Problems with 2015 Honda CR-V POWER TRAIN

On average, the 2015 Honda CR-V starts to “feel” problems with the POWER TRAIN and its various aspects after 8 453 miles.

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2015 Honda CR-V

Excessive vibration while vehicle is in drive mode and is at a stop using the foot brakes. placing vehicle in neutral lessens the vibration. it is noticed during regular driving when stopped at a stop light or stop sign. the problem is constant and has been occurring since vehicle was purchased new in september of 2015. *tr

This only happened once. going down short moderate hill on highway and all of a sudden the vehicle seemed to drop into a lower gear; as if, it had a standard transmission (has automatic). then seemed to be in limbo for very short time, resumed as normal and have not had another incident. very strange for a new vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the while stopped, the vehicle vibrated excessively without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rpms needed to be adjusted however, the failure was unable to be repaired due to epa regulations. the contact mentioned that the technician updated unknown software but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 2,278.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 honda cr-v. while at a stop, the vehicle began to vibrate. in addition, the steering wheel and seats vibrated. while driving 20 mph, the vehicle vibrated. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle and stated that it was a characteristic of the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 200.

The cr-v vibrates when stationary in park position and when you drive. it really shakes as you drive in the city stopping at stop signs or lights while in drive. it feels like engine could stop. it has a slight hesitation upon accelerating. this is with the a/c off. the a/c disguises the vibration when on mostly.

I have previously complained about the vibration at idle, engine shudders on acceleration, and lack of acceleration on a highway merge on this site, the dealership, and to honda, to no avail. this past weekend, the serpentine belt broke while i was 3 hours away from home. this renders the car unable to drive, and it had to be towed. we experienced strong vibrations in stop and go traffic before i smelled burnt rubber and pulled into a parking lot. could there be a connection to the vibration, or is this another defect in this vehicle? as i read the posts, it is apparent that honda is not disclosing the known vibrations to the public. this is at the least unethical. does a fatality have to occur before something will be done?

When moving and accelerating there is a loud noise that comes from underneath the vehicle appearing to come from the transmission area. this happens with different drivers on paved interstates as will as county 2 lane roads. you can be turning or going straight but this noise is only when the car is moving.

When accelerating from a stop into a right or left turn and let up on the accelerator, then try to accelerate after making the turn, i experience a total loss of power. if i let up on the accelerator, and then press on the accelerator again the vehicle will accelerate normally. if instead when the vehicle loses power, and i continue to hold the accelerator pressed down the vehicle stays in a lost state of power until i take my foot off the accelerator and then press down again. this event happens 2 to 3 times per month since the car was delivered to me by the dealer. this is dangerous, especially if i am making a left turn or trying to accelerate onto an interstate highway 's on ramp. when reported to the dealer, i was told that this was normal for this car.

Vibration felt at 20-25 mph and at higher speeds through the steering wheel and by sound with the vibration becoming stronger as the mileage increases. discussions with the honda dealership concerning a refund have not been fruitful. i am concerned that the problem may result in a crash; but honda is very slow to resolve the issue.

While driving our 2015 crv a day after our initial purchase it began to shake violently at idle. so bad that in stop and go traffic it can cause the driver and passengers to start to feel sick. honda has acknowledged the issue but says that it isn't a safety concern and it is a characteristic of the vehicle. additionally the car vibrates and feels as if might die when slowing down at a stop light. the same thing that a manual might do if left in gear when slowing to a stop. additionally the same thing can occur when initially accelerating. i feel that these are safety issues because they are distracting to the driver and the crv could eventually start stalling out in the middle of an intersection.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 honda cr-v. while driving approximately 55 to 60 mph, the rpms surged and there was a disconnect with the transmission that caused the front wheels to seize. the failure recurred. the dealer and manufacturer were notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

