The transmission shift hard. the downshift is bad. very poor on gas. electric problem. air bag.
While driving at full speed on i-10 west, my jeep cherokee came to a full stop forcing drivers to steer around me so as not to rear end me. it's done this 5 times since suaturday the 18th of february. it says the vehicle must be in park before releasing the brake.
My 2015 jeep cherokee spontaneously caught fire with absolutely no warning. i was driving when i smelled smoke and within 10 seconds, the engine burst into flames. i have only had this vehicle serviced at the dealership and i have had all the recalls addressed. the car is a total loss and neither the dealer nor chrysler will anything but say they are sorry...updated 02/23/17 *bf updated 03/01/17 *bf *cn
Takata recall - bad wheel bearing , loss of power, engine light. in motion!!!
Purchased brand new- at 20k miles had to have the gear shift motherboard replaced after the vehicle began to jolt when driving almost causing a wreck. it would jolt when coming to a stop or taking off. i was told it was the electrical component not relaying properly to tell the car to shift gears and what gear to shift to. i read several online forums where hundreds of people were having the same issue. that was in aug of 2016. now im having to take it in again because the check engine light is on. i do all maintenance service on time so not sure what the issue is this time but very upset that my 1st brand new car and i am experiencing issues so early on. once i take it in for the check engine light i will update this to reflect what i am told is the problem. *tr
I have a 2015 jeep cherokee sport 2.4l 4cyl. i bought it new in september of 2015. the original warranty is for 36,000 miles and at 41,000 miles, my check engine light came on. the jeep would not warm up and blew luke warm air on the hottest setting. there was also a dripping sound heard from behind the front dashboard. before i had the opportunity to take it in to the dealership for diagnosis, the electronic throttle control (etc) warning light came on. driving your jeep with the etc light on could lead to the complete engine failure. i took my jeep in on saturday to the dealership where i purchased it and they were unable to conduct a diagnosis because they only had limited staff there for the weekend. therefor i had to continue to drive my jeep for multiple days. i returned on monday and they charged me $80 to run a diagnosis. the result was a faulty thermostat. they informed me they could fix it for $550-$600 dollars. they also informed me that the part was on backorder of more than 50,000 parts across the nation and it would take a couple weeks to have the part delivered. i ordered the thermostat housing part at a cost of more than $60. the part is only $20 on-line from their part distributor, but they marked it up another $20 and charged another $20 for shipping. i was informed it would take 4 hours to replace due to its location at $118 an hour, plus the cost of coolant. since i have been waiting for my part, they would not provide me a vehicle and therefor my jeep has overheated multiple times. with over 50,000 parts on back order and this being a jeep manufacturer's defect, there should be a recall at no cost to the consumer.
The vehicle shut off when driving. after calling a jeep dealer and asking if they where having any trouble like this. i also informed the dealer that the cherokee had 36500 miles 500 over covered warranty. i was informed the work would not be covered so i took it to a local garage. was told it needs a thermostat. had to call a dealer after several attempts to locate the part. all the dealer said the part is on national back order. if the part is that popular to replace that you cant keep it in stock than there most be an issue. this vehicle is not safe if this part is causing the motor to shut off when driving down the road at highway speed. their seems to be a lot of trouble with this vehicle. i hope chrysler will not just let the issue go hoping that people just deal with it there self. been to the garage 3 times and still have 5 years to pay for it. it is enough of a problem that i thought i would take this step.called chrysler customer service first time was disconnected before i could type my massage. second time was told they could put a rush on my part gee thanks.how about just make a vehicle that will not get someone killed by shutting of on the highway. thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Car just randomly shut off in middle of a 50 mph highway, almost caused accident. it did it a couple more times before i got it looked at. dealer said it was so low on oil it shut off. but dealer also confirmed oil was not low enough to trigger the warning light and also explained it has been happening frequently with my model.
I have had the engine light come on several times and the dealer had my car for 8 hours and said it was repaired and i drove it 2 miles down the road from the shop and the engine light came back on so after 2 weeks wait it went back in and noe the dealer is saying i need a new transmission and chrysler is only willing to replace my transmission with 7500 mile on it with a remanifactured transmission which is bs.
Takata recall the vehicle is experiencing issues while shifting in lower gears 1-3. the car will rev high and give a jerk before shifting. this happens when at a stop and you begin to accelerate. this also occurs in slow moving traffic. also, it experiences issues when merging into a highway or lane traveling at speeds of 35ish. when making a turn at a stop sign the car will also hesitate and give a little jerk. i have also noticed that when traveling at 30-35 the car is in 5th gear which in return when you need to accelerate it has to down shift to take off which there is a delay before acceleration occurs. this has been on going for about 2 months.
