The fan for heat and air conditioning suddenly quits working. the fan motor makes a roaring noise. the wipers will only work on high. our jeep only has 60k. we have already had an oil leak and had to replace the water pump. also the check engine light is on code says it's an exhaust leak. we are very disappointed in the over all quality.
Parked the car on a rainy night post a 6 hour drive. 2.5 hours after the car was turned off, the alarm system and other electrical components began to go off intermittently, not in the typical alarm pattern. key fob and lock would not respond. car would not start but some electronic components continued to work, including uconnect. finally stopped after 20 minutes. the car then shut down completely and would not start. called aaa and they sent out the battery truck. aaa battery voltmeter check revealed an initial read of 10.9 volts; then went to 0.9. jump start would not take. car completely dead except for power seats, which continued to work. had to tow vehicle to dealership who ultimately determined that body control module had malfunctioned. similar reports and a recall for this body control module same malfunction due to wiper blades on dry glass in 2011-2014 models.
Arrived home 10:15pm dry roads and weather. backing jeep into driveway and went to full throttle back to hit the garage structure and door. shifted two drive to move out into the driveway and went to full throttle forward, across the street, through the swale into a vacant lot and hit the avista power transformer box knocking its off the base and pulling the 7,000 volt power cables out. jeep then stopped and i backed it back into the driveway and stopped. avista crew arrived and safed the transformer. resulting damage was $3,007 to house and garage door, $16,275 damage to front/back/undercarriage on jeep and about $4,880 to replace the avista transformer. car rental now 60 days at $42.00 per day. estimated total is now $26,682.
While driving donw a main road the gas pedal suddenly stopped working and would not engage. i could not get the car to move forward but it was still running. i pulled the vehicle over to stop and turn the car off. turned the vehicle back on to see if the gas pedal would re-engage, i was able to drive 100ft and it happened again. i then "rolled" into an empty lot on the side of the road where smoke was noticed coming out of the hood. i popped the hood but did not open it and called 911. while on the phone with 911, a loud pop was heard under the hood, sparks were seen and the car caught fire.*dt*jb

I have had continual electrical problems with my jeep grand cherokee 2015. i have replaced both the battery and alternator because of jeep to not starting in the morning. however, approximately 3 months later, i am once again experiencing the same problem. the mechanics cannot resolve the problem. they all say it is probably related to the voltage regulator or computer system.
One day when leaving a barbershop my wife tried to start our jeep and it would not crank. it would turn over, start for a second then turn off. after sitting for a while longer it started up and drove fine. this past sunday we were leaving a gas station to get on the interstate and in the middle of an intersection it shut off. all acceleration stopped and the jeep went into park and left us stuck in the middle of the intersection. once we used the manual park release and got out of the intersection we let it sit for a little bit. my wife got in the driver seat and it started right up. we then drove it to an auto parts store and had the check engine light diagnosed as the neutral safety switch. i spoke with a local dealership and was told that that is 'not a part listed' in their parts catalog. this vehicle shut off and my pregnant wife could have been t-boned in the blink of an eye.
Out of nowhere, my 2015 jeep gc decelerated, all the lights on the dash came on and the following messages popped up: auto park disabled, service electronic throttle control, and ended with service shifter. the truck would not accelerate in the middle of a highway. i took the vehicle to the dealer where they cannot seem to find the problem. the windshield wipers turned themselves on along with the check engine light and the hazards.
Most of the time when starting the vehicle, the uconnect infotainment screen does not boot up or display anything (screen stays black) for up to 5 minutes. this is a safety concern as the backup camera will not display until the the uconnect system has booted up. many other feature are also unavailable, but the backup camera is the major concern. this problem has been ongoing for quite some time now.
The radio conceal will reset after a few short minutes as if the vehicle is being started for the first time. the first time it was noticed was after it was stationary and i returned back to my vehicle.