I have a very known problem for this model year - very disturbing vibration in the cabin, when the engine is running in the 800-1800 rpm range, which is a very typical range in every day driving. basically the problem is present during most of the city driving. during the drive - this vibration quickly escalates from being very annoying - to disturbing and eventually it causes headache and minor nausea, which definitely affects my driving ability!! now, i bought this vehicle brand new, and owned it for almost 2 years. since the problem appeared almost right away - i've been taking the car to the dealership four times because of this issue. eventually the dealership performed all the official "fixes" to this problem: 1) new radiator cushions, transmission mounts, and front head restraints. 2) update of the 'pcm software' now, after the first series of fixes, the vibration got a little bit lower (though it still remained).. the dealer told us that these are the only available fixes and there is nothing else that they can do. well, what could we do? we accepted it as is.. as something we will have to try to live with. however!!! that was not all!! later that year, we got a official letter from the dealership with a request to bring the car in for some kind of software update, which we did. and after that "upgrade" the vibration got much worst then even before! of course i brought the car back to the dealership and complained about vibration. they checked the car and claimed that at this point the vibration is the same level as on the rest of same model cars, and that there is nothing they can do anymore and that i just have to accept it! me and my wife cannot drive it for any prolonged periods of time because the vibration is very disturbing and gives headache. *tr

2015 honda cr-v: unusual vibration at stop with gear shift in drive mode and loud mum sound when driving between 15 to 25 mph similar to all other complaints on this 2015 model.

Since day one there has been a strong vibration at idle. the engine will be at 650-700 rpms and then drops to 500. it shakes uncontrollably when the rpms drop at a light or while idling. i've taken it in 3 times with no repair success.

My car has a serious vibration issues when it idles or is revving up to 40-50mph. it is incredible distracting and only has been getting worse since i bought the car. i am very concerned that this issue will continue to grow and outside of it being very annoying it has been distracting me and causing even the passenger in the front seat to ask "what is that? it can't be normal". i hope this agency along with honda usa will work hard to find a solution as i do not believe it is safe to drive as is.

Very strong vibration at idle. very annoying and can cause harm to my body and it really makes me regret buying the car each time i stop at a stop signal or at a red light. i have filed a complaint with both the dealer and honda to take back my costly brand new crv 2015 touring for a full refund. i haven't heard back from them yet.

Getting vibration from transmission/power train. very noticeable between 20 mph and 40 mph. can feel the vibration i the steering wheel. and also in the seats.

Shortly after purchasing i noticed a engine vibration when stopped or idling. called dealer to complain and they said they were aware of the issue and that honda was working on it. i would not ave bought the car if i would have noticed it sooner. totally unacceptable. this is very annoying and distracting.

Strong engine vibrations: purchased vehicle may 2015 and after i drove the vehicle a few days a strong vibration was felt from the engine while stopped and in drive. vibration is also felt while in park. honda has acknowledge the defect on web site but refuses to alert the customers via wide alert. honda issued a bulletin for a three mode "fix" that did not fix the problem. two different honda dealers have tried the procures provided in the bulletin with no avail. i repeatedly take it back to the honda dealer but now they will not open a service ticket stating " we've done all we can do" had i known of this problem i would have not purchased. what am i to do now with this vehicle that i can't even trade in because other dealers know about this issue with the 2015 honda crv.

My 2015 crv has a consistent shudder and vibration that can be felt through the steering wheel and seat while driving. it is most noticeable at 1000 rpm's and 2000 rpm's. this vibration is very distracting and causes fatigue during longer trips. also severe vibrations at the idle, around 600 rpm's when stopped at stop lights or in traffic. the vibration makes the car extremely uncomfortable to drive for the driver as well as the passenger.

2015 honda cr-v vibrates at idle while in gear just like everybody else's. i have also noticed extremely loud engine noise for a new car while at idle in gear or in park as well. noise and vibration begun at about 141 miles.

