Recall s55, transaxle wire harness - we are being compelled to continue to drive a vehicle with a major safety defect. for takata airbags, the dealers brought the cars in and issued rent cars (at their expense) until the repairs could be made. why is this same practice not being followed? i received notice in the mail today so am using this date.

The transmission on this vehicle, cherokee trailhawk with 13k miles is very dangerous. like others, i have been to multiple dealers numerous times for transmission software updates which seem to fix the problem but the problem seems to be relearned by the computer and comes back worse than before. now there is a transaxle issue where all power can be lost while driving. this vehicle's transmission is bad enough with the constant lag, jerking and hesitation but now this unrepairable transaxle issue is making it very hard for me to even want to drive this incredibly unsafe vehicle. dealers say 9 speed transmission just work this way but this is the worst shifting, most dangerous vehicle i have ever driven. i am very disappointed in this jeep product and worry about anyone driving my vehicle.

Lost of power we have been lucky we where not on a major hyway when this happens want to know if this vehicle can or been hacked. there are a lot of jeep cherokees on the road a lot of owners are complaining about this problem this is a very serious problem seems like nothing being done about this

The transmissions shifts very rough, hesitates to downshift and surges when on a slight hill. this is a dangerous situation when driving into our garage or accelerating from a stop sign. *tr

All of my problems started august 30, 2016 in national city california. i went out and started my car for a trip back to yuma, as i put it in to drive i got three loud noises like the car had been hit with a sledgehammer, i also had a loss of power. i had it towed into ????? chrysler with transmission problems. three days later they told me i had a bad one-year old battery. by the time i got out of there it cost me over $500. the battery did not solve the problem. i did not have the noise anymore but i had shifting problems. (36294 miles) my first time in the shop at ?????? was october 11, 2016. followed by five more times. as of now it has been in the shop 19 days for transmission problems. not making any progress. last time in i took the drive with the transmission tech. i felt a little insulted. i brought him up to date of what has been happening in the past. i told him the problem we are having now is loss of power and hard shifting taking off from stop lights and stop signs. i told him i did not have any problems at highway speeds. the test drive consisted of a high-speed run down 32nd st. i pointed out to him a couple of hard shift his reply was this is normal for a nine-speed transmission. i have talked to a lot of people that have nine speeds and i totally got to disagree that that is normal.

Transmission problem, hard shifting. on going

Traveling on highway at approximately 65 mph about 1 hour into trip, vehicle started emitting transmission warnings and parking brake malfunction and saying to place the car in park. vehicle lost ability to accelerate even though the vehicle was in drive. vehicle only has 11,000 miles on it. driver was able to coast to the side of the highway. placed car in park and restarted - errors still emitting and shifting in to drive caused the car to jolt. tow truck was called.

Currently my 2015 cherokee trail hawk is at the dealership with an unknown powertrain issue, the check engine light came on thursday. the transmission in not so few words feels very gummy with not a lot of power in between gears. when coming to a complete stop and then accelerating the transmission will hesitate and not shift or have any power! when there is on coming traffic it is very dangerous at times. it will lurch forward when downshiftng and coming to a stop. the transmission will have very hard shifts at times or very soft shifts. it is very dangerous. *tr

While driving, engine stops, lost power all power. driving on road in traffic. this occured 3 different times.

The 9 speed zf transmission is downright dangerous! often it will not shift properly when accelerating. this has led to several instances where an accident almost occurred. also has very hard shifts and once there was no downshift and the vehicle slowed when it should have been accelerating.

At low speeds, typically taking off from a red light, the transmission wobbles (seemingly in second or third gear.) the transmission lags horribly, sometimes causing unsafe situations where acceleration is a necessity. you can't predict the acceleration in this veichle. there is an rpm spike when downshifting causing the car to accelerate up to 15 kmh (even on cruise control) the transmission "clunked" as it was downshifting going uphill accelerating. experiencing rough idle upon 1st start, and if in drive or reverse, if your foot is not firmly planted on the brake, the car will lunge forward (or backward depending on if in d or r.) respectively with the rpm. with this many complaints, you can't ignore this is an issue which needs to be dealt with.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. when the contact turned the ignition key to start the vehicle, it failed to start and the emergency brake stiffened. the vehicle started after several attempts and made a loud noise. an error message displayed on the instrument panel that read, "place the vehicle in park and then select desired gear", "service park brake", "service transmission". while driving approximately 15 to 20 mph, the gear suddenly shifted into neutral by itself and would not accelerate. the contact stated that the noise sounded and felt like the transmission was going to fall out of the vehicle. the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that eight modules needed to be updated. the eight modules were updated, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train). the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000.

