Problems with 2017 Honda CR-V ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL

On average, the 2017 Honda CR-V starts to “feel” problems with the ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL and its various aspects after 22 554 miles.

Recently reported ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL problems on 2017 Honda CR-V

I have a 2017 honda crv. this is the second time i had the same issue. all my warning light electric parking brake problem, charging system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, electric parking brake problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (eps) problem, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, hill start assist problem. are back on. when this happens for the first time dealership tole me their was an update to the system which will fix the issue. month later i am having the same issue.

While diving randomly at high speeds (60+ mph) and while turning in very good weather all warning lights light up (i have a video) and the vehicle loses power. this has happened a number of times on the highways and a major safety concern. i had to pull out of the highway stop and restart for the vehicle to regain power but the warning lights continue to be lit. after a couple of start and stop it disappears. it is a major safety concern and i have been lucky so far. i have approached the dealership thrice about the issue and they have replaced 2 sensors and updated the software but the issue persists.

While placing car into park shifter button broke out.

My car was in motion i was making a right turn into the highway when my car just stopped. i turned it off, when i tried to turn it back on, it didn't. i started to smell something burning. so i just left it alone. only the lights on the dashboard and the radio turned on, i was able to control the windows. the warning lights that came up were the electronic power steering, charging system, and the check engine lights.

While driving my car simply slams on the brakes out of no where. there was nothing in front of me. i was traveling approximately 45 miles an hour on an exit ramp when the car beeped, flashed brake, and it braked even thought my foot was still on the gas. the seat belt tightened up and the car stopped. once it realized there was nothing there, it began to accelerate like a rocket ship. this has happened before on sunny days when it must have misread shadows on the road as objects and again, slammed on the breaks. if there had been a car behind me this morning, i have no doubt i would have been in a serious accident. what is wrong with this? i had brought it to the dealer before and i was insulted that they said my car was dirty. i would have died! if their sensors cannot function in a michigan spring, they need to do something!

I was driving my honda cr-v (2017 model ex awd) on a highway at 40 to 50 mph speed. it was raining at that time. i experienced big jerks couple of times and lost the control on the vehicle. saw error message on the dash board saying 'lost traction and cancelling cruise control'. it was horrific experience.

Car stalled. and vents smell of gasoline, gear shift is loose. almost got in a car accident with my toddler and husband in car.

Driving on a highway, 65 mph, with acc cruise control on. suddenly it deactivated. warning light for acc/ road departure mitigation/ collision mitigation and brake system problems warning indicators came on. brake system warning was particularly stressful. i tried brakes and they seemed normal but acc definitely did not work. tried multiple times to turn off system and turn it back on to no avail. windshield was clean as was front sensor area. as i was on a highway i couldn't stop. an hour latter, while still on the road warning lights went off and all systems were available. dealer was unable to determine what had happened. now a month later same happened again and system recovered in about an hour while still driving. lane keeping assist system was still working while the other systems went out so the camera was still functioning. car seemed to function normally while these systems were out. as a former mechanic, police driving instructor and crash reconstructionist i know that this can not be caused by "low gas" or "gas in the oil". this is an electronics problem. i have also had the tire monitoring system malfunction three times.

On 3-11-19 at 6:14 pm i was driving with my wife on a parkway. weather was clear and sunny, 39 degrees. there were no cars in front of me. i had the cruise control set at 61 mph when suddenly my vehicle put the brakes on disengaged the cruise control and lane assist control . then a code flashed up saying 'auto high beam problem'. after a 15 minutes to reach my home i checked the high beams it was fine. in the last 4 weeks i have had code flash on the screen while i am driving saying system failure, for 5-10 minutes. *dt*jb *dt consumer stated this was the sixth time.*jb

Yesterday i got in my car to head home from work. when i turned it on, i got a number of systems alerts, including the engine, brakes, power steering and others. i was able to get the car home, but when i was going to take it the dealership, the car sputtered and seems to be losing power as if it would stall. this is the third time that i have gotten system alerts and taken the car to be repaired. the first time, the oil was changed and a software update performed. the second time, a software update was performed. this time, i checked the oil and it was over full and smelled of gas. the car is now at the dealership for them to determine the issue. i live in texas. the first time this happened, was during the summer. the last two times have been in winter.

