Our 2007 jeep commander has had a recurring issue for over a year while in operation whether in motion or stationary, vehicle will shut off randomly. when you attempt to restart the vehicle, it starts right back up again. the random vehicle shutdowns take place in all driving conditions and regardless of uphill or downhill driving. brought the jeep commander to the jeep dealership and they replaced the ignition switch as part of a recall. this did not resolve the problem at all and the dealership was unable to figure out causes for random stalling even when the commander failed during testing with technicians. i replaced virtually every sensor i could imagine including, throttle position sensor and idle air control sensor, egr, map sensor, air intake sensor and the pcm. no luck, we have the same random stalling and the procedure is, restart the vehicle in neutral for recovery while in motion. the restart does not fail, but the random stalling continues sometimes five or six times on a 100 mile trip. this is dangerous and can get someone or their family killed.

Like countless other owners of this vehicle form years 2006-2007, the "transmission over temperature" light has been going on and off for years. i've spend over $1500 on repair for all things surrounding the transmission, only for the light to continue to come on. some people have even noted that they were stranded for hours due to this - it's obviously not just one person's experience with the car, and a quick glance online will show the depths of issues people are having with the transmission and the light on this vehicle.

First my gauge cluster just goes crazy parked or even while driving it. now i just drove it down the road and it is stuck in 4th gear will not go into any other gear!

The u-joints are worn and there is no replacement joints. it is a dealer item and need to get a new drive shaft for the front and rear on a 4x4 jeep commander.you notice the vibration on the steering wheel in different speeds due to the bad u-joints.

My 2007 jeep commander is stalling and shutting off while in park and while driving regardless of speed. it has been diagnosed at a jeep dealership and they say the fuel pump is bad though are unsure if that will fix the problem.

While in motion on an interstate, going about 70 mph the vehicle began to decelerate. the electrical warning panel flickered. when the accelerator pedal was depressed the vehicle failed to respond. the vehicle would only go 30 mph with accelerator pedal depressed completely. needing to get off of interstate, the vehicle continued to only go 30 mph on a city street. occasionally, the vehicle would shake, jerk, and the electrical warning panel would flicker. transmission over temp warning light then came on. took vehicle to a transmission repair shop. unable to put vehicle in reverse, vehicle will not respond. waiting to be inspected to determine the problem.

Bought the car 5 months ago. i started my car to go to work, everything started on except the car. took out the key and try to turn it back on, nothing. later on the day, my husband turn the car on and it came back on. the next day, the car wouldn't start, but again the radio, the lights, windshield wipers are on, except the car. *tr

After 6 hours of car resting (overnight) it would not start. the engine will not crank and will give the transmission over temp indication. the battery dcv is 12.30 plenty for an start. where i live there is no snow nor the outside temp was hot ( the incident happened early morning with a cool outside temp of 76 degree f). after couple attempts it crank and start where the alternator charge the battery maintaining a dcv 14 plus. after one minute of idling i turn it off and try again, where it give the same error. making the vehicle unreliable on the street. *tr

Vehicle loses power while driving dash lights all flash abs trips on and off

N 23 safety recall was done and after that the 4 wheel lo would not work and dashboard code for service was displayed. dealer states a national backlog on the 4 lo actuator is the problem and no timeline for the part is available. reading multiple threads on the internet this is a bigger problem than jeep is owning up to and the repair part is only at best a temporary fix. this should be addressed at a higher level,i will not buy another jeep product. *tr

This car looses power without warning... goes into neutral without warning... slows down without warning... i have complaints dated back to 2011... finally a recall... but the chrysler jeep rep said bc of the type of trac system i have it won't apply to me... i'm afraid to drive but have no other choice unless i walk! my vehicle is within the same yr as the recall and has the same problems... im filing a lawsuit!!! they won't be satisfied until someone is seriously injured! *tr

Vehicle keeps loosing power shifts into n state, pdrn are highlighted with boxes and you have to wiggle shifter to regain power. message is: "service park assist". not sure if this is the same issue that the latest recall (13v175000) listed is however, my jeep doesn't seem to fall in the manufactured date range so i am making a formal complaint since this is kind of low miles to have this kind of an issue with this vehicle and it is happening with my manufactured date vehicle. *jb

