January 13, 2013 chrysler group llc. customer center p.o. box 21-8004 auburn hills, mi 48321 re: case# [xxx] to whom it may concern; below, you will find a brief synopsis of my previous and current issues with my new 2014 grand jeep cherokee; upon immediately receiving my 2014 jeep cherokee, i noticed that my vehicle did not drive smoothly and i had to push hard on the accelerator pedal because my rpms and mph dropped very fast and i was in traffic. after my cherokee loss power and i began to drift, and after coming to a complete stop, i started my suv up again and i had no instrument panel. everything was black. the performance of the vehicle deteriorated to a point where a problem was evident. frequently, not all the time, the vehicle was very sluggish to accelerate and occasionally not responding to the gas pedal, for approximately five-ten seconds as the rpm's went down. it felt as the though, i was forcing the gas by pressing on the accelerator pedal hard. it appear that the gas was blocked from flowing because i had to press very hard to get some gas to my suv or the vehicle was stuck in a low gear and not up-shifting. my suv only have 893 miles on it. i called the dealer sport durst and they informed me to call chrysler to report the issue. they were very rude especially [xxx] the general manager. under the north carolina law, i am requesting a knew 2014 jeep cherokee with the same options and or refund of my downpayment. i just would like to add that the dealership that i purchased my vehicle from are very rude and unprofessional towards their black customers and i will never purchase another vehicle nor will i ever have my vehicle serviced by that dealership. i look forward to working with you to resolve this issue asap! cc: nc attorney general consumer affairs office information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Check engine light came on. after shutting vehicle down for a couple hrs check engine light was off but horn would randomly go off every 15mins. i had to pull the fuse to stop it. i then noticed the dash was staying on and flickering when the vehicle was shut off. 2days later battery was dead. so far chrysler has authorized a flash on the instrument cluster board which did not work. the part needed is on back order and wont be available for a month. they refuse to give out an acceptable loaner and told me i can take my chances and drive my vehicle. *tr
my current lease, a 2014 jeep grand cherokee laredo, has been plagued with defects. there have been 9 recalls, 16 service bulletins, and 5 investigations'.in addition there are 587 driver/owner complaints. my problems: instability of the transmission. after parking next to a storage bin, transmission slipped out of park and the jeep moved forward crushing my leg in the door and denting/scratching the exterior of vehicle. there has been no indication that fca (jeep) has resolved this issue. another problem i'm having, which has been plaguing many other jeep owners, is where the engine warning light illuminates with no indication of specific information with regard to what the malfunction might be. after 5 service visits over the past 2 years , jeep has proven they unable to remedy this. i continue driving with uncertainty and stress with my passengers and i fearing ourlives may be endangered. the engine light is currently illuminated. i am not getting the level of vehicle safety and dependability i am paying for. i have filed a complaint on the website of jeep and have offered fca(jeep) a settlement whereby i would be refunded the leasing charges i paid and the company would consent to an early termination of the lease with no penalties or charges. fca(jeep) has failed to remedy my problem. (please see attached details) fca us llc is required to execute certain performance obligations , pursuant to the july 24, 2015 consent order, amended december 8, 2015, the objectives of which are to mitigate the risks of harm and promote safety for we, the consumers. fca, however, persists in violating and disregarding me in a blatant act of non-compliance with the order. i seek assistance in expediting remedial action in this matter as a victim, and the protection of my rights as a consumer, and as an american citizen. My heater/air conditioner doesn't adhere to the set temp. it will fluctuate 10-15 degrees all by itself. the radio / computer screen will constantly jam up. there are over one thousand of people with the same issues. (http://www.jeepgarage.org/f107/problem-with-2014-grand-cherokee-heater-68973.html) i have had my car in 3x, they still have no fix. the dealer says they re-flash the main computer. the problem is there when i drive off. *js
