Problems with 2014 Jeep Cherokee FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 46 770 miles.

Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Vehicle occasionally bogs down and sometimes stalls at various speeds and conditions. sometimes this will occur several times in a row and sometimes it will go days, even weeks without reoccurring. the jeep dealer kept car for several days said several test drives found no problem and the diagnostics and onboard computer codes were normal. this is a potentially vary dangerous problem if trying to pull out into traffic on the interstate or trying to pass someone. the problem is reported all throughout the internet but nothing in recalls. all recalls on this vin have been completed.

I purchased my car on 10/1/19 with 98,000 miles. a few short days later my car started driving horrible. shaking, bucking, jerking, hesitating to accelerate and shift and my engine light came on while driving, scanned it and was showing p0520 oil pressure sensor. that was replaced. car was still driving the same and 3 days later while driving my engine light came on again, this time code p06dd. brought my car to the mechanic where he had it 3 week. my oil pump was replaced with a new oem pump. the very next day while driving my engine light went on again, throwing the same code p06dd. brought back to the dealer where my car was low 2 quarts of oil. was told to bring it to jeep for recall and diagnosis. jeep has my car for 4 days, completed the recall but was unable to diagnose my car. upon leaving the jeep dealer my engine light came back on and now my car was stuck in safe mode and would not go over 60mph. i brought my car back to the dealer where i purchased it. they had my car for two weeks and replaced my engine. i picked my car up on 12/6/19 from the dealer i purchased from, who just replaced my engine. with a new engine, the car is still not driving right. it is still shaking, bucking, jerking, hesitating to accelerate, hesitating to shift out of all gears. i had my tires balanced 2 times.on 1/13/2020 my car while driving on the highway went into safe mode again. not going over 60mph. this time no engine lights are on. i brought it back to the dealer i purchased from, they hooked up the computer..which showed no codes. it took my car out of safe mode but did not fix any of the problems i'm having. today, 1/21/20 my car went back into safe mode while driving. will not go over 60mph and there are no lights on the dash showing there is a problem. this car is not safe. i am a single mom with 2 kids and i will not jeopardize mine or their lives in this vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that while attempting to refuel the vehicle there was an overflow of fuel. the contact was concerned that there was air in the fuel lines. the dealer baxter chrysler dodge jeep ram la vista (7010 s 124th cir, la vista, ne 68128 (402) 800-1229) was contacted and was suggested that the entire fuel line be replaced at a cost of $2,000. the manufacturer stated there were no recalls and referred the contact to call nhtsa. the failure mileage was 74,000. the vin was not valid.

On 12/19/2019 my wife had an attendant fill up the gas tank at our local service station, less than a 1/2 mile from our house! around the block from our house the transmission started to slip, the car started to shake, then stalled! the car wouldn't start for awhile! when it finally did start, it was still shaking, but being so close to home, she was able to get it home and in the driveway.the sansone jeep service center claimed that when they filled the tank, they overfilled it causing, and costing me, $839.62 worth of damage, which they decided',, was not their responsibility! well i beg to differ! the attendant may have rounded up to the nearest dollar, as they often do',, but how is that anything other than a design, and / or engineering failure? i think if 30 cents of fuel rounded up to the nearest dollar does that kind of damage',, that is an expensive and dangerous manufacturing defect, and should be recalled, and not become the consumers liability! if she just pulled on to an expressway',, there could have been a tragedy! i am enclosing photos of the work order and receipt',, because i'm not even sure what the actual damage and repair was, not understanding their jargon! thank you!

After refueling, my wife stopped at a stoplight and the engine just shutoff with out warning. the screen in the car said to put it in park and then in drive. the car then start with out pushing the start button. this happened four times in the same day so she drove to the local jeep dealership. jeep said it was a problem with the fuel pump module and it happens when the car is over filled. my wife always stops putting when the pump handle clicks off. they have had her car for over 30 days because there are no new pumps available. this is a major safety issue that can happen at anytime. her car has only 36,500 miles on it. this is a known problem and jeep is not doing anything to fix it.

