Problems with 2015 Jeep Cherokee UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2015 Jeep Cherokee starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 30 034 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Service shifter keeps coming on. i've tried taking it to see what the problem was but it's always off when i take it and they tell me that they can't fix the problem if it's not communicated that it has one!

I was driving on the freeway going 60 miles per hour when l heard a loud bang. my car shook violently causing me to swerve. i then heard the wind coming in from my moonroof . i immediately pulled off the freeway to assess what had happened. there was a huge hole in my moonroof with the rest of the glass protruding upward. nothing hit my moonroof it had exploded.

Service shifter light came on at 86,000 miles, went off after turning my vehicle off. took to the dealership and they see nothing wrong, no codes, nothing. it jerks a lot when at slow speeds pulling out somewhere and going down a hill.

I have a "service shifter" error illuminating on my screen and all the lights illuminate on the shift itself. i turn the car back off and the lights go away, but they always come back on. there are multiple people online reporting the same issue. there are forums everywhere about this. many people take it to the dealer and get it fixed and it doesn't fit the problem, just creates new ones so they are wasting their money. my issue happens when my car is in park. not while moving.

The vehicles service shifter comes on while parked and or driving (both highway and city) locking the dash as well as lighting up the gears. needs replaced, if it's not it'll lock up and prevent the car from being put into park or other gears.

The shifter lights up red in all drive numbers and letters, when driving and sitting still, have to turn off engine then it stops. i dont want problems with this other people have had to change shifters, i should not have to do this, it was an expensive vehicle!!

Service shifter light continues to come on it hapoens while the vehicle is stationary and motion at different times at first it would come on then when i turn the vehicle off and restart it would not be on however for the pass week it comes on more frequently it occurs whether im driving on city streets or highway

Car shifts really hard and then, today when driving in the middle of the road with my toddler in the car my car shut off and said shift to park . finally turned back on .

I was driving on the interstate between 60 and 80 pmh and out of nowhere the service shifter popped up on the dashboard screen and then all the lights on the shifter lit up red ( like a christmas tree) and i lose complete function of the shifter all together. this has happened 8 times in the 15 months i have owned this vehicle.

Vehicle has a mind of it's own when in gear. when trying back out of places it jerks uncontrollably. its also does this when waiting idle at a stop sign or light. it will jerk forward as soon as you let off the brake and other times it won't go at all when accelerating. 3 times now it has just completely shut itself off when i'm gear for no apparent reasons at all. i try now not to drive it all because it's not safe. i've kept it up to date on all the computer updates through a certified jeep dealership including all the oil changes and required maintenance. the dealership says it has to do with the transmission but can offer no true fix through jeep.

2015 jeep cherokee latitude 4 wheel drive. it is under warranty for transmission, etc. using oil, ( evaporates?) and is a known issue with this make model and year. called jeep and was advised to get it into service immediately due to known issues, but they would not allow me to make a complaint. jeep has been trying to stall out while driving, at stops, hard shifts, brake comes on automatically, completely stopped in the middle of the road while driving, and oil has somehow disappeared from it, but no leaks.

Car transmission seems to be faulty. when accelerating it would stop rising in rpm and speed and afterwards would kick back and make a noise like something hitting.

Power train/engine recall. i brought my vehicle to the dealership to let them know my vehicle accelerated when i applied my brakes and it does this all the time. they said it was some module that needed to be adjusted or updated and the problem was not fixed. the problem is not fixed and it just the other night while driving down the road i applied my brakes because a car pulled out in front of me and the jeep lunged forward then slowed down. this is an ongoing issue amongst others with jeep cherokees because i have asked my neighbor and others ive met with jeep cherokee's and they have all mentioned this happens to them as well. it is in the jeep forums, why is this issue not fixed, to be honest i don't feel safe driving my vehicle. i'm in the military and have to drive over 60 miles per day to and from work and this is unacceptable. it happens pretty much every time i drive the vehicle.

My automatic rear hatch stopped working after a small amount of water from a cooler leaked in my "trunk". i checked the fuse for the hatch and it blew, i swapped it out and smoke began to pour from the rear of my jeep (the trunk) then a fire erupted, severely damaging my cherokee. the jeep was in my driveway and due to the fire being near the gas tank i had to drive it to the street out of fear it would hurt my family. there is a recall re: the hatch motor module getting wet and causing a fire which i had performed in 2016. this part is faulty and almost harmed me/family and now i am out my deductible and car rental costs. no one from chrysler or jeep will call me back.

On the gear shift all lights are on and a warning comes up on panel saying gear shift needs servicing. took to dealer and they didn't no what it was or how to fix. it went off when i cut car off and back on but now it's coming on all the time. it scares me and i can't keep taking to a dealer to charge me and it's not fixed.please get jeep to do a recall and fix this. this happens when it's driving

Car went into ' limp' mode. traction control went off, message, 4-wheel drive is not available. my car lost power and i haft to use manual mode to shift. dealer stated , that even though i gave them the trouble codes, they could not duplicate problem. service shifter, light came on but when i restart it goes away

Service shifter error when driving on the dashboard will block completely on the highway.

