My altima is having a problem with the shift release. i have to use the shift lock release mechanism every time i need to move the shifter from park to drive.
Air conditioning compressor blows hot air. machanic stated that the a.c compressor has internal mechanical failure causing high suction side pressure. also, it is under 100,000 miles and shouldn't be having this problem.
My car recently today stated to lock the dear shift when i park it started this morning and has continued every time i turn off my car. previous issue i took it in to nissan tynans on havana in aurora co (never go there) because it is sputtering any time i accelerate at any speed on any road right before it would what you call back in the day shift into another gear. tynans first said it was a battery cable and when it wasnt fixed they are say there isnt anything wrong with the car. i believe the cvt is causing it to sputter i told tynans i thought it was a transmission issue to begin with. needless to say my car is not fixed and is still sputtering and just bought it owe about $14000 still!
3 door latches broke on my 2013 nissan altima, within 3 weeks of each other. i took my car to nissan for repairs thinking it would be covered under a warranty or recall as so many other owners had the same problem. the dealer informed me that there was a defective plastic part in the latch that breaks on that model vehicle; this particular dealership had fixed 30 or so within the past year. it cost me about $500 to have it fixed. i had been rolling the driver-side window down to get out but had to have the back doors repaired because i have small children and if there had been an accident the children would be trapped in the backseat. i called customer care to complain. they considered my case for about a week and came back with a determination that they could not cover it because it was out of warranty. even the nissan dealer indicated that since so many of these vehicles had the same problem a recall should be given. i am disappointed at the lack of action provided by nissan! god-forbid if someone gets hurt because they can't get out in the event of an accident! i have attached 9 pages of complaints from other 2013 altima owners who have the same problem. nissan should immediately issue a recall and reimburse those that have already had the problem fixed.
The car shift lock button locks the car in gear, the car is unable to be shifted from a park position to drive, reverse or any other gear while in park or any other gear. this is very dangerous and frightful if you have an emergency and the car cannot be put into gear! i fear for my safety because when i was parallel parking on a street passing cars had to wait and came dangerously close to hitting my car.
Takata recall after returning from a road trip i noticed my car shaking and when changing gears the car pauses before accelerating. i have an extended warranty but it only covers the engine. was told that nissan recently extended their warranty to 100k miles where they would be able to fix the repairs and give me a rental while it's in the shop. nissan is not going to fix the repairs but this is an ongoing problem with this model.
Interior door handle(s) break because only plastic is used to secure a metal ball attached to the cable to open the door. at around 40 to 60,000 miles the interior handle breaks, almost consistently based on online research. this known problem should be repaired by making the area where the cable attaches more sturdy, or use a more sturdy material such as metal. if this handle were to break while trying to exit the vehicle due to an emergency, the results could be catastrophic.
While driving home from work the car shuttered and cut off after having stopped for a light. this happened when i press the exhilarator to continue on. i put the car in park applied my foot to the break and restarted the car. every time i would drive to put the car in gear it would cut off. it kept doing this over and over. local police came and with the help of a good samaritan pushed my car off the road to a safe place. i had to have my car towed to the dealer where they were unable to duplicate the problem and said that the diagnostic computer test did not show any codes for the problem. they ended up updating the transmission module and said they hoped this would fix the problem. the problem continues to occur and i have had to avoid stopping at lights due to the car wanting to cut off. this seems to be a problem that other nissan car owners are also facing. this is a very dangerous situation to be in due to the fact that you never know when you will be stranded in the middle of a street whether it be interstate stop and go traffic or normal city street traffic. once the car stalls it's no way to start it and put it in gear to drive without it stalling again and again. nissan owners need a recall
Consistent with nhtsa item #10119276, the magnet clutch to the air conditioner compressor does not engage causing the air conditioner to blow hot air. under certain conditions, this could potentially overexpose tthe operator to dangerous levels of heat which could adversely affect the operator's ability to safely control of the vehicle and therefore lead to crashes as well as injury to the operator such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. when the vehicle is moving, the risk of the operator's overexposure to the heat can be reduced by rolling down the windows. however during rainfall, at slow speeds or while at a standstill, that option is not available. as an example, while i was driving on the interstate, i reached a section that was shut down. the traffic was backed up and i was trapped on the interstate forcing me to operate my vehicle at a standstill for an extended period of time. when my overexposure to the heat caused me to become faint and disoriented, i abandoned my vehicle on the interstate and made my way to the shoulder of the interstate. a doctor caughtup in the traffic backup saw me and while attending me stated that i was suffering from heat exhaustion. other motorists assisted him and were able to find someone with a cooler of ice and so the doctor was able to treat me by icing me down. the doctor told me that i was on the verge of heat stroke which was an emergency situation. this incidence made me realize that a defective air conditioner is not simply uncomfortable and an inconvenience but because under certain conditions it can adversely affect the operator's ability to safely control the vehicle, it can lead to unsafe driving conditions. i now believe that any problem that has the potential to adversely affect the operator's ability to safely control the vehicle should be considered a safety issue.