When going to refill the gas tank, the fuel pump would stop after very little fuel had been pumped into the tank, as if it were vapor lock. i tried several different fuel pumps at several different gas stations, to rule out the pump being the problem. i took the jeep into the dealer and have been told there are no blockages, but to fix the problem the fuel spout and the tank need to be replaced. after looking into this online, i was floored to see many other people have had this issue. my jeep has less than 80,000 miles on it, and has been well taken care of and serviced correctly. for a 5 year old car with 80k miles on it, i find it inexcusable to have to replace a fuel tank and spout for a faulty in either design, or bad parts.

Filled up the gas tank and jeep started stalling with in the first mile of driving, was thinking it might be the fuel cap so i tightened it and drove the jeep for a few miles and everything went back to normal. next time, after another fill up a month later, my car stalled when i stopped at a stop sign about a mile after fill up, i was able to pull over, and i checked the gas cap again to be sure it was tight and restart the engine, then while in motion going thru a turn at an intersection about 1/4 of mile down the road, it tried to stall again but luckily didn't completely shut off,and the transmission shifted to neutral, and the display said i needed to place jeep in park then select drive. i was able to coast to the side of the road, and placed the shifter to neutral then back to drive. i proceeded down the road and the vehicle again shifted in to neutral and the display stated the same, to place in park then select drive. this all happened within two miles after filling up. i drove it anothe 60 miles or so after this with no problems. had no real problems before this, other than the shifting lag everyone has complained about. all recalls have been addressed. not sure if this is one problem causing the other or two separate problems.i will test it out on a back road and try to get a picture of the display if it happens again and plan a visit to the dealer for a service check after the holiday weekend.

When i fill my gas tank all the way to the top my car will stall for the first couple miles. this only happens when the gas tank is filled all the way. very unsafe as power steering also locks.

Further follow up from complaint 11280438. complaint - vehicle stalls after filling up. after replacement of vapor canister, then 2 weeks later replacement of fuel tank, filled up again (to click on pump - did not top off) - car stalled again. symptom's dissipate after ~15 miles of driving like before. dealer now states i need to replace my fuel pump. quote "this has to be it because we have replaced your complete fuel system with it". it is concerning that by filling up tank, car will stall. this past event was while i was trying to merge onto interstate and could not accelerate which left me in between two lanes where those lanes were at highway speed. was able to limp to the shoulder to put in park and then back in drive (what the car information system was telling me to do). my vehicle has been in the shop 5 different times the month of november.2 fuel injector's, vapor canister and fuel tank - with potential fuel pump next. i am dissatisfied with this vehicle for this on top of many blind spots in vehicle.

On multiple occasions after i've filled the gas tank, the car starts sputtering and even stalling within 1/4 mile of the gas station, check engine lights come on, and i get a warning to stop and put the car into park then choose the gear i want. after a few miles' driving the problem goes away. the first time this happened in october2018 i had it towed to a jeep service center, and was told it was a fuel pump problem (code p1ddd), but because the sputtering was no longer occurring, i refused repair at that time. six weeks later on dec 4th 2018 after filling the tank, it happened a second time; the car stalled completely as i was making a left-turn at an intersection in busy los angeles traffic, putting me at risk of a collision. i managed to put the car into park, then drive and sputtered through the intersection. again, the problem resolved after a few miles' driving to the jeep service center and so i again refused repair. the same sputtering after filling the gas tank has happened occasionally over this year. most recently the check engine light (cel) came on intermittently a few days before filling the tank; when the sputtering/stalling occurred this time i returned to a jeep service center, because of the cel also being on around that time. i was told it was a fuel canister problem code (po456). this is an issue that has been observed by jeep owners of multiple models for over a decade (see https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t29898_ds631498) and is putting people's lives in danger. furthermore, fca is aware of this, as i see that fca star case s14000002 relates to this concern.*dt*jb

