Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the key had to be turned in the ignition numerous times before it finally started. also, the electronic throttle warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system); however, the repair did not correct the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 149,725.

Mid winter of 2018 i drove my jeep home and parked it on a flat landing and when i went out to start it 2 days after parking it nothing happened. i had to have it towed because the problem was with my starter. now it is october 2019 and i was waiting at a red light in the middle of a busy city intersection and the jeep just shuts off. after i couldn't get it started up again we found that it was once again the starter. this happened 2 weeks ago and since then i had the starter rebuilt and put back in. this morning it did the exact same thing at the exact same red light. on top of this it has been overheating at random times while driving, it does leak antifreeze but it has overheated even when the antifreeze was full. also, over the summer i parked at s pizza shop in my hometown and left it running while i picked up my order. when i returned to the jeep it was stuck in park and needed the shifter replaced. the components that attached the shifter to the actual gears were destroyed. i've had this jeep for 1.5 years and it has left me sit now on 4 separate occasions.

While driving straight in the fast lane on the highway at around 65 mph, my vehicle suddenly shut off with no warning and i noticed that all dashboard warning lights came on. fortunately, there was a fast-lane shoulder that i was able to steer it on, or i might have been killed by oncoming traffic. vehicle would not re-start so i disconnected the negative battery cable, waited a few minutes and re-connected it and then the vehicle re-started but ran very rough. i proceeded along the shoulder to try and get off the highway, but the vehicle shut down again. i repeated the same process and it again re-started and i managed to drive home on back roads at 40 mph. this has happened on at least three other occasions, but the incidents occurred many months apart, which made me think it was a one-off situation. i have since researched this issue on the internet and have learned that many other people have had this happen to them. i think this is a tragedy in the making if chrysler does not address this deficiency by issuing an immediate recall. i also request that a chrysler dealership inspect my vehicle at no cost to me. your prompt response to this urgent matter will be greatly appreciated.

Air bag indicator light on . ignition switch problem prior relates power mechanical devices, windows, sunroof, seats which present a safety hazard.. loss of functionality of these systems increases safety and injury risk. chrysler worked on the ignition switch and after had issues with windows and airbag.

When trying to crank the car the ignition is very slow and the lights dim. it is trying to turnover but cannot. after a few attempts it starts smelling like something electrical is going on. we attempted to jump it off but it performs the same even when attached to jumper cables. so it is not the battery which was changed 2 years ago and the starter was replaced 2 years ago as well. this has been happening for a while periodically but it always eventually started and never smelled like something electrical was burning. the vehicle was parked in a parking spot in lexington for only a few minutes to run into the retrieve some documents and when returning it just would not start. once i got home i started looking up common issues with electrical and noticed that there had been several recalls that might apply to my issue. i plan to call our local chrysler dealer as soon as they open and see if they can confirm and pick it up for repairs that should be covered under the warranty.

While driving at normal speed(s) 35-50mph all dash lights came on in sequence and then the engine stalled. luckily this was at 230 am and near a closed business parking lot and i was able to coast off the road way. within a few seconds of the vehicle motion stopping the lights, radio and all electric died and would not start. this is a serious safety issue and i guess jeep is waiting for someone to die and have their family sue them. i have seen several complaints on 2006 commanders doing the same thing. i bought mine 12/24/2018 and i am the third owner. first owner was a leasee and put 22k miles on it. second owner had the vehicle from 2010 to 12/15/2018 and it had 80,500 miles when i bought it. i have only put less than 1000 miles on it and i am having serious concerns on keeping it. 3.7v6/auto 4x4 sport

Power door lock fuse blows due to short in wire where it cought on fire and burnt hole in carpet in the back seat

Transmission over temperature warning. won't start. starter does not engage. let sit for many hours, then will start.

2007 jeep commander with 112,000 est miles, bought used in ak 2016. a week after i bought it i kept having o2 sensor codes pop up. i have had all sensors replaced more than once and numerous other parts with the latest being the catalytic converter. i have spent several thousands of dollars trying to solve this issue. today was my breaking point, i was driving on i-24 to nashville to take my son to an appointment at vanderbilt. it was raining this morning, all of a sudden the red lighting bolt and other lights came on. my jeep lost power, the brakes didn't work, the steering locked up and i was scared i was going to get hit. i put my hazards on and was able to get across 2 lanes of traffic to the shoulder. i shut the jeep off and turned it back on and it was normal again with just the check engine light on. i was so scared to drive back to clarksville, fearing that it would happen again. i saw that i am not the only one who has had this issue. i called corporate and they said there is nothing really they can do. i said what is it going take, someone, dying or getting into a wreck?? i am disappointed in how this has been handled. my latest carfax shows that this jeep has had the same issues over and over, with nothing really getting resolved.

