained on. reset not working. ac compressor also gives up. 150k.

The gear shifter stuck in park this is my 2nd shifter within 2 years, been replaced before now it messing up again. i need help with this.

Recently i caught a flat and pulled over on the shoulder on i95 to put on my spear tire after i was finish and got back in the car and was proceeding to pull off,i couldn't. turns out my shifter was stuck in park and would not move. being stranded on the shoulder of i95 with my family in the car until a tow truck came was a very fearful moment and feeling knowing that the cars and truck zipping bye can possibly hit me by accident while i wait on the shoulder waiting for a tow truck. after the tow truck driver came to me and my family's rescue and the he showed me how to bypass the shift lock release. after experiencing such a horrific ordeal i decide to research this problem and come to find out it seems to be a major issue that many (2013-15) nissan altima owners have experienced with the automatic transmission shift lock mechanism that prevents the automatic transmission shifter from coming out of park. the shifter remains stuck in park position and will not shift, numerous complaints have been filed for nissan not to know of the serious matter that qualifies as a legitimate recall. there is a electric interlock solenoid that when the brake is applied,it unlocks the gear shifter to allow normal gear changing of the automatic transmission. the only way to disengage the shifter from park, one would have to pry open the shift lock release cover with a screwdriver and insert the screwdriver in the release slot to be able to move the shifter. nissan knows very well that they should issue a recall for this problem but hasn't done nothing. videos found online show doityourselfers how to hack this problem without paying the nissan dealers $1,000 repair cost.

My nissan altima 2013 2.5s has started having this issue - often the gear stick will get stuck in park mode and won't come out. this happens especially when the car is started. screw driver or a sharp item needs to be used to release the shift lock. this is painful and it can occur anytime. i took to dealer. dealer said it could cost more than 500$ to fix the shift lock. when searching in the internet, many nissan altima cars have this issue. below web page shows all nissan altima owners have complained about the same issue. https://www.carcomplaints.com/nissan/altima/2013/transmission/gear_shift_stuck_in_park.shtml considering this as an issue for many cars, nissan should issue a recall on this. i hope filing here will help all nissan altima owners to get a relief on this issue. please help. thanks

My call stalled when i was stationary, in drive, at an intersection. since then whenever i shift into either drive or reverse the car stalls and shuts off. the check engine, check battery, and general warning light all come on when i experience this problem. i have seen other people on various online forums report this issue. my nissan altima 2013 has a little over 80,000 miles on it. i am the only owner of this car.

When placed in the park position, the shift gear will not move.

Rpm meter fluctauating, p0841 -faulty transmission fluid pressure sensor. check engine light on

I was driving on the freeway and my car just started to lose power, in a speed zone of 60mph my car was quickly dropping speed/power. no check engine like came on, nor had any signs of my car needing service came up, nothing. when i would try speeding up it started to make a rattling noise, still less power. i pulled over on the side of the freeway because there were cars coming very fast and once i pressed on my brake to make the stop, my car stalled. it wouldn't turn on anymore and i had to leave my car there. this was seriously such a safety issue, this happened at night time when i was traveling. i've read very similar issues with the year and model of my car online about it being a problem with the transmission. i don't know why there isn't a recall if it's such a dangerous issue. my car has just been parked for 6 weeks because no check engine light will come on and it's driving 'normal', but i'm not taking that risk again of driving it.

The control arm broke in my 2013 altima. the mechanic said he has never seen one break like this and it appears to be a defect on the weld. i looked online and see other people have had similar complaints and it is under investigation.

On 3/25/19 my 2013 nissan altima stalled while driving home from work on a city street. while driving to work the following day 3/26/19 during rush hour traffic on a city street my car shut off without warning while idle. there were no dash lights to indicate what was wrong with my car. the car starts but when it is placed in gear it shuts off again and again. this is a safety hazard, thankfully i was not on the freeway. i was finally able to get the car started and pulled into a gas station. i have to get my car towed to a dealership due to it shutting off.

The transmission on my 2013 altima failed at 87,899 while in motion on the highway. cost to replace $3,802.

My clutch in stuck in "park". this has been dangerous for my family and i bc if we are stuck in traffic i would put my car in park, and when traffic starts moving again my car is now holding up traffic behind me bc my car is stuck in park. this car is only 6 years old and i've already had to get the transmission replaced. nissan needs to know they can't sell cars that cause a danger to families!!!!!!!

Gear shift is unable to move. it will not move when breaks are pressed. also, engine dies when car is put in reverse or drive. the engine will also die while driving, and when i go to turn it back on, it only dies when i try to switch the gears.

Unable to release vehicle from p position by pressing the brake. the bypass button has to be pressed in order to release.

Seat belt light stays on when there someone sitting in the seat and have the seat belt on....and the gearshift locks for no reason. for the seatbelt this will be my second time tacking it in for the same reason.

- replaced 3 alternators - less than 60k miles - now the transmission is failed and needing replaced - too many significant quality issues for a new car

My family and i wore going on a trip after 2 hours my nissan altima turn off bad at 67k miles nissan is not willing to help because it's out of the warranty. it's very dangerous when you are on the road with your family so far from home. it happened in san antonio,tx. this issue can be very dangerous for the passengers and drivers. i have been doing research and there's also alot of videos on youtube from nissan owners (altima's)

When the vehicle is stationary, i am unable to change the gear out of park even though the brake is pressed. it takes several attempts before i can successfully change the gear out of park. this has been happening for almost a week.