After filling the tank, car stalls or computer shuts down, during operation, after taking foot of accelerator, for approx 15 miles. dealer initially said it was was vapor canister and replaced. next fill up after replacement, continued to stall after fill up. dealership said they called fca and was told there was problems with rollover vent valve causing it so stick open (causing fuel to get into vapor system. only fix at this point was to replace the fuel tank. stalling indications happen as soon as foot is removed from accelerator (whether coasting or while stopped. battery light will come on and dash board will advise to put car in park and then back in gear. sometimes, it requires turning the ignition again to get car moving again. if coasting on interstate, this makes for a dangerous situation of car not responding to pick up speed during stop and go traffic. documentation is service tickets for both vapor canister replacement as well as fuel tank replacement.

The vehicle has a consistent issue of shutting off while driving after refueling. issue usually occurs within a mile of the gas station. the car will begin stuttering and lunging and will shut off stopped or even at highway speeds. the panel shows a transmission light and engine light and will not function again until after putting it in park, turning off the accessories and restarting the vehicle. the vehicle runs fine after restarting, and will not have the issue again until refueling. the vehicle shutting off on the highway is a very dangerous and nerve-racking experience.*dt

After filling gas tank, jeep will unexpectedly lose power and shut off. this happens several times. accelerating and pumping gas to keep it running will speed the process of returning to normal operation. gas is never overfilled. once pump shuts off no additional fuel is added at pump. took to dealership. they charged over 900 to replace the ecm. problem repeated on next fill up. this problem is widely reported on the internet even though dealership denies any knowledge of problem

After fueling, the jeep will start surging, the idling becomes erratic and then it will stall out with the parking brake light coming on, service transmission light comes on, the d on the ip flashes and when placing gear selector from d to p, the jeep makes a loud clunk which can be felt thru the floor. shifting into any other gear does the same. this has happened over 10 times since purchasing new. we never top off the fuel tank and take care to fill up if tank shows 1/4 full. it's been to the dealer, at least twice, to have the transmission "flashed" but the problem keeps recurring. each time the dealer (greenville chrysler, greenville, tx) tries to charge us a diagnostic fee which we adamantly reject after the first time because the problem is exactly the same. just 4 days ago, my wife was turning left at a light from a stop, after fueling, and it stalled in the middle of the intersection. she was able to restart it and drive but she could hear the loud clunk when putting it in d. she immediately came home and parked it and i confirmed the cel, service transmission light, parking light, flashing d on the ip and i switched from p to d and r and it clunked each time. i unplugged the battery to see if it would clear any codes and "reset" and let it sit overnight and this morning it started up fine with no warning lights on the ip. we took it this afternoon to pick up our son from school and it did the same thing with all the warning lights, clunking when shifting gear and we limped it home. i've disconnected the battery and will reconnect in the morning and take it to the dealership.*dt*jb*dt consumer stated in short, after filling up with fuel, the jeep stutters and/or shuts off. for me, this happened in parking lots or somewhere other than a public road. however, my wife has experienced this on the road on several occasions.the jeep will run fine for about 2-3 months and then starts to act up again. *jb

As i approached an intersection and pushed on the breaks the car stalled out. warning lights came on. after restarting the car it stalled out again when i tried to break a second time. this has happened at least 4 times. the last time it happened, the car stalled out in the middle of a main roadway as i approached a red light; i was almost rear-ended. i tried to restart the car. once i got it restarted i tried to put it in gear and the car bucket and stalled out again. i tried a number of times to restart the car and eventually got it started. i eventually got it into gear and started to drive off the roadway. the car drove very jittery and with little to no power. most warning lights on the dash came on - 4wd inoperable; put car into gear and restart, service transmission, traction control problem, battery problem. i have had it to two dealerships. once said it was the battery; i replaced it. the other first said it was oil consumption with the engine but when that turned out not to be the case the dealership and chrysler/jeep are telling me that this is a problem due to overfilling the gas and that the only fix is not to top off the gas tank. really? this only started at @ 42,000 miles. also, i don't think the gas was topped off each time this happened. i also live in a state where you cannot pump your own gas so if the gas station puts too much gas in the car stalls and creates a safety hazard? how much is too much gas? there is nothing in the car manual. there is no warning in and around the gas tank. this is a very serious problem and causes a very dangerous car to operate. there either needs to be a real fix for this problem or the cars need to be taken off the road. *ln*dt*jb

