The vehicle's gauges will turn off while driving randomly. the speedometer, odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge will all zero out for unspecified amounts of time. sometimes 10 seconds, other times until the vehicle is started back up. this occurs when the vehicle is in motion. sometimes it causes the car to completely shut off and come back on. while shut off, the car sounds like it is struggling to continue its forward progress. this happens every couple thousand miles (2-3 months apart). once the car corrects itself, the check engine light appears. after starting the car 2-3 times, the misfire corrects itself and the check engine light turns off.
When getting my oil changed the mechanic told me that i had an antifreeze leak. he could smell it and saw fluid around the radiator. also that i may need a new radiator and should have the dealership check it out. i brought my 2 year old 2017 jeep grand cherokee to the dealership and was told i did indeed need a new radiator. the car was bought new by me and has 45000 miles on it. i asked the mechanic if this was common? was there any indication of getting hit by a rock etc? i was told that it was a manufacturers' defect. that the radiator was leaking at the seams and needed to be replaced. i brought it to a second mechanic at a local auto body shop and he confirmed that it was a manufacturer's defect and the radiator needed replacing. i think this is more common than it should be for a new vehicle with low mileage. both mechanics at the dealership and the autobody shop said they had replaced several of these recently. in fact it has been enough of a problem that they are keeping extra radiators in stock. i believe jeep should ...
The start/stop feature on this model jeep grand cherokee malfunctioned at a major intersection. the engine stopped while i was at a red light for a prolonged period of time (the feature working as it should at that moment); when the light turned green, and i released my foot off the break, the engine would not turn back on. the vehicle had to be put in park, turned off and turned back on for the engine to power back up and move.
