Airbag recall issued. letter advised that vehicle owner should not to contact mazda. mazda would contact vehicle owner once parts were available. work around outlined in the letter stated that no one should be allowed to ride in the front passenger seat. however, the letter explicitly states that death or injury could result for the driver or other vehicle occupants, not just front passenger. so, the workaround provided is unacceptable. the letter is dated two months ago. no additional information has been provided by mazda. repairs must be made immediately.

I received the primary notification of safety recall in july 2016. i have not received any more information since then, the air bag indicator pops in the dashboard often and i cannot take my care to the emission test until the problem is corrected.
Takata recall- i'm in zone b of the recall (was first notified in july 2016). my 2007 car is now in the 10-15 year window where degradation is projected to occur, so i am hesitant to drive it any longer since i frequent transport multiple passengers. how do i know how much longer this will take? i have tried to call mazda's hotline, but the wait time is always 45+ minutes. there have been no updates to the information since the recall on mazda's recall info website.

Takata recall the passenger air bag safety recall for this and other mazda car models has gone on too long. after receiving notification in july of this year, i went online and discovered air bag complaints dating back to 2008!. the fact that mazda ignored these complaints, waiting more than eight years to conduct a massive air bag recall is untenable. the anxiety produced by driving with front-seat passengers is a serious distraction for anyone who owns one of these vehicles; following the manufacturer's advice to disallow front seat passengers has become an inconvenience. for many drivers, loss of the front passenger seat is not an option ; this has gone on for too long without notice of resolution by mazda. i am demanding that mazda begin replacing passenger air bags immediately.

While driving the wheel and steering became impossible to control. the car was only stopped by a wall on the highway. my husband was driving and had a heart attack during this incident with the car. the airbag on the drivers side was deployed.
Takata recall - i've been waiting for more than a year for the dealer to replace the takata airbag but they tell me that the part is not available and i've received many many notifications by regular mail about this. the dealer is flagship mazda in san juan puerto rico. i understand this is an important replacement and that people had died from this issue. it is unacceptable that i've called three times in one year and they keep telling me that the part is not available. the dealer phone number is (787)620-7546, (787)620-6981 flagship mazda in san juan, puerto rico. (i still have no incident at the moment).
In the last 2 months i've had issues with the airbag system light illuminating on the dash and also the passenger occupancy light not illuminating at all. i then have a check engine light on and had it diagnosed and it is the thermostat that is not working properly. the tech at the auto shop said that this is extremely common with mazda cx-7. if that is the case, why has it not been recalled? i have read through hundreds of articles online stating the same issues with the airbag system and the thermostat.
December 2015 i had my car towed to a mazda dealership (aaa service said to do so because of the noise and fear the vvt would break while in motion) to replace the vvt (timing chain) and valve cover gaskets - paying out of pocket. as of today, 2/12/16, the same noise, but louder, still occurs when i start the car and drive. the air bag light is on and was on when i took it in. no mention of was made. also, when i received my receipt, they had the mileage wrong by 20,000 miles (potentially affecting carfax reports) , and indicated on the sheet that other areas such as lights were fine and they were not. they did mention that my turbo may need replacing soon (another consistent complaint). there was a class action suit filed in nj regarding this and it was thrown out. why isn't the government doing something about all of these similar complaints? where do i go since i just don't trust mazda dealerships?

