Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. the vehicle was purchased used six months ago. while driving, the vehicle jerked severely while shifting from first into second gear. the vehicle almost veered off the road despite traveling less than 15 mph. bob allen motor mall chevrolet buick gmc (711 maple ave, danville, ky 40422, (859) 795-2006) stated that the interlock shift solenoid failed and needed to be replaced. the part needed to be ordered from out of state. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 158,000.

Transmission failure at 85,000 miles. at highway speed the vehicle suddenly races the motor and suddenly slows to about 30 mph, risk of rear end crash. the dealer thinks its the '' 35r wave plate''. this was reported to the dealer when it was in for the steering pump recall [ after it led to a crash]' there was a gm extended warranty on the transmission at that time as then knew it was a problem. they said that time that they '' couldn't replicate the transmission problem it '' at a single test drive. now that it has completely failed they say the extended warranty has expired time wise and they will not repair it. despite knowing it is a safety problem freq. to this model year., [ in motion, driving in a straight line]

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. the contact stated that the gear shifter seized and was unable to move into park. the contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 09v073000 (power train). the vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was approximately 91,000. **tr consumer stated transmission shift cable failed after a few day of difficulty putting shifter into p park. ultimately was unable to put the car in park at all. if i kept driving and there was an issue with the transmission and not properly shifting - very dangerous. updated 11/1/18*jb

There is a recall on the convertrr post that causes the engine to seize up and pull to go into the engine.. when started nothing comes out of the exhaust pipes as they are clogged making it dangerous to operate.. the recall ignoramus this year, make and model for the same problem however after contacting gmc repeatedly they say that it doesn't include this exact vin..i have already had the engine replaced once due to this problem and ther dealer failed to diagnose it properly and acknowledge that it had the same problem as the recall in other vehicles ofthe same make and model... the vehicle sizes up at any rate of speed and the exhaust is clogged making the vehicle dangerous to operate

Worst vehicle ever.

My vehicle has 85,500 miles on engline and transmission. i bought the vehicle when it had 36,000 miles on it. i have never pulled anything behind my vehicle that would put strain on the transmission. i took it to the mechanic and found out i needed a new transmission. the vehicle would stay in 1st gear and would not shift to a higher gear.

I needed to add this information to complaint 11113379. sometimes the care would be shifting okay and going 55 miles per hour and then it would downshift to 1st gear and stay in first gear

Had my transmission fail while camping in the mountains with zero cell phone service. check engine light came on at 121,657 miles, then deteriorated until it would no longer move when pressing on the gas pedal. taken to the local dealer told me that the transmission needs complete replacement totalling 4.5k. gmc refused to assist me in any manner towards the bill even though this is a very known issue with this make of vehicle. there needs to be a recall on these transmissions as it is a dealer defect.

Since i purchased the vehicle the service air bag light has been on, now the transmission hot idle engine light is popping on and also service the traction control light and service stabilitrak ligt is coming on. me my family had taken a vacation to florida and the transmission began to startle all the way back to tennessee leaving us in a devastated situation . i was hoping there was a recall on the transmission and and air bags this is very dangerous as many others has complained about the same issues in the past concerning their 2008 acadia vehicles this vehicle was in motion on a city expressway with a high volume of fast moving traffic. i went to auto zone and o' reilly auto parts to have check engine test and the following codes appeared dtc p2762 torque converter clutch,p0700 automatic transmission control,p0171 fuel control system. and computer error. i don't know if this vehicle ever me recall but i feel me my family could have been severely injured as the fast moving vehicle was coming behind us as our vehicle lost power and connection.

This is the worst viechle we have every bought. you name it an it has gone wrong. transmission twice, timing, power steering, tailgate, we have never pulled anything with our car. when it rains the steering locks up.. one minute we are going 70 and bam the car turns off. i can keep going. gmc pretty much just said oh well. this have happened so many times i lost track.

