I'm filing this complaint best the ford dealerships in clovis/portales, nm. they won't fix my steering issues. it has been verified that i need a rack & pinion for my 2012 ford fusion.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 15-20 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. the contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped or slowed down, the steering wheel became still almost as if it were locked. the power steering warning light illuminated indicating that the power steering must be serviced now. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 15v34000 (steering). the vehicle was taken to stevens ford of milford at 717 bridgeport ave, milford, ct 06460, (203) 876-6464 where it was diagnosed that the steering gear assembly needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was given case number: ca127256238 but did not offer any further assistance. the failure mileage was 74,300.

Warning: "service advancetrac"/"service power steering now" on dash. lost power steering. recall 15v340000 does not cover my vin. have to drive w/o p. steering, cannot afford to fix. opened case with ford, # cas-12641499. hope to get my vin included in recall.

At 80,000 miles service power steering light came on as well as check advancetrax notice. the next time car was turned off and restarted power steering was completely gone. took to ford dealer and they said tire was underinflated but if light came back on needed new steering column. for $1600. drove two weeks with steering ok then same message appeared and steering went out so had a mechanic(not ford dealer) replace steering column part and now two weeks later same problem with no power steering. read that a recall was issued for this problem for fusions made at mexico plant but my vehicle was either made just before or just after recall dates. recall should be expanded to include all fusions with this same problem. each time warning message came on, it wasn't until car was turned off and restarted that power steering went out.

I am a lieutenant on the saint john fire department in saint john, indiana. my daughter drives the 2012 ford fusion se. she was on a trip in texas when this steering failure accured. she was lucky enough to be able to steer it into a safe parking area when this happened. she was 100 miles from home when she called me to tell me of this problem. i researched this issue on-line and that is when i discovered the electronic power steering failure recall # 15s18. evidently, this has effected over 500,000 vehicles. being in the fire business i am thankful that nothing happened to my daughter while she was driving this vehicle. this could have been a very serious accident or worse !! i advised her to drive the vehicle back home and to the nearest ford dealership instead of getting it towed from over 100 miles away if she thought she could drive it slow and safely. she was indeed able to drive it back home and parked it at the nearest ford dealership closest to her home. the vehicle is there right now as i am typing this complaint. i do not have a cost estimate for this repair as of yet. i want ford to take full and complete responsiblity for this safety recall # 15s18 and pay for all expenses to repair this vehicle. if this would have been a worst case scenario ( if you know what i mean ) then we would be talking about a lawsuit instead of a repair and costing ford millions of dollars to say the least !!

Takata recall i bought a 2012 ford fusion on feb 27 2017 about a week ago thr steering lock up on me while i was pulling out my house while doing research i come to find out this car has a recall of took it to ford n supposely they fix the. ( i do not believe they did) well due to locking up now they saying the rear lower control arms are bad n they wont fix it. i had nothing to do with this damages that obviously the ford is covering up. i need help i have 4 kids and i feel the dealership committed fraud by even having this car on the market im stuck with a car dont obviously its a death trap. i have been researching and what im finding out is that ford keeps lying about all the problems this car has. i am in such shock and sick to my stomach that ford will rather kill people then to remove a bad product. i feel cheated and very worry as to how can they sleep knowingly that they are killing people my life and my kids lifes have no value i need help asap

The electric power stearing went out while i was driving on the highway going 70 mph and pulled me off to the side of the highway and blew out my tire.

After power steering failed, car was repaired under a recall notice at local ford dealership. the steering rack was replaced. 3 hours after picking up the car, when leaving work, the power steering failed again while in motion on a city street going under 40 mph decelerating coming to a red light. received warning "service power steering now" and "service advanctrac." these are the same warnings received prior to repair. the car went immediately and grossly out of alignment. above 55 mph, the car shakes severely. ford dealership says the repair needed falls under the tsb 11-11-3 related to high friction in the control arms; however, the tsb states that this problem only causes the stability/traction instrument cluster to illuminate. the dealership says everything under my car looks to be in good condition and that this has to be the problem, stating that the high friction is causing the power steering pump to lock up which is then failing the power steering all together. this is a safety concern and should be included in the recall on the power steering module. the vehicle has 145,000 miles. it has been driven for 6 years without issue.

