Problems with 2017 Honda CR-V VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

On average, the 2017 Honda CR-V starts to “feel” problems with the VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL and its various aspects after 19 063 miles.

I have a 2017 honda crv. this is the second time i had the same issue. all my warning light electric parking brake problem, charging system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, electric parking brake problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (eps) problem, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, hill start assist problem. are back on. when this happens for the first time dealership tole me their was an update to the system which will fix the issue. month later i am having the same issue.

Cruise control, stopped working while on a(interstate) road trip. despite stopping and restarting the car. later i stopped at a gas station and it worked for a mile or so after restarting then stopped working again.

Collision avoidance system stopped car from 25 mph on straight level road with nothing in front of vehicle. occurred one time. amber brake warning light illuminated on a few occasions while riding on straight level road with nothing in front of vehicle. all these occurrences happened during good, dry weather. adaptive cruise control intermittently keeps speed at 1-2 mph below set speed on interstate with nothing in front of vehicle on straight level road in good weather. vehicle taken to dealer and was told the systems are normal. dealer also told me that these systems are connected and if one component fails, all will fail.

Driving on highway straight ahead, day time, good weather. failure warning lights for, cruise control lane departure, collision mitigation, braking system, pass seat air bag brakes, all came on. this is 6th time this has occurred. most lights reset after car was restarted pass seat air bag light only reset after another hour and another restart of vehicle

I was traveling at a slow speed and stopped to let a vehicle pass on a narrow side street and then pulled over to let another vehicle pass. when i pulled over the car accelerated and could not be stopped with the brakes. i was able to yank the car our of gear leaving the engine racing and then just as quickly it slowed to an idle.

I was driving my honda cr-v (2017 model ex awd) on a highway at 40 to 50 mph speed. it was raining at that time. i experienced big jerks couple of times and lost the control on the vehicle. saw error message on the dash board saying 'lost traction and cancelling cruise control'. it was horrific experience.

On multiple occasions, while the vehicle is in motion, the system has made an alert sound and the instrument panel has provided the following notifications: "break system" indicator is lit; collision mitigation system problem; road departure mitigation system problem; and today (3/28/2019) while the cruise control was engaged, it also displayed adaptive cruise control problem. it shuts down these systems and the car drives with a slight "drag" to its movement. the only way to correct this issue is to pull over, turn the car off, wait, and then restart. the system checks itself and resets. this is unpredictable, cannot be specifically initiated, and therefore is difficult to take for repair when there is no indication at the time of the vehicle being in need of repair. there is clearly something wrong with the software, the computer, or an electrical connection. i am the original owner, vehicle was purchased in october 2017.

While driving on the highway at 65mph the silver button on the gear shift spontaneously broke off the handle used to shift between park, neutral and drive. no one was touching the shifter at that time. this was a very distracting event -- i suddenly saw the broken button. trying to figure out what was "going on" distracted me from looking at the road, with the associated risk of loosing "situational awareness". i was fortunate in that i rapidly refocused on the road and no accident occurred. the person in the front-passenger seat figured out what had happened. i talked to 2 dealers and they indicated that they have seen this with several other crvs. based on my experience and the dealer feedback, this is not an isolated incident. this is a manufacturer defect that impacts multiple cars; the distraction created when it happens on the highway can result in someone getting into a potentially fatal accident if this defect is not proactively addressed. i reported it to honda america. they told me that they will report it to honda, but made no commitment to addressing it or getting back to me on their decision. a proactive recall and repair of the problem needs to happen before someone gets hurt.

Driving on a highway, 65 mph, with acc cruise control on. suddenly it deactivated. warning light for acc/ road departure mitigation/ collision mitigation and brake system problems warning indicators came on. brake system warning was particularly stressful. i tried brakes and they seemed normal but acc definitely did not work. tried multiple times to turn off system and turn it back on to no avail. windshield was clean as was front sensor area. as i was on a highway i couldn't stop. an hour latter, while still on the road warning lights went off and all systems were available. dealer was unable to determine what had happened. now a month later same happened again and system recovered in about an hour while still driving. lane keeping assist system was still working while the other systems went out so the camera was still functioning. car seemed to function normally while these systems were out. as a former mechanic, police driving instructor and crash reconstructionist i know that this can not be caused by "low gas" or "gas in the oil". this is an electronics problem. i have also had the tire monitoring system malfunction three times.

