Problems with 2014 Jeep Cherokee VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

On average, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee starts to “feel” problems with the VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL and its various aspects after 30 079 miles.

Components Affected by VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL Issues

We have classified the 133 complaints from 2014 Jeep Cherokee about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.

CRUISE CONTROL 2

Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Sudden unintended acceleration (over 2000 rpm) when breaking or coasting to a stop. vehicle speed control component needs to be reprogramed or replaced in automatic transmission. problem not fixed during last checkup.

When at an average rate of speed (55mph) while driving on a curve (there is a bump in the road at the spot i am referring to), when the jeep hits it, it has a death wobble in the front end!!! cruise control speeds up on a very small decline in the road every time used!!! from a stop, the car has a hard shift when beginning to press accelerator!!! hands free voice gets my voice request wrong almost every time!!!

Safety recall listed below. notified 2 months ago. this can cause a crash without warning! i am not comfortable driving a vehicle that could cause serious bodily injury/death to myself or anyone else. vin: [xxx] year: 2014 make: jeep model: cherokee limited fwd number of open recalls: 1 nhtsa recall number: opens new window takes away from vin lookup section> 16v529 recall date: august 22, 2016 manufacturer recall number: s55 summary: the transaxle wire harness on your vehicle may have been built with insufficient wire terminal crimp(s). this may cause an intermittent high electrical resistance in the transaxle wire harness circuit(s). a high resistance circuit(s) in this wiring harness will cause the on-board diagnostic system to set a diagnostic trouble code (dtc). when the dtc is set, the system defaults the transaxle to neutral and the customer experiences a loss of motive power. safety risk: the loss of motive power could cause a crash without warning. remedy: the transmission control module (tcm) must be reprogrammed with new software. the new software strategy will eliminate the transaxle shift-to-neutral condition for this issue, place the transaxle in a fixed gear limp mode and illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (mil) if a high resistance circuit is detected in the transaxle wire harness. recall status: recall incomplete. remedy not yet available information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Numerous times the car will brake on its own and accelerate on its own, without depression of brake or gas pedals.

Car was parked and upon startup produced a loud bang. car reversed after a jerk and a complete loss of power. turned car off and turned it back on. felt like it rode in neutral without the ability to accelerate. almost caused an accident. i had my child in the back seat. every light on the dashboard lit up-failed transmission ect... i have photo documentation.

The cruise control does not disengage when i push the cruise control cancel button. when i have the cruise control on and going 65mph, (on a highway) or so, in a high elevation and want the cruise off, i press the brake, the cruise control does not disengage. if i press the cruise control "cancel" button, the cruise control does not disengage. i can tell because the cruise control light on the dash is still lit. what does turn off the cruise control is pressing the cruise control button that i push to engage cruise control in the first place. so to turn off the cruise control, i must press the cruise control "on" button. shouldn't pressing the brake or the cruise control cancel button turn off cruise control all the time? i have placed another complaint on this subject before with you, but before i didn't know how to cancel the cruise control. now i have found that i must press the button that also turns it on to turn it off.

Transmission issues. brought to the dealer twice in one week.

The transmission on this car makes it a death trap. i have experienced: the car not turning on or shutting off on its own (while driving) due to not enough oil in the engine, lunging, delayed acceleration, missing gears when shifting, loud bangs and noises when shifting, indicator lights malfunctioning, the list goes on. i have been to the dealer on numerous occasions (excluding the 6 times for recalls) and they don't even know how to fix these issues. i can't drive this car because i'm scared i'll die i can't sell this car because it has lost all value i can't afford another car right now

Please read...traveling on interstate 75 n / approximate speed 65 - 75 mph / vehicle "turned off, went dead" / coasted through two lanes to get to an emergency side spot! it truly is a miracle that we were not ran over!!! contacted a wrecker service and having to wait 1 1/2hrs on the side of a busy interstate, our vehicle was lifted and taken to a dealership / the wrecker driver wasn't able to get vehicle started or out of gear until he accessed help via his phone, which allowed him to move gear but still didn't crank / next day, a rep from the dealership called and said the vehicle started up and the issue mentioned above could not be replicated??? a strange report was given that there seem to be grease from an unknown source that was seen under the vehicle and perhaps that caused the problem??? we picked the vehicle up and made it home (70 mi) / this is extremely worrisome, not to mention, of course it could be deadly! please help.

