The jeep randomly won't start and brake pedal is firm this stranded me 6 times and dealer can't figure out because nothing displays and then it works i have heard sensors and brake boosters but neither are on recalls

I have a acc / fcw unavailable message that deactivates my auto breaking system to prevent a collision. this error message may relate to the orc module that may control other safety devices in the vehicle such as the air bags. this deactivation occurs while the vehicle is in motion city street and on the highway.
My 2014 jeep grand cherokee overland is slamming on breaks and blinks a red light saying brake with nothing on the road! this is the second camera/ collision detection system it has occurred on, dealership can't find anything wrong please help before this kills my family! i found that there was already a big investigation on this in 2016 but didn't involve a recall, i am worried for my safety. jeep wants me to drive the car and track it with a device that records my driving patterns. i don't see how this is going to help them identify the issues with their fcw ( forward collision warning system) https://apnews.com/d60d7185ec0e4b53a666e32b77b8039a this article above describes exactly what i am having occur. *tr
Vehicle experiences random illumination of multiple instrument cluster warning lights, loss of cluster illumination, loss of speed display, and loss of abs and esc system functions. sometimes vehicle shifts into 3rd gear, and does not respond to shift commands. this occurs randomly, sometimes right after start-up, sometimes after a few minutes of driving.

N58 my jeep did something weird on 4/21/2019 dash lights came on like abs and traction control light was on in the dash but the push button light down below the heat buttons was also on. also service 4 wheel drive was flashing on the dash along with the selector wheel on the left of the dash screen went to terrain mode all by it self.also on the screen it chimed 4 wheel drive unavailable. i was in drive and driving straight.
The car was rolled away from the drive way when park at night few times already .
Abs and stability light came on while driving 45 mph also the dash says service four wheel drive it all happened at the same time i think it might be part of the abs recall

The brakes on our grand cherokee stopped working while in a parking garage. after getting the car towed back home the dealership said it was a failed brake booster. the issue i have with that is i had taken it in for the recall earlier in the year and it was supposedly taken care of. either their interim fix did not work or they did not do anything when i took it in the first time. we were fortunate no one was hurt.

My 2014 jeep grand cherokee ,shut down while i was driving in the issaquah fall city road . steering wheels locked and brakes failed and everything shut down. i barely made it to the walgreens parking lot where the vehicle completely died to the point where even the keys wouldn't work . i barely made it alive . i am glad i didn't crash into anyone . i had to tow the vehicle later in the day to the dealership . they asked me to drop it off at their garage . today they got back to me saying , there was an open recall on the vehicle and that caused the alternator to fail and shut down everything . they said because it's an open recall they would fix it themselves as it's covered under some warranty . but they also told me that there is an issue with some oil pressure sensor and the awd system is stuck in awd and they will have to fix it and have me a parts and labor charge of 2000 usd which i have to bear . is this normal practice . i don't know how the awd system suddenly got into this state . if it's a result of the alternator issue caused by the open recall , wouldn't they manufacturer/dealer have to bear it . . thanks !!
1 week after the dealership added the water shield to the brakes as required by the recall the brakes stopped working the first time you used them after starting the vehicle. we took it back and we're told it had nothing to do with the recall and the ebt pump needed replacing for $750. we took it to a different mechanic and found that the brake boosters were corroded and the ebt pump was fine. corroded brake boosters is exactly what the recall was intended to prevent and we should not have had to pay for the work. *tt *tr
Had the brake booster recall replaced less than week ago now traction stability warning light along with brake light coming on and staying on when turning curve downhill. on highway speed down steep incline engaging brakes front brakes vibrate yet dealer said breaks ok.
Driving on bridge, preparing to turn right on the i 15 highway in barstow all lights flashing on info panel . jeep began to power surge up and down windshield wiper came on radio went off, power steering became hard to control no brakes, came to rolling stop at chevron gas lot lenwood road . jeep did not restart . dead ! very scary and dangerous situation. could have had a serious accident with a commercial truck. truck honked at me because i cut him off trying to get to a safe stoping location. my wife was with me and she believed we were going to die she said. i'm go inn to get rid of this jeep. i no longer feel safe driving this vehicle.. my wife just read on the internet there are 12 recalls on the 2014 jeep grand cherokee.