For the past 6-9 months i have been experiencing problems with unwarranted speed shifting, hard shift changes & overall transmission issues. i have had my car to transmission specialists almoat on a monthly basis for these issues. i was told by the specialist that he repairs at least 3 cars of my same make & model per week. he said he is noticing a very common failure in each vehicle. my vehicle has power but the speed & gear shift are huge safety issues, as it is very random & unprovoked. i have been driving on the highway & my vehicle would just stall or shift. i have had to carefully pull over to the side of the road to avoid a major accident.

This car came with a 30 day and/or 1000 miles warranty. within a week pass the warranty it started. the radio illumination started to go out we would have to tap on it to get it to turn on so we could see the time etc. then it would not come back on at all and all chimes went away., stopped working altogether. no turn single indicator, seat belts, back up warning, door ajar etc. the passenger side air bag indicator would say no one when someone was sitting in it and while driving blink between the two. also air bag needs maintance indictor in dash will flash while driving. park assistant on and off will flash while driving. the steering will move in itself while driving and around bends/turns in the road and worsening on highway! to the point i do not take my children on. there is also a faint burn smell around front floor.i decided to take it to the local advanced auto parts store and have them hook it up to see why i lost my radio, steering etc. they tell me that it was a dead battery cell and that my battery is located in the floor of this vehicle behind the passenger seat. by the way this vehicle does not have a sunroof all the windows go up tight as well. i called my mechanic who i've known for years my family has went to him as well and asked him to assist me in the battery issue. so we get there he opens the floor behind my seat and we discovered the battery is underwater dark sludgy water! the battery is replaced after a very unprofessional and disrespectful experience with this particular establishment by now i am at my wits end. i've exhausted all efforts with them! i paid to have a gmc certified mechanic run diagnostic on these issues at hand and to my thinking they determined to be flood and/or water damage and would need further diagnostics. however puzzling the vin is clean and no recent or active recalls. i am barely into this contract 3 months!

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving 40-45 mph, the engine would not switch gears. the contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off and restarted the engine, and was able to drive the vehicle to the contact's residence. the contact experienced the same failure 18 months ago. the vehicle was taken to todd wenzel buick gmc (614 n state rd, davison, mi 48423) where it was diagnosed that a new transmission control module was needed. the manufacturer was contacted at 1-800-462-8782 and did not assist. there were no recalls associated with the vehicle. the failure mileage was 124,000.

Transmission problem i am being told...no warning signs! stopped at a red light and went to accelerate and acadia would not go faster than 25 mph! now i am being told i need a new transmission at 95000 miles gmc is a joke! will never own another one!

What's not wrong with this car?? i bought it used with an extended warranty. after a year everything went downhill. it has been in and out the gmc service at lease 3 times a year. i don't even know where to start. the airbag light is on but it isn't covered under the airbag recall. what about safety? there has been a check stability trac and traction lights on as well on several occasions. when those lights come on the vehicle decelerated while driving across the kentucky bridge which almost caused a 12 car pile up. in addition, it also skips gears. when trying to speed up it jerks into the next gear like a hiccup. the dealership stated these problems were electric and wear covered under my extended warranty. i suggested that maybe the transmission was bad. however, they stated otherwise. literally, 4 months later the transmission is out. but what a surprise no longer under warranty. now i'm looking at a $5,000 bill. the service department stated that it is transmission failure due to an electric issue (out of my control). there is nothing that i could have done to prevent it from happening. but after talking to gm they, basically explained that they don't stand by their product after 100,000 and that they can't prove that the issues are actually manufacturers defect. i strongly disagree as there are hundreds of people experiencing the same hardships as me with the 2008 vehicle. on [xxx], for gmc acadia, 2008 is the worst year with the most complaints for transmission failure. how aren't these already recalled by now? they are nothing but junk! not work anything. even a gmc service rep. said these were the worse year and get them in the shop all the time. why won't gmc just isssue a recall and take them off the market. i have all the proof of regular maintenance and service receipts. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I purchased a used 2008 gmc acadia in may 2017 ever since i purchased this vehicle i have had nothing but problems i purchased this vehicle because my daughter is a senior in high school and i knew that we would be needing it to travel from state to state for college tours. every since i purchased we have not been able to travel because of the continuous light to come on, continuous codes that comes on and it causes the car to run horribly i am spending $20-$30 a day on gas and i'm also noticing that the oil is just evaporating but i'm not seeing it on the ground i continue to take it to the mechanic he continue to fix things that the codes gives him. i'm still spending money and i'm still not getting any results i have not been able to travel in this vehicle because i refuse to get on the highway with my child and breakdown in the middle of nowhere. what we need to do is start a petition with gmc because if everyone is having these problems then it is a serious problem i am to the point where i am ready to start a lawsuit. i mean let's be honest what are we waiting for either us or one of our loved ones to die and is known death trap. there are so many recalls on this vehicle that all of them should be just called in and repaired apparently it's a problem with gmc assembling the vehicle and they do not want to own up to their responsibilities and it's not fair to us that i lives are at stake.

