While driving the car will shut off completely, locking the steering wheel and rendering the brakes and the gas ineffective... the first time i was driving 65mph on the freeway and it shut off. luckily there was no one on the road, i was able to coast to a stop, shift to park, and restart the engine... it proceeded to happen multiple times, no matter how fast i was driving.
Check engine light on, warnings auto/start/stop system failure. 4wd temporarily unavailable. car stalls while in motion. loses acceleration city and rural driving conditions. engine knock from premature cam shaft wear.
I was leaving my neighborhood yesterday morning when my jeep shut off without any warning or check engine lights and would not start. thankfully i was still close to home and was able to go home in neutral! what if i were on the highway? or in the middle of an intersection! the screen said to put vehicle in park. the radio and lights still work but it does not start. i am financing this jeep and have had it for 8 months from a dealership. i dont have an extended waranty and i dont know how to handle this... i looked up on carcomplaints.com and found identical complaints to mine of theyre new jeeps just shutting off mid drive. this needs to ba addressed. im terrified of this car.

I was leaving my condominium, soon after stepping the pedal, brake that message appeared on the on-board computer, then vehicle stopped walking. i was trying to call again, to park the same inside my parking space inside the condominium, started to make a very lucky noise and not calling, had to maneuver the vehicle without starting and still call a winch, to take to my reliable mechanic, that until today we can not find out what the problem is this vehicle, whenever we press the brake pedal, the message appears and does not start the vehicle.
Car will turn off. turn the key and pull it out, car stays running. when this happens, car is in a possessed state where brake lights stay on at all times, turn signals do not work, wipers do not work, horn does not work. took it to dealership and was told there are no codes, so nothing they can do. pull the battery cable off to shut the car down. this will happen mid drive so all of a sudden you'll lose your turn signals, wipers, horn, brake lights, door locks, and main light control. when you pull over, only way to turn the car off is to pull the battery cable.
This is follow up to previous complaint 11281573: dealer received jeep via tow and found stuck in neutral as i described. let sit overnight and dealer indicates jeep will only go in reverse, later in day second try jeep drives fine and no codes to report a problem to fix. cannot identify failure since no "codes" were available in system. dealer drove vehicle several times without problem of going into neutral occurring. i picked up vehicle and drove home. next morning while making a signaled left turn no city street, jeep goes into neutral, coast to adjacent parking lot crossing over one lane and stop. vehicle engages into drive so i proceed. returning home a few minuets later and at about 50 mph jeep again goes into neutral, i remove foot off accelerator but engine accelerates to about 5500 to 5800 rpm as i coast to side of road (quite shaken at this point due to accelerated engine). check engine light comes on during this episode. wait a few minuets to calm down and restart jeep. transmission engages and return to dealer. dealer finds code is due to difference between wheel speed and engine speed- not transmission related. several service techs drive jeep throughout the day without problem. later in day driver experiences neutral condition 3 times while test driving- still no codes to id problem. adviser contacts mopar extended warranty (max care unlimited mileage) but cannot get auth to repair without "codes". dealer has opened a "star case" with factory.
Shuts off after starting, display screen blacks out and radio doesn't work, engine light and brake lights come on and off. heat and air conditioning settings keep resetting to halfway between hot and cold. shuts off and slams into park or neutral. gears drop heavily when shifting from park to drive. computer keeps resetting. these things usually occur after starting and pulling away. you need to stop and restart the jeep. these things have also occurred at 65mph. this has steadily been getting worse over the last 4 months.
My 2015 jeep cherokee latitude has stall out 3 times on me while driving on busy highways. i took the vehicle in for repair and was told this particular engine consumes oil at a fast rate and without any warning, when low, will stall unexpectedly. no warning, no oil pressure gauge alerts, car simple stalls. i am afraid the vehicle will stall and me and any occupant will be killed or seriously injured. i have notice the same complaint numerous times on line.