This problem has happened 5 times last time the car shut down was on the highway with my granson in car i was teriffied
My 2015 jeep cherokee trailhawk has been back and forth to the dealer for problems i've had with acceleration and braking. i've been trying to get on the highway and step on the gas with no acceleration. there are times i'm trying to stop and it bucks almost like it doesn't want to stop. it's been back and forth with computer updates, electrical components being updated etc. this issue is still occurring. this issue happens when going up hills, down hills, on straight aways etc. it can happen when starting from a complete stop or just when accelerating while the vehicle is already in motion. i do have receipts as to what they have replaced if needed. this issue is still occurring.
Engine service light came on. while driving on the highway to our home. took the vehicle to the seller for a diagnosis. was told i need oil pressure switch replaced for $215.00. this is on a car that we have only owned for 5 months & with 39,000 miles. so we are out of warranty & according to the dealer this is a known problem but is not covered by any extended warranty. since this is known by crysler & an ongoing problem. why is there no permanent fix?
Transmission problems and electrical problems had the car at dealership at least 3 to 4 time for over a week at the time called jeep headquarters at least 20 times and they are very bad with costumer service. i am worried about the safety for my family driving the car, since transmission issues should not be handled like that. no support from jeep capital. *tr
Dealer diagnosed an oil leak from the vehicle oil filter housing, which is located on top of the engine, during a routine oil change. the oil appears to be leaking from a gasket at the base of the housing or the housing is cracked. oil pools in a valley, on top of the hot engine, while running, presenting a fire hazard. dealer was unable to repair for a week. awaiting repair under warranty.
Vehicle has had ongoing issues with engine stop start system. when lifting foot off of brake pedal from a stop, vehicle sometimes stalls and displays a "service engine stop start system" message and malfunction indicator. problem is ongoing even after multiple repair attempts.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving 65 mph, the check transmission and service engine warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle decelerated to 45 mph. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (metro jeep located at 650c memorial dr chicopee, ma 01020 877-220-8331) where it was diagnosed that an update was needed. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case number: 32118538. no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was 25,240.
At 17,000 miles, i started having issues with my cherokee. the first time the engine of the vehicle stalled on me, i was on my way to work. i powered off the engine and it successfully restarted after one attempt. i brought it to my dealership later that day to find out i was "out of oil", this was roughly 2500 miles into my most recent oil change (which is projected for 5000 miles). i was disappointed, due to the vehicle being a year old. the dealership added some oil and i was on my way. shortly after, i started noticing the engine would rev to high rpm's when the vehicle was stationary, the rpm's would increase drastically when breaking, the vehicle would jump between gears 1-3, making increasing your speed extremely difficult as you never knew when the vehicle would actually take off. my dealership was "unable to duplicate " this issue, and i was sent on my way. fast forward 9 months, and my vehicle dies on me as i am leaving work. however, this time, it took multiple attempts to restart the vehicle. i was finally able to start it by putting my foot on the gas, and any time i took my foot off of the gas, the engine would stall. i drove with two feet to the dealership that day, and found out once again i was "out of oil". the dealership recommended an "oil consumption test", which means bringing your vehicle to the dealership at various mile markers (500,1000, 2000, 2000). at this time, they would check the oil levels and refill any lost oil. through this, i found out my vehicle was "burning through" 1 quart of oil every 666.67 miles. chrysler guidelines say a vehicle of my specifications should use 1 quart in 2000 miles. this vehicle is a beautiful death trap on wheels, and such a disappointment to jeep lovers everywhere. stay away.
Transmission problems for almost a year now, truck violently jerks forward on acceleration mostly from a dead stop but sometimes in motion and on deceleration has almost caused many front and rear accidents. recently on my way home from new jersey the check engine light came on indicating service transmission the vehicle lost power while i was on the parkway almost caused an accident. i pulled over and turned off the vehicle then restarted the check engine light was still on, but i regained power to drive. that lasted a minute or two then the same thing happened. truck lost power was in a fail safe mode barely drove above 30 or 40mph. what a long, unsafe trip home to say the least. i've had nothing but problems with this truck and have numerous complaints and repairs at the dealership. now it's apart of this recall and no parts are available. the dealership says this problem is the recall, but they can't fix it yet. i've been without my truck for almost 2 weeks this is awful and i'm frustrated and fed-up with this vehicle. i want out of this lease asap. and ps they put me in a dodge dart loaner care are you kidding me i drive a truck for a reason!
