My jeep keeps cutting off while driving i'm the middle of traffic. i have complained about the problem and nothing has been done about it. it's unsafe. and radio cuts on and off, change the station and heat and a/c on its own.
At about 1200 miles, dashboard lit up, car stalled and needed to be towed. dealer changed battery. bringing home form dealer, happened again. dealer had it two weeks. picked it up and at 1600 miles, happened again. dealer had it three weeks and changed out computer. picked it up and next morning dashboard lit up. stopped car before it could stall, and had it towed to dealer. after two weeks i picked it up. i don't want to drive it. 4 times in for the same issue, and over 45 days in the dealer. dashboard warning lights: airbag, braking, park assist, electronic stability, battery, lane warning, etc. if there are warning lights on the dash, it lit up like a christmas tree. all issued happened while the auto was in motion
The car completely shut down while driving at night on a snowy mountain road. all lights and everything completely shut off. i was able to stop in the opposing lane of traffic and restart the vehicle before being struck. the vehicle electrical system continued to flash into warning and limp mode several times but we were 100's of miles from a dealership. we continued with the problem until we were able to limp home and back to the dealership. the vehicle also revved up to 4000 rpm while my foot was on the brake and not touching the accelerator. the low tire lights kept rotating to different tires as i drove with none being low. the dealership said it was a vacuum line and they drove it for 10 miles without result. this vehicle almost killed us on several occasions.
This reports documents a second instance of power failure. on friday, jan 4 faii was driving on interstate hwy 287. the dashboard went dark at first and then started flickering. car then stalled while driving. the gas pedal no longer worked. the power steering failed. i coasted to the shoulder. when in park the dashboard came back on with battery, engine light, and p with circle and exclamation mark. a message came on display to service transmission. i had to be towed to the car dealership. at the dealership i was told the repair work wouldn't start until monday. on monday afternoon, i was told the battery connection was poor and they ordered a part. i also received a recall email that states the transmission needs to be fixed. i feel this vehicle is life threatening at this point. many cherokees have received 5 recalls and i only have one. please look into the cherokee limited 4 x 4.
The first time i had a problem with this car was a few days after i received it in dec 2018. power steering went off while i was driving it. the dealership was closed so i did not bring it into the dealer until two days ago. since the car started up and showed no battery icon or display message, they could not find out what happened. they tested for codes but to no avail. i picked it up yesterday. i decided to drive the car today and sure enough the display turned dark while i was driving. the engine light, battery icon, power light went on. it stalled on the highway and i coasted to the dude of the road. i had to be towed because it would not move when in drive. the dealer is investigating it now
This is the third time we have had an issue with my wife's jeep. 2019 jeep cherokee limited. first issue was just over a thousand miles, spent almost a month in the garage. going down the interstate at high speeds the car shuts down and you lose all power steering, the brake pedal gets hard, etc. you lose all lights in the dash, all power going up hills, have to stop completely and restart in order to go anywhere. serious safety issue as reported to jeep multiple times now and they have said is fixed. we have requested they swap out our vehicle with another new jeep and they refused. this is a serious serious safety issue where the ability to safely drive the car abruptly stops while you are driving. power steering completely shuts down as does the car transmission making it so you can go nowhere. we have been almost wiped out by a semi truck on the interstate, this is after their third attempt at fixing the vehicle and saying it is fixed. and safe. we have requested time after time for them to give us a new jeep and they refused because they don't want to dish out the money or whatever the case is. this vehicle can lose power steering and the transmission can go into neutral at any time while driving down the road causing you to be left with a very unsafe vehicle at highway speeds and potentially unable to steer the vehicle. it is a miracle that my wife who was 40 weeks pregnant at the time was able to put all her muscle into the car and steer it away from going over a cliff the first time when it died. the second time we were on the interstate on the way to a doctor's appointment. third time was today on the interstate again.