Drivers side door handle. something inside broke and the handle swings freely. it will not open the door. we have to roll down the window to get out of the car. i have been researching online and apparently this is an ongoing issue for nissan altima 2013-2015. i do not understand why there has not been a recall about this issue. we arrived home and i tried to get out of the car something inside the door snapped, and i'm no longer able to open the door from inside the car. if the car were to catch on fire and the electric window does't open i would be trapped.
Can't shift out of park without using shift lock override
The gear shifter sticks in park sometimes it doesnt come out of gear now for a 2013 with 43.000 miles why does this happen
While parked (or anytime the gear shift is in the "p" position; the gear shift will not shift out of "park". the dealer made the suggestion to install a new brake switch. i purchased the new brake shift and the dealer installed it, however, the problem still persists. for safety reasons, i would like this to be done as a recall by nissan motors and there have been a large number of complaints by owners having the same issue.
The gear/shift got stuck at parking. every time i drive, i have to use a screw driver to manially release the shift lock
While accelerating from a stop at at red light, overdrive turned off by itself.
Takata recall i was driving home from work i stopped at at red light my car began to shake and cut off, it did that a few times before i was able to pull off. shop couldn't detect anything it did the same thing again 3 days later shop found nothing again.
Driving down the highway at about 70 mph the closed sunroof exploded. thankfully there were no other cars around and the visor was closed so i was uninjured by the shattered glass. it sounded like a gun shot.
1. break switch needed replacing and now the issue is happening again as far occasionally loses power causing some potential safety issues in pulling out into traffic. 2. both passenger and driver interior door handles do not open door which is a major issue as the only way to open doors is to roll window down. in an emergency this could cause serious threat to safety if windows can not be rolled down.
2013 nissan altima with only 52k miles i first noticed the problem when i was backing out of my drive way; first it stalled, shaky when i accelerate slightly it was fine. when i went to change to park mode; experience the same thing stalked&shake if i stopped at a light, stop sign, or change speed i experienced the same problem this will happen in busy traffic, highways in fact my 17 year old daughter (1st time driven herself home from work) experience it, at a very busy intersection she couldn't get the car going. we had to turn the engine off for about 15-30minutes and pressed/ pulsed the gas to finally get it to move... this all happened for 3 days and i took it to nissan dealership (payed $140 to diagnose the problem) mechanic said just from driving the car into the shop, 9/10 it may be the transmission. to pinpoint the problem they will have to remove the cover body ($546) and if it's the transmission, repairs will cost $4600!!!! even though mileage is within the warranty range of <60k it's not covered because they claimed the car was in an accident and was salvaged. i really don't understand why that will impact it given the car had only 13k when i purchased it. it seem this is common problem reported by many with this particular car. from what i have read, complains dating back to identical to issues with 2008-2011 models, multiple recalls... this sort of problems could course accidents and loss if life. these are human problems...i believe nissan should be held accountable and to much higher standards in this space- vehicle manufacturing, dealership, parts, sales, repairs etc. if nothing is done to address these issues, i will never purchase a nissan!!!
Takata recall i recently went to try and get an oil change at my regular place that i usually go to receive one and they were not able to open my hood because somehow the latch on the inside of the car would not work when you pull it so that caused my hood to be jammed and i was unable to open it.
While driving down an open highway, the sunroof glass exploded and fell into the car. at the same time (related somehow?) the back windshield shattered, but remained intact (at least for a while, it later completely collapsed). i had not driven under any overpasses and there were no vehicles close enough to have thrown a rock.
I have had three doors that are not working properly and it seems it can become a safety issue if involved in crash because doors will not open from inside. it appears to be a manufacturing issue due to numerous complaints online surrounding exact same issue please help what food is it to get it fix only to have it happene again because of parts used by manufacturers.
The gear shifter will not move out of park into any other gears.
Gear shift locked in park.
