I took my 2014 jeep grand cherokee into the dealership to have two recalls addressed, both regarding the brakes, i believe. upon working on the vehicle, the master cylinder "fell apart," accordion to the service advisor. the master cylinder is on nationwide backorder, and i will be in a rental until "mid-november 2014." really? this is unacceptable. how does a master cylinder "fall apart"? *tr

I received a notice from chrysler regarding their recall p-16 involving the corrosion of the brake booster housing. in late june i contacted the dealership where i purchased my vehicle and was advised that chrysler was only providing between 1 and 5 repair kits per week and that there were 30 vehicles ahead of mine to be repaired. i contacted the dealer today (sept 3rd) and questioned when i could bring my vehicle in and was told a date could not be given due to a lack of parts from chrysler. i then contacted chrysler and was given the same information, due to the millions of vehicles involved their supplier could only provide a limited number of parts each week to fix this recall. clearly chrysler has issued the recall to use in their defense in future law suits but are dragging their corporate feet delivering the required replacement parts. *tr

At approximately 12:50pm, while driving in sport mode, going up a hill, i was accelerating normally at a reasonable pace after making a right-hand turn. the acceleration pedal around 30 mph disengaged from my foot and floored itself, and continued accelerating. despite pushing on the break pedal repeatedly. i could not initially un-stick the accelerator pedal using my foot. the engine made some noise and a warning with a red light appeared on the instrument panel: "service electronic throttle". because the breaks were not working i engaged the gear shift to turn to the vehicle from s/sport mode back to d/drive mode. i pressed the break pedal again and again, still nothing. the jeep reached above 72-77 mph+ on that street highway. i was well beyond concerned for my own safety but for the safety of the intersection in which i was about to approach. finally, i wedged my shoe in between the floor and the accelerator pedal (which was difficult b/c it would not budge), the pedal finally released, but there was still no immediate reaction from the engine until 1-2 complete seconds later. i could have been seriously injured, seriously hurt others, or died. *tr
In accordance with a safety recall notice i received (p14/nhtsa 14v-154), i contacted my jeep dealer, carl burger dodge chrysler jeep ram world, la mesa, ca, to schedule an appointment to have my brake booster evaluated and replaced. the service department representative confirmed over the phone that my vehicle was affected by the recall and that my vehicle's brake booster would need to be replaced. she told me that my name would be added to a waiting list, and that i would be notified when the dealership had received the replacement part. i asked her to estimate the waiting time period. she informed me (1) that there were more than 260 customers ahead of me on this waiting list, (2) that the dealership had only received 45 parts so far, and (3) that the dealership was receiving new parts at a rate of only five per week. by my rough calculations, this means that i (and other customers) could expect to wait 43+ weeks (viz., nearly one year) before receiving the replacement part. given the grave risks associated with untimely replacement of the brake booster, as expressed in the recall notice, i find this timeframe to be entirely unacceptable and unreasonable. i urge the nhtsa to look into this matter further. thank you for your time and consideration. *tr

