Tl* the contact owns a 2013 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the fuel pump did not pump fuel. the vehicle was restarted a couple of times to get the fuel pump to work. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to iverson chrysler dodge jeep ram huron (605-352-8686, located at 101 2nd st sw, huron, sd) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay needed to be replaced. the technician also confirmed that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system), but the part was on backorder. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 140,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.

The problem started with the key fob, after locking the car the doors would unlock and lock again with out my control. then more electrical issues occurred, the lights flickered, the rear camera stopped working, and then driving the car eventually the power steering went out and it was dangerous as i was driving on the 405 free way and i was unable to pull over with out power steering.

I pulled out of my driveway, turned the corner and my jeep completely shut down as i was driving. the message that came up told me to service my 4 wheel drive and every light on my dash lit up like a christmas tree. it would not start or do anything. had to have it towed back to my house and am now having to tow it to a dealer.

Tried to start my jeep it wouldn't start. i used the push button. i waited a few hrs and tried again. same issue. tried my remote start. started up. next day used the push start, started up no problem, on the highway (95) the truck was hesitating when going up an incline. next day push start won't work, the engine would turn over as usual but wouldn't start. remote start and it started up. son took it and put it on the diagnosis machine and said there weren't any codes. researching a hard starting problem i've read tons of posts very similar to what i have experienced. i called the dealer to make an appointment. asked could it possibly be the same issue that my truck was re called on already. he said might be r09 fuel relay recall, timp problem, (recall was a temporary solution to install a fuel pump harness bypass so that the fuel pump turns off) but that if it is, the dealer said they already replaced that and will not do again unless it is pd for, after they put the jeep on their diagnosis machine at $175.00 per hr. so after they completed the 9th recall i pick up my jeep with hopes that i could do more research. i also called jeep. the lady was very nice but they will do nothing except add my complaint to their system. i found out that many people had the same problem as i do! jeep/chrysler have put faulty timp in these cars and do not want to put a recall out on them. many cars with my model have had the same complaints. the faulty timp has the fuel pump running constantly which drains the battery it runs when the car is off. now if i 'try' to start the vehicle it smells like something is burning. after researching this problem i found the issue to be a timp problem and now am aware that i am not alone. there are hundreds if not more jeep owners that are having the same issue.

Faulty fuel pump relay and tipm. car will crank but not start. if the car starts it will stall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 jeep grand cherokee. while attempting to crank the vehicle with the push start button, the vehicle failed to start. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle was exhibiting the same failures as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and a case number was provided. the failure mileage was 133,000.

The 4wheel drive, check engine light and traction control light came on and the vehicle became unresponsive. vehicle would not register it was in park or turn off. had to pull off the side of the road as i was almost hit several times. sounds like the tcu may be an issue.

The car has issues starting up and when you try to start the car the brake become stiff and the car will not start but will crank. also as i was driving the car cuts off without warning or when i stop at the red light the car just cuts off and i have to put it in park turn the car off and wait and restart after 5 minutes and it starts with no issues

The damages directly caused by the alternator recall directly related to my 2013 jeep grand cherokee are being declined to be covered by dealership in a vacaville california. they are wanting to charge me $1000 for damages to my vehicle that were caused by alternator issue.

My 2013 jeep grand cherokee overland started to smoking from the alternator and burned up almost catching fire. there was a recall that they only looked at the alternator never replacing it. i want to know more about this recall, i want to be contacted in regards to this faulty part that almost caught my jeep on fire. i feel this part should have been replaced. the jeep was running stationary when it started whistling and making a bad noice. once i started to drive it to auto zone it got worse and started smoking, making a loud whistling sound and choking like it was going to die. when i pulled into auto zone it was smoking bad, smelt electric burning and it was all coming from the alternator. i had to have it towed 60 miles back home and another 12 miles to the dealership that next monday morning because this happened on a sunday when everything was closed. if it's a recall i want it replaced, tow paid for and the time it's been out of commission.

Vehicle was started and transmission placed in drive, then driven onto a city street accompanied by an unusual whining noise, lurching, and impaired acceleration. vehicle was limped into a parking lot, placed in park and shut off again, after which it would no longer crank. vehicle was towed to dealership where initially the starter was replaced. after starting the vehicle, the technician reported sparks and a strong burning smell from the alternator, which he declared unsafe to drive. the alternator was then replaced, after which the powertrain control module or pcm was also found to have failed and was replaced. the primary cause of the problem here is unclear, but the safety concern stems from the shorting alternator making the vehicle unsafe to drive. it seems likely that had the driver been unable to immediately pull over, the vehicle could have caught fire and/or completely shut down in traffic. as other, similar vehicles from this manufacturer have been recalled for weak alternator diodes failing catastrophically (p60 / nhtsa 14v-634), it seems reasonable to investigate whether this hazard exists in this and other similar vehicles also.