I purchasedmy 2007jeepcommander on august05,2013 with 117,578 miles on it. within a week, i was driving approx. 30 mphwheninoticedthevehiclefeelinglike it had a hard time accelerating, whenitslowed down completely but did not shut off. panicking, i kept pressingtheacceleratorandmovedtheshifter out of gear when the vehicle jerked and resumed back up to speed. a few days later the vehicle, while traveling at approximately 50 mph completely slowed down again but did not come to a complete stop and service park assist illuminated onthedashboardwithall the gears lit up at the same time as if saying the jeep was in all gears at the same time. within a couple of hours the check engine light came on. i brought the vehicle to a repair shop, were they scanned the code and told me it wasn't a "real code" probably a computer malfunction and it should turn off on its own, which it did, a day later. this has happened at least 8 different times throughout the 5 months of owning this vehicle. finally i looked onlinefor recalls, there is a power-train and electrical recall for the time my jeep was manufactured, explaining all the same troubles i've been having, however when i called chrysler customer service, i was advised i had a side airbag recall but nothing on power-train.when i told the representative that the warranty was for my vehicle in the time it was manufactured she told me it wasn't in the system and that if i wanted it fixed i would have to go to the dealership pay for it and keep my receipt and when chrysler came out with a recall for my jeep i could come forward. meanwhile, i'm driving around in a documented unsafe vehicle with my 18 month old in the back and i have to either wait for this car to cause an accident or enough people complain and they issue another recall. please help, i just want this vehicle to be safe for my children. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 13v175000 ( electrical system , power train ) and stated that the parts were not available for the repair. the manufacturer was not notified. the contact had not experienced a failure.

Jeep recently had the grand cherokee / commander recall for the final drive control module cracking ( n23/nhtsa 13v-175 ) after i had this recall performed on my commander, the 4wd system has failed multiple times, flashing "service 4wd system" on the dash. never had this problem prior to the recall. my jeep has been back to the dealer 3 times since and codes cleared or reflashed, and within a few weeks, the problem occurs again. something isn't right with the software in this fix. i don't feel as if the flaw has been completely fixed. i have another dealer appointment monday morning. upon googling this recall, i've found multiple people having the same problem. *tr

I have a 2007 jeep commander with a chronic stalling problem. within just a couple months of buying this used vehicle, it stalled for the first time on the new york thruway going 70 mph. since then, the vehicle chronically and randomly will stall. i have had it stall as much as 7 times in the space of going 12 miles! it will stall on the highway at 70 mph; or stopped at a stop sign; virtually anywhere anytime! this is extremely dangerous. recently, i had it stall on the highway; i got it restarted and drove to my exit. at the end of the exit ramp when the light turned green, i proceeded to attempt to cross a busy intersection and it died again!!! i can't trust this vehicle and am afraid to drive it much. we have taken it to the local jeep dealership many times without successfully fixing the problem. most recently, we left the commander at the dealership for a week and they thought they had it fixed so we picked it up and in just over 1 day it stalled again. i work only 6 miles from home and can't make it home from work without it stalling. we have put thousands ... and thousands of dollars in repairs replacing sensors (including map), exhaust pipe with catalytic converters, ignition system, ... and the list goes on. looking on the internet, there are many websites and many complaints by other 2007 jeep commander owners for my same stalling problem. the 2006 jeep commander has had recalls for stalling ... and this vehicle (2007 commander) should be recalled and fixed. i cannot stress strongly enough how hazardous this vehicle is. would you place your life ... your loved ones lives ... in a vehicle that chronically stalls anytime and anywhere without warning?? think about it! i am just looking for jeep to fix the problem their design has caused in this vehicle. *tr

I have had this issue for over a 1.5 years. i've only had the jeep for 2 years. it has progressively gotten worse. the vehicle jerks and putts, the engine light comes on eventually flashes and the car shuts off. chrysler jeep has not, to this day, been able to diagnose the problem even with chrysler engineers. they have kept my car for weeks at a time to no resolve. they have tried replacing multiple parts just to see if it works. on a few occasions i have almost been hit due to the vehicle stalling out. i have been told that chrysler corporate will no longer assist me with this case. *tr