On sunday on may 22, 2016, i drove my 2014 jeep cherokee on interstate 275 from the montgomery road exit to the five-mile road exit. i was alone in the vehicle. i used the cruise control during this travel. i originally set the speed for 70 miles per hour. at one point, i had to slow down because a car pulled into the lane in front of me and the step down of feature of the speed control worked as expected. when i exited from i-275 to five-mile, i applied the brakes but was unable to slow my car. i continued to apply pressure to the brake pedal but the car's speed was not being reduced and i realized that i would be crossing into the signalized intersection without being able to stop. shortly before entering the intersection, i honked the horn of my car. my car continued across all four lanes of five-mile road and onto the on-ramp from five mile to interstate 275. there it stopped. i do not remember pushing the button on the steering wheel to cancel the cruise control . the car did not impact or touch any other vehicle or pedestrian or other property. it came to a stop on the onramp. the cruise control was not then causing the car to accelerate and the brakes worked. i drove my car very slowly and parked it in the parking lot of the shopping center at the intersection of five-mile and beechmont avenue. from there, i had the car towed from the parking lot to the dealership where i purchased it, kings chrysler/dodge/jeep, inc. at kings auto mall. a report referenced by ntsa id no. 10861030 describes a similar incident involving the same make model and year. so far, the dealer service department says there is no problem discernable from the computer codes or fault indications.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 5 mph, the contact heard an unusual noise underneath the hood. the vehicle immediately accelerated and crashed into a parked vehicle, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was filed. the contact sustained a minor injury that did not require medical attention. the vehicle was towed to a dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and an investigation was ordered. the failure mileage was 13,000. updated 08/31/16*lj *cn

The jeep continues to stall with no warning in traffic, causing a serious risk of collision. the vehicle has also experience unwanted and automatic acceleration, also causing a serious risk of injury. a leaky break line was just replaced. the vehicle only has 27,000

Continuously having issues with the vehicle, related to acceleration while driving in traffic, car shutting off in traffic, not starting back up right away, gears shifting roughly while - is an automatic 9 speed 4 cylinder vehicle. i have been offered a 5% discount on a jeep trade in by the jeep resolution department, but at this point, not sure if its worth buying another jeep. i am afraid of this happening again. unfortunately, the mechanics, cant find what wrong with the vehicle, and they also test drove the car, driving around the dealership, on side streets, but not in traffic, or stop and go traffic. i am frustrated at this point, jepp knows these are issues with many of there engines, and fail to truly hear the customers complaints, to the point of taking these complaints more seriously. the resolution offered are not good enough to fix the issue, as i feel i would trade this vehicle in and they will turn around and sell it again.... not safe at all. ! i need help, as i don't know what to do next, take the offer or just trade in with a different dealer and car type/model nothing chrysler/jeep related uuuggghhhh!

With cruise control on, at 70 mph on an interstate hwy at higher elevation, the rpm's were near 4,000. i put on the brakes as the speed was going faster than i wanted. putting on the brakes did not disengage the cruise control, so the rpm's stayed near 4,000. the only way to slow down was to press the cancel button for the cruise control. this has happened 3-4 times on different trips in different locations that were all high in elevation: 1500 feet +. i have told this information to the dealer we bought the car from, new, in 2014. this just happened again 4-20-16 in southern oregon. normally, pressing the brake pedal cancels the cruise control.

Vehicle lost power in the middle of a busy intersection. the throttle control warning light, and the check engine light came on. this is a very serious safety hazard as two vehicles almost collide with me due to the sudden loss of power and stalling.

2014 jeep cherokee bought in december 2014 500miles. shortly after purchase, car shifting erratically, lunging forward at stops, and not accelerating when stepping on gas appropriately. on the way to work one day, car bogged down in traffic, turned off, would not turn back on for over 30 minutes, trying to start all lights and check engine warnings were going haywire. car finally started, got to work, but car did not start up again after my shift, had to have car towed to dealer. they did updates and computer resets, picked up vehicle, only for vehicle to shut down on the lot, they took it back in ,and kept it over night. they felt they fixed the problem, but again on the way to work, car still shifting dangerously, lunging forward, and has shut down again. even while in a drive thru, car lunged forward almost hitting another car in front of me. car taken back into dealer, again they completed a ton of recalls, and updates, some repeated form the last few times, i took the car in. the car has been in the shop 5-6 times now, with 2 claims escalated to jeep/chrysler. i am pregnant, and with the car shutting down in the middle of traffic is extremely, lunging forward, shifting erratically, and bogging down while on highway has only brought fear to my safety, the safety of my pregnancy, and the safety of others driving around me, as i hope this can be fixed before something horrible happens. i have requested to claims that the car be replaced, or be issued a buy back, safety is my main concern ! this vehicle is no good< and should not be driven or resold !