The air bag light came on suddenly. i put of the vehicle on a few times hoping the light will go off, but it never did. for three days now the air bag light of the driver side has remained alight. even when the vehicle is stationary and the engine is turned on, the air bag comes on immediately.
Bought the car at 103500 and noticed shortly after purchase that the airbag light comes on in the instrument panel. after extensive online research and contact with the dealership, i discovered that the airbag light indicates the airbag may not deploy in the event of an accident. since this appears to be a common problem, i would suggest that mazda issue a recall to prevent further injuries, as there have already been a few that i've seen online. it is a severe safety issue. *tr
My airbag randomly comes on without anyone sitting in the seat. i had the car in the shop in june to replace the thermostat , and the part center said the airbag light is on, if you are in a car accident it will not deploy. i personally feel this model on airbags should look into a recall too! *tr
Air bag light staying on in my truck? ac compressor is defective even after i just had the turbo replace in march .needs to be a recall on the passenger seat air bags and ac compressor. *tr
We purchased our vehicle new. the passenger side air bag lights up for no reason. it's intermediate. i have taken it into the dealership and they claim there is a known issue however not a recall therefore mazda will not pay for the expense to repair/fix it. i have asked if the air bag will work if we are in an accident and they cannot say either way. also our engine light is intermediate as well. i've taken it to repair shops who ran a free diagnostic test which states another known issue with mazda with the fuel evaporation line. if mazda is aware of these issues, why don't they repair them at no cost to the owner? does someone have to die first? *tr
Air bag light comes on and off randomly with or without passenger in seat. have had so many issues with this 2007 cx-7 from 2 different complete a/c system rebuilds in first 2 years, belt tensioner pulley, egr valve codes (had to get egr valve cleaned), coolant temp codes (replaced thermostat & temp sensor) and now air bag random light. i am on a mazda forum and honestly there should be more recalls on this vehicle due to the volume of complaints in several categories... mazda responses to just about everything is to replace something for a minimum $500 up to thousands... i am tired of having to deal with mazda and will never buy another... traded in a 2001 chevy tahoe for cx-7 with 250,000 mi and only had normal maintenance. the cx-7 was a bad investment for me... *tr
When our mazda cx-7 2007 reached 45000 miles, the air bag witness light started turning on and off randomly, if i turned off the vehicle and started it again, it sometimes went off. i took it to the dealer, they said they "clean the connections" and it went off for two weeks, now it is back on. at first intermittently and now, always on. i am not sure what will happen in the event of an accident. *js
Was rear-ended at a fast speed by an 18 tractor trailer. no air bags deployed. i was slung with such force again the steering wheel that the back of my seat fell backwards. my sons seatbelt came loose and by the grace of god i had enough strengths to grab him and pull him back to keep from going through the windshield. i have the most damage because i had to get loose from my seat belt. neither airbags deployed which in the kind force we were hit with and on top of that the seat belt coming out. i am still having nightmare were i have slept walked out side and actually started to pick up sticks as if i were pick up my sons body. *tr
Airbag safety sensors failed in my 2007 mazda cx-7. airbag light started coming on about 2 weeks before took vehicle to dealership. called dealership ad was told it could be just baggage on passenger side seat and to come in if persists. it persisted and took vehicle in to be inspected. technicians said sensors underneath front seats failed and needed to be recalibrated. authorized the repair drivers side seat was recalibrated but passenger side could not. airbag safety sensors not covered by extended warranty offered by mazda and mazda will not fix safety issue because vehicle no longer under manufacturers warranty. technicians could not give me a reason why the sensors failed and why mazda does not cover safety items that can save a life.
Since i bought my mazda cx-7 i have seen intermittent passenger air bag on and off. now at 89,000 miles the driver air bag came on two weeks ago and went off but have not seen it come back on since then. *tr
At about 55,000 miles and only 3 years of usage, my vehicle started making a terrible racket and smell. i opened the hood to see it was a the clutch of the air compressor that had locked up and caused big problems with the belt. trying to drive the vehicle to get repaired only made the issue worse. i got a brand new air compressor installed and the noise is now gone and the ac is working fine. (after paying approximately $700) however, the air bag light just started flashing and then staying on and it's only a week since the ac repair. i am worried about the safety of the vehicle and if there is a connection between the two issues. i am reading about all sorts of complaints with both issues and i have read a technical service bulletin about the airbags. a recall needs to be completed very quickly before many owners get seriously injured due to these rampant defects with the vehicle. *tr
Another driver turned in front of me, failing to yield the right-of-way. i was doing the speed limit (45 mph) upon entering the intersection. when my cx-7 made contact with the passenger side of her minivan, none of my airbags ever deployed. my shoulder, neck and hip (i still need surgery on all 3 areas) were injured in this accident. *tr
Passenger airbag light come on as being off when my wife is seated on passenger seat. dealer fixed it 5 times and works better then before, but still occasionally comes on while driving almost randomly on/off. my wife is petite but weights 105lbs or so. the light should not come on as being off for this weight. *tr
First the air con compressor went out,now the air bags lights stays on.the engine light is also on.mazda needs to recall these vehicles.there has been problems with this vehicle from the beginning.
Passenger airbag "off" light on even when passenger on the front seat. this includes passenger of weight >60lbs. light is intermittent as driven, does not show up when at dealer. *tr
