Tl* the contact was calling on behalf of his daughter that owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee laredo. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the message center displayed battery low voltage warning. the contact stated that smoke billowed from the engine compartment before the vehicle stalled. the contact who was a certified mechanic disconnected the alternator and restarted the vehicle. the vehicle was driven to the residence. the vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or the dealer for a diagnostic. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 77,000. *bf*jb

Electrical stops working, software malfunctions of computer. shuts off or shows service for 911 phone. power steering doesn't work and brakes are hard and flutter.

My jeep started with an error 'service shifter' on the control panel shortly after that all the codes started popping up. steering wheel, tire pressure, etc. i took it to the dealership they have replaced the body control module but unfortunately the codes have not cleared. i've had this vehicle for only two years the service department at the dealership can not pinpoint the problem on it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving at various speeds, the windshield wipers turned on, the radio and instrument cluster went blank without warning. the auto park disengaged and the low voltage battery warning messages were displayed. additionally, the vehicle safe mode engaged. the vehicle was taken to earnhardt chrysler dodge jeep ram (1521 e drivers way, gilbert, az 85297: (480) 926-4000) where it was informed that a flash upgrade was needed. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 67,000.

I have a acc / fcw unavailable message that deactivates my auto breaking system to prevent a collision. this error message may relate to the orc module that may control other safety devices in the vehicle such as the air bags. this deactivation occurs while the vehicle is in motion city street and on the highway.

Car will not start, told issue with independent power distribution module failure. told there are recalls but not on my vin. reading issue could also cause vehicle to stall if issue occurred while driving. did have power train recall done and was told could be related.

Yesterday out of nowhere my passenger headrest deployed, i wasn't in an accident i was just parked and the headrest just popped out of place. i call the dealer and they told me is over $600 of repair. i don't understand why i should pay the repair when it is a vehicle malfunction.

Car shut off unexpectedly 3 separate occasions after being service by local service shop and dealership. it left me stranded in middle of street.

Our daughter purchased this 2014 jeep grand cherokee and within 18hrs of purchase the jeep wouldn't start. the jeep does not respond to the push button start and no codes appear once the jeep is able to start. on one occasion driving down the road the dash lights blink then turn off and back on. it has left her stranded on at least 5 different occasions where it took over 2hours before it would start. the car battery has been replaced, key fob battery replaced, body control module, and the dealership is still trying to track down the problem. it's been in the shop for almost a solid month. she has only driven it the equivalent of 24hrs since all this started.

Vehicle experiences random illumination of multiple instrument cluster warning lights, loss of cluster illumination, loss of speed display, and loss of abs and esc system functions. sometimes vehicle shifts into 3rd gear, and does not respond to shift commands. this occurs randomly, sometimes right after start-up, sometimes after a few minutes of driving.

The alternator in my vehicle failed and caused the car to stall while driving on the highway. there is a recall, p60 alternator but it is only related to the 3.6l engine and i have the 5.8l v8. there is also an advanced communication t3607112017 which seems to describe my vehicle and includes the v8 jeep but it is also not listed as a recall on my vehicle. how do i find out why my vehicle was excluded from the recall as my vehicle was affected.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 60 mph, the battery indicator illuminated and the vehicle shut down. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and replaced the alternator. the failure was repaired. the dealer was not called. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was no recall. the failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

The windshield wipers will not turn off and the turn signal blinkers do not work. all was working; the next day the problem started. started the vehicle and the windshield wipers started even though the switch was off. the continued windshield wiper problem made it easy to identify that something was wrong. took it into the dealer for a recall problem (safety recall u65- reprogram powertrain control) and had them look at the new problem, too. the multi function switch was fine but the vehicle needed a new vehicle harness and would cost over $3,500 to fix and install. the dealer would have to order the harness because they do not have any in stock. the dealer charged $145 and kept the car for two days to tell me that. have disconnected the battery several times in an effort to reboot the vehicle computer. looking online this is not the only time this has happened. the problem is unresolved.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the vehicle was taken to dch chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat of temecula (26845 ynez rd, temecula, ca 92591, (951) 225-4541) for a software upgrade per manufacturer recall number: v08. after the repair, the vehicle was inoperable. the contact mentioned that when the vehicle was started and the accelerator pedal was depressed, there was a delay in acceleration. the contact mentioned that the vehicle would not accelerate over 6 mph. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 49,000.