Car literally stops working while driving, locking steering and no power brakes to stop. has happened twice, while turning both directions. others online have had it happen while driving straight, and crashed as a result. jeep dealer blames oil level, transmission, and software, but no fixes have helped. currently installing new transmission due to horrible shifting. dealer states oil level can be 1/4" low on the dipstick (within the safe zone) and it can make the car quit running while you are driving 70 mph down the highway! many others have experienced the same issues! this is a dangerous car that must be taken off the road immediately.

Takata recall fill car with gas it will shut off and loose all soeed control and the serbice parking break comes on windshield wipers go you loose power steering lights flash, also car wont go again after you slow down to incomplete stop, also looses acceleration as youre driving with no warning will say to put in park and when you do you eventually loose power steering and you have to try to restart multiple times transmission jumps and jolts when shifting gears at any random time. this all happens very randomly and gets worse any time you put gas in especially filled up all the way have taken to dealer multiple times and they say there is nothing wrong with transmission they cant get it to duplicate issue this has been happening since ive had the car 4 years now and the other issues were supposedly electrical caused by a water bottle under my seat but yet the bottle was removed and im still having problems

19v-447. we began having this issue last year where we had no idea what the cause of it was. initially the vehicle would begin jerking while accelerating and continue even at high speeds. this was intermittent and whenever we took the vehicle in for service on this they could not replicate it happening. it began getting worse within a few months and one day last month when my wife was stopped at an intersection when the light turned green she accelerated and lost all power to the transmission causing the vehicle to become disabled in the middle of the intersection. we filed a claim and had our vehicle towed to the jeep dealership.. the vehicle will suddenly lose all power to the gas and cause the vehicle transmission light to come on. the vehicle blinks that in order to get the jeep to start up again it must be shifted into park and then it continues to blink the transmission warning. we've been lucky to not have been in an accident yet but this vehicle is unsafe to drive. we were told roughly a month ago when we brought it in for servicing at our local dealership it was flashed and fixed. after researching and finding there was no fix, we were clearly mislead by the repair shop. this happened again 3 days ago where it stopped in the middle of another intersection when my wife was accelerating from a stop and again was disabled in the middle of the intersection. if left for a period of time the jeep will start with the transmission light on and drive for a short period of time before doing it again.

When driving vehicle will enter what chrysler/jeep calls limp mode. vehicle will slow immediately to 35mph no matter previous speed. accelerator will not work. vehicle must be parked and restarted to reset. this happens with no warning. very dangerous when on interstate highway.

I have noticed in the past few weeks that my jeep will stall and will not start back up again. i try and it wants to but doesn't. then about five minutes later it will start and all is good. i thought it may be the gas but i have gone through different tanks and different gas stations and it continues to do this. usually first thing in the am. i have been stuck in the middle of the road as it will start to go but stalls. what is wrong woth this vehicle.?