Check engine light would come on intermittently the last 5 months. took to the dealership and auto zone for a code reader a few times and they were unable to pinpoint the exact problem because the engine light would disappear or multiple codes would appear. the vehicle would at times seem to lose power especially going up hill whether it was on a city street or highway. i finally was able to get a true diagnostic test done on 6/15/19 when the engine light was still showing on my dashboard. they code reader gave p0128 so i ended up having to get my thermostat gauge replaced and total repairs with diagnostic were $309.15. i found it frustrating and unsafe that for 5 months the engine light would intermittently appear. after a trip out of town and drove a total of close to 1200 miles, the light stayed on. at this point, it is when i decided to take it in to the dealership before the engine light disappeared. i also noticed that the seatbelt warning light would not always alert if a passenger did not have theirs on. i tried to go back and select the seatbelt problem selection, but it would not allow me to.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 grand jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the power train control module and alternator failed. the contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v435000 (electrical system) and 17v572000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic). the contact did not receive any recall letters. the vehicle was towed to ganley chrysler dodge jeep ram (310 broadway ave, bedford, oh 44146, (440) 232-2121) where it was diagnosed that the battery caused the failures. the dealer wanted to charge the contact for both repairs. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 119,000.

The vehicle has stopped dead on at least 8 occasions over the last year. the car is running and moving but suddenly stops. no lights no motor noise no ability to steer off the road. it seems to occur at city speeds and streets never on a highway nothing has showed up on diagnostics and no one seems to be able to fix it. i am afraid to drive it. the jeep dealership says there is nothing wrong on diagnostics so there is nothing to fix. the dealerships head mechanic is not returning calls. i was researching and found that there may have been a recall on this issue with the same make and model including 2011 to 2014. mine is 2013. the dealership will not speak to this issue. i do not know what a takayuki recall is, i gave the last date this happend.

Vehicle is stationary and not on. when i sit in the vehicle and put my foot on the brake to press the start button the vehicle only half cranks and the electric only turns on. it takes a few tries after turning power off and opening the door until it will actually start fully.

I've been told that in the 2013 jeep grand cherokee's are known to have computer problems! my computer was just replaced 2 years ago and when i went to get my car serviced (oil change), i was told that the check engine light is reading codes that would suggest my computer is going out again.

Directional signals not working interior lights not working radio not working check engine light on abs warning light on all happened at once when starting car in subfreezing temperatures (2 deg).

Push start failed to turn on and off. car stalled when going from remote start to start. windshield wipers would not turn off even with car off and key removed from vehicle. display of mph and menu disappeared.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received a recall notice under nhtsa campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system). the contact called nyle maxwell pre-owned supercenter located at 13817 n research blvd, austin, tx 78750 where he was informed that the parts were not available. the contact had spoken with the manufacturer where he was provided with the same information as the dealer. the contact had experienced the failure where the vehicle would shut off without warning at various speeds intermittently. he had taken the vehicle to the same dealer prior where he was informed that they were unable to duplicate the matter or repair the vehicle. the failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Tl* the contact's parents own a 2013 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. the vehicle was restarted and driven to blake fulenwider chrysler, dodge, jeep located at (305 16th street, snyder, tx 79549), where it was determined that the fuel pump relay needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Car will crank but not start, dealer refuses to complete the recall for the fuel pump relay. recall ro9 is an expansion of 14v-530

