We have classified the 227 complaints from 2014 Jeep Cherokee about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Vehicle fails to shift properly and stalls upon acceleration from complete stops, driving on highway and normal roads. issue started 7 months after purchase at 8,573 miles. jeep taken to dealer on march 10, 2015, who reprogrammed transmission & power train modules & reprogrammed restraint control module. 5/15 - jeep was making clunking noise and grinding noises - rear differential was replaced at 14k miles; 5/27 - jeep still made grinding noise when placed into gear - power transfer unit & skid plate replaced as tech found fluid had leaked into ptu causing internal damage. 7/7 - jeep still not shifting properly, rpms rev to 5 & 6k before shifting. slow acceleration has almost caused multiple crashes!! dealer reprogrammed transmission control module. 10/2/15 - lift gate won't open with fob or by hand & won't lock when closed manually - open recall with no remedy avail, i was told not to use it until fixed. dealer has no eta for the fix and this issue can cause fire!! shifting is still an issue, dealer claimed they were unable to reproduce the issue yet the check in & out mileage remained unchanged at 20,635. the parking sensors go off in drive thru's, yet another issue they can't reproduce. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle which is needed for work!!! i attempted to trade it in but past service issues have depreciated it's value to the point of no return!
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while attempting to utilize the liftgate, it failed to operate using the remote. the contact stated that the failure occurred on several occasions and the liftgate had to be used manually. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v393000 (structure) and 15v509000 (visibility); however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 7,000.
The navigation system in the uconnect 8.4 an froze constantly during driving. when it was navigating me for long distance, the system crashed and was unable to restart the navigation process. the problem was repeatable, for example for the route from "133-42 39th ave new york, 11354" to "69 n eagleville rd, storrs, ct 06269".
Several times while i was driving the digital dash display went blank, red "battery" indicator came on, "no bus" fault message appeared, the headlights went off, the turn signal did not work, radio did not work, door locks would not work (lock/unlock). the safety issue is to lose function of headlights and turn signal while driving. also if a crash were to occur, i may not be able to exit my vehicle in an emergency, due to not being able to unlock my doors. between august 27, 2015 and september 14, 2015 this occurred four (4) separate times. the vehicle was turned in for service each time this occurred. the problem is intermittent, during driving it can come and go. service department at authorized jeep dealer stated that they do not have any instrumentation to troubleshoot can bus and they can not duplicate the issue. i would pull over into a safe area and take photos of the dash showing the faults. service department can only reset faults as displayed on a tablet when plugged into the vehicle. again dealer has no tools to look up bus problems, electrical contact issue, etc.
Episode one: while driving up hill at about 30 miles and hour car jerked into neutral, instrument cluster flashed engine light warning, transmission light warning, parking break warning, traction control warning and flashed "service transmission" and service parking brake". operator restarted car three times before transmission would engage. this cleared all warnings except "check engine" light. car was driven to dealer where without documentation they stated that they flashed the transmission control module and then car was returned to owner. second episode: on sept 3, 2015 operator was driving about 55 miles per hour when suddenly with a jerk the car shifted into neutral and the car jerked into neutral, instrument cluster flashed engine light warning, transmission light warning, parking break warning, traction control warning and flashed "service transmission" and service parking brake". . operator was able to pull over to the side where he restarted the car about 4 times before transmission would engage. then about 10 miles further on the road, coming up to a stop sign the same behavior reoccurred. car was delivered to dealer on 9-03-2015 and their service report of 9-04-2015 indicates that they flashed tcm, bcm, ipc and r40 recall. episode three: september 6 2015 operator was driving car up to stop sign car jerked into neutral, instrument cluster flashed engine light warning, transmission light warning, parking break warning, traction control warning and flashed "service transmission" and service parking brake". from that point to the dealer operator noted that the engine rpm maintained at about 3000rpm instead of fluctuating normally as with normal driving.