My jeep cherokee latitude 2015 accelerate it self . it's under warranty and the dealer can't solve the problem. when the rpm come back to 1000 you can feel how the trans jump and the car accelerate it self.

While driving on a main blvd the jeep suddenly locked up much like the e-brake being appled, lots of weird noises. dash lit up with check transmission, brakes, and engine warnings. almost caused a major accident. turned car off, let it reset and was able to continue. happened again three days later. had jeep towed to dealer. this car is a death trap. working on a resolution with dealer.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving 35 mph, the transmission unexpectedly shifted into neutral. the failure occurred on numerous occasions without warning. the vehicle was taken to the contact's house. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 452.

The car has transmission issues. while driving the car down a city road it somehow shifted itself into neutral prompting me to place the vehicle in park before selecting drive again.. i have also had major issues while trying to merge on the highway, in which the vehicle would not shift past first gear, causing the car to get up to 6k rpm on the engine before having to completely let off the gas and wait for my speed to get below 15 miles and hour to reaccelerate in order to get the car to shift into second gear. traffic was going 70mph and i could not get the vehicle to accurate to get up to speed due to the transmission issue.. i have on 3 different occasions taken the vehicle to the dealership with complaints about the transmission and they state they are unable to duplicate the issue, and no codes have been called out showing the issue (per the dealership) however the car itself has told me i needed to shift into park while driving. i have been lied to by the dealership stating they have driven the vehicle and were unable to duplicate the issue however the mileage in and out which are listed on their paperwork are the exact same number.. frustrated that this transmission issue is completely unchanged since i bought the car less than 1 year ago, jeep refuses to assist with anything more than a software updates, and i am directly placing myself and my children in harms way and risk of an accident everytime i get behind the wheel, as it is unpredictability of if the vehicle will shift correctly or place me in a dangerous situation

First occurring in the fall of 2015, the power lift gate failed to latch. it would no longer respond to attempts to open it electronically, and instead remained unlatched. any pressure placed against the lift gate from the inside raised the lift gate. we had it serviced, the problem seemed to be fixed, but as of 6 august 2016 we are experiencing the same problem again. this problem is unique and unrelated to the recall issued in december of 2015. with three dogs that ride in our vehicle with us, we absolutely cannot drive with a lift gate that doesn't close. additionally, the engine lags dangerously behind acceleration sometimes, like when driving through an intersection. it will start to accelerate, then the transmission seems to disengage, and the vehicle loses power completely for a few seconds before the powertrain engages again. we've already almost been in two accidents because of this problem.

Lost of power transmission slammed into reverse and drive lost of power getting onto freeway and lost of power while twice while driving .do not feel safe in this car. *tr

My 2015 jeep cherokee latitude shutters/shimmys upon take off, hesitates upon take off, sometimes requiring excessive throttle input to get going... at 20,000 miles the shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear have started to be extremely rough at times, especially when releasing pressure on the throttle at around 30-35 miles per hour, lunging and jerking so hard that passengers gasp and ask questions like "what the $#@% was that!?"... and while driving down significant inclines the vehicle will accelerate when you release the throttle, sometimes requiring a manual downshift to regain control of the vehicle

Transmission shifting and reliability. we have the trailhawk version of the cherokee. we are having issues of a clank/bang occasionally about 40-42mph; it can be felt in the floorboard. sometimes we will get this in reverse when we start to move. the biggest complaint is when trying to leave a light or intersection and step on the gas nothing happens or it slowing starts to speed up or it takes off like a jackrabbit. it is not consistent. when leaving an intersection we are not confident in what type of reaction we are going to get. will it move or maybe decide to move eventually. also, normal acceleration seems spongy or bouncy. it is like pressing gas pedal down (slightly) then letting off; on off, on off, on off. it happens quickly until we reach 20 plus mph. if we select the sport mode, i have not noticed the spongy feeling on acceleration. i think that knowing how your car is going/supposed to respond when applying the brake or pressing the accelerator pedal is important the safety and confidence in driving one's vehicle. my wife has also experienced the parking brake reapplying when she is backing out of a parking spot at her work. the parking lot is on a slope. she backs up and when she tries to go forward it doesn't want to move. then she looks and the parking brake is back on. she has to turn it off again to move. we also have been having issues with the rear hatch. the dealership has done the recall for the electric lift mechanism. we have issues when it won't open electrically and issues with it not latching. there was nothing in the cargo area to interfere with the hatch operation. we have addressed these issues especially with the transmission several times with the jeep dealership and have left messages with no response to the messages. we currently have 20600 miles on the 2015 cherokee.