My vehicle's warning lights are on for all features, including lane assist, stability, collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, tire pressure monitoring and many others. these features are currently not working. the first time the issue occurred was immediately upon starting the vehicle. i've taken it to two different dealers three times. the third time, i was told there was a problem with a fuel valve -- part of a honda "campaign," whatever that means -- and that replacing/repairing the issue could take up to 60 days. i was dismissed from the dealer and told that the issue would not make my car stop working, and that i would be contacted when a part arrived. meanwhile, my car is idling rough and i smell gas upon starting it.

While driving, safety systems go offline. adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, collision mitigation braking system, and others all go offline at the same time. appears to happen at random. first visit to dealer, we were advised they did not see any codes and there was no malfunction at that time. next visit, all the systems were still offline from earlier in the day and they performed some software updates which reset everything. next day, safety systems went offline again. we took the vehicle back to the dealer where it is right now and they are advising that it is a fuel issue and gasoline is getting into the oil . no explanation how or why this is causing the safety systems to go offline and become inoperable. have contacted honda multiple times along they way, currently waiting on a case manager to call back.

2017 honda crv parked in garage, when attempting to start engine, dash lights up warnings and sounds alarms on braking system, cruise control, lane assist system, battery, and many other areas. car would not start and goes dead with second attempt to start. dealership had car towed in to diagnose. dealership state that toll tag too close to sensors (even though tag has been on windshield for 18 months with no problem). toll tag scraped off windshield. six weeks later, car in garage and dash lights up with alarms and sounds with same alerts. car goes dead. dealership had car towed in to diagnose.

Braking system and other sensors have been coming on and off without cause. for example, brakes are engaged even when i am alone on the road and not braking. the cruise control will not engage at times and warning lights appear for no reason. in addition, blind spot monitor comes on when no cars are in vicinity. i had my software updated for recall but same issues. i just want to send complaint for others who may also have same issue with honda crv. when i complained before i was told it was likely weather related but recently this happen even when weather was great, no rain etc. as a side these so -called safety features need to work best in rain and other bad weather. error message go away when i park and turn off car. these malfunctions generally occur during highway driving.

While driving on the highway, the vehicle started to stall and shake. the instrument panel went black, then the audio screen went black. the gas gauge light came on, then turned off on its own. the instrument panel lights came on, all of the warning indicators were on. the dealership stated that the fuel injectors needed replacing and that it would be covered under warranty. they also stated that the whole audio system would need to be replaced but that the part is on back order and would not be able to order until march 1, 2019.

Amber caution annunciation for acc, cms, rwds and lkas with steady brake system amber indicator while driving on a two-lane highway at highway speeds. pulled onto shoulder of highway, shut off ignition and restarted, clearing the cautions.

My car came to a complete stop once while i was driving in the middle of an intersection and once just on a straight road. this happened twice, and i went flying forward and all my stuff on the seat went flying. there was not a car in front of me. they said it must have been reading something to do this, and it's to protect a possible pedestrian. this is an accident waiting to happen . i called honda of joliet to put it in my record. another issue is the vehicle stability lights, the adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, road departure mitigation, and a brake lights all flash stating there is a problem. these lights just come on while driving. this has happened three times . once it was snowing. the second and third time the weather was clear. the first time i cleared some of the 'driving aides' and the lights went off. i took it to honda of joliet on 1/25 and they aligned the radar. the lights came back on 1/28 /19 and they said they realigned it again. they had the car for 2 days. the original reason was the sensors are dirty, and in bad weather this can happen. they said a clump of snow could have caused this too. so this car is only good in good weather? the service person said they have had a lot of cars in for this same reason. another problem was i came out to find my windows down, my sunroof open and my back door open. car was stationary. didn't take it in for this and forgot to tell them when i dropped it off on 1/28/19.

Warning lights turn on every assistant system. everything disables making the car unsafe to drive.

