Problems with 2015 Jeep Cherokee ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Since 2015 when the jeep was purchased i have had several times when the rpms would go up to 3 or 4 and i was not accelerating the gas when it happened. it acted like transmission problems . the jeep dealer could not fine anything wrong and would update the computer, it would last for several months and then the same thing would happen. on saturday february 8th 2020 i parked the car in a parking lot and returned 3 hours later to a car that would not start , lights would work and the battery appeared dead. i got a hotshot to try to start the car. it did start but there was no power steering , no power brakes, the engine was running rough and the lights were clicking off and on. the code stated service transmission restart in park with vehicle at zero speed. and would change to service park brake. when i turned off the car it would turn on again and it was towed to the jeep dealer and they will look at it on monday feb, 10th. i will know more at that time.

Service shifter notification keeps coming on.

While driving the car will shut off completely, locking the steering wheel and rendering the brakes and the gas ineffective... the first time i was driving 65mph on the freeway and it shut off. luckily there was no one on the road, i was able to coast to a stop, shift to park, and restart the engine... it proceeded to happen multiple times, no matter how fast i was driving.

Driving along, "service transmission" light came on. at the next red light, when i proceeded to go, engine revved up and the car moved extremely slow like it wasn't in gear. this happen every time i stopped and started on the return home and the light went out. i drove it again and the same thing happen. had it serviced at dealer and they said it was a short in wiring harness that goes to the transmission control module. see code s55 pertaining to transmission may shift unexpectedly to neutral. 2014 & 2015 jeep cherokee dated aug. 6, 2106.

I was leaving my neighborhood yesterday morning when my jeep shut off without any warning or check engine lights and would not start. thankfully i was still close to home and was able to go home in neutral! what if i were on the highway? or in the middle of an intersection! the screen said to put vehicle in park. the radio and lights still work but it does not start. i am financing this jeep and have had it for 8 months from a dealership. i dont have an extended waranty and i dont know how to handle this... i looked up on carcomplaints.com and found identical complaints to mine of theyre new jeeps just shutting off mid drive. this needs to ba addressed. im terrified of this car.

I purchased vehicle november 2018 and have recently noticed as of december 2019 my vehicle would stall, shift, and cut off in the middle of driving which very dangerous not only to myself, kids, and others around me in traffic.

Shuts off after starting, display screen blacks out and radio doesn't work, engine light and brake lights come on and off. heat and air conditioning settings keep resetting to halfway between hot and cold. shuts off and slams into park or neutral. gears drop heavily when shifting from park to drive. computer keeps resetting. these things usually occur after starting and pulling away. you need to stop and restart the jeep. these things have also occurred at 65mph. this has steadily been getting worse over the last 4 months.

Since purchasing 2015 jeep cherokee it has been more at the dealers than my home. it has been a nightmare, problems with transmission, sensors, and radio etc. it has been replaced numerous times for substantial defects and it continues to do so. this falls under the lemon law. it's getting to the point i am seeking an attorney, if my warranty is not extended and this is not fix at no charge to me. last night the jeep stop in the middle of the freeway almost caused an accident with warnings of (shift to p then desired gear) and service airbag system. this is my life you are playing with, for you're on going defects. i am a loyal jeep customer. i have a jeep wrangler, jeep compass and sebring chrysler. all i am asking is for my piece of mind and not worry about paying for anything when i have a defected and it's not safe to drive. please respond and solved this problem asap. thanks again and have a bless day.

I was driving down the freeway when another driver alerted me there was a small fire coming from under my car. i pulled over into an empty lot and when i looked under the car i saw flames from under the vehicle. i stepped back and within minutes the entire front engine was consumed with flames.