Dashboard lights turn on and off, windshield, steering wheel, gear lever, truck slows down, and service shifter

Tl* the contact's wife owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that there was a software patch update that was required for the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to dutchess chrysler jeep dodge (2285 south rd, poughkeepsie, ny 12601, (845) 462-7700) and the update was performed. upon the update being performed, the vehicle would not accelerate over 30 mph without warning. the contact also stated that the vehicle would stall at various speeds without warning. furthermore, the vehicle jerked while driving various speeds and the check engine warning indicator later illuminated. when the check engine indicator illuminated, all the internal electric units, such as the phone charger, 3g wi-fi, voice control system unit, and other electrical units failed to operate. the contact took the vehicle to healey chrysler dodge jeep ram (557 ny-52, beacon, ny 12508, (845) 831-1148) where they replaced a sensor under warranty. the check engine indicator initially turned off after the sensor was replaced; however, the failure recurred soon after the remedy was performed. the manufacturer was notified of the failures and stated that they were still awaiting another software update to correct the failure. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

I have a service shifter light coming on constantly as well as some random radio station changes. it all started after last recall was fixed. i love my jeep but am so frustrated.

No low battery warning light, only show a warning if alternator is bad and not charging battery. thus, car can stop without warning due to low battery because of wear and needing replacement- without warning. when this happens, everything in car works on electricity can cause a very bad accident if stops in traffic. also, with no key override when the car electrical module will not read to the key fob if you are in or out of the car you can not open doors or windows or turn on or off anything, if doors/windows locked when this happens this is very dangerous-no way to get out or in. if stuck in the desert without help and car module stops picking up key fob one is sol. lots of complaints online. very unhappy with the fact that chrysler creates recalls only for a select few when they know that they continue to use the same faulty technology on most of their cars they build. my rear door module stopped working and i had to replace it and it cost me over $500. when going online i see that chrysler had a recall for this problem for older models but would not cover the newer years although they used the same faulty technology on them as well. fortunately, i had just parked my car in the garage and did not lock the doors so we could still get in it and have it towed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 35 mph, the low battery voltage warning indicator illuminated, the windshield wipers activated, and the display screen went blank. the contact heard an abnormal noise before the engine turned off. the contact made multiple attempts to start the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. an independent mechanic stated that he could smell smoke from the alternator. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the contact called marburger chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 1310 e dixon blvd, shelby, nc 28152, (704) 484-0049) to notify them that the vehicle was experiencing failures similar to what was listed in nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 53,000. *tr consumer has replaced the alternator. *jb

A message displayed in our screen that the 911 car phone needed servicing and to contact the jeep dealer. at that point the gps malfunctioned, the front and back defrosters started to function at full speed at 78 degrees and absolutely none of the radio functions were useable. uconnect sent jeep dealer an update for the radio and the update failed. we were told our jeep needed time the radio to be replaced. but we could only get a refurbished radio and there weren't any available. it has been 4 weeks and uconnect informed us that there has been an additional delay on the refurbished radio. we requested a new radio be installed and a rental car provided to us until the radio is fully functioning. we are informed by both jeep dealer and uconnect there is nothing that can be done for us until the refurbished radio becomes available. this is totally unacceptable. a new radio vendor should be used. uconnect is inadequate to service their product in a timely fashion, cannot provide a new radio replacement in stock, and only can offer refurbished radio replacement and cannot give a date when one will be available. we live in illinois but are vacationing in california and our car is stuck on 78 degree defrosters.running full speed. no gps or any other features associated with the radio.

2014 jeep grand cherokee. consumer writes in regard to vehicle problems with emission devices and re generation protocol. *as the consumer stated the vehicle goes into safe mode. *js

N58 my jeep did something weird on 4/21/2019 dash lights came on like abs and traction control light was on in the dash but the push button light down below the heat buttons was also on. also service 4 wheel drive was flashing on the dash along with the selector wheel on the left of the dash screen went to terrain mode all by it self.also on the screen it chimed 4 wheel drive unavailable. i was in drive and driving straight.