At 28,000 miles my jeep cherokee had the service shifter light come on periodically and it would just disappear when the car was restarted. no one was able to research the error because it would not remain on and there was no documentation in the manual on how to resolve. at 40,000 miles the error became more frequent and at 42000 miles it became constant. i took it to the dealer today and they said it was a shifter component and they were ordering a bezel to install at a very expensive cost. every jeep forum shows that many people are having the same exact issue and i think it should be investigated.

On route 80 vehicle dwnshifted, power steering and brakes affected. mileage 9604 july 2, 2019. vehicle towed. august 30, 3019 it happened again but was less than 1 mile away, drove it there picked up vehicle on 9-11-2019. mileage 9817. drove it 30 miles and came home. 7 hours later., same issue and was only 2 blocks from my house. vehicle towed again stating service anti lock brakes service transmission, change oil, service parking brake, 4wd unavailable, check engine light, anti skid light on would not shut off. steering, transmission and brakes affected. this vehicle is not safe. same issue in all 3 instances, so they are obviously not correcting the problem. there should at least have recalls on these vehicles. service records are attached.

Service shifter notification comes on the dashboard. a search of the web finds this is a common problem and that jeep doesn't know what the issue is. seems like enough is happening to warrant a recall.

For the third time i have had the service shifter light come on the car only has 36,000 miles. there is also significant issues with the drive train, shifting , making a fan humming sound and the car not accelerating and hitting top rmps in the red. my car previously was at a jeep dealership and they claim nothing is wrong, computer reset and issues are still occurring

Engine was completely replaced, also the ac compressor broke right after the engine was replaced. there has been recalls on 75k other jeep cherokees, same year.

While in motion, i would get a message on the dashboard saying "service shifter." i've seen this message pop up about 10 times now within a the last 6 month span. i've gotten it from the dealership in 2017. my vehicle is at 75k miles.

Service shifter message all lights on gear box all lit no change when out into gear

Service shifter service shifter keeps popping up as i'm driving. streets and highway.

I was making a right hand turn off of clove rd. all of a sudden there was a thunk and i couldn't accelerate beyond 2mph, check transmission and check engine light came on. put it in park and it kept rolling. a helper had the computer and it read power control module.

I started my car up when the car accelerates the car completely stops in traffic the check engine light nor battery light came on

While driving occasionally feels like the transmission bangs and it makes a loud noise. when stopped and put in reverse to back up there is a significant hesitation before transmission engages and ability to reverse. a couple of times, parked in driveway, car warmed up, put car in drive and it felt like it was stuck, the engine revved but the car didn't move, i put the car in park and back in drive, it finally felt like it broke loose- literally and i was able to drive. these things happen periodically.

Air conditioner stopped working. upon further investigation, mechanic informed me the problem originated from a faulty evaporator system. currently, the repair estimates is over $2000 due to replace the evaporator, compressor and freon. based on jeep blogs, it has been identified that jeep has been aware of this faulty evaporator problem, but will not take responsibility. per jeep blog, another grand cherokee owner wrote: dealer's service writer immediately told me that 85% of the time when the a/c goes out in this vehicle it's the evaporator inside the car behind the dash. upon further examination by the repair technician that's what needed to be replaced. i asked if they replace the evaporator with the same part and he said no, they now use a different sku replacement evaporator. obviously, jeep is aware of this problem and has made changes to fix it.

Well in drive the car turned into neutral just didn't go anywhere only had the car for about two thousand miles bought the car used 2015 one year ago from westbury jeep it's a jeep cherokee latitude 2015. been in the shop 5 times already

I was driving and slowing down when my car completely shut off in traffic on a busy 1 lane road. i put car in park and tried restarting. car would not start, no power what so ever, no hazard lights, steering wheel did not lock, key would not pull out of ignition, and my car would not disengage from park. literally parked in the road. we were able to pop the gear shifter and put car into neutral and push my car to a parking lot. i put the car back in park and started it and the car lurched forward violently. dealer said the issue was because i had a new battery installed in my car recently.

Frequently the message "service shifter" lights up on my dashboard and all the gear lights on the shifter light up. this happens usually after i start the car. sometimes i turn it back off and restart the car and it goes away, but a few times it has stayed on my entire drive.

Wheel hubs all.defective will not come.off , no spare tire was included with purchase dealer promised for 2 hrs to get a spare tire for trunk of jeep , and never did just excuses , during routine service under warranty i was noticed 2 months ago all when hubs are defective dealer tuttle click jerp irvine ca refused to repair without cost demanded $300 to.replace other tittle dealer in san juan said is june 2019, dealers job to repair because all keeps hubs defective 2015.