Happened 2x already. vehicle is in motion high rate of speed 55 to 75 mph, engine light comes on and vehicle starts to slow down drastically on its own. eventually the engine shuts off loosing all power and power steering. happened once on highway and once on a major busy road. if you try to accelerate there is no power. the vehicle eventually stalls without warning. once i could not even tell the engine stopped because the dash board lights still worked. pulled over, wait 10 to 15 minutes and then try to start vehicle. it will start and everything seems normal again. each time this happened i had my 3 kids in car. not safe at all. took it to dealer and they have no clue. said it may have something to do with transmission.

Approximately 3 weeks ago, my 2008 gmc acadia was serviced at 140,000 miles for worn out timing chains. now, i am looking at problems with my transmission. how convenient. within three weeks this vehicle has failed on me. the timing chains were rattling in turns when it was taken into the dealership and the problem was discovered. i actually visited and left the dealership several times before the problem was diagnosed, so i was riding around with a faulty part in my engine. the transmission went out after i had exited the interstate at which point i could not accelerate more than 10 mph. good thing i was not on the interstate when it decided to stall out on me as i can only imagine how disastrous that would have been. the 2007 and 2009 gmc models were recalled for timing chain issues, never the 2008 model. the transmission problem is related to the 3-5-r wave plate, which had a 20,000 mile extension from gm to cover the repair if this broke, which of course i am out of, thus the repair costs for both defects are my problem. i do not understand how they will not back their products knowing that they are faulty. gm needs to step up and man up to the fact they have inferior products inside these engines and transmissions.

Citizen petition - 2008 gmc acadia, timing chain and 3rd/5th reverse clutch wave plate defect *cw the consumer would like the vehicle to be included in a recall. updated 09/21/2017*js

I have a 2008 acadia which is equipped with a timing chain that has been known by general motors to prematurely stretch and fail, and which can cause serious damage to other engine components, as well as activate certain sensors either prematurely or not at all. your engine and key components and crankshafts and sensors rely on the timing chain in order to function properly. when you're driving in your vehicle and the timing chain gets stretched, the check engine light flashes on, the engine and transmission will power down and shut off, a loud buzzing sound will occur and hope to god you are not on the highway, because general motors knows about the defect but still will not issue a recall on the prematurely stretched timing chains due to the extensive cost of repair. they have extended warranty coverage on certain similar models in 2007 and 2009, and have offer full replacement of the timing chain up to 10 years and 120,000 miles, but despite the same issue occurring in vehicles made in 2008 with the same defects, they have denied my service request. this a very costly and extremely unsafe condition to drive the vehicle in. it is terrifying when your engine misfires and powers down, and your warning lights flash with a loud buzzing alarm sound blaring through the speakers. the traction control, stabilitrak system, and airbag sensors are all adversely affected by the defective timing chain as well, and the manufacturer is well aware of this defect and unfortunately will probably not be held responsible until someone is killed in an accident as a result of a defective timing chain. i'm so disappointed in this vehicle and the lack of accountability through the manufacturer. they know it's a problem. they are aware of the defect. they even extended coverage to replace up until a certain point, but beyond that, they do not care.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle failed to shift correctly and a knocking/grinding noise was heard coming from the transmission. the dealer was not aware of any transmission failures. the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the wave plate failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. five days later, the manufacturer issued a recall for the transmission wave plate. two years later, the wave plate failed again and the vehicle failed to shift into reverse, third gear, and fifth gear. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and instructed the contact to seek reimbursement; however, the manufacturer denied the claim, stating that the contact exceeded the vehicle/age stipulations for the recall repair/reimbursement. the vehicle was included in a recall, but the details were not provided. the failure mileage was unknown.