Automatic transmission: vehicle "hesitates" when putting into drive or reverse or moving forward from a "stopped" position. this happens intermittently - i don't know when i press the gas if i will move forward. this is extremely dangerous when trying to merge onto a highway - though it could potentially cause an accident if the vehicle behind me thinks i will move forward when a light turns green. i have been told that i should contact the dealership periodically for software updates -- there is no way to fix the problem, but software supposedly "lessens" the problem. i had one software update: problem recurred the next day and continues to be a problem. i am afraid to allow my teenager drive the vehicle because of the unpredictability of the problem -- it's frightening enough for me, let alone an inexperienced driver. this is a safety issue -- no "fix" is an unacceptable response! *tr

The transmission is never in the correct gear. when slowing down and then accelerating (like when turning left), the transmission is still in gear 6 or 7. it should be in 2 or 3 so that the vehicle can accelerate. judging when it is safe to make a turn is impossible.this frustrates me and people behind me. it is a also a safety issue. also, when i am accelerating from being completely stopped, the vehicle is rarely in gear. after pressing on the gas for a while, it finally decides to shift out of neutral and you either go super slow because you are in a high gear, or squeal tires. also a safety issue. i have taken it in twice. jeep acknowledges what it does, but will not fix the problem. they say that it may not be functioning like i want it to, but it is functioning by jeep design. nine speed tranny for a 3.2l v6. it doesn't work. it is completely dangerous and ridiculous.

I have a 2015 cherokee trailhawk 3.6l v6 love it except for the issues. this is my very first and very last fca jeep product i will own unless this vehicle somehow becomes reliable. at 3,860 miles while driving my power windows failed it will not go up or down and my blind spot monitor which i paid extra for and depend on for added safety failed at the same time. i was heading to work and my windows will not operate and is stuck in the down position in a parking lot for 8 hours hoping no one would try to break in my car. now my vehicle is at 13,600 mile and i'm starting to experience all the other owners transmission failure issues, but mine haven't happen enough for the dealer to attempt to fix it. while driving, the transmission will get stuck in a low gear and will not change even after heavy acceleration and then after about 6 seconds it will suddenly change and lunge forward. other times the transmission will get stuck in a high gear and when i try to accelerate it will not drop a gear to accelerate and my wife avoid highways because she is afraid the vehicle will stall on an entrance ramp while merging. another issue is when reversing from a cold start and then putting the vehicle in drive the vehicle seems to get stuck in either neutral or reverse because it will not go forward until i really punch the accelerator and then it will lung forward. my last complaint about this vehicle is minor but still and issue. the power lift gate will sometimes get stuck and not open until i try it a few times.

Jeep shifts rough with a bang when going between 25 and 35 mph. dealer updated software but it did not fix the problem. it happens randomly, usually about once every 30 miles.

The transmission shifts rough in the lower 3 gears.

Jeep is unsafe to drive and gets worse and worse. jumps and shifts erratically, rpm's spike when coming to stop causing vehicle to jump and lunge forward, has almost caused several accidents already. starting to slowly move forward after a rolling stop front tires barked and squealed as vehicle was taken off. family feels unsafe driving this vehicle with 14,000 miles and has occurred since 1500. has happened at least 40 times however date below only allows me to choose one..

Last summer, i was in the dealership for the second time regarding what seems to be a transmission problem. the first time was a couple of months prior when the emergency lights came on my dash regarding, engine, transmission, etc' after three attempts, of turning off/on my car, i was able to finally put my car into gear and go. i brought the car in and they performed an upgrade to the computer system which seemed to fix the problem. the second time i experienced any issues with my car was last week when i was driving on the highway going about 30 mph when i accelerated to pass another driver and my car just revved'there was no acceleration when i pressed on the gas. as you could imagine, i was really shocked by this. in addition to these incidents, the car will 'jump' into gear'.more often when i put my car in reverse. i have had several issues with the transmission on this vehicle. starting with the lights and alerts coming on...while in park, preventing me to start the vehicle, all the way up to driving 70 mph and having the alarms go off regarding check transmission issues and service transmissions. each time when the car was in motion, i would pull over and the transmission would not engage, eventually, when i would turn off the car and restart it, it would work without a problem....until the next time. quite often, i would accelerate only to stand still and hear the engine revving. these recurring transmission issues are making it difficult for me to be a devoted jeep customer as i no longer feel safe in this vehicle!