Acc and lkas warning lights illuminated. took to dealership, they washed the car and said the problem was leaves blocking sensor. next time i started the car, got steady chime from dash telling me there was an acc problem. consistent issue. there were no accidents, damages and it was a clear, bright day in both cases.

Radio locks up and then indicator lights on dash flash - brake failure, vsa failure, tpms failure, ldw failure, acc failure, lkas failure, cmbs failure. had it at honda service two times and they reinstalled software and did a hard reboot. issue reared its head again dec 14, took to honda service with lights flashing for a computer read. service scheduled for dec 19 to look into issues and perform recall repair. check engine light has been on since i took it in dec 14. car seems to run fine even with indicator lights flashing. issue happened first time while on interstate going 70 mph. secong time on backroad going 45 mph.

The problem that we are experiencing on and off for more than 1 year while driving the car is warning lights all coming up and disabling the key safety features: brake system failure, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, and adaptive cruise control problem. this happen at normal city driving, freeway driving, with cruise control on and/or with cruise control off. the car is still operational but with warning lights. when you turn off the car, and restart the issues may or may not go away. when it does go away, it will randomly occur again. this problem happen when we had the car for 3 day old after buying it brand new and took it back to dealer and they look at it and did a software install. but, it never corrected the problem. we have live with this issues for more than a year now and are now fed up. we are frustrate of the thought of bringing it to the dealer and having the same thing happen to us again.

On 11/24/2018 on i-81 near staunton va. during heavy rain and holiday traffic at 70 mph in left lane passing tandem 18 wheeler on incline with 18 wheeler close behind car suddenly entered "limp" mode. car began missing badly with no power and began slowing to a drift. could not move right, pulled as far left to guard rail, right side car wheels still in passing lane, traffic swerved around the car. at aprox. 10 mph i had a slight break in traffic and was able swerve across traffic to right side. surprisingly the car idled fine. backed down right side 1/4 mile to exit, drove in "limp" mode to honda dealer. the dealer had found the car had enter limp mode because water had entered into the maf sensor and intake tube. the air box had not been properly sealed likely during a dealer service 1 week prior. the air filter was wet and replaced. intake tube and maf sensor pulled and dried. my issue in writing this is the car should not enter "limp" mode and cut power just because a sensor reports in bad. cars are designed to crumple to absorb impact and save the drivers but yet here "limp" mode is designed to save the equipment actually puts the occupants and in my case others on a crowded intestate highway at risk. a car should never be designed to put its passengers and those around them at risk as this crv did in my case. limp mode is a very very bad idea.

While driving down a country road at 55 mph with open fields on each side. the brake warning light came on, the audible warning signal sounded and the bakes slammed on hard. then went off. there was nothing on the road in front of us. the collision mitigation braking system failed. second time this has happened.

Vehicle was parked and would not start suddenly after being off and not on accessory mode. when vehicle was jump started and when vehicle restarted the dashboard read many errors among them, break system error, road departure mitigation system problem, vehicle stability assist problem. i have been the sole owner/driver of the vehicle and get it serviced at the dealership as advised.

Car has been in motion and stationary when all dash lights come on, no systems work according to the dashboard. when dash lights with every single warning light comes on while driving, all power and acceleration is lost. this happened to me in an intersection the other day and luckily the crv was able to coast to the side of the road where the crv was unable to accelerate again until i turned the car off and back on. i have read numerous blogs with others having this issue. vtm-4 pops up on the radio screen as a problem. honda claims to have fixed this issue on the 2019 models yet no recall on 2017 and 2018 models? this loss of power and control of the vehicle is especially scary since i have 2 young kids that right with me daily. cruise control won't work, remote start hasn't worked since this issue started around 60-70k miles. honda needs to fix this major problem!

I was driving home 20 mile per hour .. i put my left turn signal on cuz i was gonna turn left all he warring sign pop up and i push my car break and my car didn't stop and then i put gear on park and my car still moving ... and then i push power off and my car stop on the side road ... i so scare ... and i waiting about 2 minute and push power on and drive safe home ... (when i home i research on google and i found a lot of people have the same problem like me plz watch those video ' https://youtu.be/6amqzdqnmgm ' and ' https://youtu.be/jhtwxjxcota ' ) what if i happen like that in highwayor traffic ... i could die plz help i buy new car cuz i want to drive safe for very long time and now my vehicles is still new but not safe to drive ...

