Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2007 Jeep Commander

I purchased in november 2012 and ever since with each rain storm my interior floods and it is starting to affect electronics. i have service 4wd system after n23 recall and vehicle won't shift into 4 lo. i have service park assist and tpms warning and had all four sensors replaced with warning recurring. i recently started losing all four door speakers intermittently and when they do work they sound horrible. display on radio is starting to go black and dim. i have lights on dash display flash on and off when they want. i have crazy rpm fluctuation at idle and recently transmission feels like it is trying to shift and rpm fluctuations when cruising at hwy speeds. i have bumped the key on multiple occasions and the vehicle is essentially shut off and still moving. most problems have just recently begun and haven't taken to dealer yet but after reading about many of the same problems and jeep not owning up to any of them, i don't have the money to chase phantom problems that the dealer can't recreate and change parts and hope it fixes the problem. i don't feel safe driving the vehicle and have to dry the vehicle out after every rain. i am about to have to write it off as a loss and buy a new vehicle which will not be a jeep. i guess hundreds of people will have to die for jeep to man up and admit they made a terrible unsafe vehicle and quit making their customers pay for their mistake. *tr

On multiple occasions our 2007 jeep commander with 5.7 liter v8 has stalled without warning. it has happened at idle, while slowing, while accelerating, and while driving at freeway speeds (60-70 mph). each time it has restarted after taking the transmission out of gear, turning the key to the off position, and restarting the engine. this is potentially very dangerous if it happens under the wrong circumstances since you, of course, unexpectedly lose power assist on both brakes and steering when the engine dies. the dealer claimed to have fixed it once, but it continued to stall. it has now been at the dealership for 3 weeks and neither they nor the chrysler engineers they have consulted claim to have any idea what is chrysler needs to make this right. *tr

This has happened to me. i am a mother, wife , daughter. the bad thing of this situation is that i had this replaced once before i had 31,505 miles on it and the ems electric transmission shift module had to be replaced . 4 yrs later mileage at 82,000 miles the same part has to be replaced. i have contacted chrysler and all they can say we are sorry there is nothing i can do for you. this part is no longer under warranty and informed that the part (68021352) was not included in a recall. this malfunctions has caused me to no longer feel safe in my car. i don't want to drive my car with my daughter in it. with out warning this has happened one to many times. this part should be recalled when i had the vehicle serviced back in 2008 i paid 100.00 now today when i had it repaired it cost 1000.00. funny isn't it that over 4 yrs this part has doubled in price. and the mechanic at chrysler says to me oh yeah i've seen this alot on this model. *tr

Problem started with vehicle losing power on acceleration from dead stop. it did that twice before the "check engine" light came on as i was pulling out into heavy traffic. immediately took it to garage which determined code were u0404 (implausible data received from esm), p0607 (ecu internal performance) and b1a28 (ecm mismatch with skm). dealers had two shifter/esm assemblies in stock. that tells me this is a common problem as i have read on the internet that it is. this vehicle is pampered and only driven about 5k per year, mostly when i got to our hunting camp up state. repair cost $1,130.99. chrysler needs to pony up with a recall and fix this issue without cost as well as reimburse those of us who have already paid to have the defect fixed. someone could be injured or killed as a result of this defect. *tr

Vehicle appeared to hesitate and eventually stalled loosing power. all instrumentation lights came on during this event. driver was able to coast to the side of the highway; place the car in park/neutral; and restart the engine. the same event has happened at least 4 other times since the first at varying speed (i.e. 35 to 65 mph) and there were no warning lights making this a very dangerous and unpredictable event. i took the vehicle to an authorized dealer and he stated that it could be the power control module; but was unsure. i'm very concerned with the safety of my family. the symptom of this problem (engine stall) is unpredictable and is a recipe for a serious and life threatening accident. i've reviewed hundreds of complaints reporting similar conditions. there needs to be a global recall on all 2007 jeep commanders reporting this problem to have this issues repaired before there is a loss of life resulting from this event. nhtsb please respond to this complaint and compel chrysler to issue a recall before it is too late and life threatening injury occurs. *tr

the service park assist light will come on and them all the gear indicators on instrument panel will light up and vehicle stall when driving and lose all power. this has happened multiple of times at different speeds. scan code only shows electronic shift module (esm) is bad. my wife was pulling onto the highway from a side road one of the times the vehicle stalled and was almost hit by several cars. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that while parked, the vehicle intermittently shifted into drive without the brake pedal being depressed and all the gear shift indicators illuminated. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