The engine warning light was been on and off for the last 2 years. we have changed-out o2 sensors and other fixes but the problem persisted. the issue was discovered by the local jeep dealership: four of the bolts attaching the manifold onto the hemi 5.7l engine of our commander were broken. the bolts and exhaust manifold gasket are being replaced - $642 cost. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that while attempting to turn the vehicle, the ignition was turned to the on position and the power train failed. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure was persistent. the manufacturer was aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

While coasting at approx 40mph, vehicle shuts down, no dashboard lights, while rolling i shift into neutral and am able to re-start vehicle. currently at dealer. they can't find problem, no codes. on jeep forums this is sadly a popular topic. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. the contact stated that transmission fluid leaked onto the engine. the dealer stated that this was a known issue but there was no recall at this time and the vehicle had not been repaired. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 34,000. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated as all of the warning lamps illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v175000 (electrical system , power train). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 118,000 and the current mileage was 121,000.

I was getting on the highway and as soon as i got to about 30 it died. i has to quickly move over and stop and start again. this has happened several times before. just got off the phone with chrysler and they have a recall but not on my jeep. *tr

Car suddenly went into limp home mode and wouldn't go over 30 mph. check engine light came on. dealer replaced transmission shift module. warranty wouldn't cover it because it was external to the transmission. 6 weeks later it happened again, dealer said it was a bad ground. 1 year and 5 days later it happened again and took it to a different dealer and was told there was a firmware upgrade which they performed. 1 week later it happened again. this time on the freeway. error indicated improper gear ratio selected. *tr

Vehicle stalled in the middle of highway traffic. warning on dash states "service park assist system". *tr

Vehicle would not start. message on dash states "transmission over temp". *tr

The commander was sluggish on a trip to florida, when i would press the accelerator, it would hesitate and sputter. the month before this trip, i just had the transmission serviced at 60k to keep the power train warranty intact. so figured something was done incorrectly at the dealership and we would deal with it when we returned home. i wish we would have found a repair shop in fl to look into it as the jeep turned off on us going 74 mph on i-95. we almost got rear ended by a semi. we drove 65 the rest of the way home and it was one of the scariest moments of my life. i took it back to the dealership and they read the code and cleared the code like they did previously when it would do a hard downshift with a lovely clunk when coming to a stop. this fixed the issue until we were coming back from a four hour trip and the lurching forward when going up an incline started again. it cut off, the check engine light came on and stayed lit, as well as the park assist. like before we coasted to the side of the road, turned it off and restarted it. took it back to the dealership and was told it was the fuel sensor and shelled out $750 to get it fixed. i am scared to drive this suv and have never had this issue happen to any of the 20 cars we have previously owned. please look into why this is occurring because if someone dies due to being rear ended when it cuts off, a lawsuit will be imminent. thank you *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that while traveling at 55 mph, the check engine light illuminated then the vehicle lost acceleration power and stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle but it failed to exceed 30 mph. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be replicated. the failure and current mileages were 49,224.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled as the check engine and transmission position warning lights illuminated. the failure recurred continuously. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the cause of the failure was undetermined. the vehicle was not been repaired. the vin was unavailable. the failure and current mileage was 66,000.

My 2006 jeep commander v-6 is showing esp, bas codes as well as disabling back up assist, traction control stays off, the abs light, and some times it wont click into gear, drive or reverse. and it is miss firing on cylinder number four. also all the lights dim and flicker. *tr

My 2007 jeep commander vehicle had problems with idling and stalling, car would cutoff while driving between 35-60 miles and as well during idling. this had been an on going problem since 2010 though 2012 and then some time before. i officially for the record file this complaint understanding that many jeep owners had this same problem many times over although the chrysler corporation never did a recall regarding this problem pertaining to 2006-2008 jeep vehicles which was and is such a disservice to the consumers. *tr