All system safety lights and warnings are showing

Vin: (xxxxx) vehicle mileage: 28,903 description: i am learning that the radar that controls the emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, collision mitigation etc. is only protected by a "pop off cover". i am deeply concerned over the lack of protection when it comes to such a critical component of my 2017 honda crv. i am being faced with a minimum $1,100 (part only) bill to repair damage to my cars radar sensor mounted in the front grill. i have had other problems with random "detection" computer messages on the dashboard and now for this piece of plastic to be popped off by a small piece of debris on the road that was kicked up from the road by a vehicle traveling in front of me is ridiculous. why would something so important be mounted dead front of the vehicle and not properly protected? i'm looking for a better option to have this resolved. i am practically a "life time" owner of honda products. and over the years i have increasingly become more and more unimpressed with what i fell in love with at the beginning of my honda journey. respectfully (xxxx) parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was driving at about 45mph, and had to stopped in median of road to turn right. all of a sudden my honda crv 2017 stopped and all dashboard lights started flashing, it started showing all the following problems. 1) brake system problem 2) brake hold system problem 3) airbag system (srs) problem 4) power steering system (eps) problem 5) anti-lock brake system problem 6) vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem 7) hill start assist problem 8) adaptive cruise control problem 9) collision mitigation system problem 10) road departure mitigation system problem 11) auto high-beam problem 12) tire pressure monitor problem 13) all wheel drive system problem 14) lane keeping assist cannot operate 15) seat belt warning on and beeping even though seat belt was being worn. i tried to turn off, and turn on, nothing happened. exited the vehicle, checked the car. no physical damage. tried to start 2-3 times more, still no luck. i called the roadside assistance, and towed the car to dealer. dealer kept the car for 4 hours, and called me that it was low gas issue, and charged me $88. i am sure it was not low gas, and even if it was low gas, car warning should tell its not starting due to low gas. it should not be that all 15 errors start showing on dashboard.

Was driving normally when abs, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency breaking, and breaking system "problem" lights lit up all at once. limped the car home.

All lights in dash are flashing cruze control does not work car has braked hard by itself for no reason i have had this car for 5 months and it has done this off on on computor has been reset twice alllights have been flashing for 4000 miles now why has there not been a recall

Driving highway suddenly car slows and dash reads that all systems- brakes, steering, and, etc failed. pulled car off road safety. shut car off.restarted. problem went away. checked on honda owners website. this is an ongoing problem with no fix. scary when all systems could be compromised

The vehicle does not heat up when idling which mean remote start to clear the ice from the windshield and warm the cabin does not work. honda told me it has to be driven to produce heat. they've replaced the thermostat and flushed the cooling system. i have to drive to work down a decline for 8 miles. after 4 miles the engine gauge begins to rise and then by the time i reach 8 miles (bottom of the hill) the engine temperature gauge bottoms out back down to the cold. the heat that may have started how ever feeble is now once again cold. any ice on the windows is still there because the whole car inside is still cold. if it wasn't for the heated seats i'd freeze to death. the service manager came to take my car one morning and saw this happen. he was told by honda the engine doesn't produce heat with out a load on it. this vehicle should never have been sold north of ohio. it is unsafe. i also have a strong gasoline smell in my oil that will soon be taken in for. also, the safety features all become inactive because of a little rain or snow. the honda dealer recalibrated them but it still happens. the lack of heat on idle is unacceptable though.