Vehicle stalls while driving and idling after filling up. dealer says it's because of overfilling the tank, even though i explained i was told not to do this the first time i had an issue and haven't since (over 1 year). dealer says its the fuel pump and evap canister and will be $1,800 to replace. june marks 3 years that i've had this vehicle and this has happened 10+ times, and has had to towed to the dealership twice. *dt*jb

We have a 2014 jeep cherokee. the vehicle has been stalling after each gas fill up. the car has been doing this for 8-12 months, but last friday after a fill up it not only stalled but jolted and the transmission service light came on as well as the d and r signs began to flash on the dash and gear shift. i have heard from a dealership that the only way to correct the problem is to not fill the tank up all the way (who wants to do that!! ) or replace the entire fuel tank. from my research, the problem is the vapor/liquid separator valve. this vehicle only has 42,000 miles and of course the warranty has expired. jeep needs to recall this problem. it is dangerous and could easily stall in the middle of an intersection. someone is going to get killed!!!*dt vin unavailable.*jb

This car continues to turn off while i am driving! today it turned off on me on an intersection! the car jerked, started to shake & then many lights came on. the check engine light, the battery light, the brake light, many more (please see picture attached) i bought the car at carmax. had the exact same issue in november of 2018, got the car serviced under my extended warranty. now, 4 months later the same issue happened. in november, they informed me the issue was the car fuel injector & a bad sensor in the transmission. today's issues is still unknown, as the car has to be sent off for evaluation. but today was a very scary situation for me! i would hate this to happen to anyone with children in the car!

Purchased used november of 2017. has a little over 55,000 miles on it. have noticed that the transmission seems to take longer than it should to shift and sometimes doesn't shift up at all or will shift down or even to neutral sometimes while driving at higher speeds. also will lose power and then sometimes use a lot of power when not needed, causing the car to jerk or accelerate out of nowhere. happens very often and has been continually getting worse since i've purchased it. but severely noticed it on my last road trip about 6 weeks ago.

Within 7 months i have had to replace all 6 of my fuel injectors due to check engine light coming on

Jeep cherokee takes in fuel and over-flows into the over-flow charcoal tank and causes the transmission to shutdown due to an overabundance of fuel. i do not "top off" the fuel tank at all. i wait for the fuel pump to stop on it's own and after i refuel the vehicle starts to sputter and jerk. the vehicle has trouble shifting into gear and shuts down the vehicle and forces to place the in park and shift into a different gear. this happens to the vehicle everytime i refuel.*dt invalid vin *jb

While filling the fuel tank the pump at the station kept shutting off. i changed pumps and the problem persisted. i was not able to place more than 3 gallons of fuel in the car over 10 minutes. i changed gas stations and have continued to have the issue. the car cannot be filled. it has been to 3 dealers and is still not repaired. the fuel in the filler tube is backing up and not allowing gas to get smoothly into the tank. currently they cannot fix the issue although it is a registered known issue and does not affect all cars of this make, model and year there are plenty of complaints and jeep is not fixing the cars without considerable expense to most owners.

After each time of re-fueling the vehicle stalls while trying to drive, doesn't want to run; vehicle asks to be shifted into park and we try and pull over off on a busy 6 lane roadway. screen says service transmission after stalling. then the vehicle got stuck in 3rd gear. weren't sure if we would make it home. called jeep customer service and they would not help in any way.

While stop at a light the jeep stalled out with check engine light, parking gear light, and road hazard light came on. then when i put it in park and back in gear it jerked badly as if the engine came out and bunny hop as it took off like some one learning to drive a standard. some times while driving it roughly shifts into 2nd. and it stalled once on a major highway which is dangerous.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact experienced great difficulty while pumping fuel into the vehicle. the contact attempted several different methods to remedy the failure, but none of them worked. the contact took the vehicle to dch chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat of temecula (26845 ynez rd, temecula, ca 92591, (951) 225-4541) and was informed that there was no remedy. no further assistance was offered. while driving various speeds, the contact sensed a strong fuel odor emitting from the vehicle. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the manufacturer was notified and provided case number: [xxx]. the manufacturer referred the contact to nhtsa to file a vehicle safety complaint. the vehicle was not repaired. failure transmission & gas tank and fill mechanism. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000. *js *tp parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Trying to pump gas and the pump won't let me pump gas into the gas tank