April, 2019: every thing on the dash lit up. car started to roll and we had to jump out of the car to stop it. it wouldn't go into park, but parking brake worked for a while. car wouldn't turn off, locks wouldn't work. nothing worked. towed to dealer with jeep on the whole way. a 18 month old child was with us. dangerous. repair did a tcm fix and said this was a catastrophic event that would not happen again. october 2, 2019. pushed the start button ' car started but couldn't push down on brake. couldn't move out of park. would turn it off and it would turn right back on. had it towed to dealer - have not heard back. in addition have had transmission issues for last two years. car lurches when going around 30 mph, stalls a bit when just starting out driving from a stopped position

Car has been stutter starting. once it finally starts i get an error code that says service park breaks service transmission. then when putting jeep into gear the transmission will shift hard and you can feel the car jerk and hear a clunking sound. once you stop and turn the car off and back on a couple of times the error messages will go away and jeep will drive normally. two days ago jeep had been driving normal. i stopped to get gas. after filling my tank i returned to the car to start it and the car would not start after inserting and turning the key i would not get a click or nothing. i also had no lights, not on the dash or out side of the car. after trying to jump start the car unsuccessfully i ended up having the car towed home. once home the battery was removed and taken to be tested. i was told the battery was bad so i replaced the battery and jeep started up fine however after starting i received the error message service park break and jeep again would shift really hard. error message went away jeep started ro drive fine. drove to the doctor and when i pulled into parking space jeep got stuck in neutral. finally got the jeep to go into gear and went to drive back home and jeep would not shift right and again jumped into neutral where it got stuck. finally got home and parked jeep waiting to get it into the dealer now. jeep has 95000 miles on it.

I was driving on interstate and stepped on brakes because cars were slowing down when i began to brake the engine shut off. message said shift to park and start engine. cars were honking. i did what it read and it took seconds but turned back on. it took some explaining to the dealership after my personal research in waiting room for 4 hours. they found the codes?? it happened again but more seriously on a toad with traffic moving i stepped on brakes to make a left turn but it turned off! cars slammed on their brakes. i did what message said it took longer this time. i pulled into a parking lot and it turned off again when i stepped on brakes to park. i can't get a dealership to help me?? tomorrow i'm going back to the original service department that found the codes in january. this is scary.

My automatic rear hatch stopped working after a small amount of water from a cooler leaked in my "trunk". i checked the fuse for the hatch and it blew, i swapped it out and smoke began to pour from the rear of my jeep (the trunk) then a fire erupted, severely damaging my cherokee. the jeep was in my driveway and due to the fire being near the gas tank i had to drive it to the street out of fear it would hurt my family. there is a recall re: the hatch motor module getting wet and causing a fire which i had performed in 2016. this part is faulty and almost harmed me/family and now i am out my deductible and car rental costs. no one from chrysler or jeep will call me back.

My 2015 jeep cherokee trailhawk when starting the vehicle or driving the red lights on the shifter will all turn on and the instrument cluster with display a service shifter screen. sometimes when the vehicle is parked i can shut off the car and turn the car back on and reset other times will it reset.

While in motion, i would get a message on the dashboard saying "service shifter." i've seen this message pop up about 10 times now within a the last 6 month span. i've gotten it from the dealership in 2017. my vehicle is at 75k miles.

On 5/23/19 and 5/27/19 vehicle loses power while driving, engine shuts down, steering locks and the dash lights up with a message that says put vehicle and "park" and then select desired gear. i have small children. this has happened twice in the last month.i keep my vehicle up to date on maintenance/service. i read over 100 people's exact same complaints on line. it doesn't make sense that i am paying a car payment, have less than 45,000 miles on my vehicle, and having these kind of safety concerns. today, my car died with no warning on a busy road, gives me approximately 10 seconds to pull to safety before there is no speed/ability to manuever the vehicle. it is ridiculous that the risk is so high, and the number of complaints listed on line show a serious issue with this among hundreds of vehicles by jeep and nothing. the dealerships/service continue to make comments like "we were unable to replicate the issue". to be specific: driving at about 25 miles per hour, straight following a right or left turn. . . . lost power. lights went on the dash, message above appeared. it took two tries to restart to get me out of the middle of the road. i had my crank shaft sensor replaced on 5/8/19 due to car stalling. now my vehicle completely shuts off in the middle of traffic this is a safety issue. please fix it before someone gets seriously injured.