Went through a car wash and 2 minutes later abs and traction control light came on in the dash also service four wheel drive came on with a chime sound i took the vehicle to have code read and stored codes are as follows u041500, u040300 the abs lights and traction control light and service 4 wheel drive light went off a day later was told a possible water got into something and then driedout

Driver side air conditioner blows hot air even when temp is set as low as 63 degrees while the passenger side works normally. service rep at dealership informed me that this is a common problem with jeep vehicles. was told repairs could be over $1000. if jeep knows that this is a reoccurring problem, why should i have to pay for their error?

Jeep randomly stalls driving on freeway and/or jerks when downshifting. vehicle also downshifts hard from 8th to 6th gear, all other gear shifts are fine. while driving at 60 mph vehicle stalled when accelerating to speed up. vehicle attempted to downshift from 8th gear when stall occurred. once vehicle was stopped it started back up without issue to destination. it has chugged 5 separate times when downshifting on freeway in the 7 weeks of owning car, this time it completely died. no check engine light or other indications of engine/transmission failure. no failures recorded to onboard computer. gas tank 3/4, outside temp 38, oil temp 180, transmission temp 140; normal accessories on including lights, radio, heater, seat warmer low. all recalls up to date including campaign uc1.

Takata recall when i press the start button in the jeep it hesitates to start. sometimes have to do it couple times, then it shifts funny when you press on gas like it doesn't get enough power.

Service keyless entry. affecting many jeep gc models. i was left stranded.

2018 - "service shifter" message pops up. over $1000 i had to pay to replace it as it was just outside of warranty time. past few years, in cold weather, the suspension creaks and cracks noises. just yesterday, february 2019, less than 5 years old, "service air suspension immediately" pops up on my way home on interstate. very bumpy ride all the way to my local dealership. i feel i was lucky when i made it, as the tops of the rear tires were angled inward. apparently, one air suspension "bag" blew out. this resulted in the pump/compressor burning out. having to replace both bags at the same time and the pump, over $4,300 repair for something no fault of my own and for something that should only happen in cars that are much older in my opinion. looking online, appears to be many complaints about this. will jeep address this issue and maybe "recall" this system so we can be reimbursed? i am about to switch brands as soon as i get this one out of the dealership service dept and anyone else i ever come across who wants to buy a jeep, i will tell them the horror stories from my current overland, my previous overland, with its 2011 model issues, and my unlimited wrangler issues before that. i don't hear any issues like these from friends and family with other brand vehicles.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving out of the parking lot, the vehicle shut off and the insufficient battery charge indicator illuminated. the failure recurred and the vehicle was towed to ron carter chrysler jeep dodge ram of league city (281-668-5383, located at 3535 gulf fwy, dickinson, tx 77539). the dealer stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v435000 (electrical system), 17v572000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic), and 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control). the vehicle was kept at the shop for the recall repairs. four days later, the dealer still had not completed the repair, stating that the gear was stuck in park. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 83,000. parts distribution disconnect.

While in motion, on my way work, my 2014 grand cherokee summit with 3.0 l turbo diesel engine, 220 amp alternator and 49000 miles experienced a loss of power steering, battery light came on, voltmeter showed no charging of battery. my electronic indicator system stated the vehicle went into battery saver mode with a loss of abs, heating and ventilation, air suspension system, all safety enhancements such as park sense, no electronic transmission system changes and check engine light came on. there was a recall on gasoline engine 2014 grand cherokees along with others (chrysler recall t36) and i have seen another complaint similar to mine sharing the same engine on this sight. i do believe this is was caused by catastrophic alternator failure. a new battery was installed and the battery light is still on and still in battery saver mode( an indicator also of no charging) and volmeter indicates no charging. i will be replacing the alternator tomorrow.

Both lights illuminating the rear license plate have blown out. this was discovered during an inspection. the replacement lights are dealer only parts coating over $200 each.

