We have classified the 258 complaints from 2008 GMC Acadia about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift into any gear outside of first or second. in addition, the contact mentioned that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 20 mph. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the technician diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. no repairs were made to the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 84,800. updated 5/5/15*cn the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense of $2,200. updated 9/16/2015 *js
Yet another safety issue w/2008 gmc acadia. dropping daughter off at school (19 degrees out/inch of snow on ground), as i'm pulling out of parking lot going very slow thankfully, the car feels like it shifted and then flashing light service traction control, power limited or something and engine buckling like it's going to shut off. i only live a mile from school and kept driving on back road unable to go over 15 mph. had i been on a highway or going 30 or so i can't imagine what would've happened the way the truck just buckled. i let the truck sit for a few hours, now when i turn on the check engine light is flashing but the service traction control is gone soooo taking it to the gm dealer will be useless, been here before and they never find anything wrong. hoping it's just the very cold weather making it act up but cold weather should not make this happen, unacceptable. my acadia acts up with lights, flashing low tires, etc. etc. all the time when it's cold and this would be the worst time for the vehicle to not work and leave me stuck somewhere. all the $ i dish out for this truck ugh, i would be better off buying an old beater and taking my chances cuz this vehicle seems like if one thing is off the truck just has a mind of it's own and everything is out of whack. gm please stop selling unsafe cars!! i have kids and i do not feel safe driving this truck. i hope this issue gets recalled, read numerous complaints with the same issue but dealership never knows how to fix.
Transmission is slipping really badly to the point it is unsafe for me to drive and this is will less than 53,000 miles on the vehicle. brought it into a mechanic and the transmission needs to be rebuilt or be completely replaced with an estimated price of $3,000-$4,000 for the repair. i know that there are many, many other people that have experienced this same transmission issue and have filed complaints so when are you going to hold gmc accountable for these defective transmissions? *tr
Purchased vehicle from dealer with 72000 miles with 4yr/48000 mile warranty. warranty ran out this summer, mileage is now 133000 miles. problem has been intermittent since early last year, but mechanics were not able to help because problems were not 'presenting' as the check engine light would go on and off at different times (just as the recalled service air bag light did!). in december 2015, the check engine began staying on all the time and the gears did not shift correctly. the tcm is messed up, which is a very common problem with all acadias, apparently. we had a very scary issue on xmas eve with the gears downshifting while we were on the highway and it wouldn't let me go over 20mph! we took it to first dealership over an hour away and the guy came out with a handheld computer, put in on our car, said it is our tcm and $3800 to fix it. he never put anything in the computer, so we didn't have an official diagnosis. we spoke with gm and they said to get the diagnosis and they would see about helping us to cover it. so, we got the diagnosis today, it is the tcm and no help. they said it is out of warranty, gm won't cover it, it is up to the dealer to cover it, etc. we have been told so many different stories about why they won't cover it, just that they won't. our vin number is literally 6000 off of the recall list! it is a common problem and should have been a national recall! does anyone know of a class action lawsuit? i would love to be a part of one.
I am requesting a recall on 2008 gmc acadia's (throttle body). i have a 2008 gmc acadia that is experiencing major issues. these issues include speed reducing in the middle of a busy intersection with my (xxx) year old son in the car. the panel displayed a red message "service traction control". went a few blocks further when the car shut off completely on a busy street; police pushed me off the main street to a less populated side street. messages displayed on panel "'traction control reducing power". i'm concerned not only for my safety but concerned about the many other customers of gmc who have experienced the same issue (similar issues found on the internet/blogs). my son and i could have been seriously injured if not killed because of this faulty part. i trust that gmc will do the right thing and recall this item before someone is seriously injured. *trparts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
2008 gmc acadia. consumer writes in regards to vehicle transmission problems. *smd an inspection revealed a broken wave plate and a damaged clutch. *jb
