Driver's side airbag light stays lit whenever ignition is in the "on" position. this as is an ongoing situation since september,2009. i know many hondas in that time frame have the same problem. many have been recalled, i believe. *tr

The srs warning indicator comes on when the vehicle is started and is occasionally staying on. research online shows that this is a common problem with older honda accords, and an extended warranty was issued by honda to warranty the opds system which controls the airbags and seat belt tensioning system. my accord, 2003, is not covered by this extended warranty. this is a safety issue, as the airbags are disabled when the srs warning light is on, and i am astonished at the treatment honda has given me. they are unwilling to cover this, even though there is a history of complaints. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. while approaching a stop light, another vehicle crashed into the driver's side of the contact's vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. the contact sustained back and neck injuries that required medical attention. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the body damage was repaired. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v320000 (air bags). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

When driving this vehicle the idle always seemed too fast. even when the brake was depressed the car appeared to want to go ahead on its own whether in drive or reverse. my parents had reported this problem several times to a local honda dealer who told my mother she didn't know how to drive and asked my father if he bought gas at a local indian reservation insinuating it was cheap gas that caused the problem. my father stopped driving the car because he felt he could not control it because it was too fast. i drove the car several times and always felt i could not control the speed of the car. on the date noted prior to the crash my mother was at a busy intersection. when the light turned red she had to use both feet to depress the brake in order to keep the car under control. prior to the crash she was entering a parking lot and had taken her foot off the accelerator to pull-up in front of a building. her foot was on the brake and the car lunged forward at a very high rate of speed-jumped a curb crossed over a flowerbed and only stopped when it hit a brick retaining wall. my mother tried pressing the brake as hard as she could and had the brake pedal to the floor and the car just kept the momentum going until it hit the retaining wall. when the car came to a stop, both airbags deployed. my father who was the front-seat passenger was badly injured breaking several ribs, requiring surgery and months of hospitalization. he is now non-ambulatory and still recovering. my mother was also badly bruised and could not speak for weeks because of the airbag hitting her so hard. we requested that the police investigate if the accelerator had stuck and to checkout the mechanics of the car and never received a report. basically, they blamed my mother because of her age. when my mother exited the car at the scene of the crash she was obviously upset and was talking to witnesses and the police took what she said to be her 'statement of admission of guilt'. *tr

Airbag light comes on randomly. *tr

Airbag light is on on the dashboard. honda service said that there is internal failure of srs unit and this needs to be replaced. *js

The air bag light in my 2003 honda accord sometimes stays on during the time the car is on and if i turn the engine off and on again sometimes is off i took the car to a dealer and i was inform that i need to pay so they can look a the problem im concern if a accident happens i'm not sure if the airbags will deploy. *tr

On february 25, 2009 at 8 pm my 16 year old son was driving down the highway when the passenger side curtain and seat airbags spontaneously deployed. there was no crash. contacted local dealer and they said this does not happen. contacted insurance agent and they said it sounded like a manufacturer defect. took the car to local dealership on 2/27/09 after inspection they told us they could not tell us why the airbags deployed. they said we needed to contact insurance agent, contacted agent and she is afraid the company will deny the claim if/when we file it. the estimate to repair the damages is $3,100+. *tr

I own a 2003 honda accord and was driving on i-55 in the chicago area at ~70 mph when the passenger side curtain airbag deployed. there was no impact or collision, no road debris or potholes etc. i was traveling in the right hand lane and pulled over to the side of the highway to inspect my vehicle. luckily as it was the passenger side and i was the only occupant of the vehicle, only my hearing was impacted. there were no marks, scratches or dents in my vehicle. i returned to my vehicle and slowly proceeded back onto the highway to drive home. i called my honda dealer and took my car in for maintenance / repairs. they could not find a reason for the air bag system deployment either. i was told it was under warranty by the dealer and the necessary parts were ordered. now honda claims it is not their problem and is kicking it back to my insurance company. this event would have had much more serious impacts had the driver side airbags deployed. *tr

I have a 2003 honda accord lx 4 dr sedan. the srs light is always on for the past 6 months. a dealer told me that it has to be repaired, but at my own expense. i am wondering if honda is responsible for the repair like the safety belts? *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. while driving approximately 45 mph at night, the contact's vehicle was struck on the front driver's side by another vehicle. the front driver's side and rear door were damaged. the air bags failed to deploy, but there were no injuries. there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the police was called to the scene and a report was filed. the vehicle was taken to a collision center for repair. the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved. the failure and current mileages were 89,000.