As i was driving down the road, my warning sensors beeped along with the words flashing that said 'power steering failure.' thankfully i was not on a busy highway and there was a gas station close by. i immediately pulled into the nearest gas station yet the steering wheel would hardly turn. i bought some power steering fluid and put that in the car yet it still would not turn properly. i had the car towed to my local ford dealership the next am. after ford looked at the car, they called me to tell me that it needed a power steering gear box replaced and would cost $1,675.00. after talking to them and obtaining a second quote from a different repair shop, i was then informed that there was a recall that involved the power steering assist. i then called ford manufacturer toll free and they informed me that yes there was a recall yet because i did not take my car in to have it checked in 2015, that ford would not cover the cost of this repair. i informed the man that i was not told of any recall so how would i have known to take it to the shop? furthermore, i have taken my car to this dealership after the recall was published (for a different issue) and they did not say anything to me at that time about there being an open recall. i feel that ford should have said something at the time i was there for a different issue if there was an open recall on my vehicle. now i am being charged $1675 for a repair that ford has fixed for other consumers for free of charge. this will be my last ford car as the customer service was extremely unfair. i feel that i should be reimbursed for the charges that i am spending to repair my car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fusion. while driving 50 mph, the steering wheel seized and the electronic power steering warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to pittsville ford (7155 friendship rd, pittsville, md 21850, (877) 760-5870) where it was diagnosed that the steering gear needed to be replaced. the failure recurred three additional times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: cas22237575. the contact was informed that the warranties had expired. the failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

Power steering went out while driving the car. ford has issued a recall, but my car for some reason doesn't fall under it.

Two months ago, i was driving and my steering became very difficult to handle. there was a whining sound every time i made a turn. checked the power steering fluid and it was completely empty. i refilled it and a couple of weeks ago, i started having trouble with steering and the whine when turning was back. the power steering fluid reservoir was empty again. i have refilled the reservoir again. no obvious signs of leakage. there is a recall for some 2012 ford fusions but i have not found mine included in the recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fusion. the contact stated that the electric power steering was malfunctioning. the failure occurred twice. after the first failure, kerry ford (155 w kemper rd, cincinnati, oh 45246, (513) 671-6400) reprogrammed-the electric power steering, but the failure recurred. after the second failure, an unknown dealer stated that the first dealer might not have repaired the failure correctly. the manufacturer stated that there was no recall and refereed the contact to nhtsa. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 65,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fusion. while making a left turn at 10 mph, the steering became difficult to maneuver and the service power steering and service advancetrac warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). the failure mileage was 137,561.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fusion. while starting the vehicle, the instrument panel warning message displayed "power steering assist failed" and "service advance trac". the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed. the mechanic informed the contact of nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering), but the vin was not included. while driving various speeds, it was difficult for the contact to turn the steering wheel. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 72,800.

Steering: electric power assist system is out and power steering is not functioning

Power steering failed *while driving* vehicle on a city street in high traffic area. according to ford service, this was partially due to the recalled sensor for power steering (action 15n01). however, there was also physical steering gear binding. there are numerous similar complaints with similar remedy (about $2,000 to replace entirely). the physical issue has not been included in the ford recall (fsa title: epas steering efforts), but is happening with sufficient frequency to other vehicles to conclude that this poses a credible safety risk.

Shortly after purchasing our 2012 ford fusion & picking up our 9yr old daughter from school one day, i found myself in a scary situation just a few yards from my driveway. with our neighborhood being a turn off of a 4-lane highway, when attempting to make that turn that day, the power steering went out resulting in it being very difficult to manuver the turn landing my daughter & i off the road & in the ditch after getting it to the dealership, they found the problem resulted from a recall on the vehicle that needed repairing however, the dealership also discovered the recall had already been performed when owned by previous owner. the recall performed before had failed & was not a solution as the repair needed to be performed again. the problem was, when the dealership notified me about the recall, i was told i would be responsible for the cost of the recall because the manufacturer said when the recall was performed the first time, a 90 day warranty was placed on the recall that if it needed performing again, i would be responsible for the repair cost. my confusion is, if there is a recall on the car because of a safety issue discovered & you're notified of the recall & to bring it in to be repaired... shouldn't that repair also be a solution & if so, why is there a warranty placed on the solution? my understanding, a solution had not been found, resulting in the manufacturer knowing before the recall would need to be performed again and again costing them a great loss. at the time, i could not afford the large lump sum cost of the recall work & with the car not drivable, needing a vehicle daily for traveling to & from my job 60 miles, obtaining a drivable car also obtained another monthly payment & after obtaining that drivable car, i found myself not being to afford both car payments resulting in the one not drivable obviously to be repossessed & us sued.

