Intermittent no start, extended crank. once started, vehicle runs fine. issue began right after recall r09 performed at 43,574 miles. issue seemed to be resolved but repeated at 47,985 miles. dealer stated that win module needed replacing at a cost of $180. repairs were completed. issue has now returned at 69,000 miles. taking vehicle in for service on 2/13/19.
I am afraid to drive my vehicle. the first issue happened a few months ago, the car refused to start and had to be towed to the dealership to get fixed. there was an electrical fault, and could have happened at any point. currently the vehicle has been at the dealership since november 10th. the vehicle hesitates before moving forward when i step on the gas, then something engages and it jumps forward. sometimes it comes to a stop before it rapidly accelerates. the jeep has been at atlantic jeep for almost four weeks and the dealer has not been forthcoming in explaining what is going on. they can't seem to figure it out themselves and i am in fear of driving this car in the future if the same problems occur. there seems to be a big risk of having a crash with the issues described above. this happened on highways, streets, slow or fast didn't seem to have an affect. this has been a major issue, and is very scary for me as a driver.
I was driving my 2013 jeep grand cherokee on a city streetwhen my eyes and throat started burning. my 10 month old infant began to cry as i realized smoke was filing the cabin. i panicked, and pulled over, turned off the car and immediately took my baby out of the car. we remained in the side of the road for assistance. i continued seeing smoke coming out of the right side of my car. when assistance arrived, i realized the right visor had caught on fire and a result was burned with a black hole. i took my jeep to the dealership on january 6, 2015 to get it serviced for recall p 36, which is related to the sun visor wiring. i was told by the dealership, that the recall had been completed. i contacted chyrsler customer support after my jeep was on fire and filed a complaint. the representative was so rude and told me it would take 2-3 business days to get my case reviewed. this was not a surprise, as i have dealt with chrysler customer service in the past and have never had a good experience. i feared for my safety as well the safety of my infant. i refuse to drive that car, and was told by the customer representative that i shoukd take it to the dealership. why they would suggest that ? i don't know. i don't feel safe and now i am car less as i wait for someone to review my case.
Dealer requires that i leave the vehicle at the dealer's repair shop for an entire day and that i pay them a rental fee for a loaner car during that period. i will not pay to have these manufacturer defects corrected. there are currently four (4) outstanding recall notices on this vehicle and they will not fix any of them without compensation.

I have a chrysler recall #r09 (fuel pump relay replacement). after speaking with a fca recall representative, i an told that these parts are still not available, yet my vehicle is a danger to drive! i did research, and my local dealer can get a tipm module which includes the fuel pump relay, in just 2 days. i can have my vehicle repaired in just a week. yet i'm still waiting on parts that fca has "approved" for the repair. fca has still not offered to give me a safe rental vehicle. they just told me to drive my vehicle until it stalls/wont start, or until "approved" parts arrive. after speaking with the recall representative, i was told parts "may" be available by the end of august. i feel fca is doing anything that they can to save money rather than fix my car. i want my car fixed. if "approved" parts are not available by the end of august, i will be filing another complaint with both fca, and nhtsa.

Please review email chain to chrysler's customer assistance center (note: i had to delete their passive response to my original email since your system limits the number of characters. they provided no real support other than to go to a dealer, which i have multiple times since and they have not identified any issue): dear customer assistance center i do not understand why you have not taken my issue seriously. tonight a similar situation happened. the keyless fob was in a purse on the passenger seat of the vehicle. as my wife exited the vehicle, the doors were somehow locked. she was unable to open the doors from the outside of the vehicle. luckily, again, there was someone of age that could open the doors. however, i have a 2 year old son that is normally in his car seat, and would have no possibility to exit the vehicle in this condition, and this is life threatening as we live in a hot climate, especially in the summer time. my next email and phone call is with nhtsa. this is 100% unacceptable and you have taken my concerns lightly. when there is the first fatality due to this issue, there will be major consequences to chrysler. i will discuss this with nhtsa. regards jody original message follows: ------------------------ us customer service - jeep brand site brief description: safety concern with '13 jeep cherokee comments: this weekend we were presented with a safety concern with our '13 jeep cherokee. my wife had her key in her purse, got out of the vehicle with her purse still in the car. while getting out, the driver's side door partially shut, she was outside of the car but couldn't open any door. my 2 year old son was in the car, but luckily my 6 yr old daughter was able to get out of her seat and open the door, otherwise he would have been locked inside.

Oct 7, 2014: nhtsa 14v-391 or fca p36 safety recall repair was done at a local chrysler jeep dealership. apr 30, 2015: vehicle taken to same dealership to check a buzzing sound in the rh sun visor area, service technician could not duplicate the customer complaint. may 19, 2015: sudden acrid smoke odor detected while driving, pulled to curb and turned off motor. some smoke inhalation but no burn injuries to driver. noticed black and white melted areas on rh sun visor, rh vanity mirror and rh headliner. external roof area above the rh sun visor had approximate 3" crack and the paint was split open from the extreme heat, digital photos taken. on jun 30, 2015, we learned the "the source of the fire was not related to the p36 repair, but was for another cause". on jul 10, 2015, we learned the p36 repair plastic shroud was intact and the cause of the fire was found in the wiring harness above the sun visor in the headliner area. chrysler jeep denied our warranty repair request on jul 24, 2015, because the source of the fire could not be traced back to a factory defect in materials or workmanship. on jul 27, 2015, our local chrysler jeep dealer decided to repair our vehicle, at their cost, because we were valued customers, but the decision came the same day a letter was read by the dealership general manager that said we may pursue a remedy using the california lemon law. we found there were more than 91 other similar incidents in 2011-2014 jeep grand cherokee and dodge durango vehicles, and at least 8 more experienced fires after the p36 safety recall repair had been completed. we encourage nhtsa to have fca install circuit breakers in vanity lamp wiring harnesses for 2011-2014 jeep grand cherokee and dodge durango vehicles. our vehicle repair was completed after 13 weeks, on aug 18, 2015
