All warning lights came on and gauges shut down while driving on the highway. after getting off the highway, and it did it again then my vehicle completely shut down. i then restarted my car and the check engine light stayed on. i have filed a complaint in 2013 with your department and with chrysler. i again talked to chrysler today and they are telling me there's noting they can do to fix it at this time, because they don't have the parts available. i'm afraid that this can lead to a bigger problem if it shuts down while on the highway. what can i do to get this resolved? *tr

I received this recall this month however, this jeep had three instances of losing engine power by last november 2014. when we called the hotline then, after going to a dealship three times, noone at chrysler could or would help us so this vehicle was traded at a dealership at a substantially lower price . quite honestly, we wanted to keep it and not take on car payments so i think chrysler should pay us money. while i think vw lying about fuel and catalytic converters is wrong, i don't think that would have endangered my son's life like this did. three times he lost power which was unacceptable and after the way this was handled, there will be no more chrysler products for us.

I received a recall sept 2014. it has been going on 7 months and i can not get any information on the status of my recall of p41. i called the chrysler group recall center and that is a waste of time. the poorest service for a telephone answering service. i was on the phone 30 minutes and finally i hung up. i had to sit and listen to terrible noise (not music) and an announcement that all our agents are busy. i have worked all my life in business and i have never seen such poor service as i have received on this recall. my key switch is loose (because it has been hit so many times). at times i turn the key to start my car and it does not connect with the starter. i would like for someone who is responsible enough and cares about public service to call me and give me a date when my key switch will be replaced. i hope there is someone in the agency that has enough job interest to give this to a responsible employee. *tr

It has been over a year since the recall for the ignition switch... chrysler/fiat has yet to make the replacement part available to any of the 4-5 local dealers in northern ca that are within 50 miles of my home. they seem to be avoiding responsibility to correct the problem

I was driving home from work at night and my vehicle died on the railroad tracks crossing just at that moment there was a train approaching and i freaked out but was able to get the vehicle restarted. there continued to be issues with the vehicle shutting down but as i need to go to work i have no choice but to keep driving it. *tr

While in a line of cars approaching a stop sign i reached my turn at the sign. when i stopped the engine just died and all electrical components worked. after shifting into park and turning the key the engine started again. as with others i do not have anything attached to my key and also my knees are not able to hit the key. the road leading to the stop sign is somewhat rough and it is possible i hit the key with my hand. *tr

While turning right into a parking lot at low speed, my knee brushed the key chain/key and ignition turned off while still in drive. has happened once more in the last month in a similar circumstance, both luckily at low speed in empty parking lots. had to shift to park and restart engine to regain power/control. *tr

While driving dashboard lights will all come on similar to what happens when you start the car. other electronic components (radio, odometer) stop but engine continues to run. can steer and brake but difficult. no error messages received. this has continued to happen with no warning over the past 9 months. multiple mechanics have looked at the car but cannot identify a problem. it seems that many people have complained about similar problems. *tr

I have seen several reports of this so figured i would send a copy of this to you as well engine developed a strong miss and lack of power due to running on 7 cylinders. dealer determined that there were burnt valves plus significant sludging of the oil passages. dealer also suspected a crack in the head or block, allowing contamination of oil and coolant. considering the vehicle has run fine and been maintained properly over the last 14 months there is a chance the cracking may have been a defect that took until now to cause enough damage to become a problem. *tr

Started december 2013. when cold outside, jeep won't downshift. going about 40mph & jeep stays at 3,000rpm's (or higher). when at stop sign/red light & i try to go it revs to 3000rpm's but only goes about 10mph. when it does finally reach 30mph-40mph it won't down shift. i have almost been rear ended several times. taken to independent mechanic last year & put $700 into it. was fine all spring & summer but yesterday was the first day the temps dropped into the 30's & it has started all over again. i cannot afford to go through this all winter again & cannot afford to keep dumping money into this jeep. *tr

Car has on 2 separate occasions jumped from drive into neutral. contacted chrysler as they have a recall on jeep grand cherokees for this issue. however, they say that this vehicle wasn't included in recall as it was not manufactured at the same plant where the other vehicles were that mandated the recall. *tr

While driving jeep lost all power this has happened 4 times i took it back to dealer but they didn't find any thing this last time it was in a rear end accident so chrysler took it back to investigate the problem the dealer has had for a total of over 9 weeks and still don't have a answer for it i don't know what to do know can you help.