Check engine lite goes on and off appears to be timing chain. we have a 2008 gmc acadia that has had over $4000.00 in repairs since we purchased it in 2010. the most current is that the timing chain needs to be replaced at the cost of $3500.00. i have read all 167 complaints from other customers posted on the consumer affairs website regarding the 2007-15 gmc acadia. i compiled a list of all reported problems by year/make other customers reported on their acadias. gmc has extended warranty for the timing chain for 2007 and 2009, not 2008 though. all of our previous repairs have been reported by others also. 2 of my repairs had recalls after we had paid for the repair. have been reimbursed by gmc for parts only for stabilizer kit, power steering pump assembly and rack n pinion but not the liftgate yet. i contacted gmc customer care requesting they look into including the 2008 but was told it isn't included and all they could do is give us a $2000.000 voucher for a new or leased gmc. (case #8-1702070910) i tried to contact gmc at a higher level ([email protected]) sending them a request to review 2008 recalls for sway bar end links. front and back rotors, sun roof leaking, front gas struts, purge valve, vent control solenoid and amplifier. included a copy of my repair log and summary of complaints on consumer affairs for 2007-15 acadias. they responded within 36 hours by having tiffany (the original contact at gmc) telling again all they can do is the $2000.00 voucher. so i can only assume they did no research at all and i'm out of luck. i think gmc needs to be held responsible for their products and customers and not tell me they a man made product, they don't last forever. thank you for your time. sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
We don't even have 50,000 miles on our acadia and the transmission went out. the dealership is quoting us $4,200 to fix it. this is a well-known issue with acadias yet gm has not placed a recall. this should not be happening on a vehicle with only 50,000! what a hardship:( we have done everything right with this vehicle since it was new, all regular maintenance and keeping up on the recalls. *tr
The transmission went out and needed to be rebuilt. $3300. this is the second transmission we have replaced - we did our other 2008 acadia 2 years ago. this is a very well known issue and there needs to be a recall!! *tr
Transmission. problem shifting...3rd gear. vehicle would attempt to shift at 40mph but unable to do so. engine would rev up then shift extremely hard with a loud clunking noise. took vehicle to local dealership who informed me transmission would need to be replaced. more cost efficient to replace than to rebuild. no third gear. transmission should not need replaced at 75,000 miles. *tr
Drove to pick up someone at the airport noticed that the car was shifting weird. after parking in the airport parking lot for about an hour wanting to leave tried to pull out of the parking spot in reverse i had no response in reverse. called tow truck because i felt unsafe driving not knowing what else could be wrong. next day had it towed to the dealer they called said need more time to find the issue. dealer called the following monday claiming 3/5/reverse are gone that i have an internal failure in my transmission $4500.00 repair. since then i been trying to communicate with gmc customer service they pretty much told me the car is too old and over the warranty. but they considered helping at first since i didn't reach 100,000 miles yet but once they spoke to the district manager from my dealer her said no assistance. gmc has been knowing about the issue since they manufactured this car and has not done anything to stand behind their product. the parts on the inside of the transmission are breaking apart because of faulty material. why is the customer held responsible for something the customer has no control over. if i do something illegal i get held responsible a manufacturer should too. just because i was lucky enough to make to 83000 miles and over the 5 year warranty why should i endure the full cost of something that should have been fixed by the manufacturer. i hope more people file a complaint so action can be taken against gm. *tr
2008 gmc acadia. this year/model has had a lot of issues with the wave plate & transmission. the truck was brought in with 58k miles and had the transmission replaced in 2011. this past week, the transmission has started to malfunction again. same symptoms from 2011 when the transmission needed to be replaced. the car delays as it goes in and out of gears. the car now has 98k miles and will need to have the 2nd transmission repaired (3rd transmission in car if you count the one it came with). the vehicle is less than 6 years old. looking at repairs, the cost will be over $3500. lots of owners are running into these issues with the 2007/2008 acadia models. i don't understand how gm is not doing a recall on these vehicles to address the root issue. *tr
I just purchased a 2008 gmc acadia one month ago. we live in washington state and it rains alot. the first couple days of driving the vehicle, we experienced water dripping all over our seats, floor, and in corners of windows when we drove it getting my 3 children and myself wet. i didn't think it was such a big deal at first since i figured it was a minor leak i could easily fix. over the next 2 weeks, i noticed my front headlight would flicker on and off and sometimes not work at all. i also figured it was a typical vehicle issue. up until a week ago i tried to start up the vehicle and it wouldn't start, i knew it was the battery. i took it to get checked only to discover the battery, which is located under the floor board on the passenger back side , was submerged with water. the battery was taken and checked out good out of the vehicle. i researched online that there plenty of others experiencing this same issue and there are no recalls in place now. what am i supposed to do? this is a definite safety issue as its affecting the electrical system. i have a 2 year old,4 year old, and a 5 year old. my 5 year old has health issues and my husband and i bought this vehicle in hopes to have a reliable and most importantly safe vehicle because he is in the u.s. navy and is away alot on deployments and underways. the rain draining inside also causes mold which is dangerous for my children. the dealership wants to charge us almost 1,000$ to repair this. they were unsure how to fix this permanently so they referred me to the body shop. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed. the vehicle stalled and did not restart. the vehicle was towed to a dealer. the technician stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 129,000.
