Had three months with my car, started showing the check engine light periodically, i didn't take much importance, then i receive a recall from the dealer, they fix the unknown problem, then five months later i park on the pending street and trying to drive back, the shifter wasn't moving at all, after a few minutes strangling with the shifter the car finally work, after that the check engine light was on for a day, this happened again continuously. this check engine light on, happens a lot. today 12-04-2015, a tragedy happened to me , when i park my car on a climb street, i put the shifter on park, turn off the car, took my key, i get out of the car, close the door, when i was about to set up the alarm i notice by reflection that something was moving, and that was my car, passing by next to me and crashing into a concrete wall, almost run me down, 'again the car was off and i had the key in my hand'. how is this possible??? if my car has an automatic transmission. i don't feel safe anymore, owing this car, putting my life and others in risk, i don't this is fair, when youre investing your money for security, i need a response or solution for this problem a.s.a.p. thanks. I started leasing this brand new car july 2015. initially there were a few minor shifting changes that felt unsteady. coming home from work one day in october 2015 i noticed the car was not accelerating, would shift poorly into different gears and was jolting. at the same time the "service engine light" turned on as well as a message stating "service transmission". i waited seven hours for jeep to tow the car, it took them one week to diagnose, and they estimated another week to repair. so far they've had the car for two weeks and the estimate pickup day would mark 17 days without the car if its even ready on time. they are replacing the entire transmission.

Jeep 2015 cherokee stalled while in motion in high speed lane of highwayin heavy traffic. upon restarting, car was stuck somewhere around 3rd or 4th gear. engine was skipping.
Our cherokee latitude was at 4,800 miles when it suddenly flashed service transmission and service engine. we were stuck in a high gear on the interstate which allowed us off of the interstate to safety but we were nearly hit trying to get to a pull off area as it wouldn't pick up speed once it slowed down. then it jumped and banged to shift off due to the start\stop which we quickly turned off and were glad we didn't ram anyone. once the car was off for awhile it reset itself and we tried getting to the next town since we were in a trip. it did it again, so we called the nearest dealer. they said they were aware of a recall and would call us back to help but never did. we managed to get it back home after it sat off for awhile have been given a loaner from our dealership. it seems like more needs to be done to fix this issue as there are lots of transmission complaints!
I bought a 2015 jeep cherokee trailhawk v6 on 10/14/15. on 10/16/15 while driving down a street at 45mph, the vehicle died. i managed to get off to the side of the road and after a couple of attempts it started again. the check engine light was now on and i had no acceleration. i managed to drive 5 miles to the dealership in "limp mode" and drop it off for repairs. the last i heard on 10/17/15 was that they were going to replace the tcm and pcm and see if that helps, it is now 10/21/15 and i do not have an update.
I was trying to continue through a busy intersection, i pressed the accelerator and the car acted like it was in neutral. it revved up, but did not accelerate. i looked down at my gear shift and it was still in drive, however my dashboard said that the jeep was in neutral. because i could not continue through the intersection, i was rear ended by the person behind me.
When i was looking at vehicles, the primary items i wanted in the new vehicle was a six cylinder engine so that we would have the pick-up needed for extensive highway driving. the issues existed since it was new but i have actually become concerned for my safety in this vehicle; we only drive it when we absolutely have to (ie. both of us in the household have to go to work). the engine is the 6 cylinder with the 9 speed transmission. this engine has intermittent issues where the vehicle hesitates, lurches, and jumps. sometimes when accelerating from a full stop, it hesitates several seconds, and then when it does respond the tires squeal and the vehicle lurches forward from the transmission not engaging as it should. sometimes it is a milder response where it is just a hesitation due to delayed shifting. more recently, now the engine is not downshifting and the engine revs and doesn't want to downshift. i no longer feel safe driving this because it is so erratic and i constantly wonder what it is going to do next. every time we take it to the jeep dealer, they update the computer and send us on our way. the software updates do not help. we have asked them to drive it and they have told me they don't experience anything wrong. it wasn't until we went to write this letter that we realized that the service orders don't record the fact that we have asked the jeep dealer to look at this issue every time it has been in the shop with them. which indicates to us that jeep is trying to hide from this issue. the amazing thing is that if you go online and start researching issues with the jeep engine that has the 9 speed transmission, thousands of people are having the same problems as we are having. the sad thing is jeep continues to make the engine with the 9 speed transmission and the issues don't seem to be fixed. to me that is blatant disregard for the consumer.