Service shifter light coming on, hesitation in drive, all red lights around shifter on red. vehicle serviced previously for computer issues. 40k miles. warning lights came on driving from fl to pa in sc appx 300 miles, shut off vehicle and restarted lights were not on. after driving appx 200 miles warning lights came back on in va. stopped and restarted no lights on in wv or pa. outside temperature difference from sc to wv 40 degrees cooler. drove thru pa and nj for 5 days no issues. left nj and drove to nc with no issues. in nc after driving appx 200 miles service shifter light came on in sc with outside temperature plus 40 degvrees from nj. shut off vehicle and restarted and no further issues.

First this happened 3/6/2019 the vehicle shut off dead on a main rd could not start it for about 5 minutes or so. got it going . then yesterday 3/9/19 the same thing with my daughter driving dead stop engine not running as driving again took awhile to start it up, got it back home heard a sound as you put the car in gear clicking noise then i put it back in park the vehicle rolled back once in park never happens before. i looked up recalls people have had the same exact issue identical to mine, problem a wire was crimped and software needed updating. done know if this was ever fixed bought this used a year and a half ago. the car is not that old only has 47k miles on it. i see no recalls now but there was one van it be brought in on that recall i am speaking of?? car both times were on a city street coming to a stop when the car shut off abruptly both time we had traffic coming from behind us.

Service shifter

Rear control arm loose, knuckle in arm damages and rear both new rear tires damaged. the rear end had no torque, traction or control and was swaying from side to side. the vehicle is currently being repaired for $2400.00

The car jerks real hard when shifiting pass second, has a problem with accelerating after coming to a complete stop and it sometime jerk once you get pass 35miles a hour nd sometimes it want let you go pass 40miles a hour.

Service shifter message keeps pop up randomly. it started at around 70,000 miles. once the car is turned off and back on the message goes away. there seem to be a lot of complaints about this issue with jeep cherokee. is there going to be a recall?

Floorboard on drivers side was soaked took to dealer and they can't figure out what the problem is, also my windshield gets frosted from the inside windshield when parked at night

Shifter service warning continuously pops up on the dash board while all lights blink red on the stick shifter. this happens daily, sometimes the car will not shift out of it's current gear while in motion which is a massive liability and danger to everyone on the road. i had the shifter replaced at 27,000 miles and the warning light returned again at 40,000 miles. there is now an "electrical" wiring issue. after research, it appears as though this is a manufacturing issue and certain aspects were recalled but not the entire shifter. if i were traveling at a higher rate of speed when the shifter locked up i would be dead. each time the warning appears, you must pull over within a minute or so before it locks up, turn the car off and restart it. the message disappears and the car operates normal for a short time. this needs to be investigated.

Numerous transmission issues ranging from shifting errors to rough shifting, and recently, automatic engine shutoff no longer works. despite chrysler's transmission recalls, the issues continue. the latest issue, on/off switch, has no solution according to the dealer. and they have submitted a star report for assistance. that was after 5 days of holding on to the car.

Cruise control will be set and either be going 5mph+ faster than what it's set at, or not shut off when turned off . also, consistently having 'service shifter' come on , and the shifter will stop working and lock in the gear it's in or lock when put in park and not shift to another gear.

Car seems to down shift, shift into nuetral, shift or jump out of gear. service shifter light keeps coming on.has happened while vehicle was in motion on a city street.

Just purchased 2015 cherokee, when first accelerating it hesitates and seems to not shift correctly and then eventually "kicks in" and jerks hard. causes major issues while in traffic. also sounds like its going to shut off when sitting stationary and idling.

As i was driving to work this morning, i heard a "ding" which directed my eyes to the screen on my dashboard. i had a message that said "car must be stopped to shift" "shift into park". already confused, my car shifted into neutral by itself, the steering wheel locked up, and i lost total control of my car. this is not okay. i turned my hazards on and turned off my car completely. while still in the middle of the road, i had to wait a total of 5 minutes before my car would turn on again. i have researched this, and i am not the only one this has happened too. jeep needs to take responsibility for this, as they claim they are the most awarded american suv. this has happened to me twice now.

Periodicallly, car will not start at first. when it does, it says service transmission. transmission jumps and will not shift into second. when it is so shift, the transmission dies. i have to stop, put it in park and start over.

Key fobs don't work as they should. remote start only works occasionally , indicates "key fob not detected" when i am trying to start the car although i am holding the fob in my hand, won't open the door when i touch the door handle or push "unlock", won't open the tail gate etc. sometimes the fob will work but not often. new batteries have been installed.

Transmission bangs very hard when shifting around 40 miles per hour. if traveling up an incline it seems to worsen the force of the bang. also has a stutter when accelerating from a stop in 1st gear thru 2nd gear.

Cpsc: i purchased a pedal commander product september 21, 2018 to assist my 2015 jeep's acceleration. the module is a pass through electronic device that is installed between the accelerator pedal. *dt o the user can select 4 'modes' that will provide a better response when the gas pedal is depressed. *dt the consumer stated a pedal commander device was installed in the vehicle. the device failed while driving the vehicle in eco/city mode. *js*jb