I had a roll away incident back around august 25th 2015 i pulled into my driveway and put the car (2014 jeep grand cherokee overland) in park .i turned it off and exited the car. it started rolling forward so i jumped back in the car and put on the brake then moved it backwards a little and exited the car again. again the car was in park and shut off.as i was walking away from the car it rolled forward again about 8 feet .i know it was in park, when it was not in gear. i got out of the vehicle and it started to roll back on me. i quickly jumped back into the vehicle to stop it without accident, this time. now i put a block in front of the tire so it wont roll away.i wont park it on a hill.dealer cant seem to find a problem.
The car did not accelerate when peddle was pushed (in heavy traffic) then jumped suddenly to accelerate into oncoming traffic. this vehicle has had complete valve body failure in less than 3,000 miles and numerous updates to the computer because of uneven shifting and acceleration. the latest update seemed to work better for a few weeks and now is worse than previously. the chrysler dealer (ron carter alvin texas) refuses to return my calls for service or to set a service date.
Vehicle was being operated on a straight and level road at 45 mph when the dashboard electrical and radio system went dark, and there was a loss of power steering at the same time. in about two seconds, the vehicle restarted without any movement by the driver. she had both hands on the wheel so that she could control the vehicle due to the loss of the power steering. when the vehicle restarted on its own, the normal housekeeping functions occurred on the dash, the radio came back on, and power steering came back. two lights illuminated on the dash that were not normal. one was the check engine light that came on continuous, and the squigily traction light came on until she was able to pull into a parking lot where she stopped the vehicle and shut the engine off. when she restarted the vehicle, the traction light did not come back on, however the check engine light did come back on in a continuous mode. vehicle is currently at charlie's dodge/jeep dealership in maumee, oh being diagnosed.
Car has lost power while driving 3x. car was in motion/traffic travelling at 65mph, 45mph, 65 mph.dealer/manufacturer are not able to identify problem. service advisor at steven's creek chrysler, dodge, jeep stated that jeep needs to buy the car back but manufacturer is unable to help out. car towed twice to dealer.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving at any speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, waited for a few minutes, and restarted the vehicle. the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed as a software failure that needed to be reprogrammed. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
I bought this car brand new, and have had problems with it starting randomly, locking, and unlocking randomly, alarm going off in the middle of night, (yes, my neighbors hate me) and now my stereo goes in and out..

A list of the current life threatening and non life threatening conditions i have encountered with my jeep cherokee trailhawk. the most serious being a persistent problem in relation to the transmission shifting and accelerating causing the car to jerk and in some cases whiplash. as an electrical engineer i have seen the electronic repairs made to the vehicle and yet there is still persistent mechanical problems with this transmission. i have encountered lint mode were the car will not move from gears 1, 2, or 3 on 65mph highway which i believe has caused irreversible damage to the car. the issue occurred in july on route 202 in a cattle shoot created by summer time road work i had to continue to drive the vehicle nearly 2 miles until i was able to pull over and asses the issue. below is a list of current and past problems: -transmission stopped on a 65mph highway (new software loaded still a problem) -shifter locked in drive couldn't shift to neutral took 4 hours to shut car off at dealership (entire shifter replaced) - navigation (replaced two times, on my third nav system) - window motor mechanism (replaced) - moonroof shade and assembly (being replaced this week) -faulty wiring of cigarette lighter causing fuse to blow due to electrical short (rewired and fuse replaced) -speaker (replaced) -waterproofing trim falling off (replaced) -rattling from bolts for seat-belts (attempted fix didn't work) -o2 sensor causing multiple engine starts (replaced) -front seat uneven (replaced) -recalls ranging from hacking to electrical shorts that have been noted to cause a serious electrical fire
I have received 3 recall alerts on different problems with the car. when i call the dealer they said they can not fix because chrysler has not issued/delivered the parts. it has been over 3 2/12 months since the first recall alert and i have gotten two more additional notices since then. all are safety related issues. unacceptable.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the rpms increased independently and the vehicle felt rough while driving in third gear. in addition, the vehicle suddenly increased speed and the brake pedal was depressed with excessive force in order to decrease the vehicles speed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v509000 (visibility) but the recall remedy was not yet available. the contact felt that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.
On 2 occasions,-june and august 2015, parked vehicle on first floor of an entertainment complex and found engine running upon return (first time it ran for 4 hours/ second time for 2 hours unattended).