In the process of parking at my sister's home, i took my foot off the accelerator and started to brake. the car did not slow down. i continued to brake, but the car kept going forward with increasing speed. i was able to steer and not hit parked cars, but went into the lawn hitting a set of contractor's scaffolding sending them flying into their house and patio. the car finally stopped on top of their well head, destroying the well cover as well as the protective pipe for the well head. further internal damage was done to their well, as there was no running water in the house. a tow truck had to come to lift the car off the well head to avoid any further damage. i had been using the cruise control earlier in our trip, but it was not active at the time.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle made a squealing and whining noise and there was a burning odor underneath the hood. while driving approximately 35 mph, the abs, power steering, and brake warning indicators illuminated. also, the windshield wipers and other components began to malfunction. the contact parked and turned off the vehicle, but it failed to restart. the contact replaced the battery, which caused the vehicle to operate appropriately for a short period of time before the warning indicators illuminated again. the contact checked under the hood and noticed smoke coming from the alternator. the contact stated the alternator and battery failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact called cary autopark chrysler jeep (400 auto park blvd, cary, north carolina 27511, 888-923-9538) and was informed that the alternator and brakes failed. the dealer would not assist because the vin was not included in a recall. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 47,800.

Brake booster in vehicle is prone to fail. failure of brake booster component leads to total failure of the whole braking system. this can lead to unexpected accidents. my vehicle has been experiencing a squeak coming from the brake pedal when pressure is applied to the brakes. brought it in to the dealership and they told me that the brake booster needs replacing. they told me that failure to replace part can lead to major safety issues.
Recall on jeep alternator and brake booster water shield. my complaint is the length of time in getting the parts. the alternator went out and it has been sitting at the dealership for 11 days now and parts are still not released from chrysler. they will not give me a rental. what is a person to do? except pay 800$ and then fight chrysler to get my money back.

I was involved in a serious accident on 9/20/2017 while driving my 2014 jeep grand cherokee. i was driving slowly out of a fast food parking lot and approached the exit intending to turn right onto the road. i saw there was oncoming traffic, and applied my brakes to stop and wait for the traffic to pass. i'm positive that i had my foot on the brake, but instead of stopping, my car surged forward into the road and into the path of a semi truck. the brakes weren't working. i started to reach for the emergency brake, but i had already hit the semi- truck by then. the first impact happened on the front driver's side of my car, then the car spun around and the second impact hit the rear driver's side of my car, the car continued to spin around and stopped when it hit a utility pole next to the entrance/exit of the fast food restaurant. fortunately no one was injured or killed. i am 100% certain that some kind of malfunction happened with my car. i know i had my foot on the brake. i've had several recalls on this jeep for repairs and software updates, and i believe at least a couple of them were related to the transmission. after the accident, i searched the nhtsa website, and i found several other reports of the 2014 jeep grand cherokee surging forward when the brakes are applied. there are also many other complaints of this model grand cherokee having many problems with the transmission, power train, and brake systems. i have already submitted a complaint to jeep about the accident.

On august 4, 2017 after starting my jeep and driving away from parking space i had no brakes at all when trying to stop - fortunately i wasn't going more than 25 mph when i noticed the problem - i was able to coast into a curb and stop. there was no prior warning and no warning lights and the brakes seemed ok the night before when i parked the car. i had to have the car towed to a dealer where they charged me $718.54 to install a new power brake booster which they said was no longer under warranty. the jeep had 42834 miles at the time. if this had happened on i-25 which is where i was heading i would not have been able to stop at all.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000(electrical system) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair for months. the dealer (rockettown chrysler dodge jeep ram, 1221 n h st, lompoc, ca 93436, (805) 617-3000) was unable to verify when the remedy and parts would be supplied from the manufacturer. the manufacturer was contacted to determine when the remedy and part would be supplied to the dealer. the contact was not experiencing a failure. parts distribution disconnect.