Honda has a recall on windshield wipers for 2003 accord and airbag sensors. they claim my vin # is not included. they say even though i'm having the same problems it is just coincidental and i am responsible for repairs. they claim the are not liable in case of an accident since my vin # does not fall under the recall. *tr

The car was traveling 25mph and was stuck head on directly on the driver side. car was totaled. driver side airbag didn't deploy and driver side seat belt did not hold. the passenger side airbag deployed. this is a major flaw in the car design. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. while driving 20 mph, the contact's vehicle was struck on the driver's side by another vehicle. the passenger side air bag deployed, but the driver's side did not. the contact was wearing her seat belt and taken to a local hospital with chest pain. a police report was filed. the failure and current mileages were 96,000. updated 09/23/08 *bf updated 09/25/08. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. when the vehicle was started, the srs indicator light illuminated and does not shut off. the failure occurred intermittently. the contact has not notified a dealer or repair shop. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure mileage was 54,500 and current mileage was 54,700.

In 2008 i was driving my 2003 honda accord. i had a terrible front in crash with another car. my front end was crushed and my front passenger head cracked the windshield. my passenger airbag did not deploy. every one i called gave me the run around. i didn't know who to contact. my repairs cost me $3800.00. we didn't have medical insurance so we declined to go to the doctor. the body shop that repaired my car said the airbag should have deployed. *tr

The airbag warning light on my 2003 honda accord ex comes on at random times. i will turn off the car and restart and the warning light will go off. it may be a few days or a few weeks before the airbag warning light comes on again. i am concerned that the airbag may not deploy in an accident. *tr

The srs airbag light has come on at least 6 different times requiring a visit to the dealer each time. in each case the problem recurred within a few weeks to a few months for unknown reasons. no collisions were ever involved. no bags ever deployed prematurely. each time we have taken the car to the honda dealer. the first time they cleared the dtc code and test drove it. that was $90.00 plus tax. the light did not come back on again for some weeks later. we took the car back again on 11/14/2008 for the same problem. they replaced the driver seat belt at no charge under warranty. a month later the light came on again and we took the car back in on 12/12/2008. they cleared the code for another $90.00 plus tax. back again on 12/03/2009; same problem. this time the blamed it on a seat belt tensioner and repaired under warranty. back again on 5/31/2010. this time they replaced the drivers side seat buckle again under warranty. and finally back again on 6/20/2011, this time not only having this problem, but they say the transmission needs replacement at a cost of over $4000 plus tax. i've filed a separate complaint for that. i see online that there are a very large number of complaints for the srs light, the transmission and many other problems. i see that the srs and transmission problems have caused accidents and injuries. this is a very dangerous vehicle. we are no longer driving it. please investigate asap.

While driving in stop and go traffic on i95 going app. 30mph, the side airbag deployed for no apparent reason. no side impact incurred. there was substantial damage to the interior of the car. no damage to the exterior of the car since there wasn't any type of crash or side impact. airbag was replaced, damage to the passenger seat and interior roof of the car repaired. *tr

Airbag light (srs light) turns on intermittently. problem since i bought the car. has been replaced one time a week after i purchase the car new and now (4 years later) it is on again. *tr

My honda accord ex 2003 air bag warning light is on and off. since this is a safety/safeness issue so i tell you about this. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. while preparing to make a turn, the contact's vehicle was struck by another vehicle. the contact sustained a back injury, whiplash, a lump on her forehead, and three lumps in her breast from being knocked into the steering wheel. the driver's side air bag failed to deploy. six months prior to the failure, there was an incident in which the driver's side air bag did not deploy, but the passenger side air bag deployed. at that time, the contact was taken to the hospital. she sustained head injuries. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired. there was also a diagnostic test performed, which stated that the air bags will now operate correctly. a police report was filed. the speed was unknown. the current mileage was 37,500 and failure mileage was 36,694. updated 11/20/15*lj the contact stated the seatbelt was defective allowing her to slam into the steering wheel causing serious injuries. *tr