I bought my car 3/29/2015. my car has been in the shop 4 times in the 6 months since i have bout it. it had the transmission valve replaced, the harness replaces, and after all of that still did not fix anything. my car is currently having a new transmission put in ( only has 5,000) miles on it! so many costumers are having the same issues with their 2015 cherokees, they are unsafe and have caused many accidents from transmission failures. they need to be recalled!!!
While applying the brakes in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the vehicle slows down to approx. 20mph and then accelerates on its own.

Purchased the 2015 jeep cherokee in march. have had issues with the transmission due to the recalls. the vehicle would slow and not shift properly, it would also lurch and stall and shift very clunky. 9/21 - had the recalls taken care of and was told it would solve the issues. 9/22 - driving on the freeway in stop and go traffic and the car suddenly lurches and then stops. the service transmission, check engine and emergency brake were all flashing. i almost got rear-ended and was in a serious accident. i had to turn the car off on the freeway to "reboot" it as it was stuck in a parked position but not powered off. 9/24 - en route to get the car serviced, i was on the freeway in traffic, it lurches and stopped again, this time causing me to rear-end the vehicle in front of me.

My 2015 jeep cherokee latitude shut off on me while i was driving not even a full week of owning it. the vehicle gauges go to zero and i loose power steering and when i apply the gas pedal nothing happens. all i am able to do is press the brake pedal and hopefully not have anyone behind me so that i can try and pull over with no power steering. i have taken it into the dealer on several occasions showing them both video and photo documentation of what is happening and they have been unable to duplicate this issue and have not provided me with an alternative as to getting another vehicle or my money back. the vehicle first shut off on me 18sep2015 and has continued to do so on the highway and on city streets with the most recent time being 14feb2016. i have all of my documentation of every time its been in the shop for the same problem with no resolution being provided.
When starting from a stop car hesitates or jerks, sometimes clunks or grinds. does the same thing when trying to pass a vehicle, pulling out at a stop light does the same thing. i believe it could be the transmission as the car seems not to want to shift correctly and makes rough, jumpy grinding noises does this most of time time you drive it and has for along time.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was able to be restarted. the failure occurred on multiple occasions. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 10,000. the vin was not available.
Water or fluid leaking from exhaust system. at start up and shut down rear exhaust.
Leased a 2015 jeep cherokee latitude february 28, 2015. have had my vehicle at the dealership twice previously for recalls including the "transmission re-flash". have noticed jerky downshifting and revving of the engine upon slowing down. last week engine light came on along with warning that the "stop start" feature was disabled and unavailable. took into dealership where it is currently awaiting a replacement of the transmission. very disappointed in this vehicle. chrysler could have hit a home run, but instead has a lemon on its hands.
Transmission stalls alot and is very sluggish , really afraid to let my son ride in the jeep because im scared we will get hit because you have no power to get out of the way. my jeep always would not start today and when i tried cranking it the brakes felt like a rock and could not be depressed ,,, that could really cause a problem and get myself and others hurt if the brakes did that while driving , thank god i was not on the road this accured in my driveway. scared to really drive this jeep but i pay $940 a month and you would think this thing would run and drive and be safe but im now wondering about this and i have only had this jeep since july 20 15 and it only has 1977 miles on it.hope this info may help others.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while coming to a stop at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled. the contact stated that the start system disengaged after the failure, but the vehicle still stalled while driving at various speeds. the battery warning light illuminated. the vehicle was turned off and was able to restart after the third attempt. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 2,200.