Accelerating between 0 to 50mph, transmission shudder occurs. it might not be a problem now, but according to many mechanics and dealers, the transmission could fail any time, days or years. driving with such uncertainty is very dangerous. what if the transmission fails while i am driving. there are many of the same problem with this model.

When some one sits in the passenger seat the seat belt notification ding does not come on and it also says the air bag is turned off. just recently purchased no accidents reported to my knowledge.

Yesterday while i was driving on the road, my right side back view mirror blew up with a huge bang. and the whole thing was in million pieces fly away. on the plastic it has black marks inside, looks like it burned inside and then it blasted

While driving on the highway at about 67 mph my entire car swerved to the left side. i felt like my steering wheel was loose and the wheel alignment was suddenly off. i did have to have the car towed from work. the final diagnosis is my left rear control arm split in half and my right rear control arm is cracked in the same spot. this is a significant safety issue as it could of caused a major accident if there was a car to the left of mine during this incidence. nissan reports $1192.05 to replace both rear control arms. i am in the process of attempting to get reimbursement from nissan because the local nissan dealership states that they stock the parts for the repair because they have had a a few of them lately. my case # with nissan is 33841223

After purchasing this vehicle brand new, first owner in september 2013, 4 months later the left fog light went out did not think anything of it. two months later the right head light went out. thought it was weird but did not stress myself about it. a year later the right rear light only works when you tap it. now i am driving all the lights are out from the car. no brake lights no park lights no lights. took my vehicle to tire kingdom to change bulbs only to find out the new bulbs are not working either and the vehicle has a n electrical problem. never did understand why drivers behind me would honk their horns at me or be flashing me with their high beam lights. nissan needs to fix this issue as well as their air conditioning problem. the vehicle only gets cool when the vehicle is in motion. you cannot have the a/c on when being stationary the a/c only produces heat during that time.

The vehicle would not come out of park even when pushing the button on the gear shift - the button to push on the console would not engage and release it from park either - we were at a gas station on an 1800 mile trip - i finally broke the button on the console and stuck my sunglasses bow into the console button and now i have to do that every time i drive. it's really more a matter of inconvenience than anything but considering what consumers pay for cars the expectation is everything should work at least until the first tire change

First issue: went to open inside driver door and heard something snap. now the door handle just flops back and forth without opening the door. second issue: i put my foot on the break and tried to move the gear shifter from park to reverse. the button that you would press to shift wouldn't move. now my car is stuck in park. both of these issues happened with the car stopped. my only issues is someone with the same car and same year has had both issues happen the them as well. the only difference between our car is mine has 78,000 miles and hers has 56000 miles.

The battery seems to drain quickly for no reason even i had a new battery installed.i had to jump start my car very often.this has been happening for the past 4 years.i have owned this car for 6 years now.

Takata recall my gear shifter remains in a stuck position. the car was stationary on a city street. i was unable to shift from park to another gear. this is a major safety issue as i have gotten stuck with my toddler in the car and was unable to move to a safer location. it took me at least 15 minutes to get the car to shift from park into gear. i was terrified! i had to leave the car in its location and take a lyft home with my daughter. the next day my local mechanic came to check the car. he said that this is a common issue for 2013 nissan altimas. he said he would have to take the car to his shop to investigate what might be causing this failure or i should call up nissan because they should be aware of this safety issue.

Both my driver interior door handle and passenger interior door handle within weeks of each other fail to open doors. after looking online this is a common problem with the altima and due to a cheap plastic part that breaks which holds steel wire to engage handle mechanism. this is a danger and can cause life threatening problems because the only way to get out is to crawl to back doors or use power windows to lower windows and reach arm outside window and open via ecterior handle. if there was a fire or crash or end up in water there would be little chance to excape if power went out of injury. this should be a recall, i was quoted $185 dollars per door handle for a the fault of nissan quality parts.

Around 7 months ago my car was jerking and stops in the middle of a highway, it was tow to the dealer and they just "reset the car". today happened again, the car start but stops when changing the gear to drive or reverse mode same situation as the last time.

My car has 53,000 miles on it and being a single mom of 3 i can't afford to put new transmission in it. i still have payments on the car. does this car have a cvt warranty?

The gear shift would not go into gear after it is parked or when you try to put in reverse. the gear shift would get stuck. this would happen when the car is in park.

This is in regards to the cvt transmission. in february 2018, while my car was in idle mode, my car shuddered and stalled. when i put it in park, shut the car off, and restarted it, the car turned back on. however, when i shifted back in "drive" the car would shudder and stall. after many attempts, the car finally worked. later that day, while at a stop sign the car shuddered and stalled. i had to get it towed to the nissan dealership. they did a diagnostic. nothing showed up. my local mechanics replaced a sensor because they thought that could have been the problem. fast forward to august 2018. my car while driving slow began to shudder and then stall out. i brought it to nissan. this time the diagnostic test said i need a valve body replacement. that costed me $1100. 2 weeks later. i was driving and when i started to slow down my car shuddered then stalled. i restarted it fortunately and brought it back to nissan. they did another diagnostic. this time they said the cvt transmission needs to be replaced. i have done much research on this. many people had this problem. my car is a 2013 nissan altima with 65k miles on it. there is no reason why this should be happening. nissan knows this is a problem, yet they do nothing about it.