While driving the transmission did not engage into the next gear and the engine rpm's went very high for a short time and the transmission finally engaged the next gear very roughly. i immediately stopped an placed the vehicle in park. i then placed the vehicle in drive and began to accelerate when the vehicle missed the same gear again. i stopped the vehicle and placed i took the vehicle to a local mechanic who stated that the transmission would have to be rebuilt or replaced. he informed me that this is a major issue with this vehicle and that i should research it on the internet where you can find thousands of the same issue from owners of the same vehicle. the problem that gmc is aware of is a defective wave plate in the transmission that fails, causing the issue. this should be recognized as a defect and gmc should be held accountable. *tr
We were out in south dakota 200 miles from home. we were driving the acadia and the transmission began to slip. we didn't think anything of it at first. we drove the acadia home and scheduled to have the car looked at. on the monday after we got home, i was driving my kids to school when suddenly the car went completely out of gear and the check engine light came on. i tried putting it into park and then back into gear and had no luck in getting it to go into gear. i shut the engine off and started it again and it did go into gear. i dropped my kids off at school and when in park it went out of gear again. i shut the engine off and on again and got it to go into gear. drove it directly to the auto shop. they ran the codes. they said it was a 3/5 wave plate issue. had to have the transmission rebuilt. 2200 for the rebuild. reading online that this seems to be a common issue with vehicles. talked to the transmission shop and they said they were rebuilding 8 of these a week from the saturn, buick, chevy and acadias with the 6 speed transmission. they said the wave plate wasn't heat treated at the factory or something like that. it gets heated and deteriorates. gm would do nothing to help. hopefully, you guys can. *tr
During acceleration the vehicle vibrates when going between 35 and 45 mph. was not able to reproduce issue at dealership last fall, but is now getting much worse. happens almost everytime the vehicle accelerates.
Transmission went out (wave plate) which caused the engine to rev. up. because of this i now have to have the engine rebuilt as well. i see that there are a lot of issues with the transmission from searching online. why hasn't gm recalled this and made it right. *tr
My wife was driving down the highway with our kids when the transmission suddenly slipped. the engine revved up and then dropped into the next gear. the next time she came to a stop the car wouldn't shift into third or fifth gear. it will not go into reverse either. there are no "service engine" lights on. the service garage said she was lucky it didn't happen in heavy traffic. this seems to be a very common problem with these gm vehicles. gm will do nothing because it's out of warranty. this is obviously a defect in manufacturing. *tr
Driving my family to grandparents house for the weekend to visit.the trans started to rev between gears and then just quit.no forward or reverse just nothing.now big bill to fix for an issue that gm knows they have.i'm not going to ramble on because a lot of people with same issue had spent a lot of time writing novels of what has happen to them.simply will be put this way.tranny stopped working,gm knows of issue and they should pay to fix. *tr
Transmission went out car slowed to 10 mph. *tr
While driving my 2008 gmc acadia on the highway, the car started shifting hard, jumping, slipping, etc. this caused a very dangerous situation as this could have potentially caused an accident. i was able to get to a parking lot and then my car would not go in reverse, so it had to be pushed into the parking space. the 3-5-reverse wave plate is broken and will need to be replaced. after doing some research on the internet i have found that this is a major problem with 2007-2009 gmc acadias, not to mention several other gm vehicles with the same transmission also have this issue. if there are that many vehicles having the same issue, this proves there is a major defect with this part and gm should be held responsible for this. this problem created an unsafe driving experience for myself and my family while on a busy highway that potentially could have caused a serious accident. please do something about this and hold gm accountable for their defective part. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. the contact stated while driving 45 mph the transmission failed. the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact engaged the accelerator pedal and the vehicle did not move forward. the vehicle was driven onto a parking lot and placed in reverse gear; however, the vehicle did not move. the vehicle was turned off, restarted and the failure recurred. the vehicle was placed in neutral gear and pushed from the front end however, the vehicle was driven to her home and later towed to a private mechanic. there was no diagnostic test performed nor was the vehicle repaired. the failure mileage was 60,084.