Transmission was jerking and locked up when i got in my car in the morning the vehicle would not get out of the parking break. i would get tons of error messages in my instrument cluster..."service park break" "4x4 unavailable" "transmission light on". i called roadside assistance to tow my car and the tow truck driver when he turned off and on the vehicle, it was ok to drive. i drove to the dealership that day and they performed tons of software updates. my jeep was returned back to me the same day. 6 days later, it happened again. i remembered restarting the car helped, which it did, so i started driving it back to the dealership. i got about 1/4 mile down the road and the steering wheel locked up and started to shut down, while i was driving! i pulled over, restarted the car and continued to drive. this time i was in the middle of an intersection making a left turn when it happened again, and almost got rear ended by a school bus!! this was a very scary moment and decided i was no longer going to drive this car. i pulled into a parking lot and called roadside assistance. the dealership had the vehicle for a week and told me it was fixed. i received a recall in the mail, "s55 - transmission may shift unexpectedly to neutral". i called chrysler and told them i refuse to drive my call until this recall is fixed. the part is not available so i've been driving a rental for the past 3 weeks. i'm terrified to drive this car again. i drive on the expressway everyday for work and can not imagine what would happen to me if the car shuts down again unexpectedly
Delayed shifting during acceleration it has shifted roughly. when accelerating the car feels like it goes into neutral and then quickly changes into 2nd gear, causing an aggressive jerking that feels like you are getting rear ended.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving at an unknown speed, the transmission failed and the vehicle would not accelerate. the check engine and abs indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 11,772.
Lost of power we have been lucky we where not on a major hyway when this happens want to know if this vehicle can or been hacked. there are a lot of jeep cherokees on the road a lot of owners are complaining about this problem this is a very serious problem seems like nothing being done about this
I have had all kinds of electrical issues with my 2015 cherokee trailhawk 4x4 and this all happened after they did 4 upgrades on my computer at dealership, when picked up suv the check engine was on, took back to dealer and they said they flashed it what ever that means. the check engine disappeared afterwards, i have had issues with it lunging when letting foot off brake due to the auto on & off feature and just recently was driving and the air bad light, traction light, 4 wheel drive and check engine light came on i pulled over due to this and when putting in park felt like someone rear ended me in which they didnt, the 4 wheel drive light comes on with message that four wheel drive has been disabled contact dealer, that started it all that morning. then all the other lights illuminated and beeping, i took to dealer in richmond ky and they brought out the scanner and scanned it and printed off several things that was coming up then advised me they couldn't do anything to check vehicle for 2 weeks i then called lexington dealer and they said bring it in, i had it towed to lexington dealer, now they say they cant get it to duplicate anything. well now this is the issue i have intermittent electrical issues that deems this vehicle unsafe to drive because it is can shut down as others has said or catch fire or accelerate on its own etc. there is definitely issues with this vehicle that no one can explain. i have ask dealership to contact jeep mfg/chrysler to see about what they say its very scary having a vehicle that you cant trust to be safe in. its already had me rear end a car by the lunging after you let off brake now this... i just feel unsafe in my new vehicle.... i purchased this vehicle to to be a safe one. and its definitely not safe due to being intermittent electrical issues. dealers doesn't have a clue about the electrical malfunctions of these cars.
While driving, engine stops, lost power all power. driving on road in traffic. this occured 3 different times.
My jeep cherokee latitude 2015 accelerate it self . it's under warranty and the dealer can't solve the problem. when the rpm come back to 1000 you can feel how the trans jump and the car accelerate it self.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving 30 mph, the check engine and battery warning lights illuminated. in addition, the 'place the vehicle in park position' warning message displayed. the vehicle was placed into the park position and another error message illuminated stating 'place the vehicle in the desired gear'. the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts and the brake pedal was difficult to depress. the failure was intermittent. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 17,000.