As of june 8th 2011 i bought my jeep used with approximately 42000 miles on it soon after it started having filling issues then for a while the issue ceased now about a month before date of stall listed above it started with the same filling issues except worse now causing it to not want to shift into gears as normal car would, kinda jerking in between shifts from different speeds and rpm increase and decrease. it has stalled on me twice now. the first time on the interstate at 70 mph with my 3 kids and pregnant wife in the car causing all power functions to be lost and we almost got ran over by a transfer truck trying to get to the shoulder of the road. i had it look at and the throttle body and intake cleaned of carbon deposited and now today june 12th 2012 it stalled again getting off the interstate heading to my work. still filling high and low and stalling and jerking between the natural shifting of the transmission. *tr

My 2007 jeep commander stalls during lengthy trips of 100 miles or more at speeds between 50 - 70 mph. each time it stalled i was on a major interstate and had to drift to the side of the highway to restart the vehicle. the first time it happened was early summer during a trip from georgia to louisiana and it did it again during a second trip in july. i thought my battery may have had a bad cell and was providing the needed power to the vehicle. after doing some research this evening online i see this is a big problem for other commander owners nationwide. i plan to take it to the dealer this week. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 32,000 and the current mileage was 37,000.

While driving car will for no reason loose power, you can press gas but car will not go faster than about 15-20 mph, then all of a sudden car jerks and regains power... a few months will go by and car will do again. when this first happened me and my family were on i*4 and car lost power on a road that is 65 mph. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that when driving at low speeds below 10 mph, the vehicle would suddenly stall. the failure occurred on multiple occasions. in addition, the contact indicated that the transmission over temperature warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who indicated that a faulty starter caused the failure. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and was informed that the vehicle was not included in the nhtsa campaign number: 08v20300 (power train). the failure mileage was 60,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to coast to the shoulder and restart the vehicle. the vehicle then functioned as normal. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, where they stated that the power train control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure and current mileages were 100,000. the vin was unavailable.

On multiple occasions my 2007 jeep commander with 4.7 liter v8 has stalled without warning. it has happened at idle, while slowing, while accelerating, and while driving at freeway speeds (60-70 mph). each time it has restarted after taking the transmission out of gear, turning the key to the off position, and restarting the engine. this is potentially very dangerous if it happens under the wrong circumstances since you, of course, unexpectedly lose power assist on both brakes and steering when the engine dies. *tr

As i was driving my commander, it started to sputter and shift gears erratically and then died. the engine light was on as i pulled over to the side of the road. after i turned the car off completely, i tried to restart the car to continue to work. as soon as i put the vehicle in gear, it stalled once again. on the third try, i was able to place my vehicle in gear and complete my drive to work but the engine light remained on. this same scenario has happened five times since the original incident. *js

While driving 70mph down the highway, my car suddenly stalled. i was forced to make an emergency stop on the shoulder of the highway. unlucky for me, where my car decided to stall was near the off ramp of the highway, under a bridge. it was quite a dangerous position to be in. the jeep dealership decided that it was a throttle positioning sensor. several months later and my car is randomly stalling again and the dealership does not understand why. i've had my shift assembly fully replaced as well as a new starter. i don't understand the issues that i am facing and why so little is known by the jeep dealership when this suv has been out for several years now. *tr

Driving at 70 mph on tollway and vehicle stalled and steering wheel column locked up. this happened two days ago and is occurring more often. it is extremely dangerous because the steering wheel column locks as you are driving. it has happened four more times. i now do not want to drive the vehicle because i fear for the safety of myself and my daughter. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and restarted. the failure recurred twenty times over a period of two years. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who could not duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