I have lost speed acceleration control while driving on the highway several times. i lose power than it comes back a few seconds later. very scary

Ok i have a 2014 jeep cherokee limited with front wheel drive . only has under 54000 miles on it i am experiencing transmission problems especially in reverse it's extremely loud and rumbles constant while in reverse . also while in drive once moveing it bucks but eventually starts to go away after a lil while. but i also loose power i'll have to put the pedal to the floor the accelerator and i move extremely slowly then it will eventually kick in and have a very hard time going up large hills all hills really and it struggles to get up it like has a lot of lack of power i've put my jeep in the shop numerous times and have had major work done to it. one of them that was costly was the car would not read that it was in park so i couldn't shut the car off i love the jeep product but i hate this one it needs to be recalled. thanks

On board computer, obstructing major traffic lanes, diagnostic trouble code (dtc) defaults the transaxel to neutral and complete loss of motive power. the loss of motve motive could cause crash without power. updated 01/17/2017*ct *cn

Takada recall transmission shifts hard in 1 -3 gears, hesitates on acceleration, stays in low gear on steep incline, drops into neutral uncontrolled and lunges car forward when shifting through first three gears.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that after the vehicle was serviced under an unknown manufacturers recall, the accelerated pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. in addition, the vehicle lost power however, the radio remained activated. the vehicle was powered off and restarted twice and the vehicle was able to function properly. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was undetermined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 29,000. the vin was not provided.

The car stalls when pressing on the gas then jolts into gear making it feel and sound like i've been hit from behind, it is slow to accelerate at times and other times it accelerates extremely faster when i lightly push the gas, it will also decelerate at times when trying to accelerate, the electrical will flash all the signals and tell me to service the transmission after i fill my tank mostly and the car will shut off when i stop at a light and jerk until input it in park and turn it off while sitting in traffic. the controls to the lift gate do not always work when pressed inside of the vehicle. the check engine light is constantly on when i took it to the dealer the diagnostic said it was a sensor and valve but the dealer kept the car for a week and only changed the oil which was not needed and shut the light off only for it to come back on one day after i had to demand they fix my car or give it back because they were just holding it on the lot, the suspension and shocks are off they keep wearing my tires and the button for the shift gear fell off while i was attempting to put the car in gear which is an obvious defect

Vehicle seems to have transmission problems. it has been at the dealership several times now due to shifting problems and loosing power while on the freeway. the rpm's seem to go very high and then drop to 0 with no warning. vehicle stalls out and thus far fca has had no resolution. this is a serious safety issue as it can occur while your accelerating to enter the freeway or while passing another vehicle. also a danger of loosing power at an inconvenient moment and potentially causing a crash from the rear. problem has been ongoing since december of 2015 with no solution as of the end of january 2016.

First - vehicle would shift into park and i could not turn it off. when shifting into reverse, the car would not move. i had to have it towed into the dealer. second - while driving on the expressway, the vehicle gave 5-6 beeps and information panel said, "restart vehicle and service transmission." the car stopped moving forward when pressing the gas. shifting into park (to restart the vehicle) the car vibrated and jumped. restarted the vehicle, the transmission light was on, message says service transmission, traction control light on, and the d(rive) light was blinking. third - all of the above again, except everyone on the expressway was moving at 65-70 miles per hour, and my car stopped in the third lane. this seems to happen when the vehicle is moving and it is getting very dangerous for me and other drivers.

My vehicle has had hard shifting ever since i purchased it brand new in 2014. there's a slight delay when accelerating which makes it very dangerous to turn into oncoming traffic. in january of 2016, my vehicle actually stopped on me while making a right hand turn when taking my kids to school. luckily the vehicle stopped in the school zone so the oncoming traffic was approaching at a slow speed. it took me four attempts to get the vehicle started again. the service transmission light came on the dash. it had to be towed to the dealership three times in january because it would not start, or if it did, once i started driving the on dash screen would say "shift to drive" and then the "service transmission" light would come on. the vehicle stopped while in motion so i had to pull over and wait before starting the vehicle up again. i was told by the dealership that my vehicle needed a transmission update and a new battery. it was explained to me that a bad battery will cost this specific vehicle to have transmission issues. but after the update and the new battery, the hard shifting and the delay when accelerating remained. my vehicle is not safe to drive with my three kids in the car; the hard shifting makes it feel like we will get whiplash and the delayed acceleration makes it feel like the vehicle will can stop at anytime while in motion. i don't think the transmission update that the dealership does is a solution to this ongoing problem because it hasn't corrected the issue on my vehicle.