Was driving my 2013 altima sl and without any warning the transmission started slipping, stopped vehicle, and everytime i attempted to put car in drive or reverse, the motor died, and i restarted the motor due to the bitter cold weather conditions, called nissan north america talked to colleen agent # 731913 with my concerns on 12/29/2017, after hanging up with colleen and continuing to try to get the vehicle to, called nissan north america again and spoke to erik case # 29343050, who adviced me to call nissan the next day 01/01/2018. i called and it was a holiday and not opened. , finally got the vehicle in drive and attempted to drive it home with transmission slipping and motor dying in heavy bumper to bumper holiday traffic. on 01/02/2018 contacted nissan north america, was advised to take vehicle to nearest nissan dealership, and they would pay $100.00 towards the record bill. i paid this wrecker bill out of my pocket with receipts. the vehicle was delivered to walter's nissan 30 walter's lane pikeville, ky. 41501 on 01/03/2018 were it was evaulated and determined to be complete cvt transmission failure, and would be replaced. i have the nissan security plus gold preferred vehicle service contract 60 months/75,000 miles, service contract # 0 7236319. this car has 68,000 miles on it, and the contract expired on 01/04/2018. it was in the dealership on 01/03/2018 and determine with the cvt transmission failure. i called walter's nissan on 01/05/218 and was told they had ordered a new cvt transmission under warranty. today i was advised by walter's nissan dealership they was in a dispute with nissan america regional specialist, due to the warranty expiring on 01/04/2018, today 01/08/2018 and would not honor the warranty or a request for a rental car. the cvt transmission has had many failures similiar to mine, yet nissan america still markets this vehicle
Car will not release from park unless you press on the brake release button. this happened as my car reached 65k miles. this could be a huge issue and safety if someone was to be stranded out somewhere and they are h able to leave because there car will not come out of park. this problem is affecting a lot of vehicles coming out of nissan.
Inside door handle is made of plastic. this cheap plastic hook's on the end of the cable that causes the door latch to open the door. when this hook brakes the entire door handle assembly must be replaced. this must be an engineered to fail handle that is made to break quit easily. if you look on ebay, hundreds have been sold. i can imagine how much extra revenue and how often dealers get to replace this simple piece of hardware. the problem is easily solved by making the hook out of metal.
Takata recall washed my car on thursday evening parked it in garage for the night. the next morning i was able to pull it out of garage and back in hours later. roughly 6 hrs later went to start it and nothing!!! when i hold brake down and push button it will turn over but wont spark. i have been researching online and seems i am not the only one this has affected.
Takata recall - received notice of recall on airbags. will be taking in vehicle to have fixed
We have a customer who is leasing this vehicle from us. there was a hood latch recall that was performed in may 2017. the hood latch still will not open. the customer cannot drive it. i went to orr nissan in hot springs, ar and they said this recall is not warrantied. we have tried to diagnose opening the hood latch, but are having no such luck to assist this customer. the customer does not want to spend any additional money at this point. is there anything that you can do to help to honor and warranty this recall that was already performed?
Takata recall, my driver side airbag warning light is showing on from last 15 days when i just started driving. plus my shift lock sensor is not working. i put the gear on park on a gass station but when i tried to start it wont let me change the gear unless i opened the shift lock cap and tuck something in and try to change the gear to drive the car. since then i have ti tuck something to change the gear from parking to anything else.
I was in my car leaving a restaurant in holland stopped, got out immediately, and the tire was in huge shredded pieces. it could not be driven and i had to call a wrecker to have it hauled to a tire shop for $99 and buy a new tire. i bought this 2013 nissan used from an authorized nissan dealer and they refused to make any reimbursement. these were the tires they had on it. i was moving when this happened--in a parking lot and turning
After leasing the car for about 4 months, the car developed an issue at 83,000 mile mark. when attempting to turn left or right from standstill the car stalls. i would press down the gas pedal all the way down and the car would not move or accelerate until 6 seconds or so later. sometimes the car doesn't move at all until i move the steering wheel back and forth. from this i can infer it has to do with the power steering or something electrical. it only happens when the steering wheel is turned halfway or more at a stop. kinda like a power outage at that since all the lights dim and sometimes even the hvac fan speed goes down while while the car is unable to move. this is extremely dangerous as i was trying to make a left turn while there was a pause in opposite traffic and the car just rolled a little and stopped since i depressed the brake pedal while accelerator pedal did absolutely nothing until i straightened the steering wheel. after my car rolled out into oncoming traffic i could of easily gotten in a crash if the oncoming cars didn't slow down for me. this happens pretty randomly but only when trying to turn from a stop. i can't any longer trust the car as its pretty dangerous especially when trying to merge with fast moving traffic.
2013 nissan altima 2.5s shuts off electrical while driving key dont work (1 out of 2 keys dont work) door handles are broken both driver and passenger a/c compressor doesnt work
The gear shifter is stuck in park. in starting up the car and trying to move the gear shifter out of park, it would not move out of park.
Changing gear is getting lock after putting the gear in park, having trouble changing it to drive.
The nissan altima 2013, driver side door handle breaks, trapping individual in car causing a safety issue in any urgent or emergency situation. car was stationary when complaint happened. frequent occurrence with thousands or models 2011-2015 as indicated by consumer reports. consideration for recall.