The transmission doesn't downshift properly. if you don't stop completely, when you try to accelerate, it feels like the transmission slips then is downshifts into first. they jeep then lurches forward. it can be hard to control when turning. the dealership told me the it's functioning as designed.

I was attempting to make a left turn on a busy city road when the car suddenly stopped dead without any warning signs. an oncoming tractor trailer had to swerve out of the way to avoid killing me. the aaa tow truck driver commented that it was the transmission that failed and it had set off the emergency brake. he noted that he had responded to the exact same scenario with a jeep cherokee the week before. the car has now been at the dealer for 21 days without any good results in sight. they have already replaced the new transmission which they installed admitting that the new transmission is faulty. i am aware of a class action suit for this same problem in their 2014 models and there will undoubtedly be one, if there isn't already, for the 2015 and 2016 models. they are not admitting the problem and will not admit the problem until there are several fatalities. since i do not plan to be among them, i want a refund, not another piece of junk.

2015 jeep cherokee transmission failed to provide forward motion after initial acceleration during left hand turns with oncoming traffic, resulting in near collision on multiple occasions (11). the condition presents on any/all road types and conditions when turning left and occasionally when progressing straight from a stopped position. oncoming vehicles have had to stop to avoid a head on collision. dealer has been made aware of defect and the vehicle has been in for reprogramming on two occasions without proper repair. current mileage is 22,147 miles

Since the date of delivery - on a daily basis, when in low gears, stop and go city driving, the transmission slips, jumps, jerks, and will often bog down. acceleration is extremely jerky when taking off from a light or turning a corner. the vehicle has had at least three computer updates to resolve the issue with only extremely slight to no improvement. on several occasions i have not been able to move the vehicle safely out of the way of danger as quickly and reliably as i should have been, only narrowly avoiding an accident.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 jeep cherokee. while driving 30 mph, the check engine and battery warning lights illuminated. in addition, the 'place the vehicle in park position' warning message displayed. the vehicle was placed into the park position and another error message illuminated stating 'place the vehicle in the desired gear'. the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts and the brake pedal was difficult to depress. the failure was intermittent. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

The transmission has very erratic behavior. when trying to accelerate quickly, like when you are trying to get onto a busy road from a side street or trying to get onto the freeway, the engine revs very high, like the transmission is out of gear. after a second or two you can feel a troubling clunk as it finds a gear and lunges forward. i've almost gotten in a few accidents because of this. it doesn't respond to me pressing the accelerator then it violently shifts into gear and lunges forward. i have also had this experience when trying to shift into drive after reversing our of my driveway. i've complained to the dealer a couple of times. they have supposedly updated the software, but i do not feel a difference. the dealer likes to claim that it's a "feature" of the adaptive transmission trying to anticipate what i want it to do. i'd rather it just respond to what i'm doing.

The 9-speed transmission in this car is erratic. sometimes it delays upon acceleration, sometimes it jerks on deceleration, and sometimes it shifts unevenly.

The transmission shifts back and forth wildly and goes back and fourth in 2-3 gear very violently. they have attempted to fix this with computer updates but it keeps coming back about every 4-6 months and we have to go back and have them reset the computer.

Car does not take off when going from reverse to drive. the car stays stationary for about 1-2 secs eventhough the gas pedal is depressed. it is as if the transmission is stuck and will not move.

The 9 speed transmission is unreliable and dangerous. the transmission does not engage when starting from a stop. the engine revs and then several seconds later the transmission engages and lurches forward. the delay puts you at risk as you enter traffic. additionally, the transmission will suddenly shift when you are coasting and accelerate 10-15 miles per hour faster. i have had the car into the dealership 5 times to repair this and nothing changes. flashing the software does nothing. i have filed a lemon law claim with the state of ca and have an arbitration meeting scheduled in september.