My pregnant wife has had this issue before with the car and we took it to the dealership without anyone being able to fix it. while driving between 15-60 mph the car completely shuts down. no power steering, brakes, or electrical. you have to throw it in neutral and start it back up. this has to be an electrical issue as other quirky things have been happening as well such as the headlights will flicker on and off and the volume and stations selectors on the steerwheel often do not work properly. this is an issue that jeep needs to identify and fix. very scary to be going 50-60 mph and lose control of your car going down the highway. over the past two days this has happened three times. i have done research online as well and there are plenty of other jeep owners that have this same issue. jeep needs to have a recall for this issue. i am shocked that this has not happened yet. *tr

While driving under normal road & weather conditions the vehicle began shutting off & on sometimes resulting in a complete stall that required restarting the engine after rolling onto the shoulder without any power! we received a recall notice that details their recommendation that it should be driven without only the key in the ignition as a temporary approach. the problem persist even under this precaution & has become worse! driver has to hold the key while driving when it starts to shut down to avoid the stall.

Vehicle stalls when coming to a stop occasionally. it is an automatic. put in park starts right up. 4.7 engine. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the esp, abs, check engine, and traction control indicators illuminated on the instrument panel intermittently. the failure occurred on three different occasions. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 54,000.

I was reversing and came to a complete stop to shift into drive, when i shifted into drive and let my foot off the brake, it killed the engine and completely shut it off. all electronics remained on. i then reapplied my foot on the brake and shifted into park and started the engine up again, shifted into drive and was able to drive. this continues to happen from time to time and not every time and no one can figure out the issue.

Vehicle stalls when driving at slow speeds engine shuts off completely, dealerships have mo fix for this issue. *tr

Pulling away from stop sign my vehicle lost power (stalled out). the lights for park, reverse, neutral, and drive all came on at one time. lost power for about 15 seconds then car starting moving again. this has happened a few times not just the one date listed here. this was the only time i was actually pulling out into traffic. could have caused a major wreck. sometimes it does it while driving down road and i have to pull over to turn car off. when i start it back again it runs fine for a while. ever since this has been happening my airbag light and engine light have been coming on and off all the time. about a year ago, i had to have a speed sensor changed on the transmission cause the car would not shift through gears cost me around $800 because it had to be taken to a transmission service center. are these problems all related? bought this car from a private seller (one owner) well taken care of. all maintenance was up to date when i purchased the car about 1 1\2 years ago. is there any recalls on any of the problems i listed here? *tr

I lose all lights, instruments, gauges on the dashboard. car still runs but i have no odometer, lights, air conditioning. i usually pull off the road and turn off the engine. once i restart it, it usually doesn't happen for awhile. the check engine light would come on for a day or two and then clear out. i've had it checked before and the codes come up as "communication error" but no one has been able to identify the exact error. has occurred intermittently since 2011 but has now reached the stage where the car won't start. *tr

I bought the jeep in feb. 2013 and shortly thereafter, while driving on the interstate, the car just shut itself off and everything went dead. this has happened about 2 dozen times since, sometimes going fast and sometimes going slow or pulling into an intersection. there doesn't seem to be a factor that causes it to happen and the mechanic cannot find anything wrong but it is very dangerous. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the engine was still idling when all of the warning and level gauges dropped to zero as several warning lights started to illuminate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who performed a diagnostic test but was unable to diagnose the failure. the failure recurred intermittently. the manufacturer was not notified of the issue. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 80,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warnings. also, the contact mentioned that the driver's side door handle became fractured and all of the remaining door handles were cracked. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the door panel needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure and the current mileage was 69,000.

While driving 55mph suddenly every dashboard warnings light, ignition, radio, headlights, etc. turns on and off. engine stalls for a couple of seconds each time this occurs. the same thing happened on a number of occasions. dealer says they never heard of this problem and could not duplicate this problem when the car was in the shop. the car was at the dealer's shop on two occasions. the first time they said they couldn't find the problem and the second time they did something to the computer. the car is doing the same thing and is going back to the dealer on 2/18/13. *tr

The grand cherokee stalled at a light on a hill. restarted it and but it back in drive but vehicle continued to roll back almost rolling into car behind. stalled 4 more times but in parking lots and non busy roads. took it back to dealer where they updated software on computer and said it was fixed. then stalled on a busy highway and was almost rear ended because vehicle stalled and wouldn't go into gear. then parked it in parking lot and it stalled in park. *tr