I currently own a 2014 jeep grand cherokee and have had a significant number of issues with the vehicle with zero help from the manufacturer that include items regarding my lights shutting of during night driving, my engine shutting down 3 times while pulling onto a major highway as well as my brakes malfunctioning while driving on a major interstate. i had had other issues but as the manufacturer has been uncooperative and i am stuck with an unsafe vehicle with a child on the way i would like to make sure i file a complaint in as many places as i can before i simply look to get rid of this vehicle. all issues occured while the vehicle was in motion and all have occurred while on the highway during the first year of ownership but as the service center never documented my items properly i was stuck with a lemon as i put 50k miles on in the first year due to my commute to my employer from milford, nh to burlington, ma before moving back to ma where i purchased the vehicle. the most recent issue was my brake booster which leaks water into it and freezes during cold weather and my vehicle has been sitting around since feb as the dealership will not cover it as they claim to have already replaced the recalled item so i am in the middle of a dispute over that now as well. any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
I filed case # 10854550 on 4/9/16 following an active braking system malfunction where my vehicle braked on its own with no vehicles or other obstacles in my path on 3/31/16. i filed case #10948159 following an incident on 1/9/17 where the collision warning system went off and the active breaking feature engaged, despite no risk of collision. further, the active breaking feature was turned off in my vehicle settings. the dealership service department has reported to me that nothing is wrong with my vehicle, following an inspection. but yet again, on january 31, 2017, my collision warning system went off and the active breaking feature engaged, despite no risk of collision. the feature has remained disabled per my vehicle settings. in this instance i was driving in stop and go traffic with my cousin and my almost 19 month old son in the car. out of nowhere, the systems listed above engaged. i really do not know what to do. i feel at risk, and worse, i feel i am endangering my child by driving in my car. short of selling it and passing this risk on to someone else, i am at a loss in terms of what can be done.
The vehicle rolled down the driveway when it was in park and the ignition was off. it did not slide, it rolled. i immediately drove it back up the driveway, put it in park, set the parking brake, and turned off the ignition. i excited the vehicle, and about 2 minutes later it did the same thing. please note: the jeep had already received the software update for the april 2016 recall involving the gear shifter/rollaways (see ea1600). i believe this is a different issue because the ignition was off when the rollaways occurred.
I filed case # 10854550 on 4/9/16 following an active braking system malfunction where my vehicle braked on its own with no vehicles or other obstacles in my path on 3/31/16. following this incident, i went to the jeep dealership and spoke with a service advisor who checked for error codes (there were none) and explained that this model and year of jeep had an issue with the active braking feature, stating that keeping the camera clean can help, and he proceeded to clean my camera. but because this was a known issue, i did not leave my vehicle for further inspection. at the time of this incident, my not yet nine month old son was in the car with me, so to avoid any safety concerns surrounding this braking feature, i turned the active braking setting off in my car to disable the feature. the feature has remained off since that time. however on 1/9/17 i was stopped in traffic at a red signal. the light changed to green so i proceeded to move forward. the vehicle in front of me hesitated in moving forward, so i took my foot off the gas. before i had the chance to use the brake, the collision warning system went off and the active breaking feature engaged. i was shocked, to say the least. i immediately pulled over and checked my vehicle settings. the feature was supposedly still turned off. at this point i was extremely worried for the safety of my now 1.5 year old son who was once again with me, so i took my vehicle to the jeep dealership for inspection. the dealership was unable to recreate the issue, and therefore nothing could be done to address it. i had previously come to terms with the fact that i would not be able to use one of the very useful safety features of my vehicle due to its known malfunction, however now i am at a loss as i am clearly unable to disable the feature and have any confidence in knowing that it will not engage anyway.
Fca refuses to do open recalls they claim vehicle was in missouri with 69k miles on it. vehicle is a 1 owner chrysler capital lease return with 29k miles used and seviced in california only. 5 open recalls
Multiple problems with the forward collision warning (fcw) and adaptive cruise control (acc) systems 1) system will issue false brake warnings (and apply brakes if enabled) on clear straight roads with no other cars or obstructions. 2) system will disable itself at random intervals disable itself for a period of time (10-20 minutes). only notification is brief "fcw/acc system disabled" notification in gauge cluster - no audio warning that important safety system disabled itself. 3) when using acc, when vehicle resumes set speed after autonomous braking, vehicle will accelerate into back of next vehicle ahead - have to manually intervene and apply brakes to prevent collision. note that this vehicle uses a bosch lrr3 radar sensor system for the fcw and acc features. vehicle has been into jeep dealers for service for this issue five times, and even after opening star case with jeep/chrysler fca, still no fix for this serious safety issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle accelerated while the brake pedal was depressed. as a result, the contact rear ended another vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. there were no injuries and a police report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 32,000. updated 04/05/17*lj *cn
I was traveling 35mph on the on ramp to a major highway when the automatic braking system turned itself on. there was no obstruction in front of me and the system was turned off. the car started beeping and the car skidded to a complete stop in the middle of the on ramp on it's own, there was no way i could control the vehicle. the incident almost resulted in a collision. this is the second time this has happened.
Adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance did not work properly, and resulted in a collision. i was driving on a highway, relying on the adaptive cruise control and the automatic braking, a feature of collision avoidance. there was a slow down in traffic, and although the system slowed down and applied brake, it did so too late to stop car. as i got too close, i applied steady pressure on the brake, but i still hit the car in front of me, who then hit the car in front of them. no significant damage to either of the other cars, and mine has minor cosmetic damage, and the adaptive cruise control is now not working properly. could have been significantly worse. makes me really question the potential for self-driving cars. *tr
Twice now since i purchased this vehicle (in april of this year) i have experienced incidents of what appear to be random proximity collision alerts (indicated by brake!! on the console) followed by a sudden automatic braking, for which i discerned no pending threats in the line of travel. this action resulted in an unexpected and very unnerving sudden drop in vehicle speed in traffic; in the latter case i was almost rear-ended as a result of the extremely harsh braking action
2014 jeep grand cherokee auto brakes for no reason, it sensed a stopped vehicle in the left turning lane and slammed on the brakes twice, i was in the left lane going 35 miles per hour; this has happened in the past also. i did report this to the manufacturer about six months ago via email, i saved the emails and their response. i could have been rear ended by a vehicle behind me because of this problem, literally once it starts i have no control over what the vehicle does, there is no way to stop the jeep from braking. i shudder to think if it happened on a freeway. i was traveling on a straight road going 35 miles per hour in the left lane. on the evening of 8/22/2016 i was driving in the dark and my automatic high beams malfunctioned several times. they used to work perfectly now they stay on and blind oncoming drivers and the drivers ahead of me, they also fail to come one when i am in the dark and there are no other cars; both incidents of high beam malfunction happened on a country road and on the freeway last night. this problem started immediately after i had the electronic shifter updated at the dealer and some other software updates that were due but i don't know what they did, i just know they were software related and part of a recall. said vehicle is going back to the dealer for several hours of work on the software for both the high beams an the braking system on thursday, august 25, 2016.
I have a 2014 overland jeep. it has 15000 miles on it. it's 2 yrs old. i paid $50,000 for it. i purchased the high end life time warranty. the rear brakes are totally not working and the front are very soft. i have taken it to a dealer and he checked the unit out at first he said the power booster was bad then after talking to jeep they changed their story. he claims the rotors and pads are shot! i am pretty good at working on cars and trucks. i know for a fact the rotors and pads are not gone! i have had a few garages look at it and they said the same. something is stopping the brake pressure on the rear brakes and only working partially on the front. i ask about recall p14 and n58. they said nothing! that is the loss of pressure from master cylinder from moisture. at present time i am afraid to drive the unit because i have already missed 2 stop lights because of poor braking ability i was only doing 50 on a 4 lane divided highway and could not bring it to a full stop before the light. this needs to be checked out
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle independently came to an abrupt stop. the forward collision avoidance system was turned off at the time. the failure recurred three times. on several occasions, the headlights, tail lights, and hazard lights failed to operate. the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 600.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 55 mph and attempting to engage the brakes, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was previously repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 14v154000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake booster failed and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 42,000.
On two occasions, two weeks apart, the active braking feature functioned without obvious external cause. in both cases, the active braking system caused the antilock braking system (abs) to activate, causing the vehicle to stop abruptly. the following information applies to both instances: 1. forward collision warning system (fcw) is on. 2.fcw is set to near 3.active braking feature set to on. 4.vehicle speed approximately 30 mph 5.asphalt four lane road without divider 6.daylight, sunny, temperature about 80 degrees f 7.no vehicles in front or on either side. 8.no vehicles approaching. 9.no obstacles or perturbations on road surface. second occasion occurred after dealer had installed latest software updates for all components. dealer has inspected and driven the vehicle. no defect codes were found. dealer could not duplicate event.