Srs light comes on intermittently for what appears for no reason, but if there is a small pkg or my purse on the passenger seat it seems to go on more. *tr

I had an accident, the passenger side's airbag of the 2003 honda, accord deployed, the driver's airbag did not.*ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. while attempting to turn the vehicle at 50 mph, it was struck by another vehicle. the contact sustained injuries to her back, forehead, knees, and chest due to being thrown into the steering wheel from impact. the driver's side air bag failed to deploy. the driver's side seat belt came out of the buckle latch and was thrown to the passenger side of the vehicle. six months later, the contact was involved in another incident in which the driver's side air bag did not deploy again. the passenger side air bag deployed. the contact sustained head injuries and was transported to the hospital. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired. a diagnostic test was performed, which indicated that the air bags would now operate correctly. a police report was filed. the current mileage was 37,500 and failure mileage was 36,694.

While driving on i-95, i hit something in the road causing the side curtain airbags to deploy. by the way i tried to report this to your hot line twice by leaving messages; no one ever called back. *jb

On 01/01/07, i was driving with my mother on i-95 (northbound) (left most lane) around 3 pm from east greenwich, ri to providence, ri. between exits 13 and 15, a car, possibly an suv, tried to change lanes from the middle lane to the left lane and hit us in the rear end, causing us to collide into the dividing wall. after which, the car spun and was hit by another oncoming car, causing another spin and another collision. in short, the car was hit on all four sides. however, none of the airbags in the car deployed. my mother got bruised on her right side, and i got bruises on my left side as well as cuts on my face. in addition, i also got a concussion and had to be taken to the hospital and kept under observation. the car was towed away, and the insurance company is looking into the accident. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated the driver side air bag did not deploy in a frontal impact crash. the approximate speed at the time of impact was 55 mph. there was pre-impact braking. the driver was wearing a seat belt, and no injuries were sustained.

I was driving my 2003 honda accord ex-v6 on a highway when a passenger side curtain and side airbags deployed for no reason. there was no accident, no hit, no pothole. insurance company investigated and found no damages to the car that could trigger airbags; honda technicians after three days say they found a damage (dent?) on undercarriage that may have triggered the sensor. the car has 45500 mile on it. police was called on a scene but no report was filed. *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. while driving 55 mph, the air bag srs warning indicator illuminated, which was a safety concern. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v320000 (air bags). the vehicle was taken to diamond valley honda (300 carriage cir, hemet, ca 92545, (888) 794-1620) where the driver side air bag was replaced, but the failure was not diagnosed. two days after the recall remedy, the air bag warning indicator illuminated again. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 133,411.

I was completely stopped at red light, in my safety belt as noted in police report. subsequent details are noted police report. my vehicle air bag burned me very severely, and caused subsequent damage to my left elbow to which i sustained a fracture and calcium deposit and arthritis at age 30. i am a single mother and was put in a cast due to the air bag burn. i still have the scar from the air bag burn, and the emotional reminder from the burn of that air bag knowing there could have been something done is a just horrible!

Dt*: the contact stated while approaching a crossroad at 3 mph, the on coming vehicle did not yield crashing into the contacts vehicle on the passenger side because neither had a stop sign. the air bags did not deploy. the passenger sustained minor injuries and a police report was taken. the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop. the dealer was not contacted.

The airbag sensor warning light has been going on and off for the last 3 years on my 2003 honda accord sedan. the dealer says that if it is not caused by a seat belt defect, the repair is not covered by honda. the same defect was the subject of a recall for the 2004 accord but not the 2003. i believe it is the identical problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. the current mileage was 77000. while driving 10 mph the passenger side front and rear air bags deployed. there was no prior warning indication and no crash. the vehicle had been looked at by a dealer who stated that the side sensor was bad. the failure mileage was 62000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 honda accord. in june of 2006 (the exact date was unknown), while driving 10 mph uphill the passenger side air bag deployed, and ripped open the seat all including the back. the mechanic stated that the vehicle hit something and the contact stated that nothing had been hit. the current mileage was 77,000, and the failure mileage and the engine size were unknown.