Sept. 2015 i started having problems at 6 months since then i have had it back to the dealership 9 times sometimes it has to be towed in is not driveable same problem but every time i get it back the problems are worse since about the 18th of aug this year i have had the car only 9 days this is now dec 3rd it has been in the shop sometimes 3 or 4 days some times as long 3 or 4 weeks the transmission clunks like it is falling out all the lights go out will not shift it also shuts down when driving it one time in the middle of an intersection this is getting really dangerous for me as well as anyone else on the road with me i have been in touch with chrysler customer care lady named lori she says i am out of the perimeter for buy back they did not know what is wrong with this car i am making car payments and insurance on a car i can't drive and don't even ave most of the time. the dealership called me a week ago to come pick the car and when i got there it wouldn't even run to get to the front of the building to me. this has been going on for 2 1/2 years now only getting worse all of the time i am now afraid to drive this car knowing it can shut down anytime in the middle of traffic and chrysler won't do anything except keep putting it back in the shop and after 3 weeks or i go to pick it up and once again it won't run. *dt*jb
On 06/04/16, at 12,600 miles, the jeep failed completely on the freeway. we were driving 50 mph in heavy southern ca traffic when the 'transmission service required' light and the red check engine light flashed on and we lost all power. this happened instantly and without any warning. we had to throw on the hazard lights and dodge oncoming traffic to move over 3 lanes to exit the freeway at less than 5 mph. this was a terrifying experience and we are lucky the jeep did not cause a major accident! the tustin jeep dealership did a software update and said it was fine. fca has remained adamant that the problem is not mechanical, but software related and have released 3 software patches to date but we see no improvement. one week later on 06/13/16 the transmission was still functioning poorly (hard shifts, up shifting as you apply the break downhill, etc.) and then we had another problem. the alarm went off without warning and would not shut off, even when the jeep's engine was turned on. only after several minutes and pushing every button on the key multiple times did it finally stop. we took it to placentia jeep and they looked into the transmission and alarm. after having our jeep for a week, they did yet another software update for the transmission and disconnected the gps. they explained that the gps that was installed at the dealer after the fact was interfering with the factory installed alarm, and that caused the alarm to go off at random. this is a big problem because we were charged $1295 extra for that feature and it is now disconnected. the dealer also found that the battery power was below half, and they felt that the radio was pulling from the battery even when the jeep is turned off. they found no resolution for this problem and asked us to return after a week or two to reassess the problems.
Check engine light came on related to thermostat liftgate has been leaking since the beginning transmission is slipping or dragging constantly
Tl* the contact owned a 2015 jeep cherokee. the vehicle caught on fire while parked. the fire department extinguished the fire, but did not file a report. the vehicle was destroyed and towed to an independent facility. the contact was informed that the air conditioner suction/discharge hose fractured, came into contact with the exhaust manifold, and caused the fire. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v676000 (engine and engine cooling). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 11,000.
Suv shuts off in the middle of road while driving normal speed, city or highway happens both; all lights on dash are flashing, brake light comes on for no reason, alerts to check transmission, check parking brake, check engine, car jus stops and wont move but engine still sounds like it's running,, and and all other electronic gauges are flashing ...has been taken back to dealer two/three times in one month to fix but but the same problem always comes back again,. not impressed; i have owned jeeps all my life never had this problem, this suv is dangerous, i bought this car and paid $38 thousand and have 19k miles on it . i even tried to trade it in with the same dealer and was told it was only worth 17k which is less than half what i paid for it a year and a half ago! how is this even legal? why am i making car payments for a suv that chrysler knows is defective and one which they have not resolved issues ? how can chrysler get away with this ? and this is the auto manufacturer that our government financially bailed out a few year with our tax dollars? how would chrysler respond if we all quit making payments on our loans ? i have been researching thousands of other complaints, same jeep, same year, etc. i am becoming more and more convinced that chrysler really doesn't care. they got their money upfront ! furthermore they should not be allowed to continue to be in business while their products are known safety hazards to the consumer.! chuck d mount pleasant, sc
The transmission slips, stalls, hesitates at acceleration at any speed. particularly worrisome when traveling on highways when it jeopardizes our safety! happens continually despite the jeep dealerships attempts to repair. still telling us it is a software issue and a day after service problem continues. no fix.
The 2015 vehicle was parked in closed garage and key fobs was left in car cup holder. car started itself and did not turn off ran in a closed garage for over and hour. this is a real severe issue that the car should have alarmed or shut itself off after 10 minutes my family could have been dead and not be able to talk about it. luckily this was caught before harm was done. this is not a mistake that can be undone. the car also had an issue with the throttle it would rev to 3-4,000 rpms when in park after we pulled it out of the garage. couldn't be driven as it would havelost.control with the throttle sticking. car dealer says it's fixed throttle replaced and all is well. but it is not i cannot park that car in my garage and that is not acceptable for me. car dealers don't work with people, they just want to fix the recalls and for you to go away. something has to be done! people need to be taken seriously especially when. it comes to carbon monoxide levels.