Vehicle seemed to have dropped out of gear, so i pulled off highway into parking area. i realized vehicle wouldn't move when in reverse. after pushing the car backwards so i could turn around (in said parking lot) i pulled back out on highway. vehicle would not accelerate over 40 mph and tach was doubled at over 4. i did make it home and i had vehicle towed to transmission shop where it is now being diagnosed. *tr
My gmc acadia 2008 constantly stalls on me the issues started august 5 and has continue up to last night august 17th. while i'm driving the car would shut off on me and the check engine light would appear. i wont be able to restart the car so i had the car towed to the nearest gmc dealer. after paying for a diagnostic report the mechanic told me they could not find any codes indication the check engine light even came on. last night i was scared because i left work at midnight after driving about 10 minutes the car started jumping then turned off and the check engine light came on in the middle of the street . i called on-star and they were dispatching a tow truck because the car would not come on. after 45 minutes i tried to turn the car on and it came on so i cancelled the tow truck service. this is a issue that's been happening for the last 2 weeks. i cant get the issued fixed because the last 2 diagnostic reports that were ran states no issues. i also had on-star run a diagnostic report right when the issue happened and they also told me they don't see any issues. i took a picture with my cell phone when the check engine light came on but no one seems to know the issues the suv is facing. everything stays on the radio the lights just the car shuts off and wont start for like 45 minutes to an hour. i've looked on different gmc acadia forums and it seems i'm not the only person having this issue with this same make model and year car. someone on the forum suggested i make a compliant at the ntsa. *tr
The vehicle refused to shift out of first gear and the check engine light became illuminated upon pulling out into the roadway. at 25 miles per hour the rpms were 4000 and it just would not shift. we pulled over, called for help and were stranded on the side of the road with two small children. we were hours away from home, and had to call family from hundreds of miles away to come help. the vehicle after being turned off and sitting for a while did then return to normal operation when restarted. vehicle was driven home and two days later the very same problem recurred. going to trade in this pos before someone gets hurt. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle lost power and the transmission gears failed. the contact stated that the transmission gears intermittently slipped. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the waveguide needed to be replaced and the transmission needed to be rebuilt. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 133,000.
I'm logging these issue as i have now come to realize that the issues we have had with our 2008 gmc acadia are very widespread among owners. very early on in the life of the vehicle approx oct 2008 we began seeing small amounts of water inside the cabin. water would drip along the windshield occasionally, no action was taken as it was not consistent or so we thought. on multiple occasions my wife would complain that the vehicle would "cutoff" or "die" generally at slow speed in areas such a parking lots when turning, however the dealer was unable to re-create the issue so no repairs were made. one day this summer (2014) my wife was unable to start the vehicle, it just would not crank. on taking it to the dealer the vehicle was diagnosed with a corroded battery cable that ran from the middle of the vehicle to the starter in the engine bay. cost to repair $1,200. in approximately june 2014 the vehicle began experiencing a slight rollback when placed into drive. at first we didn't think it was an issue as it didn't get worse with time. however by october 2014 we got a check engine light, diagnosis transmission failure cost to repair $4,890 after a $200 discount. *tr
I was on my way to my kids school with my 12 year old son in the car with me, when i eased over a speed bump i applied gas and my car would not accelerate. my car came to a complete stop in the road. fortunately no one was behind me at the time. i immediately put my hazards on and my son and i tried to push the car off the road onto the side but could not. the engine continued to run. i put car in park then tried drive and reverse even low but nothing happened. a nice man stopped and helped push car out of road. my car is a 2008 gmc acadia. we waited for the tow truck to arrive. it has 81,487 miles on it. i am told the transmission is crap. i am shocked and upset. this should not be happening. i do not appreciate putting my life and especially my child's life in danger. thank goodness we were off the major highway!!!! and that my entire family of seven was not in the vehicle at the time. gmc needs to recall and fix the issues. please don't wait until there are fatalities. thanks! *tr
Started from a red light, car dropped in gear and jolted. tach revved up to 3000+. finally caught a gear and slowly made my way off the road. parked and waited for a family member to come tow my car. reverse and 3rd gear definitely out. by looking at the other threads, seems to be the ominous 35r waveplate. need to replace transmission now. luckily i can do the labor myself and save some money. i'm astounded how any other people experienced the same issue. haven't seen any injuries yet though so i doubt this will become part of the numerous amount of recalls gm is sending out. *tr