I purchased vehicle 2 weeks ago, november 115, 2012. over a period of several days, all lights on . instrument cluster light-up, gauges go crazy, loose power and ability to operate vehicle. very dangerous situation since i was on highway at highway speeds. also, headlights begin to flicker off-on at a high rate causing a dangerous situation. i have researched online and found numerous similar complaints for jeep. i went to my local jeep dealer today...no help. called jeep hotline, 800-992-1997, no help, claim they havent had a problem. this is a safety issue and jeep should stand behind their product. *tr

While driving on a highway, i noticed my car slowed down and even after applying the gas pedal, it didn't help. after pressing the brakes and pushing the gas pedal again, then it started accelerating. the engine light would blink and lately it stays on. the check engine light stays on and off but once i noticed that when i started the car again, the check engine light was off but i lost one front headlight. i was told by the dealership that i needed to replace a spark plug which cost me almost 300.00. now the check engine light is on again and i suspect as other owners have shared it in the forum that it's the ignition switch that's faulty. i just wish nhtsa would do something about this asap. the letter came the mail stating there is a recall on my car but nothing is being done to correct the problem. are you waiting for severe accidents to happen before you really force jeep to correct this issue??? do people have to lose their lives before you act on this problem? *tr

When driving my transmission would be stuck in a gear sometimes and other times it would shift to neutral while on city roads and highways. this would happen mostly when accelerating when the automatic transmission had to shift to the next gear. it wouldn't or would go to neutral so i had to shift the transmission back and forth from neutral to drive to catch a gear. i read about a recall back in 2013 but chrysler said it did not apply to my vehicle so i paid to get the problem fixed. since chrysler is currently having recall problems i'm curious to find out if this was something that wasn't reported.

Like others vehicle has stalled while at low speeds. at random times, took to my mechanic and he never could duplicate the problem. until, i took it there for an electrical problem and to check out the steering. while he was test driving the car, it stalled on him and still could never find the problem, my lights flicker on the inside, dash over head light all inside lights, at night when i have my lights on, till i turn them very low and still flickers but can't notice it as much, inside lights don't turn on at all when i try to switch them on as well. the air bag light has stayed and been on for a while, my mechanic ran a test on that as air bag is fine but light stays on. i know there where recalls so i called chrysler and they said my car does not qualify under any of the recalls. now my abs and esp/bas, traction control light are on. at first they came on while i was driving when went to slow down my breaks rattled, the lights came on then went off. now they have been on and won't turn off. and my cruise control stopped working as well same time. there seems to be nothing that comes up while running test and stuff. my car has 115756 miles on it and these problems keep happening. also when i start it the car ideals rough and when i'm stopped at a light tried and replaced parts and still does it. i love my jeep and would like to have these problems found out and fix i'm almost done paying it off and want to keep it but it scares me that it's could stall any moment randomly. *jb

I purchased this car in 8/2012 for my daughter to get to college. it is a 900 mile trip and would be used for local campus driving until her return in 4/2013. we bought the car with the hope of getting 3 years use out of it. on her initial trip down route 95 so. i received a call at 1 am from her in sc telling me the car shut down at 70 mph. the wheel locked up and she lost control of the car and fortunately with the help of her passenger forced the wheel to maneuver to the shoulder. thank god a tractor trailed was not behind her! i told her to wait and try to start the car. it started a half hour later. this episode continued until she arrived at school the next day. a 15 hour trip took 21 hours. she was frightened to death. we contacted the local chrysler dealer and they told us it was the valve body of the transmission which we replaced ($2100). as it turns out on the return trip the car transmission was over heating and the shutting down scenario continued. we brought it to a local chrysler dealer here in nj and they told us there was problem in the engine and that they would have to take it apart in order to find out what the problem was. i stopped right there. i found out through my local mechanic of 20 years that he read the bulletin on the engine problems from chrysler. it said the valves were not shutting down all the way thus creating carbon in the heads and stalling the engines. i need action from chrysler and it seems the dealerships don't care about safety. this is a major safety issue. we can't use the car that we paid $10,000 (plus $2100) for and now i have to get my daughter back to college and don't have a safe vehicle. how do i get chrysler to fix the problem? i can be contacted at my information below. While at highway speed, on the highway, vehicle stalled, lost power steering, acceleration ability, braking and lights. had to coast to the side of the road while narrowly avoiding other motorists at highway speed. this has occurred on several different occasions at speeds anywhere from 5-60 mph. very dangerous and frightening. this has been reported by thousands of other jeep owners and is eventually going to get people killed. *tr