?approximately twenty nine (29) days after purchasing the vehicle i began to have trouble with the 911 button on the rearview mirror flashing red which would lead to a message on the navigation screen which read ?vehicle phone requires service contact dealer?. ?the vehicle has been returned to the dealer for service on 12/21/13, 5/17/14, 7/21/14 and 7/29/14 for this 911 button issue on 5/17/14 said vehicle was returned to the crowley service dept. for the same problem of the 911 button flashing and the message on the navigation screen reading ?vehicle phone requires service contact dealer.? on 7/21/14 said vehicle was again brought to the crowley service dept. for a multitude of issues: ?again the 911 light on the rearview mirror was flashing and the navigation screen read ?vehicle phone requires service contact dealer?. ?the airbag light on the dashboard was illuminated: ?the seatbelt indicators for both driver and passenger were lit up and would not stop ?dinging? regardless of proper use or there not being a passenger in the seat ?the rpms would suddenly skyrocket and the vehicle would make a ?vroom? noise while the digital screen read ?service shifter?: ?the air conditioning system was blowing warm air. on 7/29/14 said vehicle was returned to the crowley service dept. for a completely non-functional a/c system. on 7/31/14, after having the vehicle back from the crowley service dept for less than 24 hours, i attempted to answer a phone call using the bluetooth software in said jeep. the in dash phone displayed on the navigation screen no longer rings to notify the driver of an incoming call. attempts to select the green button to answer the calls lead to a transfer of audio from bluetooth to the handheld device, (illegal to use while driving in ct), and the call is terminated. *tr

I was driving on the highway about 65 mph. the wipers came on and the radio stopped. this happened on three other occasions. upon exiting the freeway and utilizing the brakes, the entire vehicle electronics flashed then the vehicle lost all power and stalled into blackness. i was able to safely stop the vehicle and restart. *tr

Evts inoperative, no blue light. took to dealership and found wire to evts emergency button severed, possibly shorted. repaired wires, did not correct condition. replaced with new evts, condition repaired successfully. at same time also had recall n58 performed, reprogram instrument cluster abs / al. then at 4040 miles oil change due light came on and had the first oil change done. the check engine light came on a very short time after that and back to the dealership at 4654 miles. said it was a defective oil pressure sensor, sensor was replaced, cleared codes and found no additional problems. now at about 12000 miles the oil change due light never came on, but took the car in for an oil change anyway. now the check engine light along with a low oil pressure light came on, car did not want to shift or speed up, got off the road and had car towed to dealership waiting to be repaired again. *tr
Transmission was replaced at approx. 16k miles. other jeep owners are experiencing issues with the transmission. was taken in for service at 10k, 11,658k and now 16k for repair with ultimately replacing transmission; key fob does not work daily - will not lock vehicle nor will vehicle start for a period of approx ten to 15 minutes after being able to get into vehicle - dealership/service continues to indicate they can't duplicate despite my having this issue every day. *js
Purchased a 2014 jeep grand cherokee on oct 27, 2013 and discovered the forward collision system (fcw) is not working, the dealer attempted to fix but failed. they gave me another 2014 jeep grand cherokee on nov 2, 2013, i realized it has the same exact defect, and again, the dealer tried to fix but failed to do so. two brand new vehicles have the same exact problem, the vehicle vin numbers: 1c4rjxxxxxx and 1c4rjfcxxxxx i spoke with manufacturer and they tried to convince me that "system available" means "system is on" which directly contradicts the manual provided by them. that in addition to the system not working at all. spoke with other jeep owners that have that function, they also indicated that they having trouble getting that to work and they having trouble getting support from jeep. updated 11/19/13*lj *tr
Every indicator on my dash was on and my speedometer didn't work. brought it into [xxx] where the problem was not fixed. it was in the shop again 2 weeks later for the same issue and also to service the abs system. today my check engine light is on and the car is shifting hard and hesitating, clunking as it switches gears. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Shortly after starting vehicle and driving at approx 10 mph, check engine light came on. 30 seconds later check engine light started flashing and misfire was felt, car began to shudder. i pulled over, turned off and restarted, again flashing check engine light and shuddering. vehicle was towed to dealer, who also felt misfire on cold start next am and codes confirmed misfires in multiple cylinders. dealer inspected engine but found no issues. next day, car operated normally. approximately 1-2 weeks later, on starting vehicle entire instrument cluster lit up, with check air bag warning and lights indicated abs failure and ecs off. car drove, but i subsequently realized speedometer did not work, it was very frightening to drive on highway without knowing my speed. after restarting check engine light remained on, but vehicle functioned normally. was going to bring back to dealer, but check engine light went off after about 6 drives. these issues are very worrisome and i feel uncomfortable every time i start the ignition. *tr