I was driving on the highway where i spend most of my time while in my vehicle putting over 30k miles on my car in one year to get back and forth to work and while jumping on a major route 101a in nh where cars drive very fast my engine shuts down and i can not do anything but put on my hazard lights and hope the cars passing at 65mph dont hit me. this happened at least 3 - 5 times afterward and even a couple of times after having the dealer looking into the vehicle and i have been told it was a software update but they are unable to provide me with the details of what the software update is and what it resolves. i have since had the issue and brought it in for service numerous times and i told the same thing over and over and they keep reinstalling my software and tell me that it's all set and i am no longer satisfied nor feel safe in my vehicle that i put a lot of highway miles to get back and forth to work. please help since nobody is able to help me and since i put on so many miles i am unable to be covered by the lemon law within a short period of owning the vehicle and its very frustrating. *tr
I was on the i-94 entrance/exit ramp between fullerton avenue and western avenue. just before western ave: the left lane is intended for vehicles entering i-94 northbound, the right lane is intended for vehicles that are proceeding to western ave. when the even occurred, there was a line of vehicles stopped in the left lane due to traffic congestion on i-94. i was traveling in the right lane and had no cars directly in front of me. as i began to pass the long line of vehicles that were waiting to enter on to i-94 on my left, the automatic braking system began to chime and braking began for no reason. i quickly reached down, disabled the abs function, glanced in my rear-view mirror and saw that i had come dangerously close to being rear-ended by another vehicle. after a few weeks, i re-enabled the feature thinking that the event was a fluke. i re-enabled it, but had a handful of instances where the brakes would be applied in seemingly inappropriate situations - mostly all of them in dense city driving. the vehicle now has 10k miles on it. i have yet to take it in for service on this or the multitude of factory recalls. possibly related, there have been numerous occasions where the parking sensor chimes have gone off while the vehicle was moving -or- in gear, but stopped at a stoplight. i often leave the feature disabled until i get ready to park. *tr

I have been leasing a 2014 jeep grand cherokee for roughly ten months. throughout that time, i have been notified at least three times of active safety recall notices for my vehicle. my vehicle shows computer modules broken which as a result has disabled my air bags. in addition, my vehicle has a safety recall for a brake booster and now an inoperative vanity lamp which may cause a fire. my vehicle is entirely and completely unsafe to drive and chrysler jeep is not taking the appropriate immediate action to rectify this event. i am being forced to drive a vehicle with possibly deteriorated brakes, and disabled air bags. *tr

I have no had an incident yet but none of the dealerships are claiming to have the part available and say it is on back order. this is ridiculous that a safety recall is in effect and they do not make every attempt to remedy the problem for a customer who just spent 50,000.00. *js

1) driving ~ 45 mph. 2) parking/crash detection sensor on the front driver side makes audible noise for 2 seconds, then noise ceases - this parking/crash detection issue was reported to the dealership 3 days prior. 3) all consoles go blank, to include speedometer (which is digital), temperature, navigation, etc. (driver & center consoles) - hands free phone call linked within the vehicle disconnects midway through call at this time as well. 4) engine appears operational, but seems to be in a lower gear and acceleration is problematic, brakes are sluggish. 5) electrical system in the vehicle reboots while driving ~10 seconds later, displaying multiple warning messages (check engine light, low battery voltage, no abs, suspension system, etc.). 6) pulled the car over at the first safe location ~1/4 mile. 7) vehicle would not go into park, applied emergency brake and turned vehicle off. 8) restarted vehicle, check engine and low battery voltage light remains on, but vehicle appears stable enough to drive ~2 miles home. *tr