This is a newly leased vehicle. after driving at 65 mph for about 20 minutes and then stopping, a burning smell was observed. after opening hood, smoke was rising from behind the engine, but no fire. oil was observed leaking underneath the vehicle and engine oil level had dropped below the recommended level. oil was leaking onto the skid plate and exhaust which caused the smoke. vehicle was driven back to the dealer for repairs. dealer stated the oil pan seal was leaking and replaced the seal immediately at no charge to me.
The transmission issue has been occurring intermittently, but the jeep in inoperable when the transmission failure is occurring. the transmission has failed to engage when starting the car or when the auto start/stop sequence occurs while driving. the screens pop up on dash including 4wd failure, parking brake failure, and service transmission. i have now brought the jeep in 3 times in the last month with the same unresolved transmission issue. on the first occurrence, the vehicle was towed into the local dealer, the second time i drove it in after restarting the vehicle and the tcm was replaced. the third time, the dealer was unable to repeat the issue and apparently the codes cleared. the interesting part about the third time was the fact that uconnect sent me an email warning me of the issue. i have very little confidence that this issue will not reoccur. the key takeaway of the issue is once i restart the vehicle several times the transmission eventually engages and the vehicle is drive able. the transmission light remains on, but will clear sometimes.
The car will accelerate and raise rpm's (sometimes increases speed by 1mph) by itself at 26mph while coasting from 30mph or greater . i'm pretty sure the car is downshifting at this point, but no car i have drove will accelerate while not pressing the gas. when the car is downshifting from any other speed, i can feel the downshift however the car does not accelerate like it does at 26mph. only at 26mph it accelerates at the down shift. sometimes the acceleration is greater then other times, but happens 95% of the time. i was told this is a characteristic of the car and it needs to learn how i drive. which makes no sense because if this is a characteristic of a car, it is a very unsafe one. i feel that this is a safety issue as the car is accelerating on its own while i'm expecting it to de-accelerate. a software update was done on my car, but the issue was not fixed.
When i switch gear the car jerks very hard when putting it in reverse. it burns gas very fast also the check engine light appears often i have got it check numerous of times they tell me my thermostat may need replaced. but the next day the check engine light will go off. the truck doesn't over heat, it just reads the thermostat may need replaced this been happening since the second month i purchased the vehicle.
Mine is 2015 new jeep cherokee v6 limited model. the problems mainly lie in the zf 9 speed transmission. 1) experienced front end wobbling when shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear accelerating at 1750 rpm to 2000. the vibration happens most frequent when starting from uphill. 2) the vehicle will accelerate on its own even without gas pedal engaged when down shifting from 4th to 3rd or lower gear, causing significant safety issues.
Had car for 2 weeks, 490 miles and transmission light went on, could not reverse, when putting car in drive car made terrible noise and jumped, smelled a burning smell. brought to service said probably need a new transmission. will not have car for at least a week. so disappointed, and am scared even to drive the car when i do get it back.