Due to deceleration the mechanic replaced the throttle body. after that the vehicle decelerates often driving down the street and seems to slip into neutral. also will just die at times. now they are saying a new transmission even though it was replaced 13 months ago. codes p07756 p0797 stuck on p0963 p0969 p2728 road test by mechanic the vehicle seemed to take off in a higher gear and exhibited low power. during continued driving the transmission slipped out of gear before finally engaging their diagnosis internal transmission failure recommend replace transmission. *tr

Water pump failed in the freeway prematurely, brake cylinder failed prematurely, steering, rack and pinion and power steering pump failed @116k, transmission failed @ 116.no means of transportation with 3 kids.

2008 gmc acadia with just over 30,000 miles started jerking a couple days ago when gears would change from first to second. i took it to my mechanic today and what do you know - i need a new transmission. i can't believe that gmc has done nothing about this after reading all of the complaints. a $3000 repair if i'm lucky. my car looks like new and is hardly driven - and the transmission goes out?? crazy

1) a transmission switch plate error - warranty repair (gmc never paid my hotel/rental car claim. on hwy with family. 2) transmission issue - paid close to $2000. i asked if this would lead to transmission failure; they told me no, car would be good to go.the person who helped me no longer works at the el paso dealership when i reported he tried to overcharge me. driving on hwy in el paso with kids. 3) transmission - paid $4000+ for transmission (gmc claims not related to the previous repair); discussed with service dept if we should spend more money on the car...they told me the new transmission would work. (mileage was 125k) the transmission failed while moving from el paso to colorado springs...no safe place to stop. 4) 2 mos later (now) - claim the timing belt failed and rh tie rods need repair and they say i declined a repair. i never discussed this needed repair and the possibility of a $2600 repair following this $4000 repair...so if they mentioned it, they never said you have $6600 worth of work in front of you. i already was concerned about paying $4000 after paying $2000. it happened on highway. gmc is more than aware of these issues with their cars and they are leaving their customers to deal with it. i have a 2002 gmc envoy and never paid anything close in repairs. there are serious problems with this make and model. we are also a military family who travels quite a bit. we started getting errors on road trips and we even had the original warranty repair while we were out of town, causing us to be stranded on the side of the highway in the washington dc area when our car just stopped. gmc is showing a total disregard for its customers. they are aware of these issues and they are not taking any responsibility for them. they are putting their customers in physical danger and wreaking havoc on our finances. this is disgusting and unacceptable.

Vehicle lurches when going from 10mph to 20mph was going downhill would no longer accelerate once i was at 40-45 mph it revs up to 4 and nothing had to coast downhill turn into a parking lot and stop the car. took it to the dealer who sold it to me and he was able to replicate the same issue under similar circumstances. the dealership will look at it but i bought it used for my family at 99,950 miles 8 days ago

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled, the brakes seized, and the traction control and abs indicators illuminated. the contact lost control of the steering. the vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt. the failure recurred five times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls for the vehicle. the failure mileage was approximately 131,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle hesitated while the contact attempted to accelerate. in addition, the vehicle would not start when prompted on numerous occasions. the vehicle was diagnosed as having a faulty part within the transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 131,000.