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact used the remote to open the liftgate, however, when attempting to close the liftgate with the automatic button, it failed to close. the contact had to manually close the liftgate. the contact later tried again and the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the liftgate control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v393000 (electrical system) however, the part for the recall repair was not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 10,000.
Tl* the contact owned a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving 55 mph, the contact smelled a strong burning odor and noticed smoke emitting from the front passenger door. within several minutes, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was destroyed. the failure mileage was 16,532. updated 8/21/15*cn updated 12/1/2015*js
Driving home, the car suddenly shifted from drive to neutral. alarm sounded and a message of shift to park and restart. engine light came on dash display. the engine continue to run, but there was no power to the transmission. we coasted off the road. i put the car in park and it restarted. after a few seconds the transmission re-engaged. we were near the dealer where we purchased the car. they gave us a loaner and kept the car. we were advised there was a recall on transmission module and powertrain module. we picked our car up from the dealer and it seemed fine. but on 5/20/15 we experienced the same problem. the dealer said they reprogrammed the electronics and road tested the car and all was well. on 6/4/15 we had the same failure. we just missed having another vehicle run into us since the car just stopped it's forward progress. the dealer has the car now. the said they have no idea at this time (3:00 pm) what the problem could be. the first two failures weren't bad because we were the only vehicle on the road. the third failure nearly caused an accident. i just spoke with the service department. they said the vehicle had failed during a test drive, but they cannot isolate the failure at this time.
Will not start. the odometer screen and radio screen light, when i depress the brake peddle and press the start button both screens black out and vehicle does not start. the screens light back up and radio starts playing. the only message on the odometer screen is the start sequence. press the brake peddle and press the start button. jeep not turning over - not trying to start. *tr
New software update was done to car per recall for "reliability". this recall changes the way the car shifts, such as remaining in 3rd gear, rather than downshifting to 1 or 2. a low speeds such as 15 mph when driving up a hill, the car will not down shift and slow down almost to a stop. depressing accelerator does not lead to any further acceleration until approx 3/4 of the way down. at this time the car downshifts to 1st and accelerates rapidly, even breaking traction. similarly when cruising at a steady speed such as 20 mph car remains in 3rd gear, causing engine lugging and very slow acceleration, once causing a near accident as the car did not accelerate as quickly as it did before this software update. jeep dealer says "shifting as intended" and no errors. this behavior was not present before software update and did not change when dealer attempted reflash. *tr
While driving the odometer messages started popping up and an alert chimed for each one: acc / fcw unavailable service required; big red battery icon and low voltage message; park assist off message; radio screen went blank; small red battery icon remained lit on the odometer screen. i then selected to view the battery voltage along with my speed on the odometer screen. the voltage moved from 16 to 15 and stopped at 14v (1/2 charge) all in less than 5 seconds. i tried to make a hands-free phone call and as the phone was ringing the phone call was terminated by the vehicle. *tr
Driving 80mph on highway when computer shut down, lost power steering, lost response from throttle, rpm went to 0, mph went to 0. note on dash computer said to shift into desired gear when the car was already in drive. no check engine light came on. *tr
Vehicle suddendly stalls, check engine light came on and a message that says service transmission, press parking brake, when started the vehicle and put it in reverse a big noise was heard from under the car this happened 3 times. i dont feel safe taking my family in this car that can stall in the middle of a highway, and can cause a big accident. *tr
Picked vehicle up from dealer - they made sure battery was fully charged and suggested it be driven before taking home. on the interstate at 65-75 mph activated the adaptive cruise control. it shut itself off in approximately 10 seconds. then a message on the odometer: acc / fcw unavailable service required; message low voltage; radio screen went blank then came back on. a small red battery icon remained lit on the odometer screen. *tr
70 mph on interstate hwy, suddenly emergency brake comes on. car immediately brakes to 35 mph before car can be moved to emergency lane. mil light is on, emergency brake light is on, transmission gear light is flashing, screen command says "park the car, service transmission and parking brake". emergency brake light on console is off. ignition turned on and off 6-8 times, try to drive, car won't move. cycling ignition and transmission shifter car suddenly starts working normally except for mil light. scan revels no codes. car runs fine for two weeks and again at 70 mph on interstate the emergency brake comes almost stopping the car in slow lane. repeated the procedure referenced above for about 5 minutes until the car started running normally. mil was on for 50 miles but no codes stored or freeze frame. this occurred 5 days after having recall r05 performed, rrt 14-040, and pcm update. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was restarted after fifteen minutes. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure was unable to be determined. the failure recurred three additional times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 32,000.