Our brand new 2019 jeep limited 4 x 4 with v6 engine (285 miles) was started up in our driveway i noticed the battery light was on. the dashboard stated the start/stop function was no longer working. the seat would not move for driver 2. we needed to get to an event and attempted to pull out of the driveway when we noticed the power steering was not working. we returned the car to its spot on the driveway. the car was started this morning with no battery icon showing and no dashboard memo. i'm afraid to drive this vehicle and will get it to a dealership.
On december 29th at about 5pm, i was traveling south at 40mph on plymouth sorrento rd in orange county fl.as i was driving, i heard a ding (1 ding almost as if my seat belt wants buckled, but it was) and at that time, my jeep shut down in travel. the first thing i noticed was the radio shut off and all the gauges, as i went to correct my steering, to get back in the center of my lane, i realized i had no steering capabilities, the steering wheel was locked. when i realized what had happened, i began to slow and the car came back on. this all took place in about 5 seconds. when i got my head straight and started back home, i noticed that the radio, control panel/gauges and a/c would not function properly. i could not change channel, turn air off, couldn't change volume or nothing. about twenty minutes later i arrived at my house and shut the car down. the radio continued to play. i had to start and shut the jeep down three time in order for the equipment to shut down. i called napleton jeep of clermont to come tow the jeep in and i called chrylser corp to notify them of the major safety hazard this was and problems this could have caused. searching the same year and model jeep on the internet, it appears this is a pretty common thing,. i explained it to one of the chrysler corp managers and he said it didn't matter how many vehicles this happened to, there is no problem. chrysler had the napleton dealer drive the car for about 90 miles over a week period and never had a problem. at that time i got a call from chrysler and napleton, stating i can pick my jeep up, there is nothing wrong. the jeep had about 2000 miles on it when this happened. we have had the jeep about 40 days when this happened, and because chrysler couldn't recreate the issues, they have just washed their hands of the problem.
My 2019 jeep cherokee latitude plus has had a electrical problem starting 2 weeks after we bought the vehicle. the radio screen changes on its own to all the different features on the screen including turning the backup camera on while driving forward, turning the seat heater and wheel heater on and not shutting off, turning the heater and max a/c on and off, calling people while on bluetooth. this happens when the vehicle is in motion, stationary, on city streets and highway. i have taken the vehicle in 4 times so far for this issue. the service department has tested the battery voltage on 12/17/18 couldn't find a problem. problem again on 01/14/19. problem again 01/23/19, service department checked it, gave it back to me and said they were ordering a new radio. 01/28/19 radio replaced. after the radio was replaced the mileage was blinking and the electronic throttle system light comes on and then shuts off after starting the vehicle. 01/29/19 vehicle is back at the service department with the same issues (01/30/19 service department still has vehicle). i have video of the problem but can only upload photos so i took screenshots of the video.
Today we bought a new 2019 jeep cherokee vin [xxx] from quirk dealership in braintree ma. the car stalled 100 feet from the dealership leaving the lot - no ability to steer all systems died. these cars need to be recalled, very scary in traffic with no ability to move. this is not the first complaints i have seen, please help the consumer by recalling these vehicles. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
While pulling into a parking lot the vehicle engine shut down, it has done this three times in the past week. vehicle is now at the dealership. i had to put the vehicle in park in order to restart it. *dt *dt*jb
Less than 30 days of purchasing the car it completely shut down while i was driving in traffic. battery light came on, car rolled to a stop and would not crank back up for a few minutes. this happened while driving at a speed of 55 - 60 mph. i called the dealership and they had me bring the car back in. apparently this is a safety feature that happens when the oil is too low!!! they did not top off the oil when i purchased the car. however, this is not a safe thing for a vehicle to do. i could have been killed in atlanta traffic on these interstates. this is beyond dangerous and this " feature " was not disclosed at the time of purchase!
Car will stall while in motion and come to a complete stop. it's very dangerous to have a new car stall in the middle of traffic. i have contacted the dealer and they have no
Was at a 4 way stop sign getting ready to pull off when vehicle stop working. tried to recrank the vehicle but it took 5 minutes to start again. called dealership and took it to the service department. about a week and a half later vehicle started having issues again. vehicle started to stall and have a very slow take off. take off was so slow until i had to sit 15 minutes before take off.