While driving, the vehicle began to idle sporadically. eventually, it started to idle and not shift into the next gear. finally, the check engine light came on. when took it to a repair shop determine the codes associated with the check engine light, and found p0700 and p0776 codes. these codes reference a well known problem encountered in the 2008 gmc acadia. the waveplate may be broken, and cause issue in the 3rd, 5th, and r gears. so, now the vehicle doesn't shift into any gear, and i will have to pay out of pocket ($4k) for an issue that gm knows is an issue, and has since corrected in the later year models. i called gm to see if they would offer any type of assistance, and was told no, due to the mileage on my vehicle. i am currently at 143,000 miles. regardless of the miles on my vehicle, if gm placed a faulty part in their vehicles, they should be required to place a recall to fix it, and not have it be the consumer's responsibility!

The transmission in my 2008 gmc acadia is currently at the dealer with codes po752 and po700 which are the shift solenoid and the transmission control system. i was stuck in first gear driving the truck. the nhtsa reference #10052215 and tsb reference #sb-13120 explains the exact problem that occurred with my truck. gmc and the dealer are saying that i have to pay approx. $2500.00 which is a 65% to 35% split with the dealership ( mine being the 65%). i shouldn't have to pay for a safety issue that has been clearly identified by the nhtsa. i am just another dissatified customer with gm and would like to add my experience and truck problem to your data base. this problem has been happening for the past month or so. also, there is already a recall that gm has sent out on the wave plates located in the transmission. which they have extended the warranty to 10 years or 120000 miles. the wave plates are beginning to wear causing premature debris in the transmission causing the solenoids to stick. although the dealer is saying the wave plates are not worn.

My 2008 gmc acadia leaks when it rains, the floor boards fill with water & water comes through the interior lights causing them to shorten, blink. the power windows got stuck wouldn't go down almost smashed my kids hand. the worse part driving on interstate at 65-70 traffic slows to 40 and your vehicle doesn't go almost causing the worse accident ever. seems this wave plate, shift solenoid is a manufacturer defect especially since i was only a few months after initial purchase and the truck was returned to dealer for same issue so that means the transmission they replaced the bad one with was so bad or reached its time out mileage. this should be a recall if it happened shortly after purchase (purchased used) then it happens again with the replacement transmission and all the threads in have read every owner is experiencing this, someone will have bad accident possibly death. does death have to occur for us to get better resolve and make gmc take care of this. over $5,000 was tough to christmas time

Transmission started getting sluggish around 88, 000 miles. vehicle wouldn't crank due to electrical stabilizer, now my sunroof is leaking. dealership is going to charge me $275 dollar to unblock the sunroof drains what a rip off when this is the three time i have had the drains cleaned and the sunroof still leak. this has to be a gmc problem that they refuse to acknowledge. the transmission is still under the gmc warranty so thank god i don't have to pay out of pocket for that. the electrical modules seem to be okay for now but at any giving time the vehicle may stop working. gmc should own up to these problems and look out for their customers.

Oil changes at dealer performed every 3k miles. at 88k miles, shortly after drive train warranty expired. the check engine light appeared. full diagnostics performed by local dealer stated timing chain buffers were beginning to fail. est cost $3500. advised that since the light comes on/off intermittently, okay to wait to see if problem worsens, which may be many years, if ever. at 92k miles, while on highway, the transmission wouldn't shift gears, rpm's climbed, pulled over vehicle where it stalled and wouldn't restart. vehicle towed to dealer, where tested and determined that engine needs replacement due to loud metalic engine noise and metal shavings in oil. estimated repairs from two gmc dealers of $6600 to $7600 for re-manufactured engine. local dealers have stated that timing chain buffers is a very common problem with 2008 gmc acadia and vehicle should be recalled, but is not due to the cost of engine replacement. contacted gmc (belva - senior case analyst) to describe case and they responded that they will not assist in the repairs because: 1) vehicle was purchased used - stating that all such purchases are 'as-is' from dealer and its up to the consumer to do due-dilegence before purchasing, 2) vehicle power train warranty expired by date shortly before purchase, and 3) power train warranty is now 3 years past the date, regardless of when issue first appeared. gmc senior advisor also stated the she recently purchased a used gm product, and the engine failed shortly afterward at 100k miles, and gm will not assist her either, as that is also out of the date range of the power train warranty. engine was manufactured in the k-gm (saint catharines, ontario) plant.