The 2015 jeep cherokee latitude 44..shut down in moving traffic .dash stated to put car in park to shift gear.vehicle was already in gear.vehicle started back up and i made it to a gas station where it shut down at the pump.vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. this is the third time since i purchased the vehicle it had to be towed for shutting down in motion. i bought the car brand new in may of 2015. has 51k miles on it now. also it shifts iraticly. the cruise control accelerates on it's own. something must be did one or people will get hurt .

2015 jeep cherokee latitude 4x4 - received a notification on dashboard that reads "service shifter" all the lights on the gear turn on red. it came out a couple of months ago, but it went away. now this time, it is not going away. i can turn off and turn on the car but as soon as i go to move, all the lights come out red and the notification won't go away. the car will sometimes take a bit to accelerate and once it does it goes off fast and putting me in danger of hitting the car in front of me.

I was driving and slowing down when my car completely shut off in traffic on a busy 1 lane road. i put car in park and tried restarting. car would not start, no power what so ever, no hazard lights, steering wheel did not lock, key would not pull out of ignition, and my car would not disengage from park. literally parked in the road. we were able to pop the gear shifter and put car into neutral and push my car to a parking lot. i put the car back in park and started it and the car lurched forward violently. dealer said the issue was because i had a new battery installed in my car recently.

Frequently the message "service shifter" lights up on my dashboard and all the gear lights on the shifter light up. this happens usually after i start the car. sometimes i turn it back off and restart the car and it goes away, but a few times it has stayed on my entire drive.

Service shifter message keeps pop up randomly. it started at around 70,000 miles. once the car is turned off and back on the message goes away. there seem to be a lot of complaints about this issue with jeep cherokee. is there going to be a recall?

When at a complete stop and the "auto start/stop" is engaged (when the engine cuts power to save on gas consumption), and you let your foot off the brake to accelerate, the vehicle dash chimes and flashes quickly on the dash "blind spot alert temporary unavailable."

I've had to replace my low beams 10+ times this year. they keep shorting our. also have to have my engine thermostat replaced even though it's working fine. it's electrical keeps causing my check engine light to come on. and the fix is replacing something that is fully working. and because my check engine light is on i can't makw it through deq to get tags for my car. this is the 3rd (separate) electrical problem i've had with this car and i'm done. keep should stand up for their product.

At multiple, seemingly random times, warning lights flash regarding transmission and other car functions, engine stops and temporarily won't restart. on restart transmission jumps hard. software has been updated and dealer reports no recall on this vehicle. so far has just happened while stationary.

Leaking in liftgate caused all electrical instruments to fail electronic emergency brake power sun roof stop/start module head lights fog lights speedometer

Check engine light comes on, codes are u1504, u1412, u0001, u1110, u1120, will not shift, 4wd temporary unavailable message comes on , stability traction light comes on, all shifter gear lights are on, this had happened 7 times since i purchased this jeep, engine has cut a couple of times during all of these issues!

Driving up grade coming to a stop, then starting again, the transmission spins then bangs into gear, a violent movement. and now my car is just stalling. usually when starting out down a grade after taking my foot off accelerator, car stalles

Check shifter message. while driving. all the lidhts on the console light up. (p.r,n,d,s ) intermittenet problem and seems to be weather related (temperature change), the dealer has flashed the computer so the check engine light will not come on or register a code. this has been going on now for over a year. dealer can't duplicate the problem.the vehicle is now out of warranty. currently at 27300 miles.

An alert message reads "service shifter" across dash message center while driving. . the gear shift will light up every gear and neither clear off unless i pull over and kill the engine. the message does not store in the "error message" reporting system and i have been told from the dealership i purchased from as well as another that there is no recall and nothing can be done since the message isn't stored. i'm reading reports of these make/models locking up the steering and causing crashes.

Since i bought my jeep in august 2016 and since i've gotten it the message 'service shifter' pops up on my screen. i've taken it back to the dealership numerous times and they can't find anything wrong with it. it's gotten to the point now the message pops up every other day. i have a son and i do not want something malfunctioning while i'm driving down the road putting my family's life in danger! this needs to be fixed.