While driving to work one night my jeep started making a whining sound. i thought it was the heater since it was 12 degrees outside that night. i leave for work, get about 6 miles down the road and my jeep starts failing. warning lights, battery, traction control, wipers slowly go across the windshield, lights dimming. i got to a safe spot to pull over but in the process of stopping my vehicle lost all functionaloty (no breaks, power steering, lights, all electronics gone) and couldnt stop. it finally stops and i'm left with a completely dead vehicle. 12am in freezing weather while 5 months pregnant. when my boyfriend arrived to get me, he noticed a strong burning smell coming from under the hood. at this time the vehicle had sat barely out of the road in the dead of night with no hazards possible to allow other drivers to see me. we find out that there is an alternator recall on my jeep and take it into the dealership as soon as scheduling allowed. before alternator blew my jeep had zero issues. they had my vehicle for 4 days and called to say my jeep was fixed (no loaner car offered). i go up the next day, they replaced the pcm and alternator, they say nothing else. i go to start my jeep and it cranks for about 30 seconds and starts. never happened before. i go back inside to the dealer who has said nothing the last 2 days about my vehicle not running properly and they tell me it is my crank shaft position sensor and was not covered under the recall. and they said they couldnt promise the car would make it home and it was my problem. unhappy with results we call chrysler and they tell the dealership to fix that. it does not fix the problem. the problems continue and chrysler is no longer willing to fix obvious damage from their alternator failure frying the electrical system. the dealership also told me to file a "fake" fire claim on my insurance. still unresolved.

The jeep has been locking on its own when in park, while still running or turned off with the keys still inside the vehicle. when i park, turn off the car, get out of the driver seat, close the driver door, it locked before i could open the rear door to get my two kids out!!!

Cranks and dosen't start

Below is the read out for a recall that is on a few other grand cherokee's. my vehicle stalled the other day when my wife was driving and the engine completely shut off and had to be restarted. the problem: the alternator may suddenly fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning and increasing the risk of a crash. the alternator also may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

Key remote with remote start. has issues with locating the remote key lock and unlock/remote start. refuses to start (push button) because it cannot locate key. fresh batteries and it will lock and unlock doors (while sitting in drivers seat) and it still can not locate the key in order to start. it has even flashed the "no key" warning while driving. i have had to pull over and start and stop the vehicle due to the fear of this vehicle shutting down while driving down the road. it does eventually locate the key and resume normal operation. this is happening every couple of days.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 20 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. also, while turning into a parking lot, the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. the contact noticed light smoke coming from the engine compartment. the vehicle was towed to cabrera auto (carr #2km 82.2 salida expreso hatillo, pr 2, 006,14, pr, (787) 333-8410), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

Vehicle will randomly not start. when attempting to start it will click like it is trying to turn over and does this multiple times, but will not start. this happens with using push button or key to start. this has happened 6 times in the past month. . once after starting the car with no issue and pulling out of driveway vehicle just died and would not restart. since this has started while vehicle is going over 40 mph it has a whining sound coming from the front end. vehicle was brought in to dealer who states that the battery, starter and alternator appear fine

Recently, car started giving me a hard time to start. when it finally turns on it would sputter and turn off after a few seconds. some lights flicker at times. battery is fine. the ignition is sparking but doesn't turn the car on. sometimes car turns on with no problem and i drive it for hours and sometimes it doesn't start at all or starts and turns off right away or after 10 seconds.

Please reference my previous complaint 11114071 and 11114079 for exact dates of failure for july 2018. the primary and secondary fuel pumps were both replaced and the jeep was returned to me on 8/4/18. i drove it on 8/5/18 once and then twice in the morning on 8/6/18. it sat in the parking lot at my work from 8:30 to 12:30 pm on 08/6/18. at 12:30 pm, the exact same symptoms of starting failure were happening. it started with turnover then immediately died. then turned on after a 2nd attempt. then at the restaurant i went to at approximately 12: 55 pm, the jeep completely failed to start. i have video recording of the failure and can produce that for reference. the vehicle is not starting and staying on consistently. the start results in immediately dying and then after a couple attempts like that, it eventually it just cranks and cranks until you shut off the vehicle. it's being towed a second time to the dealer service department. additionally, a dome light in the front of the vehicle wouldn't shut off since it was returned to me on 8/4/18. it was never a problem before 8/4/18. this is a tipm problem and it needs to be recalled. the 3rd picture i've uploaded is a screen shot from the video i have of the vehicle not starting but cranking and cranking. the other two are captioned. i have this video and can send it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced failures after it was repaired per nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v572000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic), 15v879000 (electrical system, interior lighting), and 15v115000 (electrical system). the dealer (stevens creek chrysler jeep dodge ram, 4100 stevens creek blvd, san jose, ca 95129, (408) 248-1800) performed the recall repairs. the contact felt that manufacturer campaign number: t-36 and nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system) regarding the alternator assembly failed to provide a permanent solution. the contact heard a ticking noise and a fire occurred within months of the dealer's recall repairs. while pulling into a parking area, there was a strong burning odor and smoke appeared under the hood. the contact parked and exited the vehicle. upon inspecting under the hood, the contact noticed flames near the alternator assembly. the fire extinguished on its own. afterwards, the vehicle was unable to be locked electronically, start up, and be driven. the vehicle was towed to huntington jeep chrysler dodge ram (1220 e jericho turnpike, huntington, ny 11743, (631) 673-0270), but they did not inspect the vehicle to determine if the failures were related to any of the recall campaigns. the vehicle was still at the dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was not available.