Started backing out of parking space; stopped for vehicle passing behind; started to resume backing; numerous warning lights and tones started; such as a message to get service; transmission would not engage and move vehicle; coasted to another parking space; vehicle engine would rev when gas pedal pressed but transmission still would not engage; clunks were heard as shifter was moved to neutral, park, drive and reverse; turned off engine and waited; several minutes later everything was normal when engine was started. had vehicle serviced at jeep dealer. vehicle was reprogrammed by a fca technician on 03/11/15. on 3/24/15, mileage: 13,749 the same vehicle performed similar to first event as stated in the above description. this event occurred as vehicle approached a traffic signal; moving around 20 mph. transmission would not engage. coasted to a safe area. turned off switch to engine; waited, then restarted; system reset. all appeared to be normal except park sense system is inoperable; on/off switch for park sense will not resolve inoperable status. headed to dealer again tomorrow for service. this is a serious safety issue. *tr
The car completely shuts down with no indication or warning while driving, steering wheel locks. immediately after shutting down the brake (however the gear is in drive) and battery light displays. i take gear out of drive and put it in park, wait a minute or two at times right in the middle of residential street or the end of a turn but it always occur while the car is in motion. i have to crank the ignition several times while tapping down on the gas pedal until the engine starts, hit the brake release, put gear back in drive or at times neutral then back in drive in order to move. this occurrence happened a few times before repairs and about two or three times daily after transmission repairs, and software updates. when pushing down on brakes to make a stop the car will accelerate (as if it's confused whether to stop or go, although i'm pressing the brake to stop) before coming to a complete stop. when backing up or switching gears it's a forceful loud jerk between shifting gears. while driving out of the blue the windshield wipers came on (no rain) and i was not able to disable them . i pulled over on the shoulder and turned the car off waiting a moment before restarting they continued to go back and forth on a dry window they stop on their own about 20 minutes later. speedometer blanking in and out. car burning excessive amounts of gas. prior to engine shut down no indication or warning messages however after repairs of transmission and software updates the engine, throttle, abs lights, and transmission service message appear and disappear simultaneously when the car is running as expected. tire pressure display inconsistent. *tr
Electrical issues and update to 2/9/15 complaint. as requested by jeep customer care, took 2014 cherokee for second opinion for headlight issue. (new car, have only had 5 months). upon leaving the dealer, multifunction / check engine warning light went off. thankfully, close to dealership, returned 1.5 miles - ran diagnostics. tech stated pages of error codes, no idea could be transmission, steering column, stability control, radio, abs, anything electrical. had to leave the car as advised unsafe to drive. 2 days later, no idea whats wrong, still at service dept. today, tech said jeep told them to drive car 20 miles and see if the code is gone. informed dealer this is unacceptable for jeep and further compromises safety of this vehicle. they need to pinpoint exactly what caused the check engine code. *tr
2 times already i have had to take my car into the dealership because it would shut off randomly while driving. this has happened while on the highway and also while on busy streets. so far i have been able to drift to the side of the road, put the car in park and then turn the car off and back on. the car sputters when restarting and on multiple occasions will stall again. both times they tried to blame it on the oil change being overdue. the 2nd time i had to have the car towed to the dealership and they stated there was no oil in the car. how a car loses oil if there isn't a leak, i'm not sure. this is now the third time it is happening and based on the car's computer i still have 30% to go before needing an oil change and the car is shutting off on me again randomly. i was at the dealership for the 2nd time less than 3 months ago. i drive in miami and have been lucky that my son was not in the car with me.
