Intermittently the brake pedal will be very stiff when starting the vehicle and backing out. after a few miles it will ease up. but if a sudden stop is needed it is hard to push down again. other times it functions normally. i noticed this on the test drive of the vehicle but the dealer said they didn't see any issues i bought this car around march of 2019. this problem has been ongoing intermittently
The car has issues starting up and when you try to start the car the brake become stiff and the car will not start but will crank. also as i was driving the car cuts off without warning or when i stop at the red light the car just cuts off and i have to put it in park turn the car off and wait and restart after 5 minutes and it starts with no issues

I purchased a used 2013 jeep 2 years ago at novak motors in farmingdale, ny. they told me i needed to go to a jeep dealership to get the brake recall taken care of. i tried calling the closest jeep dealership to my work location at 642 w main street, riverhead, ny and spoke with martha? in the service department today and she said it would be several weeks before the next available appointment. when i asked her if i have warranty work, an open campaign that needed to be fixed, would i be able to get in sooner? the woman then replied to me that they were no longer accepting any new customers at all!
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced failures after it was repaired per nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v572000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic), 15v879000 (electrical system, interior lighting), and 15v115000 (electrical system). the dealer (stevens creek chrysler jeep dodge ram, 4100 stevens creek blvd, san jose, ca 95129, (408) 248-1800) performed the recall repairs. the contact felt that manufacturer campaign number: t-36 and nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system) regarding the alternator assembly failed to provide a permanent solution. the contact heard a ticking noise and a fire occurred within months of the dealer's recall repairs. while pulling into a parking area, there was a strong burning odor and smoke appeared under the hood. the contact parked and exited the vehicle. upon inspecting under the hood, the contact noticed flames near the alternator assembly. the fire extinguished on its own. afterwards, the vehicle was unable to be locked electronically, start up, and be driven. the vehicle was towed to huntington jeep chrysler dodge ram (1220 e jericho turnpike, huntington, ny 11743, (631) 673-0270), but they did not inspect the vehicle to determine if the failures were related to any of the recall campaigns. the vehicle was still at the dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was not available.

While driving my car in the city, i experienced a sudden engine shutdown, and entirely lost control over the car (steering, breaks etc.) the car was towed to chrysler's certified garage, where the malfunction was identified as a failure of the fuel pump relay (the same relay which was already been replaced, as part of recall r09). the garage also re-confirmed that this relay has been replaced under the recall, in 2015. the meaning of this failure demonstrates that practically, replacing the unit under recall r09 has not solved the problem and the risk is still there! i have reported this incident to fca in europe, and was responded that this failure "could happen in 5 years old car" and therefore, there is no safety issue that requires them to warn other owners. however, i have found on-line lots of similar complaints, most of them in the us, indicating that the failure of the replaced fuel relay is common, and that fca do not take responsibility. see the link below: http://www.carproblemzoo.com/jeep/grandcherokee/other-fuel-system-pump-problems.php i would like to emphasize that r09 (nhtsa safety issued id #15v115 https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaid=15v115#recalls360) refers to 5 years old cars, and the failure that i have experience with the same replaced fuel relay, had occurred only 3 years later, and therefore, fca response is irrational and wrong. since the event i avoid driving this car with my family nor do i let my children drive it. i simply don't trust the car anymore. please be advised that i live in israel and have an office in florida. i had to enter my fl address as there is no possibility for an international address. my international phone number is: +972544888755

Have tried 3 times to take the car to a jeep dealer and they are unable to do the recall repair due to lack of qualified mechanics to do the recall. one dealer gave me a confirmed appointment and after waiting 3 hours for my vehicle, they said they didn't have enough mechanics to repair it that day. i had to leave with the car in the same condition i brought it in. i cannot afford to loose any more work and they tell me they don't give loaner cars for recalls. i will never buy a jeep again. their dealers are very unreliable and don't honor their service appointments even when you are waiting 3 hours for the car. my vehicle's recalls are a safety concern. i still have to pay the bank my monthly installment even if the car is not safe because i must honor my contract with the bank. how about jeep dealers honoring their contracts with the factory.

Brake failure due to a faulty recall fix. attempted to apply the brakes and the pedal was hard and hurt my foot trying to stop the jeep. the brake booster recall was addressed in 2014 but the shield that was installed failed which led to the failure of the booster.
When pulling out of driveway, foot brake was applied but accelerator revved up and car lurched forward into traffic..barely avoided an accident. this is a serious safety issue. contacted original dealer who said this was not a recall item and was dismissive. i requested that my complaint be put on file.
After driving on the highway for about 10 mins, i was slowing down due to traffic ahead. when i went to apply the brakes, they felt hard to apply pressure and my car was not slowing down. i had to drive off the road to avoid hitting the car in front of me. after i was able to come to a stop, i was able to drive slowly off the highway to the off ramp i was near and to a nearby dealership. they informed me that my brake booster failed even though i had the brake booster recall performed on my vehicle previously. since i already had the recall performed, the replacement of the brake booster was not covered. if i never had brought my vehicle in for the recall, the replacement would have been covered. seems weird to reward people who don't bother to have the recalls performed on their vehicles. from the large number of similar complaints, it seems obvious that the previous recall didn't fix the underlying issue. luckily there was an open off-road area for me to safely swerve onto to prevent injury to myself and the cars in front of me.
On saturday 3/11/2017 i attempted to back my jeep down and out of my driveway. i immediately noticed that the brakes felt strange, and that as i depressed the pedal the jeep was not stopping. confused, i hit the e-brake to stop the jeep and attempted to pump the brake pedal several times to see if there was resistance. the pedal felt better, but i could hear a hising sound, like a vacuum leak. i went on line and saw that there was a recall for the brake system for my vehicle, which coincidentally was the same problem i had experienced. what caught my attention was that the recall mentioned water intrusion into the brake booster and the potential for freezing and reducing the braking effectiveness. i live in pittsburgh, pa, and for 3 days prior to my brake issue it had been rainy, and mild. friday night 3/10, the temperature dropped and saturday morning 3/11 it was 20 deg f. i cant help but think the temperature, and moisture played a role in this incident. i'm just glad it happened right away instead of once i got out into traffic. the jeep is currently at jeep in moon township, pa for troubleshooting. ...updated 04/11/17 *bf ..updated 06/06/17 *bf *as