Complete electronic and communications failure of instrument panel from unknown electrical shortage resulting in loss of control over transmission shifting and most control switches like windshield wipers, turn signals, emergency flashers and brake warning like is on that i believe indicated no abs. experienced this problem many times driving on i-75 in michigan and ohio. very dangerous situation while on the road without any prior warning. initial warning is "service shifter soon" followed by "no bus". after multiple trips to the fca dealer, root cause not identified and more fix to date. suspect the electronic shifter malfunctioning but no help from dealer service department. reoccuring problem for the past 9 months. current mileage is 79,000 miles with vin # (xxx) 2014 jeep grand cherokee. no accidents or aftermarket add on work ever. i fear for my safety driving this vehicle to florida for retirement on 1-25-2019 through 1-29-2019. again, no resolution from golling chrysler or from fca star case #57876853. i fear this vehicle is not reliable at this point for short or long distance driving. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cw

I am having to replace an alternator on this vehicle for sudden failure. currently there is a recall for exact condition but my vin is outside of recall limits. i feel my vehicle should be included as exact conditions exist..

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 45 mph, the battery save mode alarm sounded, the steering lost power, and the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the vehicle was later towed to dick scott chrysler dodge jeep ram (734-451-2110, located at 684 ann arbor rd, plymouth, mi 48170) where it was diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 64,800.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving various speeds, the vehicle shuddered and stalled. the contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. at times, the vehicle failed to start from a cold start. the contact had to make several attempts before the vehicle would start correctly. the contact called landmark chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat of atlanta (located at 5765 peachtree industrial blvd, atlanta, ga 30341, 678-359-3410) and informed them of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system) and referred the contact to nhtsa to file a complaint. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000. *ln consumer stated video of fuel pump/relay issue safety hazard. car shuts off while coasting.*jb

Constantly will make a squeeling sound every morning on start up. lasts over a minute - not even on cold days! have had it looked at - state can't duplicate the oeuvre (of course because it's always the first start up! rough idle every 2-3 minutes, transmission shifts hard out of first gear. pour fuel economy as well. maintenance has been done. just bought the car - several issues

Keep getting a message that states the 911 system needs maintenance. when starting my jeep my screen will stay blank for about 3-5 minutes before coming on. when it is blank i am unable to use my back up camera, adjust my climate controls, bluetooth phone. the vehicle will switch between air conditioning and heat, high fan and low fan speed. when the screen is blank i am unable to do anything.....even using the buttons below the screen do not work. i am unable to unlock my doors using my door unlock/lock control on the drivers side. while im driving i can unlock my doors, which as a safety feature i should not be able to do. my oil change notification will not go away even after getting my oil changed.

While driving my 2014 jeep grand cherokee one morning while it was still dark i noticed that the drivers side head light went out and came back on intermittently. the next morning i tried again and all the lights went in and out completely. providing a very dangerous satiation not only to me but other driver's. i made an appointment with the dealer (had to wait one week to get it in to service). they checked it out and said they needed to order a part and gave the jeep back and would call when they had the part. when we took it back for the repairs they kept the jeep for three weeks trying to fix the problem. saying they could not figure out the fix after chrysler told them to change a part in the computer system. when that did not work they contacted chrysler and got a technician who advise that the headlights were the problem. the dealer change out the headlights and charged us $917.88 for the repairs saying it was not covered by my extended warranty. i truly believe this is a chrysler problem with electrical issues, wiring or computers and should be covered by chrysler not by individual owners. this is substantiated by all the complaints for the same type of problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle started to lose power and the low battery indicator illuminated. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road as the contact noticed smoke from underneath the hood. a burning odor was perceived. the vehicle was towed to walser chrysler jeep dodge ram (866-323-0559, located at 314 mainstreet, hopkins, mn 55343) where it was diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 44,000.

Went to start my car today, and there was a long crank but the car did not turn on. this happened 2 more times. finally, the third time during the long crank, i stepped on the accelerator and the engine finally turned on. during the whole thing, the dashboard was on, lights were on, and radio was on - so it was not a battery issue. there was no warnings on my dashboard and no lights turned on afterwards - as if everything was fine. i am worried because i have read multiple listings regarding cars stalling while in drive, or worsening of these symptoms. i know there has been a tpim recall contributing to faulty stalling - but 2014 model was not covered under the recall. if my car symptoms become progressively worse - i am afraid that my car will shut off while i am driving - placing me and others on the road in high risk for danger.