Headlights flicker on / off then right headlamp and /or both blackout while driving or stationary

Purchased this vehicle used for my 17 year old son approximately 4 months ago. on 7/20/18 the vehicle died as he was driving down the road. after testing the battery, we paid to replace it, but the new battery was only getting about 11v with the car running. therefore, we paid for a new alternator and have discovered the issue still continues. after researching, we discovered the recall from july 2017, many months prior to our purchasing the vehicle. i have called landers chrysler jeep dodge in benton, ar to schedule the service for the recall. the first appointment available is august 23rd. this is unacceptable. first, we are fortunate that our son wasn't hurt when the vehicle died while driving down the road. secondly, we have spent approximately $650 for replacement parts and still can't drive the vehicle. lastly, having to wait almost a month for the dealership to repair the recall issue is ridiculous. it is unreasonable to think someone can do without a vehicle for a month, especially when the issue is no fault of ours.

Tipm had to be replaced in 2013 jeep grand cherokee. car would not turn on. took 2 separate times to figure out what was wrong.

Nhtsa recall number: 15v-879 recall date: january 12, 2016 manufacturer recall number: r71 dropped my vehicle off to the manufacture dealer in columbia, sc a few months ago to do the three recalls on the vehicle. they informed me they did not have the parts to do the last recall for the sun visor. it has been 3 months since they did the recalls and order parts from the supplier for the last recall and still nothing has been done for that recall. the dealer said the parts are on back-order from the supplier and no update for restock from supplier. the recall states that the vehicle could have an electrical fire from the recall and this worries myself and my wife. i just feel that it is a little ridiculous that it is taking this long for parts.

Intermittently, vehicle will take a long time to start using the push-to-start button. sometimes the engine will stall seconds after the long start happens, after enough time to go into drive/reverse from being stationary. this has been dangerous as the vehicle is moving (pulling into traffic from parking spot, city street) when the engine stalls. at that time the only way to restart is to re-cycle the push-to-start button through the off/accessory/on. typically after the stall the vehicle will start right up. vehicle has had the tipm recall (#15v-115) performed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 jeep grand cherokee. while leaving the driveway, the vehicle hesitated as the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle stalled. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove approximately half a mile from her residence before the vehicle stalled again. the contact had the vehicle towed to a tow lot and called john elway's claremont chrysler dodge jeep ram at (909) 667-2586 (620 auto center dr., claremont, ca 91711). the contact was informed that an appointment could not be scheduled for at least another month for diagnostic testing and repairs. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system) as a possible cause of the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

I have called jeep dealership 3 times to get these two safety recalls fixed. each time they say one of the recall parts is not available and wait until we can do both at same time

Dash board lights, instrument panel, radio, etc, flickered then went dead. battery was dead and had to replaced. towed car to mechanic; battery was dead, alternater was toast, and on board computer had to be replaced. total cost to replace battery, alternator, computer and computer reprogramming was $1,700. i was in process of parking the car when this happened. was without the car for a week while being repaired.

Monday 5, june 2107 coming off highway 695 my jeep started shutting down, i pulled off to the side of the road my jeep shut everything off. i had my jeep towed to the local jeep service shop. next morning tate jeep told me that it would about two weeks, and about $2,500 to repair my jeep. i called a mechanic that i know, i told him what tate told me he had my jeep towed to him. he used the diagnostics tool to diagnose my jeep the mechanic told me that i needed to replace alternator, battery, starter, ecm it would take him about a week to compete all the needed work and about $1,100 estimate. i paid $1,800 and had to use 16 hours of vacation time from my job. tuesday, november 14, 2017. while talking with my mechanic and he said the battery keeps draining. later i started searching for you-tube clips, and then auto recalls popped-up. omg i entered my vin number and my jeep has 5 recalls! really five. as instructed i call the local jeep retailer and explain all of my issues that my jeep has been having and the nhtsa recalls. the service manager recommends for me to have my jeep towed to them but they couldn't look at it until next monday, november 20, 2017. so on that note i asked if they offer car rental? no they don't that's crazy the recalls are from your manufacturer.