When shifting from park to reverse or drive, the vehicle will occasionally not shift into gear, even though the display and shift control indicates that the car is in reverse or drive. when this happens, when i release the brake and apply the gas, the car does not move. this happens about once every 10-15 times the car is shifted from park. the most serious incident happened when i was parked uphill. i shifted the car into drive, but when i pushed the accelerator pedal the car did not move forward but instead started rolling backward. i had to move the shifter into park, and again into drive before the gear would engage. additionally, there have been times that the car will not accelerate after being stopped at an intersection. when i apply the gas, the car will hesitate for 1-2 seconds before engaging and moving forward. i am concerned that these issues will end up placing myself or my occupants in danger if an emergency situation arises while on the road, or if the transmission fails completely and i roll back into another car. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving various speeds, the system board randomly lost power and the vehicle suddenly shut off. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the cause of the failures was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 20,000.
This car has been nothing but trouble since 1500 miles off the lot brand new jeep. and then at 2800 and then at 3000 miles they replaced the power control module then two more times for software update. then at 10250 they tell me the transmission has gone and needs to be replaced. as if anything else can go wrong with this car the tires they put on from the dealership firestone my aft right tire split on the sidewall for no reason at all the only damage on the tire was the crack on the tire. so not only is the car defective but the wheels from firestone as well. has anyone else experienced my horrible luck. *tr

My wife was on her way to work for the last day before christmas and got 2 blocks from the house before calling for help. the vehicle lost power and luckily she was able to get off of the road. it was rainy both the day before and that morning also. she said there was a message that came up saying shift into park and start the car. she couldn't get it to start again. i met her and after trying, got the car going but noticed that i didn't feel any response or hear any engine revving when pushing the gas pedal down. it also seemed to start fairly rough. she took my vehicle to work. i checked the vehicle later and it started ok. the battery voltage was the normal 12.6v and 14.7v when running. at first i thought it was a fluke. the next day as the vehicle wouldn't start. we decided to wait until fri morning with christmas being thurs. the vehicle did start before the flatbed towed it off to the dealer. the dealer had the vehicle all day and was about ready for me to pick it up when they noticed a loss in pressure at the fuel pump and decided to replace it. after we got the vehicle back it ran ok for a few days but then on 1/3/2015 it cut out again about two blocks from our house in the other direction.. it was again rainy outside. she again saw the same message. i met her and got it started again but also again noticed no reaction to stepping on the gas pedal. when i shifted it into reverse it then seemed to react to giving it gas fine and drove home ok. we took it to church and around town the next day and it seemed fairly normal. having gone through rough shifting problems with this vehicle early and two transmission problems with chrysler grand voyagers and then this jeep and the articles on this site that seem to be pointing to jeep transmissions i think chrysler better come up with the right fix very soon before someone gets killed. *tr
In december 2014, the 2014 jeep cherokee shut off twice in one evening due to transmission related issues: 1) the first occurrence, the jeep was at a red light, when the light changed & the gas pedal was pressed the car lurched and made a loud thump sound and the malfunction indicator light (mil) was illuminated and an error message related to the transmission came on. the car would not accelerate & i was forced to coast into dark parking lot alone. the manual said the vehicle should be serviced if the light stays on through several driving cycles and that the vehicle most likely did not require towing. 2) after following the manual, i turned the car back on and attempted to drive to a safe location until the car could be taken in for service (it was now around 11:00pm). the car drove normally for about 5 minutes until i got on the highway (speed limit 55 mph) & the transmission began to pull & in the middle of the highway thumped and the engine shut off forcing me to rapidly pull over into a dangerous exit ramp at around midnight in the middle of an icy winter. the car would not turn back on & i had to have the car towed. the dealership kept the car for about a week & said the issue was an internal failure of the transmission control module (which they replaced & updated the software). in may 2015, i had been having several issues with the car including another check engine light so i brought it in again for service (this is now the 4th time i had been to the dealership for a variety of issues). the transmission was pulling, jerking, & overall having issues shifting so i requested they service the transmission again. the dealership had to preform a transmission re-learn to improve the shifting. after a couple of days, the transmission was jerking again & i am going to be taking the car back in again for service (now the 5th visit to the dealership).