In response to issues below, dealer diagnosed that a bcm, part no "68236667ai", was not responding to tests and needed replacement. we drive with windows down and a/c on at times. under these conditions i have felt water from condensation hit my feet in the driver side floor and i think it is likely that this part was damaged from that condensation. this bcm should have a sealant around it or be in a better location if the a/c is going to drip in the car. resulting problems from electrical bcm failure that are ongoing for last month because part is back ordered: 2018/09/16 keyless entry works, but only when using the passenger door. then stopped and left vehicle, afterward electric locks would not work from inside, keyless entry would not work, and doors would not lock when vehicle surpassed 15 mph. 2018/08/30 at night, after exiting vehicle keyless entry unresponsive, hazard lights turned themselves on, hatch would not lock. throughout all these days for approximately three weeks, the keyless entry, electric locks, memory seats, and radio presets may or may not lock. there was another time where the rear hatch power did not work and it also did not latch itself. we were moving when we discovered the hatch did not latch itself and after several attempts, it did respond and pull itself latched. the hazards and lights not responding and staying on, doors not locking over 15 mph, and hatch not latching are all safety concerns. the part to repair this came in yesterday, the issue was reported around a month ago.

While driving car home from work in sunny weather conditions, the cars dash beeped and lit up with the battery warning. my car stopped exelerating but all of the electrical in the car still worked. after trying to get it to turn over again it just rattled. i was able to get a jump and head home where we looked deeper into the problem. we finally took it to a mechanic who said that the starter, battery, alternator were all working and in good condition and had no clue why it would have died on me for no reason. i do not feel safe driving my child around on the highway or any busy/construction areas if my car could stop on a dime without warning. not fixing this problem could result in someone getting hurt or even killed.

Start/stop failing to work or works when it shouldn't. i took my jeep to the local dealer 4 or 5 times. one visit they kept it for 3 days. they even talked to chrysler regarding this issue. so they replaced the battery for this. didn't help. now the warning still comes on at different times. sometimes it doesn't shut down at all when i come to a complete stop and sometimes it does. i also noticed the jeep not shifting right. this has happened 5-6 times. not sure if one thing is connected to another but i am very concerned. i have my 3 grandchildren in the jeep often and don't like this faulty issue. what are my options?

The vehicle has repeatedly come up with a "service shifter" message since i purchased it in dec of 2015 new. the dealership replaced the shifter assembly, but the problem kept happening. they kept flashing the software and telling me it was fine. at the end of july 2018, i took my vehicle in for an oil change and to have the headlight researched because it had begun to flicker along with one of the two license plate lights. the dealership told me that the headlight and the lisence plate lights went out at the same time by coincidence. i tried to contact jeep/chrysler directly and explain there was a bigger problem but they wouldnt listen. days later, i stopped for gas, shut off the car and filled the tank. when i got back in the car wouldnt start. i kept trying to turn it on but it wouldnt make a sound. finally, after about 25 minutes the car turned on. once on, error messages light up my dash: service shifter, service parking break, service engine, service transmission, and others. i tried to shift into gear but it shifted hard and sounded like the transmission was going to drop. the car wouldnt move. towed the car to dewey dodge. they flashed it, told me it was fine, and made me come get it and wouldnt look further. 24 hours later, i was stranded again, car wouldnt start. towed it again. they told me it was the battery, even though they had previously told me they did a 27pt inspection and it was fine a day prior... they had my car for 2 months. once i got it back, i had it for only a few days and i was stuck again. after about 30 minutes the car turned on, and i was able to try to drive home. while on highway, service shifter appeared again. dewey replaces the wiring harness and the shifter again. chrysler refuses to acknowledge a widespread issue even though multiple online forums have a collection of people detailing the same problems!