The shifting on this car is terrible and i'm surprised it hasn't caused me to be in an accident. it jerks and either takes forever to shift or shifts way to hard and too fast. even just coasting in a residential neighborhood it's a hard shift between gears and i cannot believe i purchased this car. every drive is an issue and whenever i have passengers they all comment that something must be wrong with how the car shifts.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle used up a quart of oil every three thousand miles without warning. the dealer diagnosed and performed an oil change. the technician noted on the invoice that the oil filter was loose. the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure was not remedied. the failure mileage was approximately 41,633.
I was traveling on a main highway at 62 mph. suddenly the car lurched and the rpm's shot up to 4000. the car was immediately going 70 mph. i had to slam on the brakes so i didn't ram the car ahead of me.
On april 1, my family and i were headed 2 hours away for a weekend getaway. my 16 year old new driver was driving the vehicle and it bogged down and then jumped ahead while he was accelerating from 45 to 55. he was scared to death! it has happened to me numerous times, especially when accelerating from a stop light/sign. it is inevitable that i will have an accident, either rear-ending someone, or being rear ended.

Check engine light has been illuminating intermittently for the past 7 months. finally the dealer was able to identify the error code. implausable data from the transmission control module error code u0402. the dealership is stating the is safe to drive however i question what kind of damage it is doing to my transmission.
Engine shuts down stalls out while driving no warning on roadways freeways no power steering or brakes serious injury or death could be a result.
Issues began in december, 2015 with intermittent hard shifting in the lower gears when pulling out. dealer couldn't 'duplicate' same. hard shifting has gone from intermittent to pretty much all the time when pulling out, backing up and only in the lower gears. i have had the jeep to the dealership a total of 5 times, have filed a complaint with fiat/chrysler and have had no luck/response other than they can't get my car to duplicate what i say it is doing. on more than one occasion it has gotten stuck in first gear and i have had to use the slap stick to get it out of the stuck gear. shifting is almost to the point of giving me whiplash and has gotten worse.
My 2015 jeep cherokee burst into flames a week ago. i have no idea what the cause was as chrysler will not investigate it. the car was a total loss. as i was driving, the passenger in my car smelled smoke. we quickly got out of the car as we then saw smoke pouring out of the hood and within seconds it was it flames. ...updated 02/23/17 *bf.. updated 03/01/17 *bf *cn
My transmission has been slipping since i purchased the vehicle a year ago, (12-28-15) appx, they said they fixed the problem, but it has recently became worse that it was originally. when i'm stopped and then begin to start going again the car hesitates for about 3-5 seconds then it jerks and goes. it also seems to downshift on its own or not at all.
I was traveling on a major highway at 65 mph when the engine shut off. i put the jeep's transmission in neutral and it would not start. i was able to pull to the right side of the road safely since it was very light traffic. i tried starting the jeep with the transmission shifter in park and nothing happened. i removed the key fob from the start/run switch and tried locking & unlocking the car doors, and nothing happened. i tried the remote start button, and again, nothing happened. my wife gave me her key fob and the jeep started right up and ran okay. there were no lights on the dash showing any problems. when i got to my destination after another 10 minutes of travel i tried my key fob again and the jeep started okay. i used my key fob on the return trip of 67 miles with no problems. there is an unknown cause of the incident. could it be the key fob or the electronics that control engine running mode?
New 2015 jeep cherokee latitude with 4k miles on it suddenly turned itself off while driving down the road. no warning other than a message on the dash to put the car in park to change gears. very dangerous, lost control of power steering, gas and brakes. was able to put car in park on side of road, restart it and get home. it happened again the next morning and was towed to dealership. service dept. ran all updates and the car shut off on them while testing it too. has been in the shop for 2 weeks and they say it was due to excessive oil consumption and ar replacing the engine. i don't believe this to the cause; never got a warning light at all and car does restart and run after it shuts itself off. scared to drive it once i get it back again, it is really like a death trap when it shuts off. you are the mercy of all the drivers around you to get out of your way. someone is going to get hurt or get killed if they don't figure this out soon.
Since purchasing the vehicle, a jeep cherokee latitude is has shown these errors consistently. examples: the vehicle decelerates when pushed to accelerate quickly, especially when turning. it shifts hard between gears when driving, causing a jerking motion within the car - even when gently accelerating. on one occasion it has shifting into neutral while driving on the highway, which caused the vehicle to completely stop functioning. more recently, i was rear-ended at a gas station and was unaware, because i thought it was my car jerking forward upon acceleration. when reversing, the vehicle jerks backwards - after a delay. the vehicle also delays when attempting to turn the vehicle on.