My emergency brake light is flashing on my dash board, and it is making a chiming noise when flashing as i drive my jeep. the main issue other than having it going on and off some time a few time a day sometimes not for a week than a few days in a row is that when i am on an open highway with cruise control on doing 70 mph the cruise control will shut off every time it flashes. i fell the this is a safety issue when your cruise controls shuts down without any warning. the dealer has not corrected this issue. i just got a recall notice to day s27/nhtsa 16v-240 to make sure my vehicle is in park and foot brake on. my foot brakes says it is on at 70 mph when it is not on. this happened a lot today on my trip, but has been going on for over a year
Forward collision warning and mitigation - engaged on a clear day, at freeway speed (55 mph), with no vehicles in front of me or beside me. my car braked hard and the 'brake!' flashed on the dashboard screen. if there had been a car behind me, i would've been rear ended.
Driving approx. 20 mph in city traffic, car in front stopped suddenly. i tried to apply brakes and the auto-braking system also flashed on dashboard to "brake!" but when i tried to, the brakes were not as responsive as usual. i applied tremendous pressure on the brake pedal (so much so that my foot still hurts over a week later) and the brakes did not react as they typically do, so i hit the car in front of me.
While pulling out onto a busy thoroughfare (cesar chavez st. in san francisco, ca) in my 2014 jeep grand cherokee overland on 3/31/16, my collision warning system went off, then the vehicle braked hard on its own via the brake assist system, engaging the anti-lock brake system, and bringing me to a stop in the middle of this busy road. however there was nothing/no one in front of me. this could very well have caused me to be t-boned or rear-ended with my 8 month old baby in the car. this was extremely scary and unexceptable! after describing the issue to my mother, she sent me an article from the wall street journal regarding this issue on 2014 jeep grand cherokees. clearly this is a more widespread issue than just a fluke affecting my vehicle.