Since purchasing 2015 jeep cherokee it has been more at the dealers than my home. it has been a nightmare, problems with transmission, sensors, and radio etc. it has been replaced numerous times for substantial defects and it continues to do so. this falls under the lemon law. it's getting to the point i am seeking an attorney, if my warranty is not extended and this is not fix at no charge to me. last night the jeep stop in the middle of the freeway almost caused an accident with warnings of (shift to p then desired gear) and service airbag system. this is my life you are playing with, for you're on going defects. i am a loyal jeep customer. i have a jeep wrangler, jeep compass and sebring chrysler. all i am asking is for my piece of mind and not worry about paying for anything when i have a defected and it's not safe to drive. please respond and solved this problem asap. thanks again and have a bless day.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while attempting to make a turn, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the contact stated that the failure occurred three times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. stevens creek chrysler jeep dodge ram (4100 stevens creek blvd, san jose, ca 95129, (408) 248-1800) was contacted by phone and a diagnostic appointment was scheduled. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
I was driving down the freeway when another driver alerted me there was a small fire coming from under my car. i pulled over into an empty lot and when i looked under the car i saw flames from under the vehicle. i stepped back and within minutes the entire front engine was consumed with flames.
Automatic start/stop system doesn't always engage. the transmission stays in 3rd gear after coming to a stop at a stop sign or traffic light and the car has high revolutions and jerks unit it down shifts to 1st gear when the gas pedal is pressed. causing hesitation in engine and putting me and my family in close calls for accidents.
2015 jeep cherokee latitude 4 wheel drive. it is under warranty for transmission, etc. using oil, ( evaporates?) and is a known issue with this make model and year. called jeep and was advised to get it into service immediately due to known issues, but they would not allow me to make a complaint. jeep has been trying to stall out while driving, at stops, hard shifts, brake comes on automatically, completely stopped in the middle of the road while driving, and oil has somehow disappeared from it, but no leaks.
Gear shifter error and now cannot put car into gear. happed the first time while driving and dash lights began blinking. stopped and put car into park and turned off and turned back on and it seemed ok. started giving error again today and now will not go into gear. nothing has happened to cause this.
As i am driving my car stahl's and everything shuts off. this typically happens as i am making a turn. this typically happens as i get closer to the date of my next oil change. the car shuts off completely and i must coast to a stop. after waiting about a minute i can restart the engine. this is a very dangerous situation as i am typically turning to cross traffic.

On june 24, 2019 my 2015 jeep trailhawk lost power was after it was driven for 30 mins and parked for 30 mins in the morning. the battery and transmission warning lights were on. we replaced the battery and the transmission light remained on. i was advised by the dealership to have the 'codes' cleared. i did and the light was gone. on august 5, 2019 the transmission warning light was on again. the dealership stated it was safe to drive and i made an appointment to have the vehicle serviced on august 27, 2019. on august 4, 2019, i was driving up a dirt mountain road, 4wheel low, and i lost power and the rpm were over 4.5 at less than 10 miles per hour. we turned around and got to a safe location to park the car. the next day, the car was operational. on august 22, 2019, i was moving slowly in traffic and as the traffic became lighter and i went to increase my speed, i lost power again. rpm were above 4.5 at 20 miles, i did not have the vehicle 4 wheel low. i was adjacent to the dealership and took it directly there. this has happened once before, august 23, 2017, the dealership replaced the transmission. the vehicle jerks when stopped at a light and it starts up again. i no longer feel safe in the vehicle. i am scared that i will lose power in a remote location or in traffic and cause an accident.
Gear shifter error and now cannot put car into gear battery and transmission warning lights were on. we replaced the battery the vehicle jerks when stopped at a light and it starts up again. i no longer feel safe in the vehicle. i am scared that i will lose power in traffic and cause an accident.

Power train/engine recall. i brought my vehicle to the dealership to let them know my vehicle accelerated when i applied my brakes and it does this all the time. they said it was some module that needed to be adjusted or updated and the problem was not fixed. the problem is not fixed and it just the other night while driving down the road i applied my brakes because a car pulled out in front of me and the jeep lunged forward then slowed down. this is an ongoing issue amongst others with jeep cherokees because i have asked my neighbor and others ive met with jeep cherokee's and they have all mentioned this happens to them as well. it is in the jeep forums, why is this issue not fixed, to be honest i don't feel safe driving my vehicle. i'm in the military and have to drive over 60 miles per day to and from work and this is unacceptable. it happens pretty much every time i drive the vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving, the vehicle had difficulty shifting into the next gear and the rpms suddenly increased. the contact stated that the vehicle tended to overheat and the coolant burned off although there were no visible leaks. in addition, the transmission warning indicator illuminated and the overheating indicator notified the driver to turn off the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to bob moore chrysler ram dodge jeep (4627 s memorial dr, tulsa, ok 74145, 918-663-6343), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 87,000.