I bought a new 2014 jeep cherokee limited and after one week, check engine light came on and car wouldn't start. taken back to dealership and was told it was fixed. since then the jeep shifts very hard making the suv lurch forward at times and other times it will shift into a lower gear when speeds over 50 mph and make the suv jerk to a slower speed. when cruising down a hill without pushing the accelerator, suv will shift gears many different times causing the jeep to lurch forward quickly without warning. when trying to pass a car on the hwy, it takes jeep a few seconds to "catch" the gear and make it go faster. i have had several near misses of other cars hitting me and me, hitting others due to the unpredictability of speeds and jerking forward. i have had the suv in the shop 4 times for "software updates" and told that would fix the problem. it has never fixed the problem. most recent near miss was yesterday 29 dec due to downshifting wile moving at higher speeds and causing the suv to slow dramatically without warning. *js

12/5/15 jerking suv stops driving stops in middle of intersection gration& 13mile 12/7/15 returned to dealership jan 2016 roseville chrysler jeep threatened to have vehicle towed to scrap yard and bill me for towing & pay remainder of car note jan 18 2016 car was delivered back to my home as of june 1 2016 my vehicle still jerks when i accelerate after taking my foot off brake & press gas pedal - cant afford to pay for 2 vehicles - my lease ends may 2017

Roseville chrysler called 12/11/15 @ 10:32 am told me they completed oil change and i can pick up my vehicle. fyi: this vehicle was towed to roseville chrysler dealership 12/7/15 and will remain there because this vehicle is a lemon and is dangerous. will not risk my life or my 6yr son health to drive this vehicle!! 2014 jeep cherokee suv started jerking & idled stop moving on me twice 12/5/15 @3:30pm. i was stuck in the middle of intersection 13mile & utica for 1minute fortunately no one was tailgating & i didn't get in a car accident. all i want is to exchange for another vehicle that is not a cherokee. purchased vehicle may 8 2014 incident dates may 9 , 2014 bake & radio complaint may 12, 2014 brake complaint sept 5, 2014 radio complaint sept 9, 2014 radio replaced sept 11,2014 radio complaint 4/6/15 complaint over jerking vehicle 7/21/15 installed new transmission / installed new door handle latch for trunk 12/5/15 jerking suv twice 2 stops driving 12/7/15 returned to dealership

When driving at least once a week, the car will suddenly loose speed and will drop into low gear. a service note comes on the screen stating, "service transmission" and "service park brake." i am unable to have any control of the speed of the car. i have to turn the car off and turn the car off several times, until the transmission allows to switch speeds/gears. at first, when trying to accelerate the car will just drop out and not allow me to move forward. i feel extremely unsafe driving my vehicle especially when this happens on the highway in the middle of traffic. it has happened to me when going anywhere from 25 mph to 78 mph. i have taken it to the dealer where i bought it, and they seemed to find nothing wrong with the vehicle. i took my car to another dealer in another state, and they were still unsuccessful with finding out what is wrong with the vehicle. again, i feel completely unsafe when driving and i am just waiting to cause an accident or someone to rear end me because of the drastic lose in speed.

Forward collision avoidance system is activating without warning and without any other vehicles or road obstructions in front of the vehicle. this has happened 4 times over the last month. one of the times this happened my wife was traveling at approximately 40mph and there was a vehicle following behind her and they in turn had to slam their brakes on to avoid hitting her. of course this enraged the driver behind her thinking that she was intentionally slamming on her brakes. another time my wife was traveling at 65 mph on the highway and the forward collision avoidance system slammed the brakes on hard enough to engage the abs system. thank god that there were no other cars or semi's behind her or slick roads as this could have caused a very serious if not fatal accident. the two other times were the same, the crash avoidance system activating for no reason. the vehicle is currently at the dealer for repair and we were notified that the vehicle was ready for pick up on 11-13-2015. upon arrival at the dealer i specifically asked if the safety concerns with the crash avoidance system and transmission had been corrected. i was told that they hadn't been looked at because they weren't on the list of repairs, when actually this is why the appointment for service was set. the dealer told me to go ahead and take the vehicle and bring it back on 11-23-2015. i refused taking the vehicle as it was not safe for my wife to drive. after arguing, they kept the vehicle. we were notified again on 11-19-2015 that the vehicle was ready for pick up, but they could not duplicate the symptoms with the crash avoidance system. on 11-20-2015 i went to the dealer and again refused the pick up of the vehicle until it has been repaired and is safe for my wife to operate. i have been in contact with jeep multiple times during this ordeal and have an open case on the vehicle at this time.