I was on i-285 going about 40 mph when a truck carrying tree limbs and branches pulled off the median directly in front of me. my 2003 honda accord ex coupe rear ended the truck. the front passenger air bag deployed breaking the windshield but the driver's side air bag did not deploy. the driver's seat belt did not retract. damage was confined to the hood, bumper and several components under the hood (compressor, radiator, etc). the vehicle was towed to my local honda dealer who is making all the necessary repairs. the dealer informed me that honda recommends the seat belt buckle be replaced when the seat belt needs to be replaced. the dealer ordered the seat belt buckle but noticed it was the wrong part when they went to install it. they contacted honda north america on may 4 and again on may 12 regarding this and as of may 13 the dealer still has had no response from honda north america. the car was scheduled to be ready on may 12 and now the dealer can't give me a completion date because of honda north america's refusal to contact the dealer regarding the seat belt buckle. in the meantime, i am still having to pay a portion of my rental car and the maximum allowed by my insurance company will max out this coming week. *nm

I was driving about 55mph on a freeway in cleveland, oh. i saw something on the road and quickly swerved to avoid it. the item hit the bottom of the car with little impact, and the right curtain airbags in the back and front, and passenger seat airbag both deployed. i recalled a loud noise, but i didn't see the airbags actually inflate. i immediately took the car into a honda dealer, and was advised that there was a dent underneath that must have caused the airbags to deploy. repair costs were quoted, but nothing was repaired. *tr

It appears my airbags are not functioning on my 2003 honda accord . the airbag dashboard warning light has been going on and off for a while. lately it stays on continuously. the honda dealer (most recently honda marysville in marysville, oh) took various steps to address it but nothing worked. the second to last step taken was to replace the car battery but the problem still exists. most recently, on september 10, 2008, the honda dealer ran tests, spoke with honda manufacturing, and said that the problem may be with the srs unit and recommended that it be replaced at a cost of $475. there is no assurance, however, that this will fix the problem. honda manufacturing disclaims any responsibility for paying for this problem, despite the fact that this problem has been ongoing for quite a while and despite the fact that this pertains to a very critical safety device for the vehicle. *tr

Srs light in honda accord ex won't turn off. airbags are useless. dealer can't fix. *jb

Left side impact collision while stopped. side air bag failed to deploy. no side curtain air bags available. photos available. not yet repaired. *nm

Dt: while driving, swerved to miss road debris, not for sure if hit anything. both passenger side curtain and seat air bags deployed with no warning, causing skin laceration, bump on head, and ringing in the right ear. if consumer did strike something on the road it would have hit the undercarriage without enough force to cause this deployment. *ak

My wife was driving approximately 40 mph on a two-lane road when she made a minor swerve to avoid an object in the road. the passenger-side curtain airbags (front and rear) deployed for no reason. there are no marks indicating anything struck the vehicle. at the time of the incident, our 7-month-old daughter was in the back seat, on the driver side. we are gratefule that our 4-year-old son was not in his seat on the passenger side. we immediately contacted the dealer, martin honda, who advised to bring the car in immediately. dealer also advised us to contact american honda in california to report.

Driver air bags did not work in crash on highway. i hit hummer in the rain, from the back. hummer stoped, i was doing 65-70 mph, hit brakes, hit hummer in back doing 25-35 mph. none of the airbags came out.

I was forced off the road into a utility pole causing extensive front end damage to my 2003 honda accord. the airbags did not deploy. i and my passenger were saved from serious harm because we had our seat belts on. if the impact would have been greater i fear one or both of us could have had serious injuries or even been killed. *jb

Consumer was driving at approximately 40 mph and the side curtain air bags dropped down, but did not inflate. also, the seat belt on the passenger's side did not retract. the headliner was ripped 6 to 8 inches toward the center of the vehicle. the plastic housing that retracts the seat belts did not operate either. consumer contacted the manufacturer and told the story, but the manufacturer will not stand by its product. *ak

Air bags never deployed in my 2003 honda accord. severe head and neck injuries from side and front impact. honda did nothing. *jb