Gear shifter error and now cannot put car into gear car gets stuck in neutral for about 5-10 befor i can switch to other gear battery and transmission warning lights were on. we replaced the battery the vehicle jerks when stopped at a light and it starts up again. i no longer feel safe in the vehicle. i am scared that i will lose power in a remote location or in traffic and cause an accident.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle lost power, decelerated, and the contact lost control of the vehicle. the vehicle decelerated and accelerated multiple times. after a while, the transmission remained stuck in drive and the check engine and traction control warning indicators illuminated. also, "service transmission", "service abs", and "service shifter" were displayed. the contact drove the vehicle to gulf coast chrysler jeep (3781 s mckenzie st, foley, al 36535, (251) 943-5075) where a diagnostic appointment was scheduled. the vehicle was in the process of being diagnosed and repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 24,000. the vin was unknown.
I was driving on interstate and stepped on brakes because cars were slowing down when i began to brake the engine shut off. message said shift to park and start engine. cars were honking. i did what it read and it took seconds but turned back on. it took some explaining to the dealership after my personal research in waiting room for 4 hours. they found the codes?? it happened again but more seriously on a toad with traffic moving i stepped on brakes to make a left turn but it turned off! cars slammed on their brakes. i did what message said it took longer this time. i pulled into a parking lot and it turned off again when i stepped on brakes to park. i can't get a dealership to help me?? tomorrow i'm going back to the original service department that found the codes in january. this is scary.
My vehicle was parked in the garage and was turned off. i was placing laundry in the washer right by the garage. all of the sudden the vehicle started. i would not have known it had started if the engine had not been racing and i was only separated from it by the laundry room to garage door. i suspect the engine started when something in my pocket pressed on the key fob. this is very dangerous. it appears that the key fob isn't designed correctly, the key on the key fob that will start the vehicle should be depressed so items in ones pockets can't press the key that's used to start the engine. this needs to be corrected either through disabling the remote start or providing a key fob that won't allow this dangerous condition to occur. the vehicle was stationary turned off in my garage when it started.
When i start the vehicle it revs high and when i take off it jumps/hesitates. as i am driving, the warning bell will "ding" a warning and the engine just cuts off. message on dash tells me i am unable to shift and must put car in park to shift. i am unable to accelerate or turn my steering wheel and at a complete stop. also as i make a turn at a stop light, the warning "ding" will happen and no message is displayed on dash. these problems have occurred while the car is "in motion"! not stopped!
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle overheated and stalled in heavy traffic. bettenhausen chrysler dodge jeep ram (8355 w 159th st, tinley park, il 60477, (708) 532-2665) stated that a loaner vehicle was not an option. south oak jeep dodge chrysler ram (4550 lincoln hwy, matteson, il 60443, (708) 747-7950) indicated that the repair was covered by a power train warranty to service the engine. the manufacturer later stated that the failure was due to user error. the dealer indicated that the engine assembly needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified and did not state if the power train warranty would cover the repair. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
My 2015 jeep cherokee trailhawk when starting the vehicle or driving the red lights on the shifter will all turn on and the instrument cluster with display a service shifter screen. sometimes when the vehicle is parked i can shut off the car and turn the car back on and reset other times will it reset.
Engine was completely replaced, also the ac compressor broke right after the engine was replaced. there has been recalls on 75k other jeep cherokees, same year.
The 2015 jeep cherokee latitude 44..shut down in moving traffic .dash stated to put car in park to shift gear.vehicle was already in gear.vehicle started back up and i made it to a gas station where it shut down at the pump.vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. this is the third time since i purchased the vehicle it had to be towed for shutting down in motion. i bought the car brand new in may of 2015. has 51k miles on it now. also it shifts iraticly. the cruise control accelerates on it's own. something must be did one or people will get hurt .
The engine loses large amount of oil causing the car air flow system to malfunction. the car completely shutdown while driving because the car needs oil and ecs warning blinks. however, the car oil indicator doesn't recognize the car needs oil. this same identical situation has happen multiple time, starting about 1 year after i purchased the suv in september 2015. every time i have taken the car to the dealership, it has been noted in the record. however, this time, the automobile tech inform me of the problem with car and noted that jeep is aware of this issue with the 2.4l 4 cylinder engines. those particular engines are also in the chrysler 200.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. when the contact parked the vehicle, it failed to restart. when the contact made another attempt, the vehicle restarted. the failure occurred several times. the contact also stated that when the vehicle was in any gear, it jerked and made a loud noise. also, the transmission indicator blinked on and off. on another occasion, when the vehicle was started, the rpms increased very high without the accelerator pedal being pressed. jim browne chrysler jeep dodge ram of dade city (12020 us-301, dade city, fl 33525, (352) 353-0704) advised that the vehicle be brought in for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer agreed with the dealer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000.