Gear shift keep getting stuck when you put in park when trying to put in revearse or drive it won't move it doesn't happen all the time just some times.
While stationary, the car will not shift into park. the shifter gets stuck and will not budge.
The cvt transmission on my 2013 altima went out. i purchased this car brand new and completed required maintenance. the transmission went out after less than 4 years and at 70k miles. it seems that thousands of consumers have had the same issue. the car will shutter, jerk, and shut off when you are stopped/idle. the car also shutters when accelerating and does not have much power. this was an extreme safe hazard when i was driving on the highway. the car is not shifting gears properly/transmission broke. nissan had an issue with the cvt transmission for model years 2006-2010 and offered an extended warranty for those years. nissan should reimburse and/or offer warranty extension for 2011+ models as well.
Vehicle stops without any notification, sometimes stalls before shutting off.
The overhead console just fell while my car was parked. it appears the hinge just broke or melted possibly due to heat. seems poorly constructed.
Driver side door quit working, noticed when i shut the car off ready to get out and not able to... not a happy person ! considering i am still paying on it
Takata recal: i have a 2013 nissian altima and when i push the gas pedal it doesn't accelerate like it supposed to. for an exapmle when i push the gas pedal all the way to the floor it doesn't do anything. this happens about two or three times when i'm driving in a 20minute span. also, when i turn off my car (it has a push start) my break lights are on. when i turn it off i don't have to push the break and push the start button. (the car thinks i'm stepping on the break).
Inside door handles my driver side doors, both front and back, had the handle inside broken. i can no longer open the door from the inside of the car. the car was stationary at the time the door was attempting to be opened. the driver side front broke as i put the car in park, the automatic locks unlocked, and when i used the handle, it broke and will not open. the driver side rear broke as the car was in park for at least 1 minute and the door was attempting to be opened.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while exiting the vehicle, the contact heard a loud pop sound. afterwards, the interior handles on all four doors were unable to open the doors. while attempting to start the vehicle, the contact stated that the vehicle would not start and noticed a lot of corrosion on the battery terminals. the battery had been changed out three times, but the failure was still being experienced. the dealer (town center nissan, 2310 barrett lakes blvd nw, kennesaw, ga 30144) informed the contact that the door handle failure "could be a safety risk". the dealer stated that the reason the vehicle failed to start was due to corrosion of the battery terminals. both repairs would be at the contact's expense. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the vehicle was not repaired and continued to experience both failures. the failure mileage was 120,000.
Cpsc: 2013 nissan altima, i was driving my car on the highway and my car just died. the car starts but i put in drive it shuts off again, this is a very serious safety issue and has happened to lots of other nissan owners but nissan only extended warranty on they transmission on cars from 2008 t0 2010. *bf updated 06/13/2017*js
I close my truck of my car and the window just shattered. i went into the home where i was. we called a neighbor a man to come. he said it would be fine to drive home. it would not fall in he said. we could continue to hear it cracking. it was 74 degrees outside. another person said they have never seen a back window shatter before. since it was dark we could not know if something fell onto it. nothing but dark skies and stars above. someone touch it and it fell in. so i put a sun visor in the back to catch the falling glass. we all was shock. they all thought with the heater coils it would not fall in or with the protective coating like tint would hold it. strange i drove home 20 mph. covered and now i have to wait because it needs to be ordered and i have to pay out of pocket. please help. i was in n.c, 27870 on 514 davie st. about 9:30 pm. on 04-29-17
I purchased my 2013 nissan approximately four months ago as a replacement car for the nissan altima that was totalled in a car accident. living in extremely hot weather (in the 100s), it is imperative that the air conditioning (ac) works and works well. i often travel with my 85 year old mother and to have the ac blow hot air while stuck in traffic for almost two hours was something both unacceptable and embarrassing. this problem began almost immediately after i drove it off the lot from carmax in pleasanton, ca. it blows hot air almost consistently while driving, regardless of speed. while researching, i found that there are thousands of people with the same problem and i am also hearing that, depending on their mood, nissan will cover the exuberant $1500 to replace the compressor...not many have been successful. i took it to my mechanic and per the salesperson at carmax, he recommended that the ac needed to be recharged. they did so, but the problem still persists. i am surprised with the number of complaints that hey have not issued a recall for this. this is a safety hazard, as it is just as bad as leaving a child in a car for hours! we were stuck in traffic for almost two hours and were drenched with sweat once we finally arrived home. had she passed out due to heat exhaustion, i'm not sure what i would have done because we were at a stand-still at one point. it was a horrible experience. i would like for nissan to fix this problem with my car at no cost to me as this is clearly a recall!
Gear shift when in park won't go into gear
