We have classified the 5 complaints from 2014 Honda Accord about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
Paint began peeling around the back window. all around it, in the lip around the window. in normal daily use.
Body: the tension bar does not open the car trunk lid all the way which more often drops down and hit the person's head or face who is putting stuffs in the trunk assuming it is fully open all the way. i did got hit twice by the corner and edge of the trunk lid on the forehead and left temple. the latter caused bruise and pain that took me a week to recover. should change weak tension bar to strong gas tube operation. engine: the car vibrates and rattles upon putting on reverse gear even after at least a minute warmup in the morning. the dealer said it is normal for this type of car? this is very embarrassing for a newer car. i never see this in a toyota cars that i owned: sienna, avalon... seats: driver seat is not well designed and causing awkward and uncomfortable and fatigue position while driving. there is insufficiency of support for lumbar are ( the current one is too soft and sitting back so there is virtually no support at all). again toyota cars seem not having this kind of problem. also, the driver window is not tall enough that even a 5'6" person can bang his head to the top of the window when getting up and out of the drive seat. it should be 2" taller to avoid this problem. they should put cushion to the top edge and safety grip handle at the minimum. driving condition: the car seems to wander when running on freeway at normal speed.
Vehicle was stationary: the actuator for the driver door lock/unlock stop working intermittently.i took the car to the dealer and the replaced it under the warranty, i mentioned to them this is a brand new car and already have issues with this!!! well i have the same situation but this time is in the rear door on the driver side so i took to the dealer this time they told me we can not replaced it since the warranty is due you have to pay for the repair, i mentioned to them seems that something is wrong with the door lock mechanism due to this is the 2nd time the car is having the same issue but this time on different door. apparently the locking mechanism has a flaws design or manufacturing defect that honda does not wants to accept.
We have had our2014hondaaccordfor just one year. all of our family members have been hit in the head and back by the trunk door. the trunk does not stay open on even a modest grade, but does not fall down for several seconds, close down suddenly with a light wind not allowing people to lean into the trunk before it hits them. injury to death could happen anytimes from the trunk lid lock. i have owned 10 cars and have never had one where the trunk lid will not remain up.
Trunk lid falls suddenly even on slight grades and sometimes on level areas. dealer has checked this and says the torsion bars are working according to specs. sooner or later this will cause an injury. wife and i have been hit on head by this lid numerous times already.
I was pulling in to a parking spot at 2 mph or less, and when i put my foot on the brake to stop, the engine surged and the car lurched forward out of my control, across the concrete barrier, over a walkway and into the wall of a restaurant, where it stalled. i had to restart the car to reverse it away from the crash. fortunately no-one was hurt although there was considerable damage to the front of the car and the wall of the restaurant. this also happened in march 2014. i was pulling into a parking spot when the engine roared, the car lurched forward, and i crashed across a path and through a wooden fence. the damage then was $10k. the car was taken to the dealership's collision center, which reported only that "no defects in materials or factory workmanship were found." there are at least 11 other reports of this problem from other people in this string, and it is clearly a very dangerous fault in the 2014 honda accord which needs to be investigated. there should be a recall before someone is seriously hurt or killed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that the rear passenger side power lock failed to unlock the door. as a result, the door had to be unlocked manually. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear passenger side door power actuator failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred with the front passenger side and the rear driver side doors. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 45,366.
One cold morning of about 30-32 degrees, the back left passenger door would not open from the outside (or inside) when the handle was pulled. it was as if child lock was on. from that point on, no matter what temp, the door won't open properly in case of an emergency. the only way to get it to open is to push the door in then pulling the handle. if on the inside, you have to pull the door in by the hole you grasp the door the pull the handle. it is not safe. it happened at 37,000 miles. car was bought new and is on lease still with one more year till i can finance it. i have no kids and have guest the sit in the back periodically. i can see no fault on my end for the door to be defective. dealership refuses to wave the $180 fee to look at it.
Pulled into parking spot. as i slowed prior to shifting to park, the engine surged propelling me into a cement column. the front of my car sustained approximately $2600 in damages.
it was around 1:50 pm on may 6 2015, i was driving in the highway i75 n 341 exit going aproximately 70mph when all over sudden a car {minivan or suv}on front of me hit or ran over a big piece of a car tire that was on the road, i swithed to the right lane but is was to late the big piecec of tire wich it was pretty big hit my car, the left front headlight are, hood and bumped on the windshield then, it when over the car it was a very loud noise. that area in i 75 is always a problems there is always tires and other materials in that area. not to long ago i was driving and there was a long metal tube on the highway and unfortunatelyother cars and my self went over it.. the tire is a very big problem i think, that highway should be kept clean from all thing for the safety of commuters.