Car stalling at low speed and also at stop. takes several attempts to get moving again. went in for service and car virtually out of oil. was not even close to needing an oil change. less than every 1000 miles there is an oil loss of atleast a quart needing to be added at oil consumption test. extremely dangerous to drive and any type of resolution feels worlds away when our safety is jeopardized.
Air conditioning suction/discharge hose split and blew off the engine causing loss of air conditioning cooling while in motion on the highway. recall #r57 clearly shows a recall for this hose being placed too close to the manifold and posing a fire risk or air conditioning loss or warning light. chrysler states this vin is not included in the recall although it states 2015 jeep cherokee vehicles are affected and this model is in fact a 2015 jeep cherokee. we would like to request to be considered for a reimbursement for this repair. although we feel our previous repair in may of 2018 was also related to this same recall we would like to be considered.
Driving along with vehicle in motion, the engine stalls out and continues to roll, but does not operate. car must come to a complete stop, rest and then try to restart - very dangerous on the highway. a message comes on stating "vehicle must be in gear to shift" or something close to that - but there has been no shifting on my part at all. this stalling has put me in very dangerous conditions because cars coming from behind and around me have no warning of the stalled out engine either. it takes about 3 or 4 minutes to restart the engine. dealership says this is an oil consumption issue and its something to do with the pistons. another jeep service manager said the engine needs to be replaced. its still under warranty. i fear that we're going to get hit (my daughter and i) and meanwhile, we do not have other transportation and i'm going to be paying on this for 4 more years. there is a lot of information on other people having the same complaints on the internet. for now, the dealership is doing an oil consumption test which is related to the engine problems known on other vehicles. with this many people having the same problem, this should be a recalled engine.
Burn of oil at roughly a qt per 1000 miles, less than recommended oil change mileage. effects engine. shuts engine off while driving and takes 3-5 minutes before car can start again. very dangerous as it happens at any speeds and car completely locks up.
When at a complete stop and the "auto start/stop" is engaged (when the engine cuts power to save on gas consumption), and you let your foot off the brake to accelerate, the vehicle dash chimes and flashes quickly on the dash "blind spot alert temporary unavailable."
While driving, i've had two problems. one where when my transmission shifts from 4th to 5th the whole vehicle hits really hard. it's a very sudden and hard jerk. the second problem is, today, we were driving and at the beginning of acceleration, the jeep shifted into neutral by itself.
When going from a complete stop to accelerating, the vehicle is non-responsive to or delayed response to the depression of the gas pedal. this is especially dangerous when turning in intersections and stop signs. this is in on going issue and has happened on numerous occasions.
Start and stop function stops working after a couple months start and stop light comes on with check engine light comes on.
I've had to replace my low beams 10+ times this year. they keep shorting our. also have to have my engine thermostat replaced even though it's working fine. it's electrical keeps causing my check engine light to come on. and the fix is replacing something that is fully working. and because my check engine light is on i can't makw it through deq to get tags for my car. this is the 3rd (separate) electrical problem i've had with this car and i'm done. keep should stand up for their product.
Car stalls and powers off. *dt*jb
Check engine light comes on, codes are u1504, u1412, u0001, u1110, u1120, will not shift, 4wd temporary unavailable message comes on , stability traction light comes on, all shifter gear lights are on, this had happened 7 times since i purchased this jeep, engine has cut a couple of times during all of these issues!
When shifting the service shifter error comes on and all the lights on the shift light up red. you have to stop the vehicle, put it in park, turn off the vehicle, and then finally restart it before the error will go away. the error will also occur while driving which then removes the speedometer from the dash and only displays the error until the vehicle has been turned off and then back on again.
The oil filter housing cracked.
Vehicle keeps stalling while driving down the street in motion
Service brake system keeps coming on after multiple times taking it to the dealer and then fixing it . it won't let me drive the vehicle and has slammed the brakes on me while the car was moving . i've looked up and i am not the only one have this problem with the jeep .