While driving 65 mph on the interstate, vehicle lost power. dash display message appeared "service park assist system" and vehicle gear display indicated the p r n d were all illuminated. the engine stayed running but would not respond to the gas pedal, decelerating. turned on hazard lights and pulled over, placed vehicle in park, shifted to drive, and continued as normal. a short time later, the check engine light came on. the problem is intermittent, and has happened many times since then and in many different driving situations. for example, after pulling into traffic on a highway, the vehicle would not accelerate, causing the traffic behind to nearly slam into us. if acceleration had been available as normal, this would not have been an issue. another example, the problem happened during heavy rush hour interstate traffic, causing the need to cross several lanes to reach a breakdown lane. it has happened immediately upon starting the vehicle and after the vehicle has been running normally for a long time. it is very unpredictable. the vehicle is dangerous and cannot be trusted to provide power or acceleration when it is needed. private shop checked the fault codes and replaced the transmission control module which did not fix the problem. internet research shows this exact problem with these exact symptoms is common and widespread in the 2007 jeep commander and appears to indicate a faulty electronic shifter module. chrysler response to the problem is hit and miss, some dealers acknowledging they have seen this before, others claiming they have never seen it and the problem is isolated and not widespread. there needs to be a safety recall on this dangerous issue before someone is hurt or killed, if they have not already. we used this vehicle to transport our children and now we can't even trust it to safely get us to the shop to have it repaired. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle went into limp mode. the contact stated that she shifted into neutral and then back to drive and the failure ceased. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the shift modular needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. the failure mileage was 38,000.

On several occasions my car has stalled and all gear boxes will light up with a message saying "service park assist" sometimes the car will beep and other times it won't. usually this happens when i am in motion driving but at times will also happen when first putting it into gear. the check engine light will also come on. i have tried taking it in several times but they can't do anything because it will stop doing it before i get to the shop. sometimes if i am stopped at a light the car will switch back and fourth from stalling and then back into gear without touching anything usually to make the car return to gear you have to pull over and turn the car off and back on it can take a couple times of doing this to make it correct. sometimes when it switches out of gear and stalls there will be a loud sound the car will jerk it sounds like something under the car is causing the problem. this has been an on going problem since i bought this car this is a very serious problem that could potentially cause serious injuries or death i have been lucky enough to be able to quickly pull over every time it has happened. this needs to be investigated and have a recall there are several complaints of the same problem all over the web. *tr

Recently experienced a ." service park assist system " error with total loss of forward momentum at about 15 mph. was able to pull over, place in park and continue going. however engine light is on, so headed to dealer monday. i'm greatly concerned if this happens at high speed and with family in the car. reading complaints, this is highly possible and there appears to be no real solution. help?!! *tr

12/5/2011- the jeep commander lost all power while driving, i could not go faster then 15 mph. i took it to the dealership and they informed me, that the pcm needed to be changed and there was no recall. there was a recall on the 2006 model but none on mine (2007). this is very dangerous because the car will just lose power. i am now afraid to drive this car. i called the jeep recall center and they were of no help and a waste of time. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that the transmission had to be replaced. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who advised the contact that the torque converter and gear exchange solenoid needed to be replaced because the vehicle would not shift past second gear nor accelerate over 20 mph. the contact stated the vehicle also could not be driven in reverse. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 58,000 and the current mileage was 58,500. updated 04/19/12*lj the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. jeep reimbursed the consumer $1000 of the $3200 he spent.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. while driving approximately 70 mph the vehicle suddenly stalled. the contact merged to the shoulder of the road and was able to restart the vehicle. the contact stated before the vehicle stalled it would briefly hesitate while accelerating. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. nhtsa recall campaign id number: 08v203000 (power train:automatic transmission:control module (tcm, pcm)) may be related to the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vin was not included in the recall. the approximate failure mileage was 50000.