Vibration: in december of 2014, we purchased a brand new honda crv 2015 model from tom wood honda in anderson, indiana. shortly after purchasing the vehicle, (at around 5,000 miles driven on the vehicle), we noticed that; the vehicle vibrated when stopped (say at a stop light) when the car was in 'drive'. the vibration was not detected when the vehicle was stopped and in 'park'. the vibration at this time was slight and only a little disturbing. the vehicle was taken to penske honda (on the north side of indianapolis) at around 28,000 miles or so, where a '16-053 crv update' was applied. the vibration problem was made much worse, not better. immediately after driving the car off of penske's lot, it vibrated so badly that it was extremely disturbing. follow a few frustrating conversations with penske honda about this problem, the vehicle was taken to fisher's honda. fisher's honda performed update 15-046 for vibration at idle, which ameliorated the problem, however, the vehicle still vibrates quite noticeably when engaged in drive and stopped at a stop light for example. the idle speed drops to around 550 rpm when stopped and in drive. the entire car shakes. the steering wheel vibrates in the driver's hands. in my opinion, no one would buy a new or even used car with this problem. i certainly wouldn't. we took the 2015 honda crv to tom wood honda. one of their top technicians drove the car with us in it. he acknowledged the problem, but stated that there was nothing more he could do to fix the problem than what had already been done, and that the problem had something to do with the engine and drive train pairing. since that time, the vibration phenomenon when the car is stopped and engaged in drive has worsened. in addition, the car vibrates when driving the car at 35 to 45 miles per hour and the rpms are around 1,100 rpm or so. *tr

About 1-2x per month, after car sits for several hours (and power train is cold), vehicle will shudder when first starting out in reverse or drive. this usually occurs when in reverse and riding brake after starting the vehicle. rpm does drop to about 500 rpm for about a second, making vehicle feel as if it will stall (similar to not giving enough gas with a manual transmission). engine will then rev slightly above initial idle before returning to normal. throttle response also diminishes for a few seconds afterward. dealer found no trouble codes and associated symptoms with idle vibration issue. however, frequency of idle vibration is much more regular with those who have it. car has not stalled yet but always think it might. my dad has an identical vehicle and has had same shuddering issue, though with much less frequency.

Shake out of the seat vibration when stopped in drive and all accessories and lights off. transmission vibration at takeoff up to 30 mph, or 1,500rpm. the issue is constant, and honda dealer states it is a known problem.

While in low idle (less than 750 rpm) vehicle shudders while in drive or "s" gear. shudder decreases if car is shifted to neutral, or if brake continues to be applied and a bit more rpms are introduced by tapping the accelerator. happens in either regular drive or eco mode. doesn't happen all the time, but is annoying when it happens.

Cvt transmission is causing vibrations at idle. no support from honda has been made to fix this.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 honda cr-v. while driving 25 mph, the vehicle vibrated severely. the failure occurred constantly. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not determined. the contact mentioned that the vehicle's software was updated, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 150.

I bought a brand new with 6 miles on the vehicle and after a week took it back to the dealer to find out what's causing that vibrating / shaking feeling when the car is in idle or at a red light , car shakes a lot and can really focus on the steering wheel , dealer told me that they are aware of the problem and suppose my sales person that been working there for 15 years don't know nothing about this problem and the service man said that honda is working on a software , this is a $30k car i asked for exchanged they said they are not allowed to do such a thing like this ,, my question is when honda is going to come up with something that could fix this issue ,, i am scared to drive this vehicle on vacation because it feels that engine or transmission is going to break a part we need an answer we need something to be done about this not just we are aware of it and that's it ,, that don't help these days. *tr

Engine rpm drops at idle in drive creating very strong vibration. honda is aware of problem but does not have a fix yet. this car is brand new. *tr

Took delivery of 2015 crv exl on 04-09-15. found pronounced drive train shudder while operating vehicle at speeds from idle to 30mph at 1000-1250 rpm. returned veh. to lia honda in northampton mass. where technician was able to duplicate and document complaint. service writer states that honda is aware of issue but has no fix. my 2011 crv ran smooth as glass. honda has been the benchmark for quality vehicles but has really dropped the ball on the 2015 crv. if a machine shudders or vibrates when in operation there is an indication that it was mis-designed, something is broken or will break in the near future. real shame that honda released this vehicle with this known problem. will certainly become a safety issue if something comes apart in the powertrain while the vehicle is at speed. *tr