Factory wiring harness, and any other harness for towing doesn't operate unless dealer programs to computer..the cost is $135???. factory installed trai.er took up harness should already be activated..no other make of vehicle requires this..why jeeps..?? or our dealerships not informing and using it for a way to make more money? please investigate problem..owners need to be informed of this before purchasing vehicles..thank you.
Twice i have been driving and the vechile shuts down on me once in the middle of a busy road and i can't put the car in neutral, i can't put flashers on, nothing will work. it took 2 hours and magically everything came back on with a check engine light. we went to the dealer they had it for a week said the shifter module needed to replaced and the battery , $2000 later we take it home and same thing happens again. now it's a different module that needs to replaced. take it home and it happens a third time. they basically say they don't know and they can't duplicate tbe problem. we take it home and everything works for 3 months until today when the whole problem reports itself while i'm driving. it's been 5 hours and i still can't get the car to even turn a light on. it's completely unsafe the way it just turns off in the middle of driving i am terrified to keep driving it. and i'm tired of paying money for a problem no one can solve. this seems like it happens to others and should be a recall. i can't believe nothing can be fixed. it's completely unsafe and unreliable.
Vehicle drove fine but when turned off, the dash lights stayed illuminated. wouldnt turn off even after a few hours. next morning it wouldnt start and gave a full host of "service system immediately" prompts. sounded like it would begin to turn over, but would shut off immediately. started again after 8 hours but still had check engine light on. code came out to be "lost contact with ecu"
'tamara recall' when the car is on the touch screen do not work. the touch pad won't allow you to change the settings for the air conditioning, the radio , the seats settings are anything. so the only thing it allows you to do is listen to the radio on one channel. i'm paying for siri and the touch pad won't allow me to switch to it either.
The vehicle radio/navigation system blacks out. system blacks on and off and when reset- navi udefined blinks on and off and system states it's in compromised for cyber security. i have taken the vehicle to the dealership 2x and will be dropping the car off tomorrow and leaving until they figure out what is wrong with it. the radio also tries to set itself to various stations. i have uconnect access and i have not paid for the service. i located yelp in the vehicle yesterday- the vehicle will be dropped off and i am demanding a resolution and i do plan on taking further steps with uconnect and jeep/cryhsler. the vehicle was purchased new. it took me a while to determine it was the uconnect as i thought it was my phone. i did not think it was the fact that i connected the uconnect to the phone. i also took my vehicle to 2 jeep dealerships to check on recalls
Msg appearing service shifter, took into shop and stated it could be an electrical wiring but will not know until they break down the shifter. jeep has already had a recall but i've already taken care of that recall on this jeep. reading a lot of people are having the same issue with the service shifter and really should be a recall on this. at this time i have a short to the circuit in the shifter.
The vehicle was being parked and from shifting from drive to reverse the vehicle turned off and would not start again for a few minutes. the vehicle showed the service keyless system and the check engine light then appeared.

My 2015 jeep grand cherokee has an expansion valve leak, which is leaking into the vehicle (since fca decided to install the expansion valve in the car behind the dashboard). the leak is a serious health risk and environmental risk. the system also makes a constant humming noise since its low on freon. i had it fully recharged and in a matter of months all of the freon leaked into my car! this is poisonous gas leaking into peoples vehicles!! i called my local dealership and they quoted me upwards of $1,700 to fix the issue, which based on other online postings by jeep grand cherokee owners seems to be a common issue with the car. i have also recently updated the car's uconnect software to the most recent version released, and now my 911 phone option and navigation system no longer works. my understand is that uconnect software was updated to use 4g technology, but my 2015 jeep grand cherokee has 2015 3g technology. i don't understand why fca would punish their loyal customers by pushing this type of upgrade, in the process completely making their customers navigation systems useless. apparently the parts alone are in the $1,000 + range to replace the entire navigation unit. the 911 phone option should at a minimum be a safety requirement, and fca pushing their software upgrade completely disabled this. i called uconnect but they are of no help. i have been a long time jeep owner, purchasing different models over the year, but i don't think i will be able to buy another jeep if fca can't stand behind their product.