1. jan 23, 2019lgoing around 35 mph, the car lost all power. dashboard lit up. brakes would not work, steering would not work. car stopped on its own. vehicle diagnosed by jeep as needing transmission control module replaced. did that within one week, transmission banging when going from first to second, second to third. 2. feb 07, 2019: driving around 55mph, vehicle lost all power. no lights came on but vehicle shut down. after five minutes, was able to restart it. 3. feb 7, 2019: turning right, vehicle lurched and skidded. 4. feb 08, 2019: filled gas tank, pulled away from pumps. vehicle lost power, shut down

After filling jeep up with gas car stalls when driving lose of all control out of know where i see many forms online about the same problem someone is going to get heart and nobody knows if it's the gas tank or fuel pump a very dangerous situation specially it stops doing it after going for a little it happens every time. *dt no vin available.*jb

After filling the gas tank, allowing nozzle to click off only once, the car runs for a minute or so then stalls, miss fires, and is hard to restart. it has died on the interstate on a few occasions, making it very unsafe . this also happens on city streets, stalling in traffic. this has occurred at least 12-15 times in the last 3 years.

While driving on the highway at 60 mph our 2014 jeep unexpectedly shifted into neutral and lost power. the dash indicated the loss of power by stating rpm's are falling and the lights on the dash flashed on / off. fortunately our daughter was able to make it to an exit ramp and pull off safely. i understand there is a recall in place for this problem.

Multiple times after fueling up my vehicle my car will start to shake and sputter and just stall. has happened while on the highway with my family and almost caused a bad wreck. most recently it happened again on local streets. dealer keeps saying they can't figure it out but i videotaped the issue. also when fueling up the vehicle it gives a problem and takes forever to fuel up and spits gas out and back on to me . i don't feel safe driving this car anymore with my family and fca doesn't want to acknowledge there is an issue and says just fill the tank up only 3/4 .. something needs to be done !!

While driving 45 mph on a main road, my vehicle engine lost power in the middle on an intersection and i was almost t boned, 6 days after i financed it. my vechile shifts really hard and i do not feel safe when driving it. i have read that this has to do with the 9 speed transmission and i am afraid the transmission will completely go out if i continue to drive it like described. i also just had to replace the fuel pump and evap system which caused the vechiles engine to shut off and lose power steering and locked the brakes. it would be very helpful if this issue got fixed. i don't even want to drive this vechile anymore, it's unsafe for me, for children, and for other drivers on the road around me.

While driving vehicle on rural 2 lane road at 40-60 mph seems to shift into neutral, and traction control light comes on. after letting off throttle and rpm's come down it goes back in to gear and can then drive on. it sometimes happens several times within a couple minutes then seems fine.

Refueling system - during refueling, something in that process continues to cut off, acting as though the tank is full. we know this is not the case as we drive 200 miles per week round trip to work. this happens no matter which gas station we fill up at. this has also happened to our brother-in-laws vehicle. still pending to be fixed as hopefully, it is under our warranty.

After fueling up and placing the vehicle in park; during idle, the jeep then begins to shake. the rpm needle drops suddenly then jumps right back up. no warning light turns on.

I filled my gas tank up, drove it about a mile down the road, pulled into my parking spot, and the brakes and steering wheel locked. on the screen is said 'press brake and put into gear'. the breaks were locked and it was already in drive to i put it in park and turned the vehicle off and back on. i was able to finish pulling into my parking spot and it seemed to be fine. my husband got into the car and everything seemed to be okay with it and he decided to drive it right down the road and see what was going on with it. about 3 miles down the road, he was going the speed limit, 45 mph, and the entire vehicle comes to a stop in the middle of an intersection, the brakes lock, the steering wheel locks and the engine cut off and the screen said service transmission and the check engine light came on. we had it towed to the jeep dealership and they said the code was for a fuel pump. we were told this was currently under investigation and was a big issue with these models. they said it needs a new fuel pump and evac system.