The driver pulled the automobile into a driveway on a downhill slope. the driver shut the vehicle off using the push button start/stop. the driver returned to the vehicle 10 minutes later, with a passenger in the front seat. the driver started the vehicle (foot on brake as required) using push button start/stop. the driver engaged the transmission into reverse using the shifting lever (with foot still on brake as is required by the brake transmission shift interlock (btsi) system). when engaged in reverse, the engine revved to a high level, and the car traveled in reverse up the hill (driveway), through the street, and into a ditch. side and front airbags deployed. driver believes they never took foot off the brake, and the braking was not sufficient to overcome torque of the engine/transmission. vehicle damage includes air bag deployment, cabin roof liner detachment, three bent wheels, minor damage to muffler, minor body damage. dealer checked electronics/instrument recordings and noted nothing unusual appearing, and had no knowledge of similar problems. *tr
Vehicles "cluster" memory failed causing wipers to malfunction and radio to lose memory. vehicle occasionally does not recognize keyfob and will set off panic alarm and/or will not detect keyfob, displaying warning which states keyfob has left the vehicle. dealership has tried "flashing" the memory but problem persists and going back in for service 1-3-14. upon reading other forums i have found this is a common issue with other grand cherokees. *tr
Started 2014 jeep gc and centre evic screen failed to turn on. contacted chrysler 1-800 number and they had no record of known issues. searched internet and apparently there are known issues. went to jeep dealer and they 'had no idea' ... have only had vehicle 2 weeks ! have booked in vehicle with dealership. so much depends in having that radio/control unit functioning. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee overland. the contact stated that the navigational system and satellite radio system failed intermittently. also, the contact stated that the system was releasing radiation and interfering with the instrument panel commanding system and causing it to darken. the dealer updated the software several times however, the failure was not corrected. the manufacturer inspected the vehicle and concluded that the electronic system was operating normally. the failure mileage was 6,000 and the current mileage was 10,000.
Main lcd screen that shows the speed of the vehicle goes black at random when i am driving and the only way to get it to come back on is to stop and turn off the vehicle and turn it back on. i was stopped by a police officer for speeding because i could not tell how fast i was going. i told him about the display and he was going to tow the vehicle because i did not have an operational speedometer. i have told chrysler about this and apparently it is a known issue and they are working on it!! these vehicles' should all be taken to the dealers and parked and not driven until the defect has been corrected and customers should be given rental cars. *tr
I just purchased a brand new vehicle on 9/27/13. on 9/28/13 my vehicle caught fire. i first noticed it when i arrived home, smoke was coming from the front of the truck. i opened the hood and noticed fire coming from the side of the engine. *tr
I have had this suv for almost one year. on multiply instances i have thought to have put this truck in park, but it has either gone into neutral or reverse. it comes with an electronic shifter. because it is electronic it has the same position in any and all of the four desired gears. further complicating the process of making sure the truck is in the desired gear is that the only way to tell what gear you are in is by an illuminated shifter with letters p r n d/s ... when it very sunny or you have the sunroof shade open it is even more difficult. having the sunroof open on a sunny day(different than just the shade open) it is almost impossible!! i believe something tragic will occur eventually if this not corrected. it wont with me because i am very aware of the situation. but someone somewhere will not be as aware of it as i am! i have the same truck in 2009 and it does not operate in that method. i do not know how many other vehicles operate manner but i will not be buying another one and thought others deserved this information. *tr
My 2014 jeep grand cherokee has been a complete nightmare to lease. i am a returning jeep customer and this is my 5th chrysler leased product. this all started only one week (september 2013) after leasing the 2014 grand cherokee with the entire dashboard going black. because of this i was not able to drive it for over three weeks and at that point there still was not a fix. the dealer and service dept (dick scott dodge) were not helpful at all regarding this matter. finally i switched to golling and the service manager quickly researched the issue and ordered a new part. thank goodness for golling!! chrysler's case manager was useless and never resolved the issue! the recall was not issued until december. since this time i have experienced a complete transmission replacement as well as 5 recalls all in the first year of leasing. to say i am disappointed is an understatement. i do not trust this jeep at all and will not be leasing another one. i am just so glad that i only have a little over a year left on my lease. this product has been a huge problem. i am always questioning the safety of this jeep when i put my two young children in it. i have never had 5 recalls on a leased car and i have been leasing for over 17 years.