Ive had this car in the shop 4 or 5 times for extreme overheating costed me 4500 so far and never fixed
Service shifter warning
The vehicle would not start. it has a push button ignition switch start. it locked up and it could not be towed because the tow truck driver could not get it in natural to move it. i was stranded for 12 hours with nothing to eat or drink before i got help. all electrical systems shut down and i was alone in a very bad area at the time. unless the vehicle started it would do nothing and could not be towed. jeep needs a recall on this very unsafe system. they should be made put in an override switch or be able to start the vehicle with a key. i am 76 years old and i was going to start on a 500 mile trip that day. very good thing it happen when it did. the vehicle would have been dead along the road with no help. all push button starts need a backup to get out of this safety hazard. i unlocked the door get in and pushed the start button and nothing. all kind of lights lit up on the instrument panel and displayed a lot of things that would not work. the transmission would not go in or out of gear.
After 3.5 years of no problems, our jeep has been back to the dealer service every month since august 2018.currently at service since 1/14/19, 15 business days. in august: pulled into a parking spot and the wipers started, could not turn them off different messages flashed 'no bus', and various other msgs. check engine light was on. took in to dealer the next day. recalls were performed. we felt, our problems had been solved. they were not. september: arrived at my son's school 7:15 a.m. wipers started, chiming started, messages flashed, tire pressure flashed. turned engine off, restarted problem solved. october: on baltimore beltway with my son's carpool in the car, we were in rush hour traffic crawling along... wipers start, chiming, messages flashing 'service electronic throttle control' and others... then car started lurching and lunging somehow got it limping into the dealer... podded it and it threw over 480 codes. in service for 10 days. alternator replaced, did not help. november: arrived home after an 1.5 hour trip, chiming started, messages flashed. but this time as i reversed into driveway, car threw itself into park. december: again driving car pool of young teenagers, exited baltimore beltway, wipers start, chiming, messages, 'service electronic throttle', 'auto park disabled', service shifter, etc. engine revving but we're barely moving. there was nowhere to safely pullover and i have no idea if any of the exterior lights are working. i had to make a lady turn to get out of traffic. we barely made it. this last episode was the last straw. our dealer's service department has been nothing but helpful. they have, with my permission driven the vehicle with diagnostic equipment hooked up, they've put over 600miles on my vehicle, but i don't care because i'd like it fixed. they've tried to replicate for 15+ days w/no success. i do not feel safe in this car.
Drivers gauge screen intermittently flashes 'service transmission' immediately followed by tire pressure alert. this happened several months ago and started up again last week. there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. looks like an electrical glitch. i took my car for servicing this last weekend and they were not able to find any error codes on the diagnostics. i took a video of the malfunction and showed it to the service staff at the dealership. dealership states they would have to install a scanner and test drive it however the glitch isn't reproducible but rather spontaneous and intermittent. vehicle has 1000,000miles on it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that smoke entered the cabin of the vehicle without warning. the contact turned off the vehicle and noticed smoke coming from the hood and headlights. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
Jeep does not start in a.m.
I had the electronic power steering module go out & also had to replace radiator after doing research i have seen 1,000 of other customers complain about the same issues and they not be covered by warranty due to basic warranty expired. if this is a common issue with the 2015 jeep grand cherokee why has this not been reviewed for recall??
While driving at highway speed on a 2-lane road, our jeep grand cherokee ecodiesel began to lose power. the lights on the instrument cluster began going off seemingly randomly, and the vehicle had to be quickly pulled over and put in a safe condition on the side of the road as the engine stalled. the engine would not restart. after 2 months of troubleshooting with chrysler engineering, our shop believes they have found the issue, which is a faulty tone wheel in the drivetrain, at where the engine couples to the transmission. the tone wheel lost about 1/4" of encoded magnetic material, and this made the vehicle inoperable, even while at highway speed. this failure threw no codes to the computer for the technician to interpret, and the only symptom is that the engine would not fire, even though, as a diesel, there is no spark ignition system.