Less than 90 days after buying a new jeep cherokee i watched it towed away b/c it was un-driveable. it began in the morning when the gears were not shifting appropriately. then a few hours later, the engine would rev, and car would speed up, even though i wasn't pushing gas pedal. then reverse failed. then the parking brake light came on. finally, it stopped shifting up -- i had to floor it to go 5 miles an hour. i ultimately had to coast home. ....updated 11/02/15*bf updated 11/02/2017*cn
I was backing up my daughters driveway. her driveway is a little steep and when i went to give the jeep more gas the rpms dropped from 1500 to idle and then back to 1500 rpms really quick, it did this a couple times. the dog ended up on the floor of the car, friends standing outside the car though i didn't know how to drive. i finally had to turn the jeep around and go up her driveway in the forward direction. we went out to eat later and when i came back i tried backing up her driveway again and it did the same thing. i took the jeep into the dealer on 6/29/15 with 990 miles on it. the dealer updated the pcm and tcm and retested it but could not get it to fail. it failed again about 3 months later on labor day weekend, 2015. again backing up my daughters driveway. i contacted the jeep service manager and he said they probably can't fix it if it doesn't set a code. (great) the jeep hasn't failed backing up again but it did fail on the highway at 65 miles per hour completely shutting down and not restarting. (see complaint #10819212) like other jeep owners i've noticed the jeep stays in third gear to long at low speed, especially if you have to make a left turn in front of on coming traffic. i've resorted to down shifting the transmission myself so i can have some power to make the turn without getting hit. ( note to chrysler, i'm a first time jeep buyer, keep doing nothing about the engine and transmission problems and you can find your jeep at a ford or chevy dealership.......real soon).
6/19/2015: transmission/electrical issue when attempting to shift the vehicle into reverse it would shift into neutral instead. had to shift to park and then back to reverse before the vehicle went into gear. this was the fourth occurrence of this issue since purchase date. airbag warning message and indicator light turned on when shifting from park to reverse and to drive. electronic stability control indicator came on repeatedly while driving. 6/22/2015: transmission/electrical issue vehicle would not shift from park to reverse. after several minutes was able to put vehicle into park, and eventually powered vehicle off and on and was then able to shift from park to reverse and then drive. airbag warning message and indicator light turned on and electronic stability control indicator came on. 6/23/2015: transmission/electrical failure odometer at 800 miles. while driving, the vehicle suddenly went out of gear. climbing a parking garage ramp the vehicle stalled, the parking brake turned on, the airbag service message and indicator turned on, the service engine light came on, the windshield wipers came on, the media console and bluetooth connection failed. after several minutes of attempting to shift gears (could not get the vehicle into park, drive, or reverse, and parking brake kept engaging), was finally able to power the vehicle off. once the vehicle was powered back on, was able to shift to drive, and drove directly to the dealership. check engine light remained on and electronic stability control indicator came on repeatedly while driving. delivered vehicle to dealership for inspection and repair, and am awaiting resolution as of 7/20/2015.
My transmission keeps slipping on our brand new cherokee we saved up for! engine light keeps coming on and it jerks a lot when trying to slow down. getting into to car dealer asap! i'm so upset and scared to drive my two little kids in this car now that i think i know what the issue is. whether they fix this or not. i don't trust this car now.
While driving 55mph check engine lite along with stop/start lite came on and vehicle rapidly decelerated from 55mph to 30mph causing transmission to over heat which ultimately lead to transmission replacement on a new 2015 jeep,
When you let off the gas it speeds up and takes a little time to get it to go slower!
I went out to start my car at around 8:40am on may 28. when i pushed the button to start it, i heard a pop followed by smoke. i thought maybe something was under the car so i backed up the car approximately 2 feet and then turned it off. i went inside to get my husband, he came out and opened the hood and i tried to start it again. it started right up but there immediately was smoke and fire coming from the front of the car on the passenger side. i turned the car right off after maybe 5 or 6 seconds. i had a meeting to get to so i left in my husband's car. when i got to work, a retired fire fighter suggested that i call the norwich township fire department. brian beach came to inspect the car. because of all of the plastic coverings, it was very hard to see anything that was wrong other than melted plastic fittings. i had the car towed (at my expense) to byers on hamilton road. today, i spoke with the service manager, ron brown, who said that he didn't think that the car caught on fire. he feels that the tensioner belt broke and that is why i smelled burned rubber and there was so much smoke. either way, this is a brand new car and shouldn't be having any issues.