The radio volume continually fades in and out all of the time. many 2019 owners have the same problem. factory issue.
My 2019 jeep cherokee latitude was just exiting the interstate and approached a light on the off ramp. upon stopping and trying to accelerate my jeep began beeping and the "drive (d)" started blinking on the dash and gear. during this time my vehicle would roll backwards to the off ramp unless the emergency break was engaged. i was not able to press the gas, shifting into other gears did not do anything and the breaks were locked out. i was sitting in the bike lane blocking traffic and hoping to not get hit. i was able to roll downhill about 50ft and steer onto a side street. once there i again tried to shift to different gears and nothing seemed to work. as mentioned my breaks were locked and the gas pedal was out of service. finally, after exiting the major intersection i tried turning the car off and back on and it seemed to clear the error. my car is currently in the shop for this problem. something needs to be done about this though. if this would have happened seconds before serious injury or deaths could have been involved.
Vehicle would not start. had it towed to the dealership and they replaced the park/neutral safety switch.
I have a 2019 jeep cherokee with 4,800 miles. periodically while driving, the battery/voltage indicator comes on and the car completely shuts down. it has been very scary and dangerous. this has only happened on slower, city streets so far. the car restarts after its put in park. its at the dealer, but no luck finding a cause yet. i have attached a photo of what it looked like when it last occured.
While vehicle in motion, charging system/battery warning light illuminated. within 5 minutes of this incident, tire pressure/run flat warning indicator illuminated. recommended pressure of 36 psi incorrect. received 2 recall notifications on app and email. then both recalls disappeared.
Takata recall. i was merging into the turning lane in busy traffic. as i was applying brakes and coming to a low speed the voltage light came on and the jeep completely stalled and lost all drivability. no other lights or anything was in the dash just the voltage. i put the car in neutral and managed to get it back started before getting hit in a busy intersection.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee. while driving 15 mph, the vehicle stalled and the battery warning indicator illuminated. after a few minutes, the vehicle was able to be restarted and drove normally. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 4,900.
The car stalls while driving at low and high speeds. the engine will atop completely and the car rolls back or begins to drive backwards when it's restarted. this is a real safety concern as i have almost been hit 4 times now due to the car stalking in atop and go traffic and another time while driving at high speeds. also, the car appears to chug or hesitate to change gears. it's is slow to pick up speed and at times, it will not accelerate. the radio fluctuates in volume level constantly regardless of the programming and it's so bad that you can't even use it. i'm concerned for the safety of myself, my children and others as well. chrysler appears to have no concerns. unless someone dies, i'm afraid this issue will not be resolved.
I leaned my 2019 jeep cherokee back in september 2018. a week after leasing it i was slowing down to come to a stop sign and it beeped at me and all the power shut off in the jeep. i tried to hit the start button nothing. i put it in park after fighting with it to go into park and tried the start button again. nothing. so i waited 2 minutes and tried again it turned back on and was fine for the rest of the drive. january 24 2019 i was pulling out of the parking garage at work and after 4 minutes of it being on it shut off mid driving. same thing happened it beeped and all power shut off. i put it in park and hit the start button. nothing. waiting 2 minutes tried again turned on made it all the way home. also when i turn either way it beeps as of a door is open. no door is open check repeatedly. when i go over a speed bump it sounds like something is grinding in the back end i have to come to a complete stop and start again after the bump or the jeep will not move. the radio will randomly make a very loud static noise that is ear piercing for a second the it will be fine or it will restart the radio it's different everytime it happens.