On 10/21/19 my 2015 jeep grand cherokee limited mount functioned. while trying to slowly back up my car in a garage the vehicle seized all dashboard lights went out including back up camera screen. only one light appeared before impact with a pole which was the service transmission light. my foot was off the gas when it jolted backwards into a large pole. this has happened multiple times where the car would seize or accelerate into first gear. it has done this when my foot wasn't on the gas peddle aswell. i contacted safford jeep in springfield va three times about my concern. nothing was corrected now i have been in an accident with very bad vehicle body damage. chrysler has done nothing and will not give me any answers on the satus of their investagation. this has now cost me out of pocket because they want to draw this out as long as possible.
Mysterious engine start. car was parked in the garage for the night. went into the garage at bedtime and found the car running with lights on. could not stop the engine with the stop button with fob in my pocket. opened the garage door to ventilate the exhaust fumes. went to pull a cable off the battery. couldn't find it! turns out it is under the passenger seat. couldn't access it. after multiple tries stopped the engine. obviously a u connect defect. parked it outside to prevent getting gassed. crap technology. ..updated 12/11/17 *bf the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. *js
I was told by the jeep service tech that it is the alternator that has given out and needs to be replaced. it only has 45k miles
The gear shifter is malfunctioning. the lights on it are not lighting up to show what gear i am in and the dash shows "service shifter" sometimes the dash will state n but i will be reversing. i told the dealership about this when i took it in for the current recall on the shifter. this issue is something different. they told me they fixed the problem. the same day it was doing it again.
With little warning, and out of cell reception, jeep suddenly began flashing intermittently on navigation screen warning that car was not charging and another warning about parking brake malfunction as i was driving approximately 55 mph in a mountainous california area.. i drove it 30 miles to try to get within cell phone range before it simply quit. thank goodness i had just renewed my uconnect contract because i still was not within cell phone range when car died. a tow truck was called and car towed to nearest jeep facility that could repair it. result of problem was bad alternator. this is ridiculous on a car that is less than 2.5 years of age and driven less than 3,6000 miles.i had absolutely no warning of problem until i was traveling 150 miles away from home in a mountainous and sparsely traveled road. jeep was under warranty but i am uneasy now about potential other problems occurring.

1- surround sound is auto turn to stay on. when turn off no any effects. 2- some noise come in driver side from dash or engine room. this noise like air sound from air pump every 10 to 25 sec with synchronous small some effect in rpm.

2015 jeep grand cherokee sagety recal # s55/nhtsa 16v-529 transaxle wire harness. i received a safety recall notice with instructions to call my local dealership to arrange service. i called the dealership and was told by the service department that the necessary parts required to do the repair was not made available to any dealership yet. i was told by the service department to wait another month or two for the second recall notice to arrive by mail to call and make the appointment. i asked if, in the meantime, i was to hope and pray that an accident is not caused by this recall item in the interim, and the service department replied , "yes." i then call the fca recall assistance center at fca and was told the same thing. unacceptable practices given the fact that the recall notice clearly states that, " ...the system defaults the transaxle to neutral and the customer experiences a loss of motive power. ....the loss of motive power could cause a crash without warning."

On two occasions while standing in my garage with the jeep parked and not used or running for days, the instrument panel suddenly comes alive inside the vehicle without opening the door, touching the door handle, or having the remote key transponder anywhere near the vehicle (they were both inside the house nowhere near the vehicle at the time and i was many feet away from the vehicle.) i can hear the vehicle electrical system "boot up" and then shut back down. i have on many other occasions heard the electrical system "boot up" and power back down without the dashboard display coming alive. once again, no key fob was near the vehicle nor the door opened or touched when i have been out in my garage to witness this and the vehicle has not been driven for days.