I'm reaching out to you concerning my 2014 honda accord sport vin #: [xxx]. i recently had a minor accident and the rear bumper was scratched. i took the vehicle to the shop to have the rear bumper painted. the repair shop called me and they told me that the vehicle was missing the absorber on the rear bumper, that is the foam part that fits between the outside bumper and the metal plate. the paint shop told me that sometimes new vehicles arrive at the dealer with bumpers & side mirrors detach and they get assemble at the dealer or its possible that a batch of vehicle were shipped missing the absorber in the bumper area. if you touch and press your finger in the rear bumper you feel an air space gap and the bumper does not feel hard. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I was stopped - was hit head on by an out of control driver whose car spun around, hit my car on driver's side and pushed me into a stone wall damaging the car on the passenger's side also. the airbag on my car (driver's side) deployed and i got second degree burns on my wrists and arms from the airbag and am now being treated at a burn center for second degree burns. i had gloves on and the burn went through the gloves putting holes in them. this was a terrible crash causing over $11,000.00 damage to my car and i have no idea what my medical bills are. i feel this airbag had to be defective. it also concerns me that my car was hit head on and on both sides and only the airbag on the driver's side deployed. all the airbags in this car must be defective or certainly not working properly. *tr
Rodent damage to gas line, emission system, gas tank, and numerous other parts in an actively driven car (not stored). leading to major gas leak (half a tank of gas in a duration of a standstill at red light) that placed drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and bystanders' life at risk. would've lead to catastrophic ending if exhaust was hot. gas spilled over stretch of 2 blocks, majority concentrating at intersection between heath and main st. buffalo ny, which required the fire department to clean up. 911 was contacted for patches of flammable gasoline, which could have been ignited for numerous reasons leading to fatality. reason for filing compliant. vehicle which this happened to was a brand new 2014 honda accord purchased in june 2014. repairs denied to be covered under warranty by honda dealership and america honda. stating accident events like this is not covered, and is not a mechanical defect. two conservative repair required, still not fixed. dysfunctional car for a period of 6 days and counting. for rodent damage to occur in a brand new, actively driven car is indicative of obvious flaws in the design itself. 1. the machinery was exposed and unprotected. 2. the quality of built material was substandard for it to be damaged in a overnight situation by some "rodent" no larger than those that can fit in, and maneuver, within a confined space (seriously, i do not believe a rodent would randomly choose my car on the street to squeeze into and just bit a wire (numerous wires) without purposes of building a news or for food). 3. disproportion between the price paid for the car and the quality of service which followed it. *tr
Trunk opens for no apparent reason. this usually happens twice a month when the car is parked, it happened once while driving. i can't secure anything of value in the trunk, or if it rains water will damage inside trunk. *tr
As i was inching into a parking space, with my foot on the brake, the engine suddenly starting racing and the vehicle lurched forward. before i could put on enough braking power to stop it, i hit a pole causing minor damage.this racing has occurred on a number of previous occasions but i was able to control the car before any damage was done. the dealer has looked at the problem several times but has not been able to help me. *tr
This complaint is not for a specific incident. the car has excessive wind noise since i purchased it at the end of august 2014. i filed a complaint with honda america and after several visits to the local honda dealership service they have determined some of their cars have more wind noise than others and this is acceptable. however, for me this is a safety issue as the wind noise becomes quite loud at highway speeds and presents a distraction. the noise is pronounced around the driver side b-pillar and sometimes feels like somebody blowing air directly in my left ear. i'd like to see what options i have here as honda is dismissing my case. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. while driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard an abnormal squeaking noise coming from the vehicle. when turning the steering wheel, there was an abnormal chiming noise. the contact also noticed bubbles on the windshield, which eventually cracked, and the exterior paint was bubbling. additionally, the suspension and engine made abnormal cracking and hissing noises. the vehicle was taken to rick case honda (157000 rick case honda way, davie, fl 33331) where it was diagnosed that the squeaking noise was due to the transmission needing to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. all the other issues had not been diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the transmission issue and provided no assistance. the failure mileage was 60,000.
The driver door leaks water inside. it is not the first time! when ever there is heavy rain and i open the car door there is lot of water between door and door panels. i read online and so many others have this issue with honda. *tr
Accident occurred at south high school road and west 25th st. indianapolis, indiana. i was driving north inside lane of 5 lane high school road. driver at fault crossed 2 north bound lanes for south bound middle turning lane from w 25th street which tees into high school road. i broad-sided driver in back side door/fender/trunk areas. the airbag exploded and sheared the skin off my right under arm. i was taken to the hospital and continue receiving treatment from my doctor. this crash incident should be included in the takata air bag investigation conducted by nhtsa and honda should be notified of this safety defect. *tr updated 1/22/2015 *js
We have had our 2014 honda accord for just over one month. all of our family members have been hit in the head by the trunk. the trunk does not stay open on even a modest grade, but does not fall down for several seconds, allowing people to lean into the trunk before it hits them. my daughter required stitches today for an injury to the bridge of her nose from the trunk lid. i have owned 15 cars and have never had one where the trunk lid will not remain up. *tr
Trunk opens for no apparent reason. this usually happens two or three times a month when the car is parked. sometimes it happens in the middle of the night when both keys are 50 feet or so from the car and no one is near them. obviously not a safety issue but it does make it impossible to secure anything of value in the trunk. honda refuses to admit there is a problem because it won't happen while they are standing there looking at the car. some of my friends who own the same type of honda are having this same exact problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the headlights from another vehicle vehicle caused a reflective glare to the e driver's side view mirror, obstructing the driver's visibility of the roadway. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 150. updated 03/31/14*lj
On multiple occasions (roughly once a month), i have come back to my parked car to find that the trunk is open. this has happened in multiple locations, including at home where my key is hanging on a hook and not in my pocket (eliminated accidental presses as a cause). honda service center replaced the trunk latch and cable, but the problem persists. *tr
The trunk opens up all bye its self. this has happened multiple times (more than 10) over the past year. i have finally dis-connected the power unlock from the trunk and it no longer opens on it own. *tr
Trunk lid has no resistance and has fallen on us numerous times causing facial/head injuries. problem is exacerbated when parked in our driveway which has a slight elevation. if lid is not held manually, gravity and weight of the trunk lid free-falls. it has been returned to two honda dealerships for supposed "repair" or we are told "that is the way it's supposed to be" -- an authoritative statement from american honda customer service today (case number 04244825)." in my 54 years of car ownership, including many hondas, i have never experienced this problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 honda accord. the contact stated that the gear shifter had a chrome covering and when the sun shined directly on it, it would blind the contact. the contact also stated that she saw white spots and was unable to view what was in front of her. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 9,540.