Vehicle stalls no re-start traveling 80 mph on interstate. complete stall dead stick , no dash lights , no power.!!! coast to stop no re-start. dead
I was at a stop waiting to make a left hand turn, when i saw an opening to turn i accelerated, turned the wheel and had just barely cleared the oncoming traffic when my car stopped accelerating and my engine cut entirely. i coasted through the rest of the turn with no power just barely avoiding being hit. i looked at the dash and saw my battery light flashing and my info center displaying the message you see when you first enter your car "to start engine put foot on brake and press start button" (or some variation of this phrase, i can't quote it verbatim). it had stalled. i turned the car back on, called the dealership and they immediately sent someone to pick it up. i have owned my brand new car for 11 days and have only 700 miles on it. the dealership cannot find anything wrong with my car, cannot recreate the situation and there is no apparent recall on my car's year. there is, however; a recall on the model. fca's advanced communication for recall u87 on 8/16/18 does list my model year and the original documentation for nhtsa's 18v-524 does as well. the actual recall does not. i'm concerned as this recall documents an issue with the powertrain control module (pcm) that "may have been manufactured with a suspect voltage regulator chip on the electronic circuit board. if the pcm fails, the customer may experience a no-start, a start-and-immediate stall condition, or an engine stall while driving". that is an exact quote from the fca communication on 8/16/18 which lists my model & year. the dealer is unable to address this though as the recall does not. its clear to me this is the issue but this small exclusion of my model year leaves my dealership with their hands tied and me with a potentially unsafe car.
When a phone call comes in the ringer volume is at maximum volume. this is heart stopping, making me jump. i am forced to quickly turn the volume down which, when in traffic, is very distracting and potentially dangerous. i have read online of others having this issue, with no resolution. even though i turn the volume down, the next time the volume is right back up at maximum. there is no way to avoid this. i also have the issue of bluetooth calling being useless. although i can hear the other party they cannot hear me. the system also makes a very loud popping static noise whenever i use the bluetooth system, either at the beginning or end. i am afraid this will damage my vehicles speaker or stereo system. i have had the vehicle to my dealer numerous times and they were able to recreate the issue. we even tested on another cherokee and the issue did not occur for me in this vehicle. the dealer did a software update that did not help. then they were told jeep was coming out with a software update that would help. after 3 months they told me the update was in, so i dropped my car off again. the next day i was told that the update was corrupted and that jeep informed them not to run the update or there would be new problems. so my car went to the dealer again for no reason. this has been a huge inconvenience for me for months now. i also had an issue with the radio rebooting while driving, for no apparent reason. i also experienced an issue with the radio displaying nothing but colored lines and eventually going black all together. this was hopefully fixed by an update but that still remains to be seen. overall, this jeep has had me going back and forth to the dealer starting about a month after i bought it.
While driving down the road the battery light came on followed by the etc light then the vehicle died without any other warning
The vehicle keeps stalling without warning recal#ua9/nhtsa 18v-739 the dealer had the car to fix the recall. the car still does the same thing as it did before recal. it has been in 6-8 times for this problem. dealer installed a data recorder and it did not record an event twice. it happens on the hiway, the street and in front of the house when going into driveway;
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee latitude. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact turned the vehicle off and back on and the vehicle operated as intended. the vehicle was taken to tuttle-click automotive group38 auto center dr, irvine, ca 92618 (949) 835-4812 where it was diagnosed however, the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. an oil change was recommended. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the vehicle was then taken to another dealer, dch chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat of temecula 26845 ynez rd, temecula, ca 92591 (951) 225-4541, to be diagnosed which was still pending. the contact mentioned nhtsa campaign number: 18v344000 (engine and engine cooling), nhtsa campaign number: 18v524000 (electrical system) as a possible solution to the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
I leased a 2019 jeep cherokee on may 23,2018. on four occasions since that time, the car's battery light comes on and the car stalls out. the incidents have happened while in motion when slowing down (less than 10 miles per hour) the car was in a jeep dealership for several days this month, but they were unable to determine the cause of the problem. the problem happened again today, september 16th. a review of internet sites reveals other customers are experiencing the same problem with no resolution from jeep. i consider this problem to be a safety issue, and certainly one that should not be happening with a new car.
Wen into arbitration with documentaiton of 8 trips to dealer to find problem they told us they were not able to duplicate the problem sssee recall #ua9/nhtsa 18v-739. .after the arbitration ckhrysler rep stated that the vehicle was not unsafe.i believe other people are dealing with this same problem. i can mail coopies of work orders and and jucgement from ncds .pleas send mailing info.