Driving down the interstate when the transmission burnt up inside. the transmission shop said this was a very common issues with vehicles of the same make and model of ours. if there is so many of these going bad shouldnt this be fixed by the manufacturer???

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving 60 mph, the oil pressure gauge needle fluctuated and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the transmission fuse was replaced; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

My husband was driving our 2008 gmc acadia and the power train started to make a whining noise, when the gearbox shifted the noise stopped. a minute later he stopped and then when he tried to proceed forward the vehicle would not shift into any gear and the car would no longer drive. we had several people in our vehicle, mostly kids, and had to recruit bystanders to help us push the vehicle off the road to a nearby parking lot. this is a huge saftey issue! my family had to stand on the side of the road while my husband and some gracious strangers had to push the vehicle since it was no longer drivable. and they we had to wait for someone to come get us. i have seen several complaints with the same scenario and really think this issue needs to be investigated. and this worst part to this whole situation is that we are military and are currently stationed overseas and will cost us over $5000 just to have the part shipped here.

Numerous uncommanded gear changes....car became stuck in 2nd gear....moved to right lane of interstate highway...event occurred during heavy thunderstorm....car almost uncontrollable....finally came to an exit...car creeping along....pulled into service station and stopped at pump...when trying to restart....car would not go forward...i was able to back to clear the pump...very scary incident...internet reveals numerous incidents of a similar nature...all were involved with 2008 gmc acadias. incident occurred sunday 5 july 2015. unable to enter date of incident

Driving vehicle with my family in it 3 kids and wife and it just stopped working. no warning no nothing just stopped.

Get on the freeway with 30 mph, then suddenly the car stop accelerate. luckily, i was able to merge into exit ramp. the engine light is on and the car won't move any more. i be able to start the engine but there is no acceleration.

As i was driving onto the freeway and trying to merge my vehicle had slipped out of gear while it was in drive. i had no acceleration and i was on an incline. once my vehicle slowed to 20mph it had re engaged and i was able to merge off of the freeway. this created a safety hazard for my girlfriend and i and her 3 young children because the speed limit on the freeway was 65 mph with very limited space to merge because other drivers are trying to merge onto an exit ramp. this created a safety hazard not only for our family but for others trying to merge onto the freeway behind us at a very low speed and those trying to exit at the same time. luckily for us nobody was hurt. the vehicle is now in the shop and we were told that it is the 3-5-r wave plate. after reading on multiple forums about this vehicle and the transmission issues i believe that gmc needs to be held accountable for the malfunctions in this transmission because it is a safety hazard to those on the road.

Letter from congressman hudson on behalf of constituent re 2008 gmc acadia transmission failure. *smd the vehicle was returned to the consumer, after the repairs were completed. however, about 30 miles in route, various warning signs and messages began appearing on the dash. some of the messages read service stabilitrak, service traction control, all wheel drive off, check right front tire pressure, and others. including the abs sign was flashing a scary and cautionary yellow symbol.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving approximately 45 mph, the transmission slipped into a low gear in a jerking motion and the rpms increased rapidly. the engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. after restarting the vehicle, the contact was able to resume driving 45 mph with caution. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