All lights flashing in the dash cruse control does not work going down the freeway the car has braked very quick without touching the brake the computor has been reset servel times and the problem comes right back this started in jan 2018 and is still doing this

On november 17, 2017 at 1105am on i70w approximately 3 miles west of the fruita colorado exit. driving on active cruise control at 78mhp in left lane no car ahead in left lane but passing old vw bus light in color crv suddenly braked from 78 to about 50 mph kicked cruise off, we did not get pass vw. luckily no one was behind us for we could have been hit . scared both of us! it was light overcast, car mileage 3681 approx.. on november 17,2017 at 1201pm on hwy 191s about 5 miles south of i70. driving on active cruise control 69 mph active cruise control problem, collision mitigation problem, may have been more. no cars in front of us or behind, a pickup truck in north bound lane approx. 175 ft was approaching us. car started braking, kicked off cruise control. i pulled over put car in park all lights cleared. overcast sky and 64 degrees. scared second time today. ar. miles on car 3753 approx plus 4 other previous times of car giving warning lights for system failures. these cars have a problem and dealer tecks say there is nothing in the computers saying there is any problems except camera dirty. we are getting afraid to drive this cr-v touring

Since purchasing my honda cr-v 1.5 turbo in 2017 i have experienced two episodes of my car stalling out while driving on nyc streets. on both of these occasions i narrowly avoided getting rear ended and being forced into the car in front of me, due to the fact that the car behind me swerved to avoid colliding into me. i have also experienced many failures of my honda sense system whereby my adaptive cruise control system failed, my road departure mitigation system failed, where my audio power went off, my auto high beam system had failures, which lead me to feel very uneasy driving my vehicle. at all times, my vehicle was in motion. i have experienced these system failures while driving on city streets as well as while driving on country roads and also while driving on highways! this was not a one time occurrence. these things have happened many times!

Vehicle has an issue with activating its collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) for no reason resulting in unnecessary slamming of the brakes. this has occurred at least five times over the last five months. it was first noted at around 12,000 miles and has happened at least 4 more times (we are now at 20,000 miles). in some instances, the vehicle was travelling at over 60 mph on the highway and slammed on its brakes on its own. there were no objects in front of the vehicle and we were following a straight lane. luckily, rear-ending accidents that could have resulted from this have been narrowly avoided. there was an instance in which the vehicle braked and an 18-wheeler behind it had to slam on its brakes and was swerving uncontrollably for at least 300 feet. a lemon claim has been filed, but honda is refusing to acknowledge the issue because it has yet to happen while their technicians drive it. please note that we have put 20,000 miles on this vehicle for it to happen 5 times (an average of once every 4,000). technicians are extremely unlikely to experience the issue while test driving the vehicle 10 miles. this issue jeopardizes the safety of all passengers of this vehicle. we truly hope honda sheds light on this issue to prevent unnecessary loss of life.

Multiple times while driving warning indicators on the instrument panel begin to flash (road departure mitigation system, lane keep assist system, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking system and brake system light). when this happens, these systems no longer function. this has happened at high and low speed with adaptive cruise control on and off, on highways and freeways. each time, i find a place to stop, turn the vehicle off, and back on again and the systems are fine. this has happened 5 times, the first being within 2 months of purchasing the vehicle new and the last being yesterday (2 1/2 years after purchasing the vehicle) i have taken it to the dealer several times, but they say they cannot replicate the issue and find no error codes so nothing can be done. documentation has been given to the dealer on each visit. this definitely seems to be a safety issue to me. i have had multiple other electronic issues as well which i will address in another complaint.

Without any reason the autobraking/collision system has engaged twice when no cars or animals on the road one time going 55mph and another time going approx. 40mpg. in addition the display screen (radio etc.) does not dim. it stays full brightness even with adjusting it. honda had to fix when vehicle was brand new after i had to fight with them that this is an issue. the screen blinds me at night because it is very bright so you can't really see the road. this stays bright stopped or moving. lastly, not a safety issue but auto high beams also had an error while driving.

Faulty honda sensing was driving at approx 35mph when crv slammed on it's on brakes by itself for the 2nd time thank god no one was behind us, high beams come on when close to on coming traffic blinding on coming traffic, blind spot indicator comes on when no one around, blind spot indicator doesn't come on, when cars in blind spot, didn't see car in my blind spot and cut car off because blind spot indicator wasn't working. burning wire smell inside cab. most of these problems have been happening since approx jan 2017 less than 1 month of owning car. i can't list just 1 day its happened because it's happened multiple times over and over. crv has been in shop 5-6 times for these problems with no luck of fixing them.