Vehicle battery died while driving. has happened 3 times. happens at low speeds. power steering is turned off and you must turn car off and turn back on. very danergous because you can't turn your steering wheel when it is dying so easily could be hit.
I was stopped at a red light, waiting to turn right as i yielded to other traffic. i was slowly moving forward when my battery light flashed and my car stalled out and started rolling backward. i was in a lot of traffic, so i had to put my flashers on. a man offered to push me to the side of the road. i had already turned off my car, but decided to try turning it back on. it restarted fine; and started driving again. this could have been extremely dangerous if i had been driving at any higher of a speed. i only have 585 miles on this vehicle. i have read other people having the same exact issues and have taken them to dealerships with no solution. *dt *tr
Vehicle locks up and completely dies while being driven at high speeds. steering wheel locks up. must come to a stop to put in park and restart car.
The car stalls while driving for no apparent reason. the engine turns off and there is no power on the dashboard. this will happen regardless of oil levels, even though the car has always had the proper oil level. it takes about 5 minutes to turn on again when you are in the middle of the street/freeway with traffic behind. the dealership was unable to find a problem, but it keeps happening on a daily basis.
The auto start/stop feature kicks in as normal, however the car does not start back after doing so. this does not happen every time but happens often enough to cause issues, like in traffic, and on slops. the brakes lock up, and i have more than once started rolling backwards. all gears flash on the display, and i must cycle the key to fix the issue. possibly related to the underlying issue, but not the start/stop feature, if the car is in neutral for any period of time, such as when being pulled through a car wash, the exact same thing happens. when i try to shift back into drive to pull out of the car wash, the d flashes on the display, nothing happens, no matter how much time i spend trying to get it to register, which honestly isn't much, i have to get out of the car wash quickly, nothing happens. i'm left once again having to cycle the key and restart the vehicle. every single time after the issue happens when the vehicle has been in neutral, the start stop issue occurs on the first instance of it being engaged. the dealership doesn't seem to care, wouldn't even take a copy of my video, and are putting so many miles on my brand new vehicle to "replicate" the issue. this has been happening since early july, and jeep nor chrysler seems to have any answers as they've "never seen this before".
First we weren't able to take vehicle home the day we signed the finance papers, 8/19/18, due to battery being dead. we then picked up car on 8/20/18. kept vehicle till around the 23rd. the jeep cherokee turned off in traffic and went into battery protection mode. we had to put car in park and restart. we were almost rear-ended. i then called dealership to talk to salesman and he was busy so i asked for manager who then told me that the salesman would call me back. when i told salesman about the incident i was told to drive with start-stop function off and to wait till next day to see if it did it again. the vehicle didn't start in the morning and then tried second time and it turned on in battery protection mode so i took it in to dealership and was given a loaner. we then picked up cherokee on or around 8/31/18. we were told the battery was recharged. the cherokee then started to turn off again in traffic so i took it back on 9/5/18. i was given another loaner. i was then told to pick up cherokee on 9/18/18. i was told that they didn't find anything and couldn't recreate the incident. ever since we received the cherokee back on the 18th we keep the start-stop function off. now the tire pressure sensors keep coming on and off and the gas is going at a faster rate then before. not sure if sensors are working correctly. took car back to dealership on sunday 10/14/18 and was told to call service the next day because they had no loaners. today 10/21/18 vehicle turned off while driving out of parking space. car restarted but do not trust driving this vehicle with my family inside. there has been several times the vehicle didn't accelerate while stepping on the gas pedal.
Purchased 2019 jeep cherokee latitude 4x4 2.4l engine on may 12th. only have 1,700 miles and it has stalled on me on three occasions not due to the ess. june 2018: -1st: while entering the freeway during rush hour it stalled, causing me to coast to a stop on the side, put it in park, and restart it. almost caused an accident. two weeks later: -2nd: coasting to a stop sign, stalled, coasted to stop, put in park, restarted. august 2018: today: coasted to stop sign, stalled, restarted. it has been to the dealer twice already since i purchased in may, they cannot figure it out and i'm not alone, please see this article: https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t77882_ds917392 this is a huge safety concern as i'm nervous it will happen while on freeway, all three times the battery light came on as well as the charging icon. dealer has no idea what is causing this and i'm paying $457 for a brand new vehicle that is unsafe.