There is an issue with the 2015 honda cr-v where the car vibrates and rattles significantly when idling in drive with brake depressed. the rpm seems to drop down to 600 and the engine starts making noise and vibrating. at the present time it is only an inconvenience and irritating but i feel that if this continues them we may be looking at premature wear and tear of parts just due to the excess vibrations. consumers may be in for huge spends to replace parts that were worn out over the years due to excessive vibrations in the car. *tr

With gear in drive, car noticeably vibrates/stutters while stopped. vibration is visible when looking at the passenger side seat when empty. rpm ranges from 500-600. vibration dissipates when vehicle is moving. *tr

When at a stop and in idle the car vibrates as if there is not enough rpm's to keep it running properly. also vibrates when driving slowly or at a lower rpm. waiting for a recall as honda has admitted that there is something wrong with the car due to the transmission and engine combination.

I have bought 2015 honda cr v on 29th march 2015. i have feel vibration and shudder in driver as well as passenger seat while idling at traffic light or speeding from 20 miles to 50 miles. it is very annoying and distracting while driving. it can be safety concern while driving also. *tr

Vibrations felt thru steering column, pedals and floor in the rpm range 1,000-1,500. happens during all normal driving speeds, very annoying and have requested a full refund. honda should not be able to sell without fully disclosing this defect. i would like to join a class action suit if not fully refunded. *tr

Power train started to do unnecessary a pushing and pulling. this could be several things or a combination of throttle sensor (drive by wire throttle), g-force sensor, software cvt auto-calibration that never got turned off and software cvt auto-calibration buffer overrun every 4400000 meters. these are all potential safety issues by inducing more dynamic tensions outside the designed intentions where the power train parts will fail and creating a loss of power train and inducing a crash during normal driving conditions. these are all design and manufacturing issues covered under warranty; however, honda refuses to be responsible for these.

I bought honda 2015 crv-lx at mar 23 2015, and i noticed a terrible vibration when i drove to home after the car is warm and stop at stop-sigh in d gear. you can see the vibration in open windows, seats, etc and anything in the car. i went back to the dealership at mar 24 and the service guy drove another new crv to compare with mine and also got the totally same problem and then he said it is manufacturer problem so that they can't fix it. and then went back to ask the sales, sales said all crv has such problem and this purchase was done already so they can't do anything for me even this is a really super annoying problem for me and all the crv's owner. *tr

A strong vibration when vehicle is stopped and in drive. the vibration rattles the whole car- you can see the vibration in open windows, the passenger seat, the gear shift. uncomfortable drive and lack of confidence in the safety of my vehicle. scared to drive my car on long distances. first honda- probably last. *tr

Severe distracting vibration of power train, when idling at stoplight, in drive, with foot on brake. also vibrates at low speed, under power, in the 1000-2000 rpm range. very annoying and distracting in traffic. the power train sometimes even shudders as though going over a rumble strip, particularly when under load, transitioning through the 2000 rpm range. not sure if it is engine, or transmission, or both. makes me fell very insecure while driving. will probably have to get rid of vehicle. the consumer stated the vehicle had a vibration that could be felt in the floor pan, seat, gs pedal, and in the steering column. the vibration made the vehicle very fatiguing to drive. the consumer was advised to put the vehicle into neutral at stops and to drive in "s" gear when driving under 40mph. updated 05/11/2017 *js

My honda crv 2015 lx model vibrates at stop, all signal lights and bumper to bumper traffic, its really distracting the drive and driver. filed a complaint with america honda, but no use. they don't have fix right now.

My honda cr-v vibrates at idle while in gear at approximately 500-600 rpms. it also vibrates while accelerating at all speeds under approximately 2100-2200 rpms. this can't be good for the longevity of the engine and is distracting, hence a safety concern. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 honda cr-v. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, when the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle shook and vibrated abnormally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but they were not able to provide a permanent remedy for the condition. the dealer test drove the vehicle and indicated that the failure was associated with the newly designed engine and transmission/power train. the contact stated that the condition continued to progress with no solution to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer provided no permanent remedy. the failure mileage was 800. sj

when the car is in "drive" and while sitting still at a light or with the foot on the brake, the engine idle speed drops down and the entire car vibrates. honda says that this is simply a characteristic of the car and has so far not offered any type of repair or remedy. many of the other owners have posted the same vibration problem at several websites including the honda owners blog sites. please investigate to see if some remedy can be found and the issue can be resolved. i am concerned that the low idle speed while standing still will only worsen and become a safety hazard as the car ages. thank you for your help. *tr