The "prnd" gears lit up with boxes around them - the "service parking assist brake" came on as well.... i could not accelerate at all after the light turned green - had to turn on hazard lights and turn vehicle off and back on - worked fine for 10 minutes or so and then the check engine light came on, it has been on ever since. called the dealership about this they asked me to bring it in for diagnosing, but hesitant because of all the same kind of stories that i have read on this issue. going to have to give in though, this is a major safety concern of mine now... have not seen a recall for this even though someone can certainly have a devastating accident, not willing to take that chance... love my vehicle, but now i hate the aggravation that this is causing.. with all the horror stories with the same sort of issue you would think that jeep would take care of this, i guess that this is why they discontinued the commander? *tr

While driving the transmission failed to shift past 2nd gear. the cooling fan proceeded to remain stuck on high. turned the vehicle off and then back on and it began to run fine. when turned off again it was again stuck in 2nd gear and the cooling fan proceeded to remain stuck on high. took to dealer and they cannot duplicate the problem though they claim the pcm needs updated again(was just updated 1.5 yrs ago and we paid) and needs a shift control module? we have had this vehicle back to the dealer 6 times since purchased new for transmission problems with reprogramming and not shifting correctly. why is this vehicle not on the recall list like the 2006 pcm commander issue? *tr

At various times without warning we lose power to the motor. can not accelerate. engine sputters. happens from dead stop, idling, or without warning driving in city or highway traffic. been looked at by multiple mechanics who are stumped. check engine light is on and sometimes flashes plus almost all dashboard warning lights turn on sometimes. this happened when i first purchased the vehicle and they wound up changing the transmission. *tr

Right after purchasing this car in 10/2011 the jeep would randomly cut off or lose power, not sure if this an electrical issue. due to the randomness of the issue, they could not duplicate the problem when i brought in the car. after going back to the dealership the manger at the time wrote/promised that his establishment (reliable auto) would repair/fix the issue if it occurred again (within a year or 12,000 miles). after a years time the issue still continued, but now i cannot bring it in to be fixed w/out being charged. whenever i pushed down on the pedal to accelerate , the car could not accelerate past 25- 30 mph! this would occur while i was already in motion, or at a light. felt like the car was, "stalling" and the service park assist message would appear. i would try to shift the gear but nothing changed, the car still would not accelerate. this happened on multiple occasions. sometimes the next day the car would drive just fine, other times the problem, "fixed itself" within a few days. every time i took the car in they had a difficult time duplicating the problem. my check engine light would also illuminate but when checked no codes could be found. super frustrating and scary to deal w/ this. in july/aug 2013 the problem got worse when i was involved in an automobile accident. took the commander to chrysler/jeep and they were able to identify an electrical/shiftmodule problem. one of the reps. at jeep told me this been common w/ jeep commanders. before i had the commander, i owned a 2005 jeep grand cherokee, purchased brand new in 2005. great car but had some electrical issues, when on, my headlights would randomly start flashing. in my experience, jeeps look good but come w/ too many issues. Over the past few weeks while driving the vehicle will flash a warning saying service park assist system. when this happens the gear display on the dash prnd will all 4 get circled and flash and then as you are accelerating you can feel the vehicle lose speed. you can no longer accelerate the vehicle and have to coast off the road. once you stop and shift to park then back to drive it will reset and then allow you to accelerate. i was going 65 on the freeway when this happened last and this is a major safety issue. for about the past 30,000-40,000 k miles we have had issues with it shifting properly and every time we took it to the dealer they can never re create the issue. now we are receiving this warning and it actually stops accelerating on its own. it is happening more and more. we took it to the dealer since this warning now came on and they said they have never heard of it, they couldn't re create it, that it has nothing to do with the shifting and to turn off our park assist system so it doesn't happen. we are attempting a different dealer today but first thing they said is they never hear of this either. so comforting! *kb

This loud clunking noise and vibration on downshifting has been going on for a long time. happens when the vehicle is slowing down and the transmission is downshifting. a pronounced clunk two times as i slow down. i have taken the jeep to the dealer and various repair facilities and it can't be fixed. the jeep people claim they can't replicate the issue. i feel they are stonewalling me. i have spent a lot of money on this and it's unnerving especially when i have other people in the jeep. "why don't you get it fixed they ask"

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated the vehicle stalled while at a traffic stop. the vehicle was able to be restarted but was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 69,400.