In the las 3 weeks the jeep 2019 cherokee latitude plus when i was driving shut off while i was 5 miles per hours this is not safe at all, i took it to the dealer and they said is anything wrong with the car, but i am scare to drive the brand new car on the freeway, right now the car is again at the dealer
Radio goes out only is own say insert key while driving sometimes just shuts off if you search 2019 reviews there's more complaints then any other chrysler this is just a shame 27000 car and the dealership can't even fix it and people like me get stuck with crappy cars thinking they are buying new car with no worries wrong chrysler.*dt *bf.. invalid vin dealer told the consumer it was a flash recall and happened again.*jb
Day drove off lot radio fades in and out all radio stations. stops for about a week and starts back up. turning car off and on has no effect. doesn't matter the area being drove inner city highway backroads it happens at any time any where. car can be sittting in driveway, parking lot, stop light and continues.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle stalled and an unknown electronic symbol illuminated. the vehicle was taken to crowley chrysler jeep dodge ram (860-261-3000, located at 1461 farmington ave, bristol, ct 06010) where the software was upgraded, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and an unknown failure code was located. the dealer also diagnosed and replaced the engine. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file for an arbitration. the contact filed for an arbitration. the failure recurred and the same dealer installed a flight controller to track the failures. the contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v739000 (power train). the vehicle was repaired per the recall and the contact stated that the vehicle "appeared to be repaired"; however, she wanted the vehicle replaced. the failure mileage was unknown.
The vehicle's infotainment system started to intensly malfunction while the vehicle was stationary. multiple functions started to malfunction simultaneously including the radio, air conditioning, and windshield wipers. the infotainment system would also randomly turn off and turn back on. after turning the vehicle off to see if that would fix the problem, the vehicle continued to experience multiple malfunctions. the vehicle then started to move and the same issues were still occuring. this incident happened on a city street and a highway.
I bought this car brand new and not even a week later it was throwing every single code possible. tried to drive it to the dealership but it died 17 times including in the middle of traffic.. every warning light was on saying service something different everytime. after having it towed to the dealership with exactly 300 miles on it they printed a sheet with 35+ codes that the car was showing. its been over a week and after checking in they said they have no idea how/if it can be fixed. at this point even if it can be fixed whats to say it won't happen again. its a serious safety issue!!
I have had several issues with this car it started out with when i went to go change the radio on the touch screen the screen was so hot it burnt my finger. i made an appointment with jls jeep and they said there were a lot of radio codes coming up so they were going to replace it. after the radio is replaced my car then decided to was now going to shut off on me while i was driving at speeds 55mph. the d on the shifter started flashing and then the screen above the steering wheel started flashing saying put the car in park and turn it off. during this time i could no longer use the gas pedal and had little control over the steering wheel for it was stiff almost as if the car just locked up. since i was on a highway where the speed limit is 55mph i was very lucky that another car did not his me since there was literally nothing i could do until the car came to a complete stop and then i had to put it in park and turn it on and off again.
The tail lights become clouded due to condensation that appears after the running lights have warmed up the inside of the tail light housing. this occurs in all weather conditions. condensation does dissipate or fade away when lights and the car have been turned off and stationary for some time.
Vehicle locked up after stepping on brake at stop light. dash lights started blinking off and on.
Right after leases the new car , drive down to highway engine light on staring wheel not moving , stop the car side of highway, tow the car to other jeep dealer ,day after they called its working but didn't know what is problem. talk to original dealers to ask change other new one but they dined.
The radio will suddenly go out and multi-colored lines will appear on the left side of the screen. sometimes the music will continue to play other times it will not. it seems to be effecting the running lights only on one side. the time frame when it goes out and comes back on varies, anywhere from a few seconds or until i shut the vehicle off and turn it back on.