Mileage 26,000+ transmission failed while driving on the highway this morning. revs went very high but couldn't generate speed to keep up with traffic (check engine light came on)...car didn't move past 2nd gear. having read all the complaints about transmission issues cause by the lack of "mature" software as cited by fiat chrysler ceo sergio marchionne, i'm wondering why the vehicle hasn't been recalled to prevent a potential dangerous event from occurring. i was lucky i could get off the highway this morning and get to a dealership close by. at this stage - the vehicles has had a recall for the radio r40), wipers, liftgate.. what else mr. marchionne... do they right thing for your consumers and recall the vehicles who are as you say lacking "mature" programming. navigation system not working either. i am seriously considering trading this in for a non chrysler car.

Jeep has loss of power between 0-5 mph; 25-35 mph and 55-65 mph. after more than 3 dealership visits and flash module and software updates the vehicle has gotten progressively worse with loss of power and now uneven shifting including jerking when shifting. if you press the gas pedal down there is a delay before the vehicle goes. i have had these issues from the get go 3k miles and now have 8.5k on it with no fixes or end in sight. fca has had little to no communication with me up to this point and am still waiting on a call back from them.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, there was sudden increase in engine rpms; however, the vehicle would not accelerate properly. the contact continued to depress the accelerator pedal and the vehicle began to drive normally. the failure recurred on several occasions. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 14,000.

1st incident- 9/1/15- driving in interstate traffic when w/o warning jeep lost power, immediately slowed as if it dropped gears and went into neutral, "service parking brake" message flashed and said to put in park/turn car off/restart. other emergency warnings appeared: check engine, stability traction, service transmission. jeep had no power and was hard to steer. i was in far lane and able to coast to shoulder. turned car off/on. said "service transmission". tried to drive but parking brake was still locked. had towed to dodge service dept. 9/3 diagnosis- "code u042 error causing service parking brake message and transmission to go limp". told it was reprogrammed and problem fixed. 2nd incident- 9/4- driving on country road in school traffic when same exact problem occurred.there was no where to coast/pull over. turned car off/on. service transmission warning light was on but attempted to drive to move car out of traffic. shut down 5 more times w/ loud clunks as if transmission was going to drop out before able to safely park. nearly caused school bus accident! had towed to dodge. star case opened. in service dept for 14 days. replaced "body control module" but couldn't get it reconfigured and had to "write" into dodge to find out how to fix it. 9/17 diagnosis- "internal bcm failure caused active u0140- lost communication w/ bcm dtc in electric park brake module; test confirmed bcm failed causing false activation of park brake. i expressed concern of recurrence and my safety based on history of complaints but was assured it was fixed. 3rd incident- 9/21 in rush hour traffic again! how many times do i have to risk my family's lives before they recall/replace this death trap! jeep still in service dept and they have now ordered a valve body, transmission range sensor, transmission fluid and electric parking brake control module. please help before someone is killed!

On tuesday, july 28, 2015 12:12pm on interstate 91-s at 65mph in the middle travel lane, i was surrounded by multiple tractor-trailers. my dashboard suddenly lit up like a christmas tree. i immediately attempted to get to safety. the car's speed dropped dramatically without warning, even when i applied the gas. at least two tractor-trailers just missed hitting me. i narrowly managed to get to the right side of the highway. on friday, july 31, 2015, executive jeep reassured me that the vehicle was repaired and safe to drive. i expressed my concern about it being safe; the service advisor re-assured me that it was. on monday, august 3, 2015, just 7 days after the vehicle failed me, i was en route to work on 91-n i was traveling in the middle lane surrounded by multiple vehicles. again, the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree. i was almost hit by other vehicles while trying to make my way to the right side of the highway. the car's speed dropped dramatically without warning, even when i applied the gas. for the second time in one week, the vehicle failed in the same manner and i narrowly managed to get to the breakdown lane. chrysler insists that this vehicle is safe to drive. this is the third jeep cherokee in connecticut that i am personally aware of that has the same defect; this is unacceptable. i purchased a new jeep to be safe; my experience with jeep has been far from that. i am stuck paying of an unsafe vehicle. narrowly avoiding being killed twice in this vehicle is enough for me.