In 2014 had a brake booster recall on my vehicle. all parts were replaced related to the brake booster in may of 2014. on the first below freezing temperature of the season in 2016 my brakes failed when trying to stop at an intersection i went 20 feet pass the stop sign until i was able to stop. luckily no other vehicles were at the intersection at this time. as i kept pumping the brakes while slowly continuing to drive the braking began to work. i had no other braking issues that day. the very next day with below freezing temperatures i was again unable to stop at the first intersection i approached again no other vehicles were at the intersection. i again continuously pumped the brakes while slowly driving and i immediately brought the vehicle to be serviced. my personal mechanic indicated the problem was with the brake booster. i contacted my dealer and after the dealers confirmation that the problem was the brake booster it has now been replaced again. i am extremely concerned that the parts used to replace the booster in the original recall are faulty parts therefore causing the same problem the recall was suppose to fix. i would like this known as i am sure i am not the only person who will have this issue with their brakes. *tr
On one of the first cold days of the year while driving in a parking lot trying to come to a stop for a yellow light out of the lot my pregnant wife suddenly noticed she had no braking capability in her 2013 jeep grand cherokee. luckily there was not much traffic and she was able to continue through the light then coast it to a slow enough speed to throw on the parking brake and put it into park. we had the vehicle towed to midas where they discovered the brake booster had failed. after researching the issue we found safety recall p14 / nhtsa 14v-154 which had previously recalled this part for this exact problem. the local jeep dealer informed us that our vehicle had accomplished this recall and the part was replaced june 21, 2014. little over 2 years later (dec 15, 2016), the brake booster has already failed again on our vehicle with only 52,058 miles. clearly the remedy for the initial recall did not solve the problem, so not only am i out ~700 dollars for the repair, but i don't know when the brakes will go out next. will it be on a rainy day when my wife is driving down a busy highway with my child in the car?
My jeep has stalled twice while i was making a left turn. both times it stalled without warning and i lost all power steering + power brakes. both times i had about 1/4 tank of gas. the first time i was able to restart my car right away. the 2nd time it took me a few tries to get it restarted. the dealership claims they can't find anything wrong with it. i've opened a case with jeep.
Dealer requires that i leave the vehicle at the dealer's repair shop for an entire day and that i pay them a rental fee for a loaner car during that period. i will not pay to have these manufacturer defects corrected. there are currently four (4) outstanding recall notices on this vehicle and they will not fix any of them without compensation.
I took my jeep into a local dealership april/16/2015 for recall 05p14182 or recall p14 ie..a brake booster shield. on may 15 after approx. 3000 miles my abs, fcw and traction light came on. i could not use my cruise returning to abq. and my brakes were sticking. i took it back to the dealer on 22may and they found that the master was leaking fluid into the brake booster and made mention of the p14 recall. they reperformed the recall and replaced the master and booster and after testing they found the same problem with the brakes. they ordered another master cyl. and after installing said the problem was fixed. on returning to abq on 15july/15 and less than 3000 miles later i encountered the same malfunction. back to the dealer on july 17 with the same diagnosis and repairs. less than 1000 miles on dec. 23/2015 the same malfunction and return to the dealer on 31dec. at this point the service advisor and the mechanic said they could redo the fix but it was going to happen again and it was a health hazard because of the possibility of catastrophic brake failure. i contacted chrysler about this problem and they said since it was repaired they could not do a vehicle replacement and to contact them when it happens again. i told them what the mechanic and advisor said about break failure and it was "we can not help you." i then wrote to their ncds and was told that since the vehicle was no longer in warranty i had no case. when this started the vehicle had 41759 miles and the last repair it had 48288. the jeep 2013 has a 50,000 five year warranty. i have all the repair invoices and the emails from chrysler in my files. please help

I have gotten two safety recalls from jeep. the first one is p14/nhtsa 14v-154 ( brake booster may prematurely corrode) and the second is p36/nhtsa 14v-391 ( sun visor vanity lamp may experience high resistance short). i have called several dealerships to try to get my car in for them to check and have either been told they don't have the part or are "too busy to service my car". i was even told at helfman dodge chrysler jeep and ram in houston (713)533-6100 that they couldn't service my car because they were too busy and under staffed and then the man said " i don't mean to be rude, but it's true". my service engine soon light also came on at one point and they said they couldn't take my car in. i am very frustrated with jeep's costumer service. i also called the dealership i bought my car from (auto nation) chrysler jeep and dodge in spring, texas three times and never received a phone call back after leaving three messages with the service operator. i was told to file a compliant on this website if the recalls were not taken care of within a reasonable time. thank you for your time. *tr