Tl-the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph. the touch screen climate control thermostat became inoperable. the vehicle engine light indicator illuminated also. the failure occurred intermittently. the vehicle had been taken to a dealer. the mechanic diagnose that the soft wear, hardware modules needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 9,600.lj
In feb. 2013 i purchased a 2013 grand jeep trail hawk edition, in span of 3 to 4 months the jeep was in the service department 6 times trying to fix issues. jeep was unable to completely fix the problems to my satisfaction, i was given incentive to trade in for a 2014 grand jeep cherokee limited edition, which was running great until this past thursday. on thursday i started my jeep it barely would idle, i proceeded to get on the interstate which is when the vehicle started jumping up and down like i was going off road. it would suddenly change to neutral without me doing anything, it kept missing gears and barely running. i was barely able to get off the exit. when i got off the exit it would barely idle and again shifted to neutral without me doing anything. eventually i safely made it off the exit and into a parking lot where i got it towed. the tow truck driver could barely pull it up on the trailer. when it was placed on the trailer it wouldn't stay in park, it kept trying to shift out of gear. there needs to be some type of investigation in the grand jeep cherokee models and how they are passing inspections through production line because obviously for a consumer to get two defective vehicles in 7 months is unacceptable and unbelievable.
Upon starting my 2014 jeep grand cherokee overland, all of the warning lights came on and remained on. this included, but was not limited to: airbags, electronic stability control, abs brake system, check engine light, and others. the messages in the dashboard information screen indicated various failures and the need to service immediately. the rear backup camera also became non functioning. after shutting down the vehicle, waiting several minutes and then restarting, the problems continued. out of safety concerns, i called the nearest jeep dealer and was advised they "had never heard of this" and if i wanted service that i would have to leave the vehicle there since they do not make appointments. the lights went out upon restarting again, however i am very tentative about driving it, as i do not know if these important safety systems and/or warnings have failed. this is potentially extremely dangerous and totally inexcusable in a $47,000 vehicle which is less than 6 months old. the navigation system and radio have not worked properly since i purchased the jeep. upon calling jeep, and providing my vin #, i was advised that it needed a "radio enhancement". looking online, there are many complaints of this electrical safety issue, and yet two local dealers have never heard of it ? there also doesn't appear to be any apparent "fix" at this time. hopefully the nhtsa can look into this potentially dangerous problem. *tr
When i turned my vehicle on this morning the instrument cluster showed warning lights for the engine, emergency brake, airbags, abs and electronic stability control. i also got separate messages saying to have the airbags, abs and electronic stability control checked. the speedometer would not work when i started driving nor would the odometer. although it doesn't appear that there is anything actually wrong with the car, this is obviously a safety hazard since i cannot tell what speed i am driving at. will be bringing the car in to the dealer to get the issue sorted, but wanted to file a complaint in the hopes that a recall occurs (it appears as though i am not the first person this has happened to). *tr
The vehicle has been giving me trouble with lots of necessities like air conditioning shutting off and fronts light turn off on their own. on friday, september 6th 2013, i was driving to the dealership to get things fixed but while i was on my way there driving, the steering wheel just locked and the vehicle wont respond and it was running, it switched to neutro then park on its own and steering wheel locked and brakes are heavy! miraculously and thanks god, i was not injured and the vehicle not damaged! i was in big shock and stress! i have never experienced something like that, it nearly could have been killed me or hit something or somebody or causing damage! i went to the dealership and spoke to one of the service center manager and explained what happened, they tested the vehicle and it the manager told me, this vehicle has lots of issues need to be fixed! i told them, this vehicle nearly got me killed or injured or some damage could have been happened! they gave me a cheap rental car and refer me to talk directly to the company produced the vehicle! i called on friday and they gave me a case number and told me your case will be assigned to a manager whom will contact you! i have trying since then to get a hold of anybody to help! but seems nobody seems to be taking this seriously! and i would just wonder, what if you are in the vehicle with kids or somebody of your family members or friends! would you guys take it seriously if something bad could have been happened to me or others!? i am really scared to drive this vehicle ! its a very serious matter, i just think about it and say: what if something bad happen to me or a damage has been done to others!? i am very stressed and depressed about it, and most importantly scared to drive this vehicle or trusting that car dealership! i can't drive this vehicle after this experience and i need help! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v643000 (air bags, seat belts); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact was concerned that the air bag would deploy in his face. the vehicle burned oil continuously and there was blue fumes coming from the rear of the vehicle. in addition, the horn sounded and the hood latch failed. the dealer repaired the vehicle. the brake master cylinder protective plate was repaired under nhtsa campaign notification p67. the fuel door mechanism was fractured and the dealer repaired the vehicle. the dip stick was not replaced. a grinder was marked for a new factory dip stick. the contact also stated that the dealer placed too much oil in the vehicle. when the vehicle was new with less than 200 miles, the instrument cluster failed and the contact could not see how fast the vehicle was driving. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed a short circuit in the sun visor wiring. the vehicle was repaired. the contact also stated that the locks unlocked on their own. when the button was pushed on the key fob to open the rear tailgate, it would not respond. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 11,351.
