Engine light goes on. feels like car will stall or is shifting gears. code from mechanic is 507 idle speed, performance, higher then expect. *tr

Slowing down for stopping or making a turn the engine stops; the car dies. it has been restarting so far. i am afraid i am going to be killed and/or cause others to be killed. i have had the car checked out and they say everything checks out as ok. this cost me over $300. they changed the spark plugs but warned me this was not addressing the problem i was having. sure enough it is still dying on me. please help me. what is the difference in a drunk driver who knows before he takes that drink that he may kill someone and an auto dealer who ignore a problem and kills someone? i need to know what the issue is so i can get this repaired. *tr

I am writing to express my concern regarding an engine problem with my 2007 jeep commander, that causes the engine to stall, and all power to shut down and the engine to completely shut off. while at first this problem was simply an inconvenience, i soon learned how dangerous this problem actually is. i was on a highway and i went to pass another car, mid-pass my engine stalled and i lost all power with another car coming at me head-on. thankfully the other car was able to stop and we avoided a head-on collision at highway speed, but the outcome could have been very different. the stalling has been an ongoing issue with my jeep now for at least two years, with no resolution to the problem in sight. i have followed all suggestions like not having a key chain and only using he key in my ignition with no change in the frequency of the stalling. it seems a bit ridiculous that there has been no solution to this very dangerous problem. a case was opened by chrysler in january regarding my 2007 jeep commander stalling without warning. the stalling continues to be a very dangerous and unpredictable problem for me. in my last communication i was assured that my jeep would be fixed when the part became available, i have heard nothing since january. not only am i concerned about the safety of myself and others when i drive my car, i am also concerned about the additional stress this flaw in manufacturing is putting on the engine of my car. its extremely fortunate that no one has been seriously injured due to the stalling problem to date, but i fear it is just a matter of time until someones car stalls at the wrong moment and they are unable to avoid tragedy. im hoping someone can help we get resolution to this dangerous issue as chrysler has done nothing so far.

Stalls out while waiting at red lights stalls out on the highway for no reason and misfires multiple times through the drive daily. *tr

Jeep commander stalls randomly while driving. this is the 5th time in less than a week. when the vehicle stalls, the steering locks up and the car has to be put into park in order to restart it, and is difficult to restart when this happens. this is a major safety issue because the car is moving when it stalls. *tr

All lights light up and car loses all power. *tr

April 12 2012, on several occassions the car stalled, two times while stopped at a red light and two other times while turning a corner at about 15 mph, all four were in heavy traffic. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. while traveling 5 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the current and failure mileages were 43,000.

As i was driving my commander, it started to sputter and shift gears erratically and then died. the engine light was on as i pulled over to the side of the road. after i turned the car off completely, i tried to restart the car to continue to work. as soon as i put the vehicle in gear, it stalled once again. on the third try, i was able to place my vehicle in gear and complete my drive to work but the engine light remained on. this same scenario has happened five times since the original incident. *js

Vehicle has lost all power while driving, engine shuts down, no electrical power and had to coast to a stop. vehicle restarts after turning key to off and then restarting. this has happened twice now, the first time on feb. 20th, 2012 and yesterday mar.10th, 2012. *tr *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle started to hesitate and stalled. the contact mentioned that the check engine warning lamp was illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 56,000.

The "prnd" gears lit up with boxes around them - the "service parking assist brake" came on as well.... i could not accelerate at all after the light turned green - had to turn on hazard lights and turn vehicle off and back on - worked fine for 10 minutes or so and then the check engine light came on, it has been on ever since. called the dealership about this they asked me to bring it in for diagnosing, but hesitant because of all the same kind of stories that i have read on this issue. going to have to give in though, this is a major safety concern of mine now... have not seen a recall for this even though someone can certainly have a devastating accident, not willing to take that chance... love my vehicle, but now i hate the aggravation that this is causing.. with all the horror stories with the same sort of issue you would think that jeep would take care of this, i guess that this is why they discontinued the commander? *tr

Car stalls, dies and suffers a loss of control while decelerating. this has occurred 7 times in total now. complete loss of engine power, power brakes, and steering. unacceptable danger to my family and others on the road. *tr

Over the past few weeks while driving the vehicle will flash a warning saying service park assist system. when this happens the gear display on the dash prnd will all 4 get circled and flash and then as you are accelerating you can feel the vehicle lose speed. you can no longer accelerate the vehicle and have to coast off the road. once you stop and shift to park then back to drive it will reset and then allow you to accelerate. i was going 65 on the freeway when this happened last and this is a major safety issue. for about the past 30,000-40,000 k miles we have had issues with it shifting properly and every time we took it to the dealer they can never re create the issue. now we are receiving this warning and it actually stops accelerating on its own. it is happening more and more. we took it to the dealer since this warning now came on and they said they have never heard of it, they couldn't re create it, that it has nothing to do with the shifting and to turn off our park assist system so it doesn't happen. we are attempting a different dealer today but first thing they said is they never hear of this either. so comforting! *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. the failure was experienced numerous times and the vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions. the dealer performed a diagnostic, but was unable to locate a failure code. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. the vehicle was not further repaired. the failure mileage was 53,000 and the current mileage was 56,000.

Purchased this vehicle used about a year ago and has been having issues for about 5 months on about 20 different occasions, and seems to be worse in stop and go traffic or at a complete stop. while driving it will stall and act as if it is going to die. it seems to be worse at a complete stop but has been gradually doing more while driving. it has completely shut down three different times. usually, the check engine light comes on. has started doing it now at accelerated speeds. replaced spark plugs with no change. took to auto zone and read nothing on their computer. it seems others are having this same issue and i cant believe there has not been a recall for this since it would cause a safety issue. it does not seem that the problem has been diagnosed correctly yet from reading the other complaints and jeep should have to be made to look into this.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, the engine stalled. the vehicle was taken to a local shop where they were unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 47,700 and the current mileage was 48,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled. the failure was sporadic. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer three times but the dealer could not identify the problem. the dealer made updates to the computer and discovered a faulty wiring harness, which was replaced, but the failure persisted. the contact did not feel safe operating the vehicle due to the vehicle stalling at any given moment without warning. the failure mileage was 101,500.