Thank you!! the first incident occurred at 304 miles. check engine light came on and the car started shaking and could not accelerate. check engine light started flashing and called the dealership immediately. had the truck towed in and they advised at first that the upper head of the engine blew, after speaking with my customer resolution rep (case number: [xxx]) the dealership called me again and advised it was just a bad spark plug and they fixed it. the second incident occurred about a week after this service i took a 200 mile trip to pa to visit family and on the way back from this trip the check engine light came on again. i checked the oil levels and there was nothing on the measuring stick. had to car towed again and this time bayside chrysler advised the o-ring went on the car and that it was replaced/fixed. after the o-ring service the car is still loosing oil but i can't smell is burning and there is nothing under the car after leaving a parking spot. however, when the car first starts blue smoke comes out of the exhaust and the engine knocks/tics a bit upon starting but that stops after the oil hits the engine i guess. on 8/5/2015 i started the car after work and the check engine light came on and flashing again and the car began shaking. it was towed to the dealership again this morning for service. the above covers the engine issues. two weeks ago at a stop sign i stepped on the gas but the engine just revved for a few seconds followed by the transmission engaging. since then the transmission has not been shifting normally. the transmission has not failed yet but it appears it's on its way. currently the car has 2,400 miles on it. any help would be greatly appreciated. i've been in contact with many other on forums and these people have family's/small children as do i. something needs to be done about these cars. their not safe. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Trans wants to make the cars speed up when trying to slow down. also when stepping on gas pedal the jeep has a lifting feeling like the engine mounts are broken. something not right with engine and or trans. the dealer told no problems found. but i now see some people are coming forward talk about same issue i am having?
I was moving very slowly in the second from right lane on route 287 in new jersey. in my attempt to change into the far right lane to be in my exit lane i accelerated heavily. the engine surged and made noise appropriate for the situation but did not actually engage in moving the vehicle for approximately 1-3 seconds. this could have caused a serious accident. jeep dealership has been advised. thank you.
As i was driving on the highway (cruise control), i raised my right knee which accidentally bumped the ignition key which turned the car off. i turned to key to on, but no help, then start position, again no help. i then put the trans in neutral and was able to restart the engine. however, i could not shift back into drive. i had to pull off the highway, come to a complete stop before i could shift into drive. fortunately i was on a two lane highway where i could safely pull off to the side of the road. had i been in one of the middle lanes of i-5 near seattle, this could have caused a serious accident (me getting rear ended). note that i able to duplicate this problem later.
I purchased a jeep cherokee 2015 on may 1st and started having trouble with the start/stop system on the 3rd. a passenger and i were coming to a stop and the vehicle completely shut off and stopped running. the control system, within the driver's panel, flashed start/stop system is unavailable, service start/stop system. i had to restart the car in the middle of the highway. it did this three times before we got home. the engine light also came on at this point. i did not drive it again until the next morning and hoped to make it to work and then take it to the dealer that afternoon. well i shouldn't have done that... on the way to work, on the interstate, i started slowing down and the system did the same thing. as i sped up the gears starting sticking, the car was stalling and i finally had to pull over and restart the car. on the interstate!!! the car did this another four or five times before i made it to work and another three times before i got to the dealership. when i first arrived, they could not figure out the issue and no reprogramming fixed the problem. they did state that the car has a flash update (aka recall), which was not communicated to me when i purchased the vehicle. so finally today, thursday, may 7th, (3 days later) chrysler decided the car needed a brand new transmission. wasn't the transmission brand new anyway????? this purchase has been very disappointing and i am really concerned about the safety of these vehicles. i really hope this new transmission fixes the problem. i also hope a serious recall is communicated to the public before anyone gets hurt! *tr
I am writing to express a "safety issue" relating to the push button start our new vehicle. while we are very happy with our vehicle, we recently had a scare with it. both my husband and i are hearing impaired & i feel it is a safety risk to have a push button start vehicle as number one we park our jeep in our attached garage. it can be easy to forget to push the engine off & it has happened once already and we were lucky to catch it within several minutes due to going back out to the garage to get something. we do have a remote start on our vehicle as well. when we recently went on vacation, due to being in a rush the vehicle was not turned off & it appears to have ran until it ran out of gas. it did start when we arrived back a week later, but we did not make it to the gas station before it ran completely out of gas. why can't the engine shut completely down if the key fob is more than five or ten feet away from the vehicle? (or similar with the remote start being within so many feet to start, why not also shut down as well as start?)