While driving at 60 mph on the highway, my jeep has jolted like it had lost power for a brief moment. the jolt was severe enough that it made my arms ache from it. this worries me as i have read many complaints about complete stalls at high speeds and this could cause a severe accident. my jeep has 150,000 miles on it. this issue needs to be investigated before there is a fatality.

Air bag came on and doesn't go off, engine light is on constantly even after vehicle is repaired. vehicle shuts off while you are driving. seat belts are broken woke stay after being repaired. windows get stck.

Under heavy rain, the vehicle leaks on the inside to the point of a big puddle in the floor of the driver side while stationary. this has also caused a problem with my cruise control and on-screen nav it now goes on and off displaying the jeep logo as if the car was just starting up and i am in the middle of driving.

Our 2007 jeep commander has had a recurring issue for over a year while in operation whether in motion or stationary, vehicle will shut off randomly. when you attempt to restart the vehicle, it starts right back up again. the random vehicle shutdowns take place in all driving conditions and regardless of uphill or downhill driving. brought the jeep commander to the jeep dealership and they replaced the ignition switch as part of a recall. this did not resolve the problem at all and the dealership was unable to figure out causes for random stalling even when the commander failed during testing with technicians. i replaced virtually every sensor i could imagine including, throttle position sensor and idle air control sensor, egr, map sensor, air intake sensor and the pcm. no luck, we have the same random stalling and the procedure is, restart the vehicle in neutral for recovery while in motion. the restart does not fail, but the random stalling continues sometimes five or six times on a 100 mile trip. this is dangerous and can get someone or their family killed.

2007 jeep commander, the vehicle was parked and when i came to turn it on, the ignition switch turns but the engine does not turn on. i had a recall letter about this issue a couple years ago and had it replaced at the dealership. however, it seems like this issue has not been fixed. please solve it, as this causes a lot of problems and frustration to chrysler's customers.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. while driving 75 mph, the vehicle lost power and stalled. there were no warning indicators illuminated during the failure. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 136,000.

Our car won't start

Vehicle shutting off when stalling or at a stop driving down a city street with vehicles behind me. idleing high when turning on or driving. just had some thing fixed and issue still not resolved seems to be ecm/pcm possibly. some sort of water entrance unsure where from had windshield reinstalled and i still get puddles on my driver and passenger feet. back set belts keep braking was told this is a defect when seats are layed down seat buckles break and need to be replaced which is a safety issue with my children since i have 4 and need these to be functional they have been replaced 3 times and am now told it's a defect.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. while the contact's husband was driving 65 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate. the driver was able to park on the side of the road before the vehicle seized. the contact waited an hour before restarting the vehicle and driving home. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic multiple times, but they were unable to duplicate the failure the first time. the second time, the dealer diagnosed that an unknown sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but continued to experience the failure. the contact called champion chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 435 e pass rd, gulfport, ms 39507, (228) 896-1515) and was informed that the part would not be available for one month. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system). the part was not available for the repair. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 188,507. parts distribution disconnect.

I have own this car for 5 years and it did shut down on me due to i did hit the ingestion switch with my knee as we were going down the interstate. a couple years go after that with no issue. now my 17 year old girl drives it now with no issue. got recall littler ignition switch replacement. got switch replaced and one for a re-flash on the power train. now after that it has stalled out on my daughter 2 times a mouth apart when stop to make a turn going to school. took to the dealer and they said it was a faulty front control module and only going off of stored codes b211e & b211a and don't know how many counts or how old they are. the service writer could not tell me that is a fix and the tech said that is what it need . i took the car home and i can not find these codes anywhere online. i did find a lot of complaints of this same thing and the fcm has been replaced with many other sensors and they still have the same issue. so that my have saved me over $500 that may or may not fix it.. i the parent am driving the car now till i can this figured out. if there are updated resolving this issue with the same problem please advise. don't what to just throw away money on parts that is not on me but more of a safety issue on the jeep company end that needs to fix this. thanks for your time.

The commander has an electrical defect that prevents the car from starting. we have traced it back to the alternator wire. it's the design of the wiring that's causing a defect. when i research it this is a problem that most commander owner's deal with. there's no way to fix the problem. jeep fiat chrysler have never addressed this problem. we've replaced the battery and alternator twice now in the last 2 years.