The vehicle stalled while being driven the first time the same month it was purchased. took it to the dealer i bought it from who said they couldn't find a code and sent it back to me. it has stalled numerous other times in the 5 months my wife and i have been driving it including on interstate highways, mountain roads and in our neighborhood. just suddenly stops running. have to bring the vehicle to a stop. turn key to off position and restart. no problems re-starting. have taken it back to the dealer two more times with the same result (no code; no work; sent home). called chrysler who also said they couldn't help. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that when making a left or right turn while accelerating, the vehicle stalled. she had to shift into park and restart the vehicle. when the failure occurred the check engine would illuminate on the instrumental panel. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who advised her that they were unable to duplicate the failure and pin point what caused the vehicle to stall. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer advised her that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. the failure mileage was approximately 111,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the failure occurred intermittenly and the vehicle was towed to a dealer whenever the failure occurred. the dealer was able to restart the vehicle, but would not inform the contact how they were able to do so. the dealer stated that everything was fine with the vehicle. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.

The engine has stalled on many occasions while driving on highway and other roads. this has occurred probably 20-30 times over the passed couple of years. occasionally it will stall for a few seconds and then kick back in, but more often i will have to let the vehicle slow down and coast to a stop in the breakdown lane if there is one. i then put on the flashers, put it in park, turn off the key, wait a few seconds and start the vehicle. this may not happen again for several months or it may happen the next day. this is extremely dangerous and scares my wife and myself half to death. this past weekend while in the passing lane this occurred on the interstate with lots of traffic and we were lucky that it did not result in an accident. researching online i have found that this is not uncommon with the jeep commander. there was a recall for this exact problem. (power train control module software) nhtsa campaign id # 08v203000, nhtsa action # ea07007. i called chrysler and was basically told that our vin# is not in the recall and they will not help. this is my wife's car but i usually do the driving. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and all the doors locked. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the manufacturer was contacted who informed her that the vehicle was included on two recalls and referred her to the dealer. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer and not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 54,000.

The vehicle was purchased new october 2007, also the extended warranty 5year 60,000 was purchased at the same time. the major problems began with the transmission electronic system, the removed and replaced something inside. meanwhile the vehicle has been serviced and maintained by grava chrysler jeep since new the first time we complained and had it serviced was january 2011 and the last report was february 20,2012 and they still don't know what to fix..last year while driving home on interstate 93 speed approx 55 the vehicle lost power and we almost were struck by another vehicle, we had to come to a complete stop, place the vehicle in park to restart.would not restart in neutral. the tech and service manager said it should have, well it didn't. they replaced the ignition switch, it happened again, they replaced some module, it happened again, they changed the fuel pump, it happened again for the sixth (6) time.they kept it for 10 days and were not able to find the problem, no code ,no problem that was their answer.by the way they put over 500 miles on the vehicle this time. *tr

My 2007 jeep commander turns off o me when i'm at stop signs or slowing down without any warning. today i went in for an oil change and told the service advisor about the problem. he acted like that was the first time he has heard about the issue. he asked me how often it happens and i said a few times a week. he then said that the vehicle would have to be brought in while it's happening. really!!!! how am i suppose to take it in when it happens or before it happens! the vehicle doesn't warn me and it turns in right away as if nothing has ever happened! it is so frustrating!! i've had it for less than a year and we are already experiencing problems! i don't feel safe driving the vehicle with my baby! i've read all the complaints about the same issue!! this needs to be fixed! i think this vehicle is a lemon! *tr

My boyfriend and i were driving home from dinner and about half way home the car suddenly stopped accelerating and the speed dropped from 70 mph to 40 and kept slowing down. we had to pull over and turn the car off and then back on. the car has done this several times since and a light comes on that says "service park assist". i have read up on this year, make and model and have found that this is a very common issue that has not been dealt with! this is also a very dangerous issue. i also found that it has nothing to do with the "park assist" but rather the transmission in the truck and that many have failed well before 50,000 miles but shortly after jeep's 35,000 mile warranty. jeep did not cover my car because i bought it used which terminated the warranty because i was not the original owner. i am very disappointed - this is my first jeep - and i have wanted a jeep for years. the car still decelerates at times - i can be in traffic or pulling off from a stop or turning a corner and all of a sudden it is not shifting or accelerating. i can't afford a new car right now but am concerned about my family's safety. please read up on the many articles and comments from people about this problem and save lives!!! with so many complaints and close-call accidents i would think that since it is 2011 something would have been done by now!

While driving at slow speed such as slowing to stop or taking off from a dead stop the truck stalls and has to be put in park and restarted. this happens quite frequently, and when driving on interstates when trying to accelerate the truck also stalls or has a power failure where it almost feels like it its a governed speed and the engine won't let you speed up. the computer now is having issues saying that the engine coolant is too cold, thought the thermostat is working fine as well as the gauges inside the truck. the computer is also giving a code of an error with the barometric pressure.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander overland. the contact stated the vehicle stalled every time she came to a stop while her foot was depressing the brake pedal. lately, while driving 70 mph the vehicle would stall in the middle of the road. the vehicle was taken to two dealers and other mechanics several times and they could not duplicate the failure. the dealer repaired the power train module but the problem continued to exist. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 74,000.