Having extended starting issues, sometimes car has to be turned off and then back on,have been to dealer 2 times ,purge valve was replaced ,with no change in extended start.vehicle is stationary.dealer seemed to be more interested in selling us other services unrelated to extended start such as coolant flush and tires ,spark plugs alignements which have already been completed before visit, this car appears to be under recall r09 , but dealer does not seem to think it is

When i start up my truck the center console will not come on right away, it takes about 3 to 5 minutes for it to come on, so when i'm backing up i cannot tell if anything is in my way. my sensors don't work, etc. when it do decide to come on, a message pops up ( vehicle phone requires service please contact your dealer ) this is the second time this has happened the first time this happened i took the vehicle to the dealership and i was told that the radio has to be replaced.so i had the radio replaced and this happened less than a year ago. now it's happening again. this started 9/24/2018 and have been happening every day sense then.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times without warning while driving various speeds. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v741000 (electrical system), 17v435000 (electrical system), and 14v634000 (electrical system). the dealer (ferman chrysler jeep dodge ram tampa, 24314 fl-54, lutz, fl 33559, (813) 929-2400) was unable to identify the cause of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the failure mileage was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. after the vehicle was started, the instrument cluster gauges did not illuminate or operate. the vehicle was taken to central florida chrysler/jeep/dodge (8675 commodity cir, orlando, fl) where it was diagnosed that the entire instrument cluster needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. the failure mileage was 83,000.

My husband and i financed our jeep about 8 months ago and it had been running fine. no problems at all. we don't drive it often. a couple weeks ago we went to start it and all the dash lights came on and it wouldn't go into gear. it said put it in park and then select gear or something like that. we called gresham toyota ( where we bought the jeep) and they said to tow it over so they could run diagnostics. after towing it there they said we had to toe it to keep because they can't do diagnostics. we towed it to gresham jeep and they said we broke the shifter. how do you break a shifter??? i know we didn't break the shifter and it has to be some sort of a defect. it's now costing us $1400.00 to fix. i can only imagine what this would have done if it happened while we were driving.

My 2014 jeep grand cherokee ,shut down while i was driving in the issaquah fall city road . steering wheels locked and brakes failed and everything shut down. i barely made it to the walgreens parking lot where the vehicle completely died to the point where even the keys wouldn't work . i barely made it alive . i am glad i didn't crash into anyone . i had to tow the vehicle later in the day to the dealership . they asked me to drop it off at their garage . today they got back to me saying , there was an open recall on the vehicle and that caused the alternator to fail and shut down everything . they said because it's an open recall they would fix it themselves as it's covered under some warranty . but they also told me that there is an issue with some oil pressure sensor and the awd system is stuck in awd and they will have to fix it and have me a parts and labor charge of 2000 usd which i have to bear . is this normal practice . i don't know how the awd system suddenly got into this state . if it's a result of the alternator issue caused by the open recall , wouldn't they manufacturer/dealer have to bear it . . thanks !!

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the service shifter indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to stockton dodge chrysler jeep ram (3333 auto center cir, stockton, ca 95212), but it could not be repaired because there was not an active failure code on the vehicle. the failure occurred several times. also, while driving the vehicle, the instrument panel screen went black and all the indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to lodi chrysler dodge jeep ram (1255 beckham rd, lodi, ca 95240) multiple times, but they could not diagnose the cause of the failures. the dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v483000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system). the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 68,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while operating the vehicle, the speedometer displayed an inaccurate speed and displayed speeds much higher than the speed the vehicle was actually traveling. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 55,000.

My 2014 jeep grand cherokee recently had the check engine light come on. the error code is "p0520 - engine oil pressure sensor". jeep has a service bulliten out for this being that it is a known issue and to replace with a revised part. however, that is only coverdd under warranty. otherwise, it is a very expensive repair due to the labor involved. there is multiple occurances of this as i have seen in jeep forums and wondering how this is even allowed? if jeep is aware of a faulty part, how can they get away with not recalling this? and putting the expense on their consumers? i know this does not involve safety directly but this does not seem ethical to me. is there a way an investigation can be done on this? this occured when starting my engine and the light came on. the oil pressure reading in the dash is clearly not reading correctly.
