Over the past year i have experienced several problems with the braking system ranging from a brake light on the dash to having either a rock hard brake pedal or a very soft pedal. the rock hard pedal happens without warning or any brake light on the dash and the only way to get rid of it is to pump the brakes. within the past few months i have had several instances of a soft pedal and when taken to the dealer they claim that everything is fine. once telling me the brake light was a loose master cylinder cap. last week as i was leaving work my brake pedal went soft and the brake light illuminated, the only brake power that i have is approximately 1" at the bottom of the pedal throw and it is all manual. i drove to the dealer and they had a tech drive my car and he diagnosed a bad brake booster. the dealer connect system was down so they said to go ahead and drive it home and they would call me with the eta on the parts. i never got that call and i had to call the dealer only to find out that the booster is on a national backorder with no eta. i then called chrysler and filed a claim/case with them. the vehicle is not safe to drive and i have expressed this with every person that i have talked to from the dealer to the reps at chrysler. no one is concerned that the vehicle no safe to drive, i was just told that they would keep in contact with me every 4-5 days. i have repeatedly asked for a loaner but the reps at chrysler just tell me that if i want one it would be out of my pocket and it's not their responsibility to provide loaners. today i got confirmation that the booster would be at the dealer on monday however the booster "installation kit" is back ordered with no eta. this is my only means of transportation to and from work and i have a job that requires me to be in various locations and it is not safe to drive this vehicle to my job. *tr

Received safety recall notice for brake booster on jeep grand cherokee's in late may. dealers near me still do not have parts to perform recall service. first called dealer in late may and again july 7 and they still said they are waiting for parts from chrysler. recall notice releases should have all parts available to perform recalls especially in case of potential brake failures due to malfunctions yet i can't get the issue corrected due to no parts available. *js
we received brake booster recall notice (p14/nhtsa 14v-154) back in july 2014. we immediately called dealer. they said they would order the part. now 6 months have passed. dealer reports that "they are working on customers who responded in june, 2014 and will get to us as chrysler releases more parts." six months seems like an unreasonably long time to wait for recall parts. *js

Recall p14 / nhtsa 14v-154 i received this recall notice approximately june 15th, and today, july 2, called my local dealership to take care of this recall and install the needed parts. i was told there are "no parts available yet for this recall". what? you send out a recall notice for a potentially dangerous break malfunction... and there are no parts available yet? the serviceman at martin swanty dodge/chrysler/jeep in kingman, arizona told me that another recall notice will be sent when the parts become available... really? i hope parts become available before an accident may occur! *tr
I received the brake booster recall notice a couple of months ago. i took my jeep to the dealership for an oil change and mentioned the recall so it could be inspected. upon leaving i was told they had to order parts which were on back order and would be a couple of months. i was under the impression that my vehicle was still safe to drive, but wednesday july 2nd the booster failed during rush hour at highway speeds. i was very lucky not to hit/injure/kill anyone as traffic slowed and i couldn't. i managed to get to the shoulder and coast to a stop, but what if i couldn't? of all things to fail on a vehicle the brakes shouldn't be one. if my vehicle wasn't safe to drive then i never should of been sent out of the dealer with it. i am now stuck in a rental while i wait for my vehicle to be repaired with no eta. i contacted jeep customer service, but have not received a response. *js

We received a recall for the brake booster. so we made an appointment in july and took it in to ferrario car sales in wysox pa. they told us they would call us in a month or two to get it fixed. in early october, i personally went to ferrario and asked about the recall. they told me they were still waiting on parts, indefinitely. i also asked them about the sun visor recall and was told they needed to see it but it would be the same result. now we have received a recall notice on the fuel pump relay. but why have these recalls if the dealerships will not fix your vehicles. i have received three different recall notices and two about the fuel pump relay. i have tried to have the recalled parts fixed on my vehicle and have yet to be successful in getting the dealership to repair a single recalled item. *tr

I was informed of recall from the local chicago news. called dealership few weeks later, because i had not received the recall notice via mail yet. they informed me that they had not been given notice about it either. week later received the notice in the mail. week later went to dealership to have work done and was informed they didn't have the parts, and would not have the parts until august of 2014. i went home and called chrysler and they said that the dealership should have the parts in two weeks. now three weeks later i just called the dealership and they still don't have the parts and again was told that they would not have the parts until august again. i called chrysler again and they only said that my case has been escalated and that i would be informed/called by dealer and/or chrysler when the dealer can do the work. what the blank, blank is going on????? *tr

We received an important safety recall letter about the brake booster on my wife's 2011 jeep grand cherokee and called our dealer, westgate chrysler in plainfield, in, on june 13, 2014, at 10:19 a.m. and were told it would be two(2) months more. today, october 31, 2014, at 8:38 a.m. we were told it was still on order. tomorrow will be the first day of november! i wanted to let you know, so hopefully you can address this issue with chrysler. if the brake may be compromised and may "cause a crash without warning" this is a serious issue and chrysler needs to do a much better job of servicing it. thank you, in advance, for your assistance. *tr

I have tried to start my car several times with just continuous cranking. i called two different jeep dealerships and they said they have never heard of this issue before. yesterday, i was driving down the street at 55 mph with my 5 month old in the car after daycare- and my car just shut off while driving and i almost crashed into the person in front of me!!!! very scary. i had to swerve to miss the person in front of me because the brakes and car were not working- just completely shut off. i finally got it started again and got to a safe location. i then had it towed. i did some research to find that this is a very common issue with 2011 jeep grand cherokees and chrysler refuses to do a recall on this. are they insane?!!! we could have been in a serious accident. if the car is not under warranty- the price to fix the issue is $1300+. i just purchased this car in november of 2013 because i thought it would be safe for me and my new baby. now i have to dish out $1300 because of a faulty part that chrysler refuses to fix? they are very aware of the tipm not performing on these models- please research all the forums that talk about this. there is already lawsuits pending. please advise on what to do at this point. i do not have this kind of money to fix a car with 39000 miles on it. i will never purchase a jeep or chrysler again. *tr

I received a recall notice for nhtsa 14v-154 notifying me of a potential problem with the brakes on my vehicle. i have called my dealer repeatedly in the over 3 months since i received the recall notice and have been told each time that the parts to perform the recall work are still unavailable. i know that jeep has been manufacturing and selling new 2014 grand cherokees during this time that have the part that is needed to perform the recall on my vehicle. how can you (the government) allow them to use the part that is needed for a safety recall on my vehicle on other new vehicles that they haven't sold yet and claim that the part needed to perform the recall on my vehicle isn't available? shouldn't they be required to use those parts to perform the recall on the vehicles that are already on the road and in use by consumers before they are allowed to use them in new vehicles that they haven't sold yet? *tr