I was driving home from work at 2am and the transmission went out on my used acadia after i bought it only a week before. i'm filing this complaint because after much research i have found countless other 2008 acadia owners who have had the same issue. i feel the transmissions for this vehicle needs to be reviewed and possibly recalled. i have three small children and feel this vehicle is unreliable for them. *tr
Transmission needs to be completely replaced. most of my mileage is in-town driving and have under 64,000 miles. i have heard of many gmc acadia's 2007-2009 having transmission problems. *js
I went to accelerate and when i pushed on the gas the engine revved and the truck did not respond. i thought some how that it slipped in neutral but when i looked it was still in drive. after that happened the truck would not go over 20 mph. i got home and went to park and had no reverse. i called the dealer and they said it was out of warranty and there was not a recall on the transmission. *tr
2008 acadia purchased in 2007, transmission intermittently slamming into gear for high speed up and down shift. on dry pavement the suv will change several mph well within a second. my concern is that this is potentially dangerous while driving in inclement weather. especially on snow/ice! i am taking the suv to the dealer on monday for a diagnosis. i suspected an internal clutch problem or valve control problem couple of weeks ago. the problem is progressively getting worse. after reading online i found that this is a common problem with this series of transmissions starting after 47k. i wanted to add my concern. my car just passed 63,000 miles. i truly believe this is a potential safety hazard. several things would have to happen at once (ie let off the accelerator, accelerate, brake, and be on wet or ice roads). the shift is intermittently hard during any of these changes in acceleration causing a potentially dangerous condition. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle failed to respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the transmission was replaced. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 83,700.
Needed to replace the transmission due to wave plate failure. *tr
The car transmission slipped into neutral, the engine revved to 5000 rpms. i was traveling on interstate 91 in springfield , mass. i had to shift the gear into manual and then back to drive to get the car into gear. the car reduced speed and it was very scary. i had my son as a passenger in the car. the gm dealer told me the "wave plate cracked" on the transmission. *tr
Our 08 acadia has been one problem after another since we purchased it. the latest issue is the transmission going out while on a family vacation going 65mph down the interstate. the stability track lights start lighting, the engine light comes on and then the transmission just stops working. we get the car pulled over, shut it off, turn it back on and it resets itself. it starts going, but then goes back out again. we've had towed it to our final destination. we are now more than $4500 out of pocket and ruined our family trip, we couldn't go anywhere. a transmission shouldn't go out with only 72k miles. we see this is a very common problem with gmc acadia and nothing is being done by gmc. this is a major safety concern and this should be addressed along with the power steering issues. many families can't afford these major issues, and shouldn't have to after paying so much money for this vehicle. please investigate this issue and get relief for acadia owners!! gmc is aware of this problem and continue to ignore this problem. *tr
I pulled out to merger with on coming traffic and my 2008 gmc acadia transmission stopped working. the only reason i didn't have a crash was because i was able to pull back on the merge lane. no warning light came on dash. i my car was towed . when i called a repair shop (gm dealer was booked with recalls) and told them i had a 2008 gmc acadia i was told they had 4 others and this was only tuesday ! my issue is that gm has known about this transmission issue (3,5,r wave plate) for years and not sent out any alerts. this is a safety issue . if i had been hit i am not sure anyone would have guess why i pulled out in traffic and just stop. the owner of the shop said he has called gm and ask them to send out something to gm car owners about this transmission issue for the safety of the car owners. how many cars have crashed as a resulted of this transmission issue and were not reported ? this transmission was uses 2007,2008,2009,2010,2011 and changed in 2012. gm needs to send out alert about this now. *tr
The transmission had been hard shifting from 3rd to 4th for about 200 miles. at 25 mph while turning through a very busy intersection the engine revved shifted through what felt like every gear, the car lost acceleration power; going from 25 mph to 10mph. parked the vehicle. restarted to find that only first and second gears worked and the check engine light illuminated. during the 200 previous miles of concern; i had heard a faint whine during acceleration. the first time any trouble occurred the vehicle was stopped behind a school bus loading and while i applied the brake (still completely stopped) the car lurched forward. i immediately shifted to neutral, not wanting to rear end the school bus. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. the contact stated that when servicing the vehicle, she was notified that the brake booster, rack and pinion and the wave plate failed. as a result, the transmission, brake booster, and the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 39,000.