Whole panel goes blank lose all info for driving brakes seem abnormal does not brake easy. navigation instrument panels go blank and freeze also car shifter from auto drive to super while driving. 3rd attempt to fix replaced whole cluster but still have the same problem my wife will not drive car anymore due to fear of safety and have children only 5000 miles on it and we cannot drive anymore very unsafe. lemon law should go into effect asap. *tr
I started my car and the entire instrument cluster would not display on the screen. i could put the car in gear and drive it, but there was no speedometer etc. i turned the car off and on, but the problem persisted for about an hour, when the display suddenly began to work.
Similar to nhtsa ids#: 10533622 and 10533524. occurrence: 5 times to date frequency: randomly speed: less than or equal to 50 mph each time adaptive cruise control: always off, never on vehicle mileage: ~ 3,200 the car randomly applies the brakes even though there are no objects in the road (front, rear or sides) and no pending accident. out of the five times, two of those times so hard that the anti-lock brakes activated. this is very dangerous and can cause an accident. to date no accidents, because no cars have been around when this happens. i have a family and am afraid to continue to drive or let them drive this vehicle. it has been to the dealer once for this issue and will now go in a second time because the issue was not resolved. the ntsb should really look into this issue with chrysler and either issue a recall or at a minimum issue a tsb. *tr

On 8-1-2013 our 2 week old new 2014 jeep grand cherokee when started the instrument cluster would not come on and stayed black. i restarted the jeep and the cluster came on. then on 8-8-2013 the same thing happened again the instrument cluster went black and stayed off for over fifteen minutes. this is a major safety issue and i am concerned for my wife and daughters safety. i filed a complaint with chrysler yesterday and am calling the dealership today to see what can be done. i just wanted to make a record of this with you as i see online that this is a growing problem . *tr
When using the remote start... the car does turn on. however, it doesn't remember settings or adjust inside options (heated seats, steering wheel, defrosters) in the summer the a/c doesn't trn on. when i open the door that's when the settings turn on. system is not running as designed. *tr
First instance: at vehicle startup, electronic gauge cluster immediately posted "service immediately" warnings for abs, air bags, 4x4 suspension, parksense, among others. speedometer was not operational. unsure if blind spot monitoring was operational. check engine light remained on. turning off ignition, opening doors, and waiting several minutes did not clear the issue. after waiting overnight, everything was operable. at first service visit, dealer reconfigured pcm per chrysler and returned vehicle. second instance: approximately two weeks later, the above issue recurred. we could not make it to the dealer and had to drive the vehicle in this condition. a few days later, the issue recurred once more. this time, we were able to drive it to dealer. while service was closed, we asked someone to verify the condition and download codes. we contacted jeep customer care and was assigned a case manager. at service visit, the dealer stated they were unaware of this ever happening, and i told them i had seen several cases on jeep internet forums of an abs module being replaced. after speaking with jeep, dealer installed new abs module. also, we were given a rental chrysler 300c for one day during this visit, and it failed to start the morning we had it due to an apparent electrical issue and had to be towed from our garage. just two weeks after the jeep had the abs module replaced, we have yet to see recurrence. however, when i asked chrysler case manager if all systems displayed as needing service during this issue were truly mechanically working or not, she said they "probably" were. when i questioned that response, she stated the best thing to do would be to pull over and have vehicle towed if it happened again. she would not confirm that other vehicles had a similar issue or if the abs module fix was successful in those cases. *tr
A couple of weeks after getting my 2014 jeep grand cherokee home after patiently waiting 8 weeks from the time i ordered it to pick it up, i noticed that the radio channels all had a slight static in the back ground and every station was making a popping noise every few minutes. the radio does not sound good. after taking it in for the fourth time to try and repair this problem, i was told that chrysler does not have a repair for this at this time. along with the poor sound of the radio, a couple of times i have gone to start the vehicle and all of my pre set sirius stations were gone. this is very unacceptable to me to pay this much for a vehicle that has a major fault and chrysler and the dealership have done nothing but make me pay for rental cars while they couldn't fix the problem or give me any hope of fixing it in the future. i was told by the last dealership that i took it to that the radio is as good as it is going to get. *tr
When getting out of the vehicle i lock the door from the inside , when walking away the car will unlock. *tr