All light flash off and on randomly sometimes leaving the gauges and ac not working then return and leave the eas and traction control light and check engine light on. pulling the code reveal a u1403 and u1411 code. when bumps are hit or the ac is on the lights flash and sometime wiggling the ignition switch stops the flashing other times it is random and sometime more sporadic, when the vehicle is experiencing the problem the car ignition can be shut off and the restarted sometimes it stops the trouble..

While highway driving, the vehicle shut off at 70mph in middle lane. there were no warning lights or chimes that preceded the event. after pulling over and putting the vehicle in park, the jeep started normally. the key ring only had the jeep key and the valet key, and i far away from the dashboard.

tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. the contact stated after having nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system) remedied at the darcars dealer, the ignition key battery experienced an excessive loss of power. the contact stated that due to the failure with the key they made an additional copy and was able to start the vehicle without it being programmed in to the vehicle. the contact felt that the recall remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

For a number of years now i intermittently receive a "transmission over temp" message in my dash and the car won't start for about 24 hours later. this usually happens after a good rain. i will drive to somewhere and then park for about 10 minutes. when i try to start the vehicle, it doesn't start until about 24 hours later. i replaced the battery and still have the same issue. auto shops were not able to fix this issue and no one seems to have a clue how to fix this. right now the vehicle is unreliable as if i go somewhere there is a risk that i will be stranded.

My 2007 jeep commander is stalling and shutting off while in park and while driving regardless of speed. it has been diagnosed at a jeep dealership and they say the fuel pump is bad though are unsure if that will fix the problem.

The battery light came on close to my home i continue to drive and when i open the hood the alternator was smoking and smelled like it was burning it was so hard it almost caught on fire there was no flame but there was lots of smoke

2007 commander with 5.7 car has loss all electrical power several times while driving at different speeds, on highways on city streets. the center display goes blank, dash lights go off, the engine sounds to be idling when it loses power, but there is no throttle response, then it will regain electrical after coasting down the road. it has also loss power at a stop light and the engine died it would not power anything on, the engine would not crank, after a couple of minutes cycling the ignition the dash lights turned on and was able to start it. just recently loss all power while driving every light on the dash illuminated for a couple seconds went off and back on, everything went back to normal, the radio just would not turn on it was just a black screen eventually it started to function.

The jeep will not start and left us stranded 30 miles from home. i had to leave it overnight. all of the lights on the ic light up and it makes a clicking sound but won't turn over. initially i thought it was a bad starter but after researching it that night i realized it could be a number of things that others are experiencing with their commanders. i was able to get it home the next day by quickly turning the key from the "off" position to "start" rapidly. it started after 15-20 tries of this movement. now that it is home, i was able to start it once each day since the initial issue. but now, i am unable to get it started again. could be the wcm, starter harness, sentry key module, etc. regardless, it is a widespread issue amongst jeep commander owners and something i think jeep needs to be made aware of. i understand this isn't specifically a safety issue but it could be if my wife and 11 month old are left stranded somewhere because the jeep decides it doesn't want to start.

Driving down the road on rt3 heading west towards west chester pa passing by providence road i was going about 55mph when my jeep shut off and i lost power to the engine (this was very scary). i was able to pull off the road and eventually got my jeep started again. about 6 months later i was stopped at a traffic light and again my jeep shut off. i was able to restart it again a few seconds later. i believe this is an ignition switch problem. *tr

While driving my 2007 jeep commander, it will shut off. other times the lights will flicker off and car seems to stall. this problem happens without any warning. it is very scary to be driving on the interstate and the car just stops!!! i have four children that i drive around, so this can not happen! i have read where there have been many complaints about this and nothing has been done. that is unacceptable because lives are at risk. i'm taking the vehicle in for the ignition switch recall, but i have read where that has not fixed the issue i am having.

1st time: lost all power while in motion at slow rate of speed after my knee slightly bumped the key ring hanging under the ignition (knee did not touch actual car key). 2nd time: lost all power while traveling at 80mph (speed limit in utah) on interstate 15 in passing lane after knee slightly grazed the lower part of the key chains (knee did not touch actual key). was able to restart engine quickly in both cases and was lucky enough to be on straight section of roadway at the time.

Car won't start when turn key to start. all control panel light and audio works. when turn key back to off position transmission over temp message appears. car had been sitting in garage for a couple of days. this third or fourth time this has occurred.
