2009 honda accord. consumer states a problem with the abs and squealing fan belt *tgw the consumer stated he encountered a vehicle attempting to cross two lanes of traffic abruptly and without warning. he narrowly avoided a collision, but in the process his vehicle went in a right hand skid with the tires screeching. it became apparent that the anti-lock brakes did not function, no pulsating occurred as he had experienced in previously owned vehicles. the dealer stated the belt was squealing due to it getting wet from the rain. *jb
Brakes are extremely sensitive. applying the brakes while driving at slow speeds can often give the feeling that the occupants may hit the windshield...even though wearing seatbelts. honda service tech's have acknowledged that they are that way but maintain "that is just the way they are" and "you're just going to have to get used to it." i've owned this car almost 2 years and it is the only one i ever drive...and i am not able to brake this car smoothly. when i offer to let others drive my car they comment on the touchy brakes and have mentioned that it is a safety hazard. based on comments by honda service tech's and other drivers, i feel that honda is well aware of this poor brake design but refuse to do anything about it. *tr
1) the vehicle shakes at high speed. 2) the vehicle at slow speed sounds like the wheel bearings are grinding themselves down 3) the vehicle vibrates at slow and high speed but more so at high speed when pressing the brake peddle 4) the vehicle was brought to the dealership 3 times for these problems with the drive train and the brakes. still after the third time of having new brakes and wheel bearing the vehicle continues to vibrate to such a manner as i feel it highly unsafe. *tr
I went to honda dealership for routine maintenance on car. the mechanic came out and told me my rear brakes were nearly worn out and needed to be replaced. the car had 20,959 actual miles on these brakes. i had them replaced at my expense even though i felt this was highly unusual. now my front rotors are giving me problems at 23,000 miles. the car jerks when the brakes are applied at highway speeds. i called honda.....was told they hadn't had any problems or complaints, but i see same problem posted on this site. *tr
Brakes fail in reverse above 6000 ft when car is cold. dealer said this is a known issue by honda and say it cannot be repaired without updating car's software which honda refuses to do. dealer has had multiple complaints about brake failure at altitude when cold. honda states that the car is working as designed regardless of the fact that the brakes completely fail. fails every day since we have moved. car narrowly missed pedestrian due to brake failure. *jb
Ever since i bought my 2007 accord, the brakes clunk periodically. this usually happens when i first start it up and drive but it can happen anytime. brakes really squeak too. *tr
Tl*- the contact stated that while driving the 2002 honda accord at 30 mph and slowing down to 20 mph to make a right turn the steering wheel locked. the contact tried to step on the brakes, but the pedal would not move, the vehicle lost power. the dashboard warning lights turned on. the contact turned the key to the off position then restated the vehicle, but the vehicle drove like it had not failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealership, but the problem could not be duplicated. *ak the enging shut down while driving. updated 03/15/07. *jb