There is a pronounced vibration when the car is stopped and also when the rpm are at 1200 . it makes steering the car difficult and the ride feel unstable. the steering wheels shakes violently. also when you shift the car or put in park the vehicle continues to roll slightly or does not react quickly to the changing of the gear. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 honda cr-v. while idling, the vehicle vibrated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 3,000. the vin was not available.

When car is first started it drives fine but once the engine reaches operating temperature at about 15mph to 30mph there is a vibration felt in the steering wheel. if i let off the accelerator pedal the vibration stops or when the transmission shifts into the next gear the vibration stops. problem only seems to be at low speeds as car seems to drive good with no vibrations from 30 mph to 65 mph. honda dealer salesperson told me that it was a characteristic of the new cvt transmission. i called honda usa and they said there was no known problems with the transmission and told me to take the car to the dealer for a check. the dealer after checking the car told me that there was a problem with the car. this was on march 23, 2015. on march 24, 2015 i received a call from the honda district representative stating that there is a problem with these new transmissions and that honda is trying to find a fix but they don't know how long its going to take to figure what the fix is going to be. today march 25, 2015 i received a call from honda usa customer service saying that the symptoms that i'm experiencing in the car are a characteristic of the car. i informed her that i spoke to the dealer rep and he told me there is a problem in the transmission and she said she wasn't informed about it. i can't believe that i paid $26,000 for a car that vibrates at low speeds, that my wife won't drive because she doesn't feel safe in it, and honda usa is telling me its normal for the car to do this. talk about being fed a line of bull. now lets see what if anything the government is going to do because there is a problem in these vehicles. *tr

A few days after purchasing the vehicle i began to notice a vibration on the front end, mostly at highway speeds and most severe at 60-70 mph range. i took the vehicle in for service 3 times in march. the first time they balanced all the tires, the second time they put two new tires in the front. i drove it on a trip (about 600 miles total) and it was extremely irritating the whole time i was on the highway. the third visit to the dealer and i drove it with the service manager and was told it was normal. we then drove another new 2015 crv and it drove the same way. his best suggestion was to invest in michelins to reduce the road noise. he called back about a week later to let me know there were "some known issues" and he let me know it they found a fix. i then searched nhtsa only to discover similar problems listed , so here i am, posting my complaint to add to the list. honda has also posted to announce they'll be recalling certain vehicles to replace the engine block but yet to receive a letter at this point for mine. i also experience the vibration at idling, which is also annoying, but it was noted on consumer reports when i researched before buying the car so there ya go. at this point the main fix needs to be the vibration at driving speed, and i they need to address the idling issue too. i should mention the service manager has kept in contact with me and said he is determined to remedy the situation. *tr

Purchased the 2015 crv in february 2015. approximately a week after making the purchase, the vehicle began extensively vibrating while stopped at a stop light or stop sign, with the vehicle engaged in the drive position and the brake pedal was pressed. i immediately noticed that the rpm's dropped below 600. the vibration is felt in both the drivers and passengers seats, but moreso in the drivers seat. it feels as though the vehicle is going to stall out. i do not feel safe driving this vehicle as i have the constant fear that it is going to stall out at any given time. i have taken it in to the dealership service center on four occasions, but they state they cannot reproduce the problem so they have been of no help. this is a known problem by honda, but it appears as though they are merely brushing it off in hopes that the complaints will stop.

Car has significant vibrations when rpms are in low end of range. i brought in for them to look with 1169 miles on odometer on march 18 and was told it is "consistent" with other crvs. i stated that vibrations were in the range of 1500-2000 rpms. as of april 14, issue has gotten worse, with vibrations ranging from 600-2500. i now feel slippage during acceleration. very unnerving. i worry the vibrations will continue to get worse. *tr