After purchasing the vehicle i started the first leg of a 2000 mile road trip comprising of highway and winding rural roads. during a winding mountainous section of the journey i started to smell something i thought to be possibly a fbrush fire or something burning in the locale i was driving through. later during another section of stop and go driving i started to smell it again, and noticed some brake fade as well. for the remainder of this leg of the trip i used the paddle shifters to reduce my brake use. upon a fuel stop before ending the day's travel, i noticed a thick layer of grease coating the inside of the front left wheel. i did a internet search to see if this was a known issue to find several other owners have had the same issue. i have scheduled an appointment at a jeep dealer for service. hopefully jeep can remedy this seemingly common problem. *tr
I was driving approx 30mph on a surface street and attempted to brake as a moved into a left turn lane. the brakes did not respond to touch and my foot nearly went to the floor. the jeep decelerated to almost a stop until i briefly reaccelerated to approx 5mph (because i was stunned and thought there was no way that the brakes had failed on a brand new vehicle) and attempted to brake again but my foot nearly went to the floor again without a brake response. the power brakes were definitely not working, and the braking power with my foot nearly to the floor was incredibly unresponsive. i coasted into a parking lot, hit the roadside assistance button in my jeep, and the vehicle was towed to the nearest dealership for repair. even the tow driver noted how unresponsive the brakes were as he loaded the vehicle on the truck. the service advisor at the dealership called a few hours later to tell me that this incident happened because the jeep's "master cylinder failed" and that "the parts are on national backorder" and "the parts are being built." he said my jeep is the first 2014 that this has happened to and advised that i would be in the loaner rental car for a minimum of one week while they await the parts to repair the jeep. *tr
May 30, 2014 i received "important safety recall" p14/nhtsa 14v-154 (brake booster) and immediately called two local dealerships, armory garage (albany ny) and lia motors (colonie ny) whom each placed me on a "waiting" list because neither had the required parts from the manufacturer. i received a follow-up call from "lia" for an apt on june 30 but service hours not conducive for my working schedule....so i phoned "armory" but the service dept states they have not received any parts from the manufacturer yet. how can one local dealership receive parts for a national recall and another doesn't ??? "armory" has better service hours so i don't have to lose work pay. *js
To whom it may concern took my 2014 jeep grand cherokee in for recall work on the cluster panel and brakes. when i got it back the brakes you had to press halfway to the floor to stop the vehicle and also has a small vibration as soon as you step on them. i brought this to the dealerships attention and he said he needed to order a brake booster and it may take awhile. he said he has a backlog of orders that are over a month and a half old. i'm concerned about driving this vehicle as it is today because of the brake issue. that's why i'm writing you today to see if you can give me any assistance in getting this matter resolved. thank you, *tr

Driver's side front outer cv joint boot slipped due to an improperly-installed boot clamp and the grease from the joint migrated to the brake splash guard, suspension components, and inside of the wheel on that side. no grease apparent on the brake rotor at this time, however the dealer, grapevine dodge chrysler jeep, in grapevine, tx, has instructed me to drive the vehicle to them for service in a few days. any grease on the brake rotor could cause a brake failure on that side (leading to loss of control) and would require some parts to be replaced. i understand that this is a common problem with jeep grand cherokees manufactured in march and april of 2014, however the dealer's service advisor whom i spoke with appears to be unaware of the trend and largely ignorant of the danger that it presents. *tr
I received a safety recall notice for a brake defect on my 2014 jeep grand cherokee. notice informed me to make an appointment for repair with my dealer. i made the appointment assuming it was for repair as the notice stated. when i took my jeep in i was informed the appointment was for inspection only that the part was not available for repair and did not have an estimate on when the part would be available. a safety recall means there is a defective part on the vehicle that if not repaired could case an accident and possible death. so everyone who drives a vehicle covered by the recall puts their life in danger everytime they get behind the wheel. the only purpose this recall has served is to warn people that they are operating a vehicle that they may lose their life in. good job chrysler !!! *tr
This is a compliant about the untimely ability for repair to be completed for safety recall p14/nhsta 14v-154. i received my first recall the beginning of june 2014. my vehicle was brought to the dealer on june 17, 2014 for this recall. however, they said they had to order the parts and had no idea when parts would arrive. they said it may be a long time. the end of september 2014 i now have a received a second notice from chrysler for this recall. i believe that this is now an unreasonable amount of time and delay for repair of the brakes as related to this safety recall. i also have a recall for sun visor lamp wiring and per my dealer it appears that there is a similar situation which slow receipt of parts for this also. my vehicle has not been repaired for this recall. i live in an area where the temperatures get below freezing for extended periods of time. i am concerned for my safety. *tr
There was not an accident (the form above made me fill in a date) i received a recall notice for my jeep, i called my local dodge/jeep dealer and told them there was a recall and asked if i could bring it in. i was told there was a 26 week, not 26 days, but a 26 week wait for repair due to this particular recall (notification code: p14). i read in the recall notice that my brakes could be compromised and may cause a crash. so i have to wait 26 weeks before this can be fixed? i was told by my local dealer, i would be put on a waiting list. why? *tr