My jeep bucks and then stalls out every time i fill it up with gas. whether i am driving 10 mph or 75 mph. i almost died today because my car bucked and then instantly turned off on the highway on the way to work. it was absolutely terrifying. i then find out that this i actually a common issue amongst jeeps and has yet to be recalled. i am livid and terrified of driving my car now. i need this handled and paid for immediately . how can a car company willingly have people in unsafe situations like this and not fix it ! i am so angry and so shaken up .

The vehicle's gas tank has stopped working properly. when i try to fill it up, it almost immediately stops the pump and usually shoot gas back out all over me hand and clothes. i am able to get very small amounts of gas in the tank, but not without getting gas spilled everywhere. this appears to be a major safety/fire hazard. my local jeep dealer first said they could not diagnose the problem and later said that i needed a new fuel tank and that it would cost about $1200 plus. i then called chrysler to report the problem to see if they would voluntarily fix it. too say that it was an unpleasant experience dealing with their customer service representatives would be an understatement. chrysler said that since my vehicle was a 2014 jeep cherokee, that it was my problem and they would not replace my gas tank. they did not appear to care that gas getting all over my hands and clothes was dangerous.

After refilling fuel, the car turned off while driving almost causing an accident. this particular car requires the system to be placed in park to restart. dealer looked into their system and discovered tsb to replace canister and fuel pump.

Every single time that i get gas, my car buckles up and then stalls and shuts off. this has been a problem for about 10 months now. this has become a high,y dangerous situation in the fact that the car stalls and shuts off when it should be good to go after getting a brand new tank of gas. i have spent too much money trying to figure out the issue, when this seems to be a major problem to all jeep owners. what is it going to take, someone getting killed because their car stalled for someone to step up and doing something about this?! i have been reading and once i realized that i wasn't alone and this was happening to majority of jeep owners it has made me so angry that this hasn't been a recall. the car is in motion and it buckles really bad and then stalls and shuts off. this is absolutely ridiculous that no one has stepped up and done something about this when i know so many people have put in a compliant. this needs to be fixed. https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t29898_ds631498 read here all the issues people are having. do something.*dt vin not available. *jb

The technician stated that the gas tank "went bad". unable to fuel vehicle. said this has happened to several jeep cherokee models. recurring problem. large cost to replace. safety hazard when filling and possible major safety hazard when driving. pressure issues inside tank.

When refueling the vehicle would shut off prematurely as if it was full after on 1-2 tenths of a gallon. to fill up the tank took about 10 minutes because of this malfunctioning. soon after this the transmission started to default and shift to neutral which is a bad thing when crossing multiple lanes of oncoming traffic. what i thought was safe i soon learned was a serious risk to others as well as myself. this started happening more frequently and a solution was never found. the vehicle would work fine for a few weeks and then the vicious cycle of the ongoing issue of defaulting to neutral while in traffic would occur. just the other day the diagnosis "post warranty" identified that the vapor canister and fuel pump was the issue. earlier i was told that replacing the battery solved the transmission problem, which wasn't to be. replacing the vapor canister, and fuel pump cost $1292.45 and i've only driven my vehicle from the dealership to the garage.

9-speed auto transmission which mine has rough, delayed or sudden shifting or failure to shift conditions with grinding or other loud noise during shifting ' harsh engagement of gears; sudden or harsh acceleration/deceleration; sudden loss of power; premature transmission wear or failure.

When accelerating from a stoplight the service transmission light came on the car seemed to lose the ability to accelerate properly. it reset itself once we came to a complete stop. then within the next few miles, it did it again, the same scenario. then it did it an again the third time and it would not accelerate so we had to pull off to the side of the road and put it in park. it was dangerous because we were in a very busy intersection the third time. it has done it several other occasions and the only way we can get keep it from doing that again is to drive in manual mode.

My vehicle doesn't start when i press the start button. i have to take my foot off the brakes and try starting it again. it seems to be a fuel intake issue.