While driving the vehicle the instrument panel starting running a check system cycle, ie. transmission service needed, anti-lock brake need service, battery needed to be checked, mil was on, etc. (i have video of one occurrence) and i was no longer able to accelerate the car even though the engine was still running. the electronic parking brake was engaged and i could not disengage it. after the car slowed down i turned the engine off and on several times until i was able to accelerate the car. the mil was now on steadily. this has happened 4 times now. *tr
I was driving on a 4 lane highway slowing down for a light that had gone from red to green. as i accelerated to go through the light my vehicle suddenly stopped and would not move. it was dead in the water type of stop. i put on my flashers and tried to start the engine again. it would not start. i put on the brake and pressed the start button and opened the driver door. i was able to start the engine but the car would not move. after doing this twice i was able to start the car and move to the center of the highway. a police officer stopped to check on me and asked if i could move to a safer place. i was able to move the vehicle to a parking lot. the police officer made sure that i was ok and left. i then called jeep for a tow. what i saw when this happened was the no skid light, the service transmission, and several lights on the left side of the screen. it showed the brake was on but it was not on. the engine light was on and stayed on. i have not heard anything from the dealership at this time. if i had been on a normal work day i would have been on the expressway. there is no doubt that something far more serious would have happened to me. i am not sure that i can drive this vehicle again. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received a notification for recall nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). the dealer was contacted and was unable to specify when the parts would become available. the contact had not made the manufacturer aware. the vehicle had not exhibited the failure.
On december 7th, the car (2014 jeep cherokee with 12,600 miles) lost power unexpectedly while i approached a stoplight, and had to be coasted to the side of the road. we waited approximately 10 minutes, and it restarted. no warning or check engine lights came on. over the next several days, we had approximately 3 instances where the car either wouldn't start, or would lose power. still no warning lights came on indicating an issue. as we believed this to be a potential safety issue, we took it to the local jeep dealership and asked them to check it out. they kept it for 6 days and indicated that they could not recreate the issue. we picked the car up on dec. 16th. on december 25 the car again lost all power while driving (lost engine, power steering, and power breaks). fortunately this occurred on a local road and the car was able to be coasted to stop without incident. this time several indicators illuminated including the 'check engine' light. we had the car towed the next day to the same dealer. at the time of this writing, the dealership has had the car 22 days, and still have not been able to diagnose the issue. they did replace the pcm, however this did not correct the issue. i'm filing this complaint because of the potential safety issue. i also have a concern because jeep is not able to properly diagnose the problem in a reasonable amount of time. *tr
I was traveling on the interstate in the left lane at highway speeds when i lost my forward drive gear, my vehicle rapidly slowed causing vehicles behind me to break. my display was telling me to shut the engine off and restart the vehicle. my gear shift indicator was flashing rapidly between drive and natural. i tried to get over to the right lane then the shoulder as other vehicles avoided me. my check engine light was on and i had no ability to accelerate. i got to the shoulder, put the vehicle in park, shut off the engine and then restarted. i was then able to proceed directly to the dealer along the shoulder of the interstate without further incident. my check engine light remained on. the service manager ran a quick check and said the vehicle recorded over 20 faults at the same time which ranged from disengaging the anti lock breaks to disabling my forward drive. he said he had never seen before. he returned the vehicle to me the same evening because he did not know how to fix it, but said it was an electrical failure of some type. i contacted jeep case # 26113535. although they attempted to resolve the issue they ultimately closed the case because once the dealer initially cleared the faults the vehicle could not be diagnosed until it happens again. i contacted jeep reference number 26160146 and expressed my concern that they had closed the case claiming that i had not taken the vehicle to have it diagnosed even though they had talked to the dealer who told them he could not do it. jeep wants me to wait until it happens again. if i have to wait the until next time my vehicle looses all forward drive and ability to accelerate out of a dangerous situation there may be a fatality or major accident depending on where, traffic conditions and weather conditions it happens.there is obviously something wrong with the vehicle which jeep is choosing to ignore.. *js
I purchased my brand new 2014 jeep cherokee with 30 miles. after about 1500 miles it began shifting very hard in low gears jerking , it red lines extremely hard to where it will jolt the jeep and when i come to a stop it would begin raise rpms and accelerate. it would scare me senseless. i took it to the dealership they said that's how it performs and made me leave. 400 miles later the transmission completely blew out going 50 in la traffic. it was on back order for a month. since then i have taken it in 8 times for the same problem a few times they have updated the tcm now they are saying there is no codes and they cannot duplicate it, even though it does it every single time. the jeep will not know what gear to shift and leave me stranded in intersections before it shifts and peels out. when i break it'll pick up speed it is extremely unsafe and unreliable. jeep has no fix for it and will not buy it back nor compensate me in anyway this isn't right and they should be forced to buy these be back. last weekend i took it on a trip going downhill at 60 mph 2000 rpm i tapped the break and the jeep revved to 5000 rpms also my horn is he hardest horn to push ever it does not work. the service department said its a little harder than normal but they cannot replace it since it doesn't give a code .everyone and their mother is concerned and complains about this issue. one day this thing is going to get me in a wreck. i paid good money for this vehicle i just want something safe and reliable for my family. i wish jeep chrysler however it is would just do the right thing.