Today being 7/26/2018. today my vehicle just shut down while coming to a stop sign in the morning, and again in the afternoon when making a u-turn. and for about 2 weeks before, a few times i felt the engine attempt to shut off when coming to stop signs and lights, which the vehicle shaking would take place and the motor sounded like it was going to die. in the case of transmission, for the past month in random moments while stopped at an incline or turning onto an incline street, the gears would delay shifting into the next gear, and it would sound like rpm was reaching higher than normal rotations before actually shifting into the next gear, the car jerking from the catch. all events occurred while vehicle was in motion, on streets, both when turning or stopping, or incline climb involved.

Went to start car wouldn't start or turn over. received jump from roadside assistance and waited 20 min before attempting to drive to the nearest auto zone (2 miles). once i started driving the dashboard lights started flickering and as soon as i came to a red light at a very busy 3 lane intersection i was in the middle lane and my car shut off & wouldn't turn back on. at this point, my only option was to sit without any power, therefore no hazard lights, and wait for someone to hit me as i was unable to leave my vehicle due to high risk of being hit by a car. during the terrifying time of waiting eventually i did get hit. which caused a three car accident & pile-up on this very busy road. i was the front vehicle and my jeep is probably totaled and i will be going to doctor tomorrow, the middle vehicle received the most damage & the passengers were hurt & went to hospital, the 3rd vehicle (truck) was very damaged but the driver was not injured. i then called 911 & we filled out a police report & my car was towed & the police drove me home like a criminal. this accident was caused by my jeep's electrical malfunction. i do not currently see a recall for anything by vin or by make/model. please address this immediately as i do not want others to be effected as i was at the fault of jeep. *dt*jb

After i turn key off the engine refuses to start back up when i turn the key on. it has died twice like this at the drive up window of a restaurant.

Since vehicle was first purchased in dec 2014, the autostart feature occasionally completely stalls vehicle when stopped at sign, at a traffic light or stopped in heavy transit and will not turn back on to continue trip. i have to turn off key remove key and exit vehicle to reset. i have almost been run over, impacted by other oncoming vehicles on the highway or by vehicles trying to get around me at a light or stop sign. i have reported it several times to dealer whitten bros in richmond va and ashland va but have been ignored and they have refused to document occurrences. and dismissed my allegations. i have had over 12 incidents in the last 3 years in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, in the city, suburbs and highways. my most recent occurrence date is posted below *js updated 9/21/18*jb

My radio turns on and off as i drive when paired with a phone as an operating wireless device. it happens all the time moving or still.

Car is going into nuetral on its own same as in the s55 recall but my car is not covered under the recall per chrysler. car will have notice pop up on dash saying put car into park then switch into gear. this has happened at a stop light i could not get car in gear. i shut the car off and i could not get it to start again. it also happened after first starting the car and putting it into reverse. i had to turn car off and restart to get it to get back into gear. both times car was at a stop.

My car has exactly 50,000 miles and has been maintained impeccably to start. on march 30th after it had rained the previous day, while driving on the bonnet carre spillway going approximately 60mph my lift gate seemed to unlatch and end result my backpack containing my laptop hundreds of dollars worth of textbooks and my apple ipad flew out. when i pulled over the lift gate refused to hatch as well as the button in the car and on the fob to close the trunk would not work. not only have i lost at least $850 worth of my electronics and textbooks i am left with the risk that anyone can get in my car via the lift gate that will not close and potentially steal my car. on april 2nd 2018 after leaving work from the hospital i was driving on regular traffic roads between 35-55 miles per hour and my jeep was shifting into neautral slowing down and the rpm gauge was accelerating to 4-5 for only 35 miles per hour. i then called the dealership to find out there is a recall in which i was never notified by anyone and my vin was ineligible but if it was i would have to leave my car and pay for the expense of a rental car. i am a widowed mother and a loyal customer to jeep as this is my third jeep and i am stuck with this vehicle that is riddled with constant recalls that is unsafe for my 4 year old and 15 month child and i am on a single income and unable to pay for repair expenses or a rental car and i do not have the option to miss work or school. can you inform me why my vin is not associated with the recall and i am having all the issues that are currently recalled and why would i not be reimbursed or provided with the necessary funds to cover the repair and or a rental vehicle?