On june 10, 2016 at approx. 5:15pm, service shifter displayed on the driver information display (did) for approx. 5 seconds as i was driving on i-95 in west palm beach, fl. at approximately 8:00pm, service shifter displayed again and remained displayed on the did. after approximately 5 minutes, i pressed the controls for the electronic vehicle information center (evic) attempting to remove the service shifter display and display the speedometer. pressing the evic did not change the service shifter display. the did/evic crashed. i did not know my driving speed or could access any other vehicle information. i then noticed the center console and the p (park), r (reverse), n (neutral), and d (drive) indicator lights all illuminated simultaneously. i got off i-95 at the next exit, port st. lucie, fl and stopped at a shell gas station. i took pictures of the displays with my cell phone before turning off the engine, mileage 36,474. i turned the engine off and called chrysler roadside assistance. the agent said he could not tell me how long the wait would be for service or tow. i started the engine and waited to see the did, evic, and p r n d displays. the displays were the same as before i turned off the engine. i could see a hotel from the gas station. i googled the hotel address and the address of the nearest jeep dealership, arrigo dodge chrysler jeep, ft. pierce, fl. the distance was 8 miles. i drove to the hotel, 0.4 miles from gas station. the next morning, june 11th, i called arrigo and talked with a service advisor and asked if i could bring my jeep immediately. i drove to arrigo at 5851 s. us highway 1, ft. pierce, fl. attached is repair order 136810 - 6/11/16 flash software. same occurrence driving on i-95, service shifter and prnd 46,302 miles and 46, 623 miles in 09/16. replaced shifter 9/21/16 at my expense. 5 files attached. i have more. *tr

I purchased my jeep at garden city jeep on 06/06/16 & the vehicle test drove fine (for the 10 minutes i got to drive the vehicle). upon owning it for a few days i noticed that there was a wobble in the front end when traveling between 0-20mph specifically when the vehicle shifted between 1st & 2nd gear when going both straight or making a right turn. i also noticed very poor transmission shifting primarily at low speeds, in stop & go traffic, in parking lot (traveling slow), when reversing, & even when traveling at moderate speeds (30-60mph) when the vehicle would shift up & down between 4th, 5th, & 6th. the trans would jerk, tug, & clunk into gear sometimes more noticeable then others. i took the car to the dealer & the wobble was fixed. in addition the dealer flashed the software on my trans & for the first day it felt considerably better however after driving it for 2 weeks the trans felt very sluggish again. the car now jerks between 1st, 2nd, & 3rd gear again primarily at low speeds or during gentle accleration...it also seems to feel very sluggish in 4th & 5th gear when the car is coasting around 30-55mph...any acceleration after letting the car coast causes the trans to jerk into gear. almost 100% of the time now when i am waiting at a red light, or am stopped on the road for any reason, & then need to accelerate unless i accelerate very aggressively the car feels as if it is shifting 3 to 5 times however the car is only in 2nd or 3rd gear. it almost seems as if it is shifting up, up, down, up all over the course of 1-2 seconds. sometimes this can be violent enough to jerk my head forward & back. separately, upon deceleration the rpms will spike 500-1000 rpms when letting it coast & downshift on its own & the car will actually speed up on its own. separately, when accelerating after coasting the trans lags and i receive no power until 1-2 seconds either.

Sept. 2015 i started having problems at 6 months since then i have had it back to the dealership 9 times sometimes it has to be towed in is not driveable same problem but every time i get it back the problems are worse since about the 18th of aug this year i have had the car only 9 days this is now dec 3rd it has been in the shop sometimes 3 or 4 days some times as long 3 or 4 weeks the transmission clunks like it is falling out all the lights go out will not shift it also shuts down when driving it one time in the middle of an intersection this is getting really dangerous for me as well as anyone else on the road with me i have been in touch with chrysler customer care lady named lori she says i am out of the perimeter for buy back they did not know what is wrong with this car i am making car payments and insurance on a car i can't drive and don't even ave most of the time. the dealership called me a week ago to come pick the car and when i got there it wouldn't even run to get to the front of the building to me. this has been going on for 2 1/2 years now only getting worse all of the time i am now afraid to drive this car knowing it can shut down anytime in the middle of traffic and chrysler won't do anything except keep putting it back in the shop and after 3 weeks or i go to pick it up and once again it won't run. *dt*jb