2008 gmc acadia with slightly under 53,000 miles. was driving across town and the transmission started to shift unexpectedly as if slipping out of gear and the engine going to high revolutions. check engine light came on. vehicle stopped for awhile, restarted, began heading towards dealership. acceleration completely failed and vehicle rolled to a stop with inability to go forward or in reverse. vehicle towed to gm dealership. been informed that the clutch broke and spread metal bits across the transmission. transmission must be replaced even though vehicle only has 53,000 miles on it. complaint also filed with gm customer care requesting financial assistance with the prohibitive cost of premature repair. *tr

This is the second time i have had the same issue. i am driving the vehicle and the transmission does not shift out of 2nd gear. the check engine light comes on. i have the vehicle repaired once for this issue. i was told it was the valve body the first time and it was replaced out of warranty. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. the contact stated that the transmission was slow to change gears and there was an abnormal noise present. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and test driven, but the dealer was not able to replicate and diagnose the failure after having the vehicle for longer than a week. the contact indicated that the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power and was no longer operable. the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine was defective and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic again where the engine was replaced again. the failure recurred. in addition, the engine oil coagulated and the air bag light remained illuminated. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 110,000.

I purchased this vehicle, and was told there were no active recalls and nothing wrong with vehicle, the dealership supposedly had took it through a hundred point inspection, immediately, the air bag light came on, it started losing anti-freeze and the check engine light came on , after several trips to the service dept at this toyota dealership, i am still having issues, they fixed the small things like the water pump, the rear wiper blade, electrical but the engine light still comes on and i had it checked out and it is the transmission, it is going out, and the air bag (service air bag soon) is still on, but was supposedly fixed by a recall in 2011, either it was a bad part, or it was not serviced at all. i have been driving for 40 years and i have always been a loyal gm owner, especially the buick lasabre which i drove for 15 years, but i am not happy with the quality of this vehicle and the dealership that i purchased it at, and they are rated by the bbb as a. i also do not like the fact that on gm commercials it states non gm owners, like come on in, we will take care of non gm owners but not the loyal ones. i think it very important to stick with american brands and love gm, just very dissatisfied with this one. i think gm should fix this car, the air bag and especially the transmission!!!!updated 11/10/15 *bf

Transmission went out. had to fight with dealer about the fact that this is a known issue on these vehicles. i understand i was out of warranty. but how many people expect their trans to go out in the first 100k? if you own an acadia, expect to replace transmission between 75-85k. there are hundreds of horror stories on transmissions in the acadia, traverse, enclave, and outlook alone on the web. gm knows about it but never issued a recall for a sub standard transmission with faulty wave plates. but when it goes out, you get to pay for the "new and improved" version. dealers are well versed in the failure. in addition to the trans, my sway bars had to be replaced before 50k and i had to pay for it. the headliner was damaged from clogged sunroof drain tubes which new design was installed. new style water pump. all 3 of these items were newer style replacements because gm had to redesign them. that tells you they had known issues with them and instead of standing behind their problems, they hide behind a black and white warranty policy. at the end of the day, a one off problem should be black and white. but when you know there is a major failure history that causes you to redesign components, you should goodwill the customer and proactively perform recalls. *tr

Driving down the road pressed the gas to go up a hill and car would just rev up. acting as if it were in neutral and it was in drive. lost all gears. shut it off and started it again and i had low gear. continued to go back up the hill to get to my mechanic and when i got to the top of the hill the car lost all gears again and would just rev up. turned it off and started it again and it let me make it a little further down the road and did it again. i then had it towed. was very happy with this car until this happened. there was no warning that my cars transmission was going to go. the car never acted up until the moment this happened. i have since looked online and seen that the transmission going around this mileage is a typical issue for this year of acadia. http://www.carcomplaints.com/gmc/acadia/2008/ http://www.acadiaforum.net/index.php?action=search2 why hasn't there been a recall on this transmission????? it isn't right for people to have to replace a transmission at only 73-74,000 miles. bought my acadia (which i am still making payments on) last year on march 28th and haven't even put 10,000 miles on it and the transmission went. *tr

Power steering failed and transmission stuck in 3rd gear from a stop, couldn't move out of the way of a car and got hit. *tr