This is the 4th incident for this car. first incident was 10.18.14. second incident was 11.13.14. third incident was 11.24.14. and this 4th incident took place 11.25.14. while driving on the highway the front end collision light icon displayed on the dashboard suddenly, forcing my cruise control off and drastically declining my speed with cars behind me. there were no cars immediately ahead of me or indicate why the car sensed a collision. *tr
#1-car jerks itself out of lane very heavily to the left, almost turns itself left on it's own when lane sense is turned on but not sensing the lane (white indication light). car does not jerk left when lane sense is sesing the lane properly (green indication light). #2-park sense flashes on the screen 5-6 times while i?m driving. it thinks i?m parking while driving the car or slowing the car down into a turn lane. it literally displays the diagram of car with yellow bars showing how close i am to something while driving or waiting in a turn lane, however, there were no cars or obstacles ahead of me, nor am i parking. at one point i was pulling the car left into the left hand lane to turn into my neighborhood. i was not at a full stop, but almost, in the left-hand turn lane. park sense flashed 5 times on and off each time a car passed me in the other direction. #3-lane sense cannot sense the lane 90% of the time on main streets, only highways. *tr
I received a phone call from my wife who was on her way home from work at approximately 1825hrs. she went on to explain to me that her vehicle was "acting" up again with all the same symptoms as last time (first incident has already been submitted under same information). she lost a significant amount of power while traveling on a busy highway where the speed posted is 65mph. when this happened she pulled off to shoulder and took photographs with her iphone to keep for our records and to what her dash was displaying. she stopped while on the shoulder and put the vehicle in park and turned off the ignition. after some time she turned the ignition on and put the vehicle in drive when she noticed the vehicle "jerked" and made a loud clunky noise. this is the second incident. the first incident dealership was unable to find any problems under the diagnostics they ran. *tr
On my way to work one morning, i was driving on a three-lane highway, going roughly 73 mph when suddenly, as i was attempting to maintain my current speed 'consistent with traffic flow 'my vehicle would not enable me to accelerate. during my inability to accelerate, my vehicles electrical system surged, illuminating my check engine light, traction control light, and cabin lights. as a result, in order to remain uninjured, i crossed three lanes of moderately congested traffic, and turned my vehicle off for approximately 5-7 mins. upon starting my car, i was able to accelerate; however, both lights were lit on my dashboard. after driving 130 plus miles, i immediately drove to the dealership i purchased my vehicle from'they conducted tests; resulting in a computer glitch. the dealership addressed this by clearing the transmission control module. this answer was very unsatisfactory to me as i purchased this vehicle brand new in june 2014 with less than 100 miles. therefore, i contacted the manufacture and sought assistance. since, i have been asked to make an appointment with 2 different dealerships, totaling 4 service visits 'all inclusive. over all, i am extremely upset and unsatisfied. buying a new vehicle with transmission issues and or computer issues is not ideal or expected. now, i am slightly paranoid every time i drive my vehicle 'hoping i will be alive to retell both the dealership and manufacture this problem has been duplicated. *tr