At what point does someone step in and say enough is enough. in 1 1/2 years my vehicle has been in 12 times. besides the 7 recalls, there has also been issues with the gas cover broke, leather seat issues, power steering, shocks, brake boot and rear camera. if that isn't bad enough, many times they issue a recall and don't even have the parts available. the lemon laws are so dealer and manufacture friendly that it is very difficult to qualify. each time i go to the dealer it is 120 miles round trip. someone needs to step in and reimburse the consumers for this expensive mistake that jeep made in manufacturing these vehicles which has been passed on to the consumer who thought we were getting a reliable product. *tr
I've owned my '14 jeep grand cherokee limited for four months. it has now been at the dealership twice for the same issue. i turn on the jeep and all of the emergency lights go on, including the abs, emergency brake, traction control, airbag etc. the speedometer does not work and still allows me to drive. the initial cycle tells me to service the abs and airbags. the rear parking sensor also does not function. i was told the abs module was faulty the first time and they replaced it with a new one. again, i am being told that the abs module is faulty. i have a feeling jeep has no clue what the real issue is. this is an extreme safety concern. i feel unsafe driving my family in this vehicle as i do not know if the safety controls are working properly. *tr
While traveling at high speed or low speed for no reason vehicles gear shifter selects neutral on its own. also problems with vehicle instruments display, displaying various faults with vehicle. after vehicle comes to a stop and vehicle restarted problem disappears then reappears a short time later. now taken back to dealer for them to repair vehicle. still waiting after two weeks for chrysler to repair/supply new parts. *tr
Issues to date: these issues are not dependent on which key fob is present or which memory setting is pushed. it happens on all memory and personalization settings. --the collision warning and adaptive cruise randomly say they are active or inactive.. sometimes they don't do anything. when clicking the check box for near or far, sometimes it will "uncheck" while you are watching it. sometimes you can click far, then it moves to near all on its own. --randomly the check marks for other various customizations disappear. randomly they reappear. --nav/radio randomly reboots. this occurs in park, and while driving at all speeds --nav has completely lost me and put me in the middle of a large body of water (have picture) --ac doesn't come on when vehicle is remotely started. it was set to auto and 74 when the vehicle was shut off. --radio settings don't change when you push for occupant one or two-- then again sometimes it changes just because --xm service sometimes takes 30 seconds or more to load.. even when sitting in a wal-mart parking lot. whiles it's loading the reverse camera doesn't activate. -- gotten two vehicle needs service 911 messages. one just for service the second time for phone not working (have picture of this screen) --on second message i had the vehicle call uconnect assist. the vehicle called... my phone was not linked to it. the girl on the other end hung up on me after i refused to provide my vin which the vehicles center console says it sent. i have been working with the local dealership. they replaced the center console/nav unit yesterday and nothing changed. *tr

I have been having multiple problems with the brakes in my 2014 jeep grand cherokee purchased brand new in may. it has a total of 1,000 miles on it, but the problems started with only 10miles. the instrument cluster immediately lights up like a christmas tree and then the check engine light remains on. the rearview mirrors move into downward facing positions while in park and while driving. this alone is a major safety hazard. the abs brakes intermittently work and finally failed. the abs module failed. the backup camera works intermittently and the backup warning system also is intermittently working. my car has been at the dealership every month since i have purchased it and it has currently been there for the last 2 weeks awaiting an abs repair. *tr
Instrument cluster went out while driving. this included the speedometer, fuel gauge, rpm. and engine temperature gauge. i had no idea the speed in which i was driving. i have had the car for 10 days. i was heading in the same direction as the dealership when this occurred. drove it right there and made sure they saw it was not working before taking and turning the vehicle off and on. the dealership said it needed a new instrument cluster and it would be 3 to 5 days to get the part. the dealer tried to get me to take the vehicle and bring it back when the part came in since the instrument cluster came back on. i told them i did not feel safe doing that. the dealership ending up giving me a rental car. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the instrument panel would sporadically power off and reboot independently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who removed the battery cable for 10 minutes before reconnecting. there were no repairs made to the vehicle. the exact cause of the failure was unknown however, the failure recurred. the failure was not reported to the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 29. the current mileage was 233.
I am currently leasing a 2014 jeep grand cherokee - the lease started in may 2013. since driving the car off the lot i have had constant problems with the radio/navigation/bluetooth and back-up camera - none of them work 90% of the time. the car often wont turn off even after turning it off (ie radio wont go off headlights wont turn off). i have taken the car in twice for repairs and the problems are no better. i have 2 other friends with the exact same car and the exact same problems. *tr