The honda sensing that control the automatic braking is defective. the vehicle does automatic braking without any obstacles in view.the first incident vehicle traveling at 70 mph on the freeway and vehicle applied the brakes almost causing multi car collisions. the second incident at 40 mph. dealer refused to fix. urgent attention needed. class action lawsuits pending across the states.

Amber caution annunciation for acc, cms, rwds and lkas with steady brake system amber indicator while driving on a two-lane highway at highway speeds. pulled onto shoulder of highway, shut off ignition and restarted, clearing the cautions.

During normal shifting of the automatic transmission lever, the push button release on the shifting knob broke in two. the unit was under slight spring tension and popped out after splitting in two. the car was stuck in drive and i was unable to control the transmission. this happened while the vehicle was parked. upon a quick internet search and after discussions with a factor maintenance representative, it appears this has been a common problem.

While driving vehicle in the city, check engine light flashes on and off. vehicle loses power and will not accelerate, creating serious safety issue. dealer confirmed engine oil dipstick had unusally strong smell of gasoline. vehcile has been serviced once by honda dealer. i was assured that all necessary fixes were made. same issue happened again. returned vehicle to honda dealer for additional service.

Acc and lkas warning lights illuminated. took to dealership, they washed the car and said the problem was leaves blocking sensor. next time i started the car, got steady chime from dash telling me there was an acc problem. consistent issue. there were no accidents, damages and it was a clear, bright day in both cases.

A situation in which the dashboard lights show multiple system failures including failures of the rdm, cruise control, brakes and cmbs. this has happened twice, including a second time immediately after the dealer "fixed" the problem. the car has beed stopped but idling in both situation. i drove immediately to the dealership the first time and did not even leave the dealership the second time. an indication of a "brake system failure" is disconcerting even though there seems to be no affect on vehicle performance, other than these safety features being rendered inoperable.

I was driving north on hwy 86 from the city of imperial ca. when i set my cruise control at 65 mph suddenly start going up and down with the speed ( going up to 67 and down to 64) with no vehicles in front of me. i arrive to my house and after hearing problems with the stalling on the cr-v models , my husband check the oil and it smell a lot to gasoline.

I bought my cr-v in feb 2017. since 6th oct 2018 i have begun to notice hesitancy problems with acceleration after coming to a complete stop and in some cases the engine has also stalled. car was not in econ mode, being driven on 'd' mode on a city street. faced similar issue on a highway while in traffic. today (15th oct) it happened thrice back to back in a 20 minute drive on a city street.

Honda sensing issue - when driving in normal conditions, the vehicle would apply brake by itself as if a frontal collision is expected even if there were no other vehicle in-front.

I have had the honda since nov 2017 & have had 2 shutter release problems-loss of power‼️‼️ it reduced 15 miles an hour going up a hill & kept reducing power.. i could have been on a two way road & gotten into head on‼️‼️ took it to dch honda temecula, ca & they said there is no fix & wanted me to go on my merry way‼️‼️ called their corp. office, opened a case it but the case person would not talk to me or call me back‼️‼️ i have an arbitration case now set up with ncds & honda.. honda is not under the ca lenon law but with ncds (national center for dispute settlement). the honda person assigned to arbitration case called me & told me i don't have a case as i only took it in 1 time. but, i called dch-honda temecula, ca to set up appt to get this fixed & they wouldn't call me back for appt.- as the can't fix it‼️‼️ this car is going to cause a death & honda could care less, i just don't want to be that death statistic‼️‼️ the us does not need a company that doesn't stand up & acknowledge their faulty products & fix them‼️‼️😠 now "high beam problem" is coming up on dash‼️‼️ it's the lexus gas petal issue - & that ended up causing 3 deaths‼️‼️

Driving highway 15 east toward las vegas, nv. light on instrument cluster "shutter grille problem - power reduced". very dangerous condition as the engine power was reduced to 50 mph on the highway, i was unable to pass an 18 wheeler truck due to reduced engine power. stopped at nearby honda dealer, service dept. was closed, new car manager said "i have no idea what this code means" after sitting for 15 minutes code reset itself only to come back on after another 10 minutes of driving. temperature was 103 degrees outside.went to honda dealership in las vegas to be told again "have never seen this code before". no resolution - very dangerous condtion to loose 50% of engine power on the freeway.