While traveling in "drive" the vehicle would not accelerate or decelerate. on the dash board all the gear 123d had lit up squares around them. when i pressed the accelerator to the floor nothing happened. this can cause a crash and possibly kill somebody including my family. i ended up having to pull to the shoulder of the road. turn the vehicle off and restart it. when i did this everything worked normally. i have heard of problems like this before. i bought this vehicle used from a volkswagen dealer who told me the powertrain warranty was transferable. it is not. the vehicle only has 44000 miles on it and i don't understand why it is so unsafe. please help.. no work has been done on this vehicle due to lack of funds, a warranty and every time i call a jeep dealer and ask them what it is i get a different answer and i don't believe that they know what they are doing. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that the vehicle would not shift into gear, it suddenly stalled at 70 mph and the steering wheel locked up. the contact turned the vehicle off completely and restarted it. the failure seemed to correct itself after it was turned back on. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the shifter module was defective. the vehicle was being repaired at the contacts expense. the manufacturer was not notified. the current and failure mileage was 50,000.

I purchased this car in march of 07' or at least around that time, in late 07 beginning 08 my car started stalling for no reason i actually thought it was my knee hitting the key (i sit close but not that close) my husband kept thinking it was me as well, after several times of the car stalling we both realized it was the car doing it not my knee and we took straight to the dealer in jan of 09. i advised the dealer all gears light up and the car will loose power or at least feel like it is and have no gas, i must shut the car off and restart before i am able to pull back on to the road. i was advised by world auto group in tinton falls nj this was happening to allot of commanders and the piece that is needed to be replaced is in back order due to this problem, they had my car for about 2 to 3 weeks in jan of 09. per the invoice cause is 21010336 shiftier mechanism/shift lever housing, automatic transmission - replace console shift (c) 2013wcdne 1 68004143af prndll bez - gear selector fc: part # count (will fax invoice tomorrow) about a yr and half later the same problem is back, all gears light up while driving, recently i was coming home from work and was on the nj turnpike at 5 o'clock (rush hour) all gears lit up and i had to get over as quick as possible before a truck or car hit me from behind since the speed limit is 65 mh. this is not a joke this is a life treating issue.. i called world jeep as well as chrysler headquarters right away advising this is a serious problem and needs to be addressed. the dealer and chrysler can not advise why this life treating issue keeps happening to my car, they just want me to replace the same thing they did 1 1/2 yrs ago..

The engine has stalled on many occasions while driving on highway and other roads. this has occurred probably 20-30 times over the passed couple of years. occasionally it will stall for a few seconds and then kick back in, but more often i will have to let the vehicle slow down and coast to a stop in the breakdown lane if there is one. i then put on the flashers, put it in park, turn off the key, wait a few seconds and start the vehicle. this may not happen again for several months or it may happen the next day. this is extremely dangerous and scares my wife and myself half to death. this past weekend while in the passing lane this occurred on the interstate with lots of traffic and we were lucky that it did not result in an accident. researching online i have found that this is not uncommon with the jeep commander. there was a recall for this exact problem. (power train control module software) nhtsa campaign id # 08v203000, nhtsa action # ea07007. i called chrysler and was basically told that our vin# is not in the recall and they will not help. this is my wife's car but i usually do the driving. *tr

I purchased a 2007 jeep commander in 10/10 while driving it i have noticed it hesitates at times. while driving the car today 02/09/11 it would not accelerate above 40 while i was on an on ramp. lucky there was little traffic and i was able to pull over safely. i am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. i do not have warranty on it as i had bought it used. this need to be recalled and repaired by the dear. they know about this problem but they aren't doing any thing to fix it. foul!!! *tr

My 8 month pregnant wife was driving home from work and the prnd light all lit up at the same time. the dashboard read "service park assist brake" and the car quit accelerating and the lights turned off. luckily nobody was driving behind her and she was able to restart the car. if this happens while turning onto the road you could easily be hit from the side or from behind. we had a couple other incidents of loss of acceleration, but both times the car started accelerating again after 5 or 10 seconds. in every instance the prnd on the dashboard light up at the same time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact was driving approximately 20 mph approaching a traffic stop signal. while driving from the complete stop the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. upon restarting, the vehicle resumed normally. the identical failure recurred ten months later. in addition, the rear parking assist failed to function. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated the gear shift assist would need to be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. the failure mileage was unavailable.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. while driving various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly shut completely off. after restarting the engine, the vehicle would operate as normal. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the shifter gear module was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure continued. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 60,000.