While driving on a highway, the tcs indicator light came on and lost power steering. the following messages also came on - "service power steering now" and "service advancetrac"

Vehicle was stationary and the electronic power steering failed.

Driving 70 mph on freeway and power steering failure light went on and immediately lost power steering. was extremely difficult to drive the car but was able to get the car off the freeway with no one being injured. called ford and was told our 2012 ford fusion sel was not covered under the recall the for this known defect. was told it was not a safety issue because it was not included in the recall!!!

I can't steer my car. message saying "power steering assist fail" appears on the dash extremely hard to turn my car .

Loss of power steering assist. not all the time door latch will not open from the inside

My power steering went out as i was driving to work, i went to see if there were recalls and called the dealer ship where i purchased my car and they said no recall, even though i found on your sight a recall for (recall # 15v340000) and they said that is all depending on where your car was manufactured. boy i am completely dumb founded. please help! car mileage is only 93300. *tr

Takata recall. while driving down a city street i lost my power steering. i took the car to my local ford dealer and i was told my power steering assist had failed but my vin wasn't one of the recalls. my car has been sitting in my driveway ever since it happened. it is not drivable.

Was coming home from work when my steering wheel lock up well at least felt that way just was really hard to steer. i ended up hitting a pole due to the fact that i couldn't really control my car. also i was never notified about this recall at all and could've probably prevented this incident if i was notified about this recall . now i have no vehicle to drive so now i'm stuck trying to figure out how i'm going to get my daughter to her appointments and how i'm going to go to work and make money to pay bills due to the fact that my car is now sitting on the garage sitting there

The electric power steering assist system intermittently shuts down. first, while driving, a series of sensor lights come on. after this, if the engine is shut of and then back on, there it a total loss of power steering. this problem appears to be similar to that in nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000. this happened twice and completely shut down

Driving on city street, warning light came on that said the electronic power steering assist was not working. making turning the vehicle very difficult and unsafe. car has 72,000 miles on it. dealer said there was a recall (15s18) for this very problem but that my fusion was not part of it. (recall covers cars built between sep 7, 2010 and feb 28, 2012) ford obviously did not fix the problem on these later assembled cars (mine was built may 25, 2012), as this problem continues to happen. again the dealer wants $2300 to repair. *tr

Takata recall and vehicle speed limit possible steering problem.

I was driving on the 15 n at about 70 mph. the steering wheel veered to the left and locked. at this time, the power steering was lost. took it to the dealer and he said that the rack and pinion was no responding to any input and needed to be replaced. *tr

Power steering assist fault message appeared and steering was locked. luckily, backing out of driveway.

The power steering on my 2012 ford fusion went out just a few miles after the service light came on for power steering.

My daughters 2012 ford fusion power steering went out while driving down the highway. she received a recall letter in november 2016. we took to the local ford dealer & they said they needed to reprogram the steering and replace the entire steering arm. they said they had sent a recall letter in july 15 which she never received. now they will not pay for repair because the mileage is 158000. which is 8000 miles over what they say they have to cover it. it is a safety recall they should fix the problem. the car is only 4 years old. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford fusion. while driving 30 mph, the service traction indicator illuminated, the service power steering system now indicator illuminated, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 50,000.

Unexpectedly lost power steering while driving the car on a city street...noticed when turning the car

Our power steering went out a few days ago while we were 5 1/2 hours from home. it was working fine. we stopped in a parking lot, and my husband could tell something happened when he turned the car off. when he turned it back on, the power steering was out. there has been a recall for other ford cars like ours, but our vin is not one that was recalled. we had a different item fixed on our car, and it apparently reset the power steering. however, we are not comforted by this. we are worried it will happen again. *tr

This past friday, i was driving my 2012 ford fusion se on interstate 64 at about 65 miles per hour and my power steering went out without warning. this is extremely dangerous and it appears ford is aware of the issue, yet no recall on my car. from my research looks like fix is between $1500 and $2000.

I was involved in a rear end accident yesterday while coming off the highway offramp. a soda can was under my brake pedal making it impossible to slow down. i rear ended a vehicle stopped at the light, i was going 35 -40 mph. both vehicles were totalled and i hit my head on the windshield because the air bags never deployed.