For the third time, since buying the car new, all the warning lights came on, and all safety systems shut down. this time power steering was also lost which could've caused a crash. i believe this is due to rodent damage again. honda sells rodent tape and i've used it but can't tell where the rodents will eat. i belive this is due to the soy-based insulation and other parts in the car as none of my other vehicles have ever had this issue and i live in a rural environment. vehicle was not being driven'was temporarily parked outside when this happened.

Honda sensing activated and slammed on the brakes during regular suburban driving without anything to prompt it. i was driving about 40 miles an hour down a local road without having a car in front of me. the vehicle slammed on the brakes and sent a warning as if something was impeding the front pathway while moving. there were not any cars in front and the car slammed on the brakes causing my belt to lock unexpectedly and vehicle to slow down dramatically leading to me almost being rear ended.

While approaching and crossing over a railroad crossing at approximately 30mph on a city street, the word brake flashed a couple times and my car completely stopped, so hard as if i slammed my brakes on and my purse flew off the front passenger seat and i was jolted forward, my seatbelt tightened. the same thing has happened one time since then. i'm not sure if this is a braking problem or front camera sensory problem but it was very confusing and scary.

All lights in dash are flashing cruze control does not work car has braked hard by itself for no reason i have had this car for 5 months and it has done this off on on computor has been reset twice alllights have been flashing for 4000 miles now why has there not been a recall

Traveling on interstate at the speed limit the car suddenly braked. all safety systems were activated at this time. fortunately there was no traffic in front, behind or beside. i got the car under control , turned all systems off and proceeded. messages on dash indicated four systems were inoperatable. when i got home i called honda to report. they suggested i take the car to my dealer. i did so the following day. (this happened on a weekend) they indicated there was a "bulletin" out on this problem. they downloaded new software to correct the problem. now my concern. bulletins are only acted upon when an owner complains. the issue i outlined above warrants surely qualifies for more than a bulletin. at the same time.at the dealer i learned of another problem...a recall for a gas line issue. someone needs to inform the owners of this vehicle when a recall is made. i was not informed. i accidentally found out about it.at the dealer , consumer gives permission to discuss this matter with the honda corp *va *js

For a second time we have taken the vehicle to the service department after having problems with it not having power to go past 2 rpms and pulling as if it has a problem with the fuel line. after having vehicle towed the first instanceon10/17/2017 they checked it and could find no evidence of anything gone wrong, the car was only 2 weeks old. this second incident comes 1 month later and now the brake system light came on and even though the gear shifter was in the correct position there were two letters on top of one another and blinking. we could only drive it up to 30 miles an hour without it pulling. there were no problems breaking.11/21/2017

Driving down any road with tar strips sometimes causes the vehicle to give a warning (wheel shake) of lane departure. this is easily overridden by the driver, but is very irritating. it must think the tar strips are lane markers! when the cruise control (adaptive cruise control) is engaged, the acc can sometimes jam on the brakes with no obstacle in the path. it happens when cars ahead are pulling off to the left or right but are clearly out of the lane of travel. this happened on a two lane undivided suburban road. i have had two near misses with following cars having to brake, and two other times with no cars following. one event happened on a curve of a two lane divided road with a car completely in the left hand turn lane ahead with my vehicle in the lane of travel. acc jammed my brakes on causing me to have to hit the brake pedal and then accelerator to avoid cars behind. there is no defeat for the acc function so just regular cruise control can be used. this cruise control is not ready for prime time! honda just says their is nothing wrong with it and the software is up to date. it is so scary i'm considering trading this vehicle for one that won't get me into an accident. the subaru eyesight system is remarkably better than this disaster.

I drove down the highway 65 miles per hour when suddenly the car computer got stuck and then started again giving different errors. deactivated brake system, frame missing gasoline, frame road stabilization system deactivated and finally speed control frame speed a fault.