My boyfriend and i were driving home from dinner and about half way home the car suddenly stopped accelerating and the speed dropped from 70 mph to 40 and kept slowing down. we had to pull over and turn the car off and then back on. the car has done this several times since and a light comes on that says "service park assist". i have read up on this year, make and model and have found that this is a very common issue that has not been dealt with! this is also a very dangerous issue. i also found that it has nothing to do with the "park assist" but rather the transmission in the truck and that many have failed well before 50,000 miles but shortly after jeep's 35,000 mile warranty. jeep did not cover my car because i bought it used which terminated the warranty because i was not the original owner. i am very disappointed - this is my first jeep - and i have wanted a jeep for years. the car still decelerates at times - i can be in traffic or pulling off from a stop or turning a corner and all of a sudden it is not shifting or accelerating. i can't afford a new car right now but am concerned about my family's safety. please read up on the many articles and comments from people about this problem and save lives!!! with so many complaints and close-call accidents i would think that since it is 2011 something would have been done by now!

I own a 2007 jeep commander it is always overheating. it has also stalled out an the lighting system started malfunctioning by cutting completely off. also it will say in the digital dash screen that the transmission is overheating when i start the vehicle. i have to cut the truck off immediately an when i crank it back up it is fine. *tr

Engine light comes on and engine stalls/stops; engine dies when auto remote started dealer states the pcm need a software update which is not covered under the dealer or extended warranty i am in fear for the safety of my family because this stalling has occurred more than once why can't manufacturers be held accountable for their defects as it appears they know about it but won't extend it to the 5.7l hemi models such as mine. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. while driving at low speeds, the vehicle stalled intermittently. the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure and made attempts to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified and was making an attempt to assist the contact with the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 65,000. updated 10/18/11*lj the consumer stated the vehicle has stalled over 12 times. it also bucks and will at times accelerate on its own. the vehicle also failed to start on 1st attempt. the vehicle would always re-start after it stalled. the consumer referenced nhtsa action # ea07007. update evoq 11/01/11 updated 3/30/12 *cn

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. while driving approximately 40 mph the vehicle stalled. the vehicle would not restart and it was towed to an authorized dealer where she was informed that there was a computer failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure recurred intermittently while driving and stopping. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer to be repaired. she also stated that when the vehicle stopped it would intermittently perform as if it were running out of fuel. the manufacturer was notified and she was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 08v203000, power train:automatic transmission:control module (tcm, pcm). the failure mileage was 33,000 and the current mileage was 54,000.

My service park assist light has been illuminating on and off for years. it will stall out of no where and nothing works. today i was going up a hill and the same thing happened. i was told by the dealer it is my electronic shift module. they also told me that this is very common, almost all of these jeeps have to have this repaired. *tr

After ignition the "service park assist system" warning comes up in the control panel, then the rest of the warning lights turn on, then after driving noticed that the speedometer was not working, then the vehicle would stall while driving, the accelerator does not respond, i was able to park on the side of the street, luckily it was not a heavy traffic street. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact was driving 25 mph when all of the instrument panel lights illuminated as the engine stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed that the shifter bezel needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was contacted but vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 42,586 and the current mileage was 73,285.

2007 jeep commander, started with "service park assist" light coming on along with the check engine light. took it in for service, they could not determine the problem so they reset the system. two days later the same thing began to happen again, along with the lights around the p n r d on the display coming on all together, the car also then began to not want to accelerate after a certain point. almost acting like it was not wanting to shift to the next gear. this happened for 8 months, still no service was done because they were unable to recreate the problem. it began to occur while driving and coming to a stop and starting to go forward again. causing problems crossing intersections or traffic. have now been told to replace the transmission control module, which we did. this did not fix the issue. in the last week were told to replace the electronic shift module.

2007 jeep commander v8 with hemi the vehicle stalls for no reason. i could be driving 45mph then for no reason all power to the vehicle fails. this has occurred 5 times in 1 week. i looked up recalls and see that the 2006 commander had a similar problem that prompted a recall of the powertrain control module (pcm). i contacted the dealerships and was told that my 2007 is not covered under the same recall, though the problem is the same. i believe that the pcm software needs to be reprogrammed. this failure may allow the engine to continue stalling resulting in a crash without warning. *tr