Shortly after buying my 2015 jeep cherokee sport with the 2.4 engine and 9 speed automatic, it began shifting erratically. in town it would hesitate when leaving a stop light or jerk violently while changing gears. on the highway, it would not downshift on inclines or to pass and merge with traffic. i had several close calls where i had to accelerate but nothing happened when putting the pedal to the floor. this has been in the shop four times just for this problem alone and as of this writing, is still not any better. it has also had other problems with the thermostat and interior. i work in the automotive industry and know from resources that this is a simple fix. fca is giving thousands of people the runaround and angering dealerships by not being honest. the 4 cylinder engine will no longer meet the reported mpg it was claimed to after the shift profiles change and this puts fca in a position that volkswagen recently dealt with. my safety and the safety of thousands is not worth 3 mpg. fca is also treating customers as if each case is individually unique and it belittles them as well as the mechanics that know repairs are futile. i have a case number now and another appointment but it would be best to avoid this vehicle at all costs and arbitrate. there should be a federal investigation before someone dies if they haven't already. the thermostat failure is also widespread and is only being addresses one at a time in field claims. this too could lead to serious damage and even fire which has also happened to a few of these vehicles. please help us be a voice and stop this serious disregard for safety and consumer rights.
Shortly before reaching her destination, the driver of our vehicle smelled an odor, but couldn't determine what it was. she continued onto her destination as it was just up the street. she parked the vehicle and was preparing to exit. before she could exit the vehicle, a witness saw smoke coming from under the vehicle. she quickly exited the vehicle and saw the smoke. the smoke then turned black and she saw flames. the vehicle then burst into flames. *tr
1 day after purchasing the vehicle (jeep cherokee trailhawk) while turning into traffic, the vehicle shut down and lost all engine and steering and was completely disabled in oncoming traffic. the transmission check engine light, parking brake warning, and loss of 4-wheel drive warnings all came on. the vehicle was completely immobile and highly unsafe to drive. chrysler/jeep has advised they don't know exactly what is causing the problem and have offered several fixes, but they can not guarantee any of them will fix the safety issue. *tr
Multiple incidents of when applying brakes, the tachometer would increase as the jeep down shifted and the jeep would leap forward. increase in speed. delays in the ignition switch when starting. when applying the gas, the jeep would have a 5 - 10 second delay in response and slow down instead of increasing the speed. as days past, the incidents with the jeep leaping forward when applying the brake got worse and it got to be dangerous to drive. almost rear ended a few people. had to have jeep towed to a dealership because it was unsafe to drive. the computer upgrade that came out in february of this year was not applied to this jeep before it was sold to me.
Transmission has always been with problems, it has been in service for 3 times and for the last one has been there for 3 weeks, i'm still waiting for a solution. vehicle is at the dealer waiting for a new transmission. i saw all the stories online about the transmission issues in this vehicle and decided i should also report my experience.
My 2015 jeep cherokee, and apparently hundreds or thousands of others from 2014 and 2015, have faulty transmissions. i needed a replacement at only 6000 miles and i've heard worse stories on various web sites. the new transmission is not much better yet jeep/chrysler refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem and continues to sell the cars. someone seriously needs to look into this as someone is going to get killed when theirjeep stalls or just stops at highway speeds.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 5 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle would not accelerate. the vehicle was restarted and the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer on four occasions where the failure was unable to be determined. in a most recent occasion, the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the module and the wiring harness were replaced and reprogrammed, but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the failure mileage was 4,500.