I was driving through a residential area and pulled to the side of the road and left the vehicle running when i got out. a few minutes later i got back in and put it in drive and when i tried to accelerate nothing happened. i had no gears at all. i eventually got it towed back to the dealership where i bought it 4 months earlier. they said the 3-4 reverse wave plate failed and filled the transmission with debris. had to replace the transmission cost about $4200. *tr
I was pulling out into an intersection from a stop sign and check engine light came on and vehicle no longer moved forward when i pressed the gas pedal. engine was running, so i put it in neutral and pushed it out of the intersection and oncoming traffic. turns out transmission died and had to be replaced. mechanic said it was a known problem and that the wave plate failed. *tr
I bought the gmc acadia used in 2014. it had about 80k miles on it, from a dealership. they assured me it has been inspected and i had an extended warranty on it. the transmission went out with my 5 children in the car on the freeway. i'm a special ed teacher and drive only 5 miles from my home and occasionally to los angeles to visit relatives. after 3 weeks of having the car, the transmission went out. i was horrified!!! the warranty covered the majority of the parts. but they charged almost $4000 for a transmission that they told me would be new, i found out later that it was rebuilt with new parts. fast forward to 3 years later, the water pump, the fuel pump, the axle and the transmission and computer has went out again. another almost $4000, this time it has to come out of my pocket as the warranty is expired. it is bleeding me dry. i have the car serviced regularly and keep all of my service records, this makes absolutely no sense. as a parent of 5 children, (2 special needs), i was excited about my purchase, now i wish i would've never done it. --
I just had the clutch wave plate break into pieces inside my transmission causing us to almost get into an accident as my kids and i were getting on the freeway. we lost our gears and had to be towed. i looked up the issue and it sounds like this is a more than common issue with the acadia at this mileage. if this is such a well-known issue why does gm not fix this issue? *tr
Transmission failure @ 67070 miles. 35r wave plate. gmc dealer service rep. said they had never heard of this problem. personally talked to dealer mechanic, and he states that he has replace a number of these transmissions for wave plate failure. it's bad enough that this is a know problem and gm does nothing about it, but for the dealership to lie to me right off the bat, takes the cake. no more gm products for me, ever..... *tr
Well a lot happened with this car. first the power steering pump went out. then the lifters had to be replaced at 54000 miles. then at 104000 miles the lifters are back making the same noise that it made the last time i took it to shop.the transmissions went out at 108000. got it replace. but the heads are still rattling. then there is the electric problem my windows want go up or down most of the time they said the motors or still good in them. they said that it need electric work that's why my gauges go crazy sometimes. then there are the struts and shocks that went out at 60000 miles. ever since i put my car in the shop at peilter chevrolet in lufkin texas i have had nothing but trouble. they fix a recall in the tire area on my car, and i think it wasn't done right. they didn't put my tire guards all the way back on its missing screws. they said that's the way it was i told them it wasn't hanging down when they got it. then when the replace my heads and i picked up my car. the black guard pieces that goes under the hood had screw setting on it. the where not put back in it. then there was a 2 bigger screw and the didn't know what they went to. i had more thing wrong when i got my car back from them then when i carried it to them. i researched gmc acadia and i realized that a lot of people had the same thing like lifters replacement, transmission replacement at around 90000 miles to 110000 miles, problems with there struts and shocks. power steering and much more. what i cant figure out is why hasn't there been recall on the transmission and heads or lifters, if everybody is having this much trouble out of these parts on the 2008 acadia's. we all pay good money for these vehicle's and to have this much trouble out of them there not worth what we pay for them we are getting cheated out of our hard earned money. that's the way i feel about it. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a traffic light, the vehicle failed to move. the contact stated that the check engine warning lamp illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 48,700.
The transmission again is going out on it for the 3rd time. this last time there was snow on the road and when it kicks down because of the wave plate failing again this time i was going around a corner and it kicked down and made me slide off the road i was able to get out and almost hitting the guard rail
While driving the transmission would not shift out of third gear. i am told that a wave plate has failed and the transmission needs to be replaced, cost $3000+. *tr