While in motion, the car stalled. the car would not then shift to any gear. after continuously trying to shift gears, the car would jump from park to drive. literally jump. i had to drive home (a few blocks) with my hazards on praying all the way. i called huntington beach jeep first thing in the morning. they towed the car to the service dept. i was told the transmission would be fixed. i tried to upgrade out of the shotty cherokee to a grand cherokee for safety reasons but the dealer would not forgive the negative equity in the car as we've had it for a year. he insisted we put more money down and have a car payment of $600-700 dollars. we refused. we feel jeep does not care about the safety but only the number of cars they sell each month which is a same. thank god we didn't have a car accident as they my family would be planning a funeral. maybe that is what it will take.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, there was a sudden increase in engine rpms; however, the vehicle would not accelerate properly. the contact continued to depress the accelerator pedal and the vehicle began to drive normally. the failure recurred on several occasions. while reversing out of the driveway, the vehicle came to an abrupt stop and the parking brake warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 5,600.

Took vehicle in for 30000 mile check up. reported transmission shifting problems. manufacturer replaced transmission. drove the car for two weeks. shifting problems still occur, cannot take highway on ramps faster than 45 mph. returned car to dealership. dealership reports that this is standard shifting and performance for jeeps and not a safety concern. dealership returned vehicle with no service performed. still hard shifts, lagging, rattling and automatically shifting into neutral.

Stopped at stop sign, engine rpm's increased on it's own, car lurched forward on it's own. later at stop when attempting to go forward there was no response in the pedal. then car suddenly lurched forward, spinning tires. potential for serious accident occurred 2 times that day and next day. dealer checked codes and no codes showed any problems. was told others had reported the same problem to dealer on both the jeep cherokee and the chrysler 200.

At high altitude cruise control accelerated when the car started to go down hill and cruise control wouldn't disengage when hit the break or turn off cruise. had to rek severe times before it disengaged. has happened more than once only at high (above 3000 ft) altitude

After a complete stop at a stop sign, "service transmission" message appeared on the speedometer, check engine light turned on, car was beeping all over the place, and could not accelerate after stepping on the gas pedal 3 times. i had to turn off the car and restart the car on the spot. after restarting the car, engine light stayed on and i was able to drive home. prior to this incident the check engine light has been on and off for about a few months since i purchased the vehicle on november of 2013. seems like other jeep cherokee owners are also experiencing similar problems if not more serious and fatal. several complaints found on this forum (http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2014/jeep/cherokee/power+train) regarding the issue reported that their vehicles lost power on the highway. other even had trouble with their gears. also the car would accelerate a little more even the driver had let go of the gas. this is definitely a serious problem and needs to be addressed and investigated immediately before someone gets hurt or even killed. *tr

If you slow down then try to speed up the vehicle hesitants at some point it bangs into gear then takes off.i almost was in an accident trying to merge into traffic from a ramp onto a major highway when i applied pressure to the gas pedal the vehicle did not speed up it was like it was stuck in a low gear and would not accelerate this caused the person behind me to swerve around me so he could get ahead of the speeding traffic then my vehicle had a loud bang as it finally went into gear and took off like a bullet. scared the hell out of me. so yielding in this vehicle is extremely dangerous. i know this happens so i am very cautous when driving as this could cause a major incident to happen and it is scary. i had several recalls on this vehicle and had them all fixed.took this to be fixed, but they can fix it. they knew exactly what i was telling them as they were getting complaints from other owners. stop and go traffic and slow and go traffic is everyday life this is extremely dangerous to myself and others.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed and released, the vehicle accelerated rapidly without warning. in addition, the vehicle sputtered as if it would stall. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 4,900.

Vehicle's "adaptive cruise control w/ stop-and-go" was activated and set to 40 mph. on approach to an intersection with stopped traffic ahead, the adaptive cruise control feature failed to slow the vehicle and a rear-end collision nearly occurred. the system had a clear field of view and approached stopped traffic from approximately 300 yards. the vehicle's collision alarm and brake booster activated as i waited for the system to slow the vehicle. using full braking force, the vehicle came to rest approximately 5 feet from the vehicle in front of me. *tr

Just entering the highway doing the speed limit of 70 mph with my newborn child all of a sudden my car suddenly stalled / shook/ and halted while trying to find a safe place to pull over on the higher way. the service transmission light came on. this is a huge safety concern that i had to somehow find a way to pull over on the side of a major highway with an infant in the car while my car was stalling out. *tr
